I loved this story. I especially like the fact that the enemy in this aren't even Chaos-tainted or evil-- they are just normal people who want independence, and the protagonist is painfully aware of this.
1400 men in 2 weeks is a stroll in the park for the Imperial Guard. It's basically a flawless victory. But I do love it when the Guard gets some due attention.
@@moonman5496I'd argue they are, regularly fielded against eldritch abominations and winning, their gear is leagues better than what we have today. On top of that the guard is peak humanity, people at the top of their physical attributes augmented by cybernetics in some cases. Yeah guardsmen are highkey OP when you break it down. Not as individuals but as a faction.
Quality audio delivery, if you haven't already you should look at getting paid properly for this. Definitely up there with the best Black Library audios I've listened to.
Hes the best. Baldemort is a close second. The fanbase creator content for 40k is on another level. I think it comes from the love of the lore by the community. Ive never seen anything like it. Except football dudes. They can be pretty committed. Here however we have commitment plus talent. 🇮🇪

I own the first two books, Baneblade and shadowsword. This short sounded like it takes place between a section of shadowsword. The cousin of Jonas he hates so much is the main character of both books. Give them a read. Well worth it.
I've been listening to your productions for about two years now. Watching the quality of your narraration steadily improve has been awesome to see. At this point, you're fuckin killing it. Much appreciation and love from America.
finished my own Stormlord 2 weeks ago. 4 sponsons. named it: "The Choir of Devastation." amazing story, as always. keep up the amazing work! you make us all proud!
I hear that intro and feel my shoulders relax. Like going over to a buddy's house to play GameCube and hang out. FOR THE GLORY OF THE IMPERIUM! Damn I love this channel.
This was really well done. You nailed the different voices in this one. Thanks for doing all these stories its doing the world some good with having all these free for everyone to listen too.
Ah and brother, I am on vacation in the region i grew up in which has a hilarious amount of breweries (300+) dunno too drunk to Google ;) trying to sample as many as i can and going to sleep with a new story of yours. Much appreciated and just telling you as you did some “drunken master“ stuff :) drunk bavarian out, gonna enjoy your narration now! Cheers dude
Man, i love guy harey books so much. Both banebland and stormlord are my favorite 40k books. They are what inspired me to make my guard army( a mechanized Infantry army). I hope he will wright a 3rd story in the series.
Good lord BP, haven’t gotten to listen to you in a while; how the hell do you keep getting better? I absolutely loved this story and your reading was impeccable. I’ll be both bummed and happy for you, the day the Black Library finally scoops you up. Keep on rolling man!
Firstly excellent narration thank you ! As is offten case 40K heavy on grimdark ,rich in story and characters. But poor on tactics if you can see the defense laser and it's not within the void Shield and you are the Imperial Guard then The Siege guns and basilisks and other artillery will smash it long before you need to get men next to it.
The Vulcan Mega Bolter is such insane Weapon, a dual Minigun that shoots big handsized Granade Rockets that are exploding on impact or inside the Target if its bigger like Warmaschines and huge Tyranids. Hundreds of Explosions per Second.
Also, there's no way in the warp that that tank weighs only 200 tons. A single track unit of that monstrosity probably weighs more than that. It's about ten times the size of a real 200 ton tank, and it is twice as heavily Armored and 3 times as heavily armed.
@@corneliusmcmuffin3256 Look up the Maus super heavytank that was built by the Germans during WW2, it's about 200 tonnes and if we assume plasteel in 40k is lighter than regular steel 200 tonnes should be about right.
I really enjoyed this story as usual, I must say though I feel, narrative wise this one struggled to hold my attention throughout the start.. Your narration as always is top notch!
I'm slightly confused about the conversation with the commisar at about the 50:00 mark. The exchange starts out "So, you came back" and later continues "in case I was wrong". What did he mean by those two statements? I've listened to the battle sequence before it a dozen times and I can't find anything that would arouse suspicion.

compared to the world wars it aint shit either
Yeah, GW has problems with power scaling
8 million soldiers is tiny to what a galaxy spanning empire should be able to field
yeah but this is forgetting that the average imperial guardsman is equivalent if not more skilled than a navy seal
@@juliabailie4892no they are not on par with seals, where did you hear that? 💀

"Are you ever wrong?"
"No, that is why I didn't shoot you"

I agree. I've paid 20 dollars for audio books that weren't half this quality
his tone brings a severity to the subject matter, I find. Others on audible and such dont seem to have a grim enough tone for certain context

Big fan as well of this series
Now all we need is Gunheads, Baneblade, and shadowsword.
your tone is perfect for Warhammer 40k, I've been listening to anything Imperial guard related that you've done and I love it
cheers man people say that i dont get it but ill take it

Very good reading, the constant out-of-breathness and ragged speech really brought the scenes to life!

Such great narration♥️
And a great story. I got into 40k for the Astartes but have grown to love the Imperial Guard.
