All of those little touches are what make Mordheim so awesome. Like how when a warband captures an enemy, they can ransom them back to the enemy, but the Possessed warband gets to sacrifice them for experience.

This is a very helpful informative video that I have been looking for since hearing about mordheim. Its very difficult to choose my first warband and was hoping a video like this could not only show me the look of different warbands but also some insight on the differences and mechanics of them. Can't wait for the rest of the warbands.
Another great video. Can't wait to see what the secret warband is. Ever since I discovered Mordheim I've wanted to make a dwarf warband, but I notice they are missing. Are they completely fan made?
Mordheim is about supporters of the three pretender’s to the throne of the Empire - the mercenaries are hired to gather miraculous valuable Wyrdstone in support the claim of their respective patron. There is of course a fourth claimant - Von Carstein but he uses undead instead of normal mercenaries. Possessed are followers of the Shadowlord - whose coming was heralded by the wyrdcomet. Sisters are a local Church who try to remove Wyrdstone from the city. The witch hunters showed up to purge evil. Basically all factions are human, except the skaven which are always there under human cities and view warpstone as theirs. Dwarfs can be expeditionary and greedy, they aren’t local nor particularly enticed by evil magics as humans are. So dwarfs don’t fit as well into this largely human setting. This is why they aren’t in the base game. That said, though there are a good number of dwarfs in the Empire and they can travel down river to Mordheim from their mountain holds. Dwarfs were added as a supplemental warband in their monthly magazine, White Dwarf, and other publications as the first additional warband.
Sisters are such a cool and slept on warband, they absolutely can wreck face with their whips and sig hammers, also slings. Damn shame the og models are insanely priced. Thanks for a great vid as usual 👍
They are one of my favorites for sure. I played them for my narrative campaign, the Procession of Morr, and I ended up winning the whole thing. I was lucky enough to find all of my models for $10 a piece not too long ago.
I was thinking of keeping the channel Mordheim related for now, since it is really the only game I play. I have played some Frostgrave in the past, so I may talk about it. I had some interest in making a Mordheim vs. Frostgrave video with another creator. Maybe we will visit the idea again.
A very helpful overview, thanks for sharing! That Cult warband made up of oldschool models... it warms my heart, so much. The late 90s Bloodletters are actually the youngest sculpts in there, right? Amazing!
They just might be. I believe the nurgle champions I am using for my mutants are from '88. The beastmen and bloodletters are from the '90s, but I think the beastmen might be the youngest at '97. The darksouls, magister, and brethren are all from the disciples of the red redemption regiment of renown from '85!
Whips are super mean! We’re also using a parry house rule in our current campaign. Having the parry trait forces the opponent to reroll their attack. So now whips are even meaner!
Great vid! Just one note, according to your screen shot in the video sister superiors as well as the matriarch may dual wield those Sigmarite warhammers.
You are so correct! I’ve played tons of games of Mordheim and I still get things wrong lol. I think I will cut that part from the video. Thanks for watching.
I will talk about at least one of them, as I have only played one. It will be in part 2. I may talk about more in the future if I get around to playing them.
This is pretty cool. I got challenged with Roll 4 Terrain by another UA-camr and it’s for Mordheim. I never played the game, but I’m hooked about it. I rolled for Smithy and The Alchemist’s Laboratory. I made 3D Terrain for it and making it available for free to download to 3D Print. I’m working on building a board based on the Roll 4 Terrain. Very interesting game. I’m hooked.
It is very fun has a lot of room for DIY stuff. I am not a huge terrain builder yet, but I hope to make more pieces in the future. Thanks for watching.
Good video! The flavor text at the beginning of the Warbands section (where it's Luthor talking to you) hints at what each warband is capable of, but it definitely doesn't lay it out for you.
@@GetTabled Ah cool. I love the rulebook warbands but having those first like Stunties, O&Gs too.. Adds fun as well. But I´m biased, I only play Greenskins..

I really like this content. This hobby in unapproachable and you are really good at zooming in on what someone who hasn't played a bunch of games like this might wonder. I have been wondering a bit about the hired swords and which ones are worth making minis for and having available. It's silly but I even think a "supply list" would be cool. What do I want in a measuring device for example? haha
That’s actually a great idea. I’m only missing a dwarf troll slayer for my hired sword collection. So once that is finished, I may put out a video on that.
Crossbows are deadly. Some people use house rules to limit the amount of ranged weapons you can take into a fight to fix that sort of thing. I might make a video on house rules in the future.

Magister, brethren, and darksouls are an old warhammer fantasy regiment of renown called Disciples of the Red Redemption. Possessed are classic metal bloodletters. Mutants are old champions of nurgle.

I suppose that could fun. However, when I have limited time and money to spend on assembling warbands, I want to know what I am getting myself into. I'd hate to build an entire skaven warband only to find out I really don't like how skaven play.
@@GetTabled that’s where your proxy it “counts as” comes in to play. To include “instructions” on how to play warband x is akin to cheat code that robs the player the immersion and exploration. @@TheJankmaster This is very true. The context in which a game released matters. My goal with this video was to make the game more approachable for people who might not have any knowledge of Warhammer as a setting, as there are lots of players who are completely new to wargaming showing interest in Mordheim. I myself had never played a tabletop war game or skirmish game before Mordheim. I have, on more than one occasion, played a game with a new player who spent their money and time on a new warband only to find out that it doesn't play in a way they had hoped it would.
@@GetTabled i switch ed to it and it is fun, so much modeling oportunieties and the game is cool too. Do not be discouragrd by the size of rule book. Most of it is warbands (there are around 60) missions and extra rules. Core is like 30 pages.
First of all, congrats on painting all those armies - awesome! But I disagree heartily with your assessment of the rulebook and peeling back the curtain for this vid. I LOVE the rulebook precisely because it's main focus is on atmosphere with all the charts, statblocks and rules needed to run good games and campaigns. What is NEVER discussed in the rulebook is strategy and tactics and especially there is no focus on meta-gaming. To me, this is a positive because playing to win instead of watching your crappy hunchbacked dreg try to be a hero is a bit of a mistake. The randomness of rulesets like this leads to emergent storytelling as your brain has to rationalize what you just witnessed. I was lucky enough to get many of the Town Cryer mags, and their focus was first and foremost on making it look like a broadsheet from the Renaissance and they would atmospherically tell tales of Mordheim, Lustria, Khemria, etc. Even when rules and new warbands were introduced, there was little focus on game balance. Again, to me that's a good thing because mathematically balanced games are often stripped of crazy fun rules.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I love the flavor and I don’t absolutely need my games to tell me how I should play. But I am a unique position that has me introduce a lot of new players to the game, and there are tons of questions that the rulebook doesn’t have clear answers for. It totally has everything you need in it to play the game, but finding the info you need is not always straightforward and sometimes requires interpretation. Thanks for watching.
Any game that gives you the option of paying a junkie assassin in drugs instead of gold deserves a reboot. I'm just saying, lol.
