thank you for doing a mordheim bat rep that isnt just commentary over still images, its so rare now to find people who film the whole game. looking forward to the next one
15:06 needs a house rule because we ALL KNOW a Skaven would have gladly pushed the other Skaven off the bridge for a chance to kill kill man-thing for his treasure.
Yes but skaven are craven cowards yes yes? Would want strength power over man things. Shield hide behind other skaven tes? Swarm man thing. Once man thing killed dead. Steal take precious treasure. Stab slash friend. Blame on man thing, yes, yes?
I'd say it's at least an initiative check for the skaven climbing over a downed friendly on a gangplank like that. Maybe one for the downed skaven as well.
As an excited noob to the game, I really found this video super-helpful, even with the mistakes (actually, you identifying and explaining the mistakes honestly helped even more! I've watched a bunch of Mordheim YT videos and, frankly, think your two contributions are the most helpful - and also very engaging!
That was a super fun game! You guys have a great editing style, both quick, but also exciting! Always loved how Mordheim plays, both on the table and the after action campaign progression stuff. Fighting is really brutal quick and tactical, while the between game stuff makes things feel very consequential.
Excellent job on that table - terrain really came out well! Thanks for putting Mordheim onto your already busy gaming schedule, it's such a fantastic game!
The terrain and miniatures look absolutely fantatsic, you've done a great job getting this off of the ground! Interesting report, I look forward to following these.
Thank you so much for this! Your camera work was very dynamic and made watching it feel like i was right there! The terrain and minis are great looking! Don't worry about little (or big) mistakes. We all have to learn and it takes time to get them memorized. I know you had said in another reply that you would share the exploration phase only if something interesting happened, but maybe add just a quick result of what happened anyways? Even the dull ones have some wonderful flavor text to them. Really, thank you. It was so much fun to watch this! I'm watching the next one now! 😊
Love the video! Can I recommend that you place an opaque/semi-opaque background behind big blocks of text? The Skaven team composition for example is very hard to read on the screen.
I believe the Men at Arms would have auto-intercepted the shaven attempting to get to the marksmen. Either side of an unoccupied model within 2 inches would have this happen. Thus, the marksmen couldn't have been charged as the first would have been intercepted, and no room for the other one to move through.
The video is awesome ! Visual is not as dark as Mordheim figures out, but it’s OK. The warriors are well painted. About rules… Knock down opponent is automaticly hit, u just roll to wound. With out home rules, u can’t run inside buildings/ruins/houses. Watch out that roll to hit and roll to wound are not the same table. When WS is lower than your opponent, u don’t need automaticaly a 5, it’s only needed when u roll to hit someone that got double+1 your WP (Like 2 vs 5). Don’t forget initiative test to charge opponent u can’t see.
Great battle report! At 23:49 the assassin shouldn’t be knocked down. It was knocked down in the reikland’s previous shooting phase, meaning on the skavens next recovery phase the assassin should have stood up.
When the Youngblood attacked the downed Assassin, he should have had two chances to take the Assassin OOA. One with his primary attack, which would be a dagger, and one with his off hand attack, which would be a punch.
Been playing this game since it first came out. This and Necromunda was the mainstay of my normal gaming sessions. Great work on the Mordheim and Necromunda games. Been following them since you started.
Thank you for the time and effort of making such a good video, very beautiful terrain, and good locking warbands! I will follow for sure. Please keep up your excellent work! Small notes on rules. All alone, only happens at the end of your own combat phase and not at the start of turn 4. “If your warrior is fighting alone against two or more opponents, and there are no friendly models within 6" (knocked down, stunned or fleeing friends do not count), he must make a test at the end of his combat phase.” Regarding Skaven equipment. Night Runners may be armed with weapons and armour chosen from the Skaven Henchmen Equipment list. Skaven henchmen, the verminkin, and the night runners can equip shield but cannot use bucklers. Suggestion on equipment for the Reikland Swordsman with an axe, he really should buy a sword and not an axe otherwise his expert swordsmen skill is wasted.
Thanks! On that axe guy, I’ll replace him as soon as I get another model painted up. Thanks so much for the info! I’ll reference it before our next game.
Very nice Battle Report - nice models, nice terrain. In close combat: you'll only need a 5+ to hit if the enemy has a weapon skill more than double of your own ☝
I did indeed enjoy the battle report - thanks. We started playing Mordheim when it first came out, and still do fairly regularly. Best skirmish game out there. Your terrain and especially your miniatures were excellent, which helped make the BR enjoyable. I only noticed one mistake, maybe two, that you did not catch. A model with Weapon Skill 3 attacking a model with WS 4 only needs a 4 to hit, not a 5. The other way around (WS 4 attacking WS 3) there is an adjustment, with the more skilled attacker only needing a 3. Mordheim is a right bloody game (as you BR demonstrates!) and melee attackers almost never need a 5 to hit. For the "to hit" number to be a 5, the target's WS needs to be more than twice the attacker's WS (a WS 2 youngblood attacking a WS 5 enemy, for example). The other "maybe" mistake - I thought at one point I heard you say a skaven with a spear attempted a parry. I may have misheard, but just in case: spears do not grant parries. Great job!
Thanks! Yeah I'm pretty bummed I messed that up. I glanced at the chart and just plain missed it. But the batrep has been very well received and that's fantastic. Thanks for watching and for commenting! 🙂
Awesome terrain, awesome minis and awesome recording but as you said, you need to check rules a bit (not finished the report but WS table is different from Horus Heresy one. A ws3 skaven still hits a WS4,5 or even 6 (but not 7) person on a 4+. In this game high WS is usually good of offensive but not so much for defensive)
man this is a diamong in the rough vast sea of shitty GW content, excellent voiceover, no lip smacking or coughing or other weird noises, clear voice, good micro, non monotonous voice and actually sounding like you know what you are talking about not having to improvise every second word and keeping on the subject and not rambling around like donald trump about some other weird thing. This is the standard every GW youtuber should aim to have. Also ofcourse all the models and terrain is great, but that is partly thanks to mordheim actually supporting tables full of terrain instead of empty battlefields.
This was super! I hope there is a terrain vid. Where you sourced them? Did you print, paint, or borrow them from other games? Any foibles to look put for? Plans for expanding to a 4x4 and what is coming to fill the space? Stab Stab? No stab stab? Cheers
The terrain was all 3d printed over the last few weeks. It's the Ulvheim range on thingiverse from Terrain4print. I'm going to keep printing to try to push it to a 4x4.
Epic I love the music, one of the best Battlereports. One idea: maybe put a bit More voice acting into the commentary, it doesn't fit to the epic music sometimes.
Wonderful video! I was waiting for it. :) I am not sure (long time since my last Mordheim game), but I think that the fleeing skaven from the Captain with greatsword, should have been stayed pinned just next to him and the other mercenary. Not away from them, even if the rules say that he first flees and then the attacks are made, would not make sense that he is pinned away. ^^ In any case, please upload more videos! GuCa
@MiniatureGameMontage I think models fleeing from All Alone Tests move regardless of Knocked Down or Stunned. As the rules under All Alone Tests states: "Each one of his opponents may make one automatic hit against him as he turns to run. If the model survives, he runs 2D6" directly away from his enemies." Also, the initial check for All Alone tests are done at the end of the Skaven players turn, not at the start in the recovery phase. The test in the recovery phase is for models who have lost their Nerve and need to make a Rally Test. So All Alone at the end of your turn. Then Rally Tests in your Recovery Phase.
@MiniatureGameMontage So I asked around the mordheim discord and Facebook. They're saying if you're knocked down or stunned and fail an All Alone Test at the end of your turn then you're unable to move as per Knocked Down and Stunned rules, but the enemy get those extra attacks and you're already in a bad way. Quite dangerous being alone and injured.
I’m sure someone has already pointed it out, but you don’t need 5+ to hit someone whose weapon skill is only one point above yours! great batrep tho, love mordheim!
Make sure you play with the crit rules when you roll a 6 to wound. They have additional crit rules which add a TON of flavor, but you can use the basic ones till you get used to it. For example, I once had a sling crit 3 times in a row so with 1 shot my pebble ricocheted and killed 3 guys. Truly cinematic!

@@MiniatureGameMontage sadly it’s forgotten now but it was a really good game I’m more a painter than a player and I have a blast with such models they are 54mm way bigger than the usual warhammer models.
At about 11:15 in, the skaven was 'hidden' (the words used earlier in the video)--which means he has to be seen or 'detected' to be charged. The rules for 'hidden' should be consulted. Great, regardless.
Hi there, long-time player here. As you mentioned, there are numerous mistakes in the rules, but I am sure you'll get them over time. Some quick things to note: Always give a dude with the one-hander a dagger if you can. It's a second attack, even if the A score is 1, and that attack is made at -1. This is especially good if you play with the armor rules as presented in the book. For longer campaigns, you'll want armor to be other something. We increase everything by one, otherwise, there's simply almost no reason to have a shield (it's -1 save for an axe, and another for S 4, meaning even Light Armor and Shield is useless). In our decades long campaign, a shield gives a 5-6, light armor + shield 3-6, and heavy armor and shield 2-6. Additionally, we "scoot" the S score for the saving throw negation one rank higher. That is, -1 save starts at S 5, not 4 for us. This adds a lot in longer campaigns. For parrying, the game as presented is ridiculous. A skaven could parry the greatest swordsman simply by rolling a six. To remedy this, we simply add a d6 rule plus the WS. So, if you have a 6 WS and roll a 2, you get 8 to parry. This should be higher than the attacker's hit + WS. Tie goes to defender. For running and climbing: If you are in base contact with the terrain you want to climb, you can just take you normal move (no running) at no I roll. If you're in base contact and want to "run" you can must make an I roll; if you fail, you simply stay there at the bottom. If you aren't in Base contact, and want to run, you make the I roll, and if you fail, you'd fall the distance. This adds something to prudent climbing. We have a lot of other rules, and found this really rounds out the game, early on and deeper in, too, making for great narrative campaigns (and giving a reason to use armor -- which would otherwise be useless which means you'll have a lot of money doing nothing later in the game). Glad to see you doing reports on this amazing game!
Excited to see more of these! And, would love to see the post-game stuff, too! Rolling on Treasure, etc., as that's a huge part of the narrative, and in my opinion, maybe the best part of the game! @@MiniatureGameMontage
Thank you, good sir. It's the best part! "Middenlander sergeant" is very tofu-y, like Kill Team. How about Gunnar Stefannson, veteran of the 7th Wolf Legion? The post game sequence is great, I would love to see one of the teams roll a "bunch of doubles" and find a magic weapon or something! @@MiniatureGameMontage
At about 13:30 or so...the captain should have automatically hit once he is knocked down. He just needs to roll to wound to see if the skaven goes out of action.
Warriors should just need a '4' to hit (18:30). Very seldom do you need a '5' to hit. Hope this helps. (Refer to the to hit chart. Usually when fighting a superior WS, it is still a '4' to hit).
Oh for sure! It's totally miniature agnostic. Use whatever you want! Here's an excellent site for a look at all the factions and even some good proxy miniatures. broheim.net/
So still at the intro, but feedback on your gang creation. You want to have some duplication in the henchmen groups. As each group gains experience and upgrades, you only need one survivor of each to maintain that upgrade. If you only have one, or if all of a single group dies, then the upgrades are lost. Any replacements of a wiped out group form a new “rookie” group.
@@MiniatureGameMontage I bought a bunch of bamboo sticks of Amazon. Should not be too hard. Gonna give it a go.. i’m only six months into the hobby. I’m new to all of this. But I have to say I’ve been buying up most of my terrain only because most of the videos that I watch, the promise “how to make easy to Terrain, quickly“ often in reality involve a lot of materials, time and effort. So I go with 3D prints.. But - Making some wooden bridges shouldn’t be too hard.
Balsa wood works well for these, should be easier to cut to size than bamboo. Use a craft knife to rough up the edges in irregular ways, and to gently score the slats with some lengthwise lines to give them a grain pattern that’s larger in scale than the natural grain (looks better at gaming distance after you drybrush the texture, abstraction beats realism here). Glad to find @MiniatureGameMontage’s answers to the sources of the other terrain and mat, indeed the table looks great!

Thank you for sharing! We’ll definitely look into some modifications once we get the hang of everything. More to come 🙂
Excited to see more of these! And, would love to see the post-game stuff, too! Rolling on Treasure, etc., as that's a huge part of the narrative, and in my opinion, maybe the best part of the game!
@@MiniatureGameMontage
@@Michael_Gombos noted! I’ll include some of that moving forward! 🙂
He just needs to roll to wound to see if the skaven goes out of action.
mordheim Mordheim! MORDHEIM!!!
Beautiful board
Phenomenal
Warriors should just need a '4' to hit (18:30). Very seldom do you need a '5' to hit. Hope this helps. (Refer to the to hit chart. Usually when fighting a superior WS, it is still a '4' to hit).
Thanks! Yeah I got it crossed with today’s rules. All things to improve on!
Where did you get the terrain from? Great work as always!!
Thanks! It's Ulvheim terrain on thingiverse.
Nice job!! Perfect amount of terrain, imo. Buildings 3d prints? Where did u get that game mat?
Thanks! The gamemat is FLG/Tablewar. It's the Cobbletown mat.
18:50 wound rolls of a 6 are critical hits, captain should have rolled on the crit table and would likely have resulted in extra damage.
Yep! We’ve got that on memory now. This first report was a bit rough. 🙂
Great vid where’s that tree from?
It's the old citadel woods. Probably only available on ebay nowadays.
Yeeeees! Finally! ❤❤❤
Can you use any warhammer fantasy mineis or are there certain minies that can be used in Mordhiem? Could I for example use plauge monks or bretonians?
Oh for sure! It's totally miniature agnostic. Use whatever you want! Here's an excellent site for a look at all the factions and even some good proxy miniatures. broheim.net/
I adore how you can just use MGM Presents for all your content
MgM 🤣 It's only a matter of time before I get a cease and desist.
great stuff.. who makes the buildings, low walls etc?
This ruin terrain is Ulvheim. All free downloads on thingiverse. The low walls are found there as well.
Mordheim was probably the best skirmish game GW ever produced. I really hope they re-release it one day!
@@andrewmount5717 yeah just minor updates like modernizing wound rolls and like a 3+/4+ to hit would be good enough for me
I really like the terrain pieces. Where did you get them?
These pieces are primarily the Ulvheim line on thingiverse
This is great! Can I ask where you got the game mat?
It’s from tablewar. Cobbletown I believe is the name. Edit: tablewar.com/products/6x4cobbletown
@@MiniatureGameMontage right on! Thanks so much man!
Wow is that all AI art you generated? Is the intro voice over AI? That’s amazing either way.
It is 🙂 I’ve been playing with some things. I wish I could call up Baldermort but I just don’t have that kind of pull.
@@MiniatureGameMontage awesome which ones do you use if I may ask?
@@burroc5536 I use elevenlabs for voice. Leonardo I think for pictures. I’ve just started to dabble with it so still learning
LET'S WARP!
Noted! I'll remember that moving forward. Be prepared. We screw up so much. 😂
I’m loving this tho as I have a bunch of these ruined houses…
How do you make the bridges though??
Random file I found on thingiverse I think. Just 3D printed
@@MiniatureGameMontage
I bought a bunch of bamboo sticks of Amazon.
@@LaMOi1 for sure! I love crafting but I’m not very good. Thats why I went the 3d printing route.
YES YES
thanks for the great report
you missed sometimes the meaning of hit and wound, if an enemy is stunned automatic OOO, is he is down just to wound instead of hit
great table, very small but looks good
Thanks! We'll continue to get better and build out the table.
Nice terrain! is there any link where to find it?
It’s all on thingiverse. Search for ulvheim. Thanks for watching!
Mordheim yeah
I didnt know yall were doijg mordheim
Been wanting to try it for a long time!
Excellent. Are there new rules or are these the same original rules?
Same rules as always to my knowledge.
Great terrain, where can I find it?
Thingiverse. Search for Ulvheim terrain.
