A morning star is the metal ball with spikes. It may be placed upon a mace (wooden handle) which makes it a type of mace, or, upon a chain--which would make it a type of flail.
Having never played Mordheim, I appreciated that you clearly explained the rules as you played. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the handi-cam style of filming (its never sat well with me) but I enjoyed the banter, the minis and of course that amazing looking game board. I am going to try and give your next video a watch. Keep up the good work!
I'm pretty sure the morning star with the chain doesn't exist in history, flails tend to just have a weight. The name of such a thing is an eternal debate! Great report and gorgeous table!
sweet! looking forward to seeing more of Mordheim. Love your Mordheim campaigns. The voiceover adds a lot to the narrative too. Great voiceover guy you found.
17:34 Seeing how it was Skaven's turn, the stunned guy would have turned around during Recovery. Would still be relatively easy to dispatch, but would need to hit too.
Yep, spiky ball on a stick type of mace, flail is a weight on a chain(or leather loop) on a stick, originally for threshing grain. Then we Czechs used both plus guns and wagons to thresh German crusades. Hurhur.
Oh gosh that board looks amazing. Also gosh darn it my stupid ming wanting to correct things. IDK if anyone’s mentioned this already but a morning star is basically just a type of mace. a flail is a weapon that could be one handed or two handed and is an stick connected to another object with a rope or chain (usually people think of a spiked metal ball at the end but i have seen kinds that’s a long wooden stick and then a much shorter stick attached to it by a small amount of rope (idk if that’s a different type of weapon though). great game and vid though
Shame about the god-awful lotr-ish Kruleboys, and I KNOW you got some proper goblins, Steve! Not even mentioning orcs! Hah! That said, beautiful table and wonderfully bad game for the orcs, went the same as my first ever game where I got rolled by skaven too!
It's never really gone away. The golden era of GW (mid-to-late 90's) produced a lot of games which still have large followings (often larger than the 'replacement' modern GW games). It was the end of the geek-non-corporate era, where you got a lot more game for your money. There has been a huge Mordheim following ever since its release in 1999. There's a large and active Facebook group, etc. Same can be said for Warhammer Quest, original Necromunda, etc. You may not see a bunch of videos on UA-cam covering it (because influencers need to do 'the current thing' in order to generate views) but the games are still very popular. Eric's Hobby Workshop flew several states to partake in a Mordheim tournament a year ago or so. There are actual international events, etc. In short, it never left.
Also Pirinen, one of the original makers, has recently revealed plans to release two new "official" warbands and some more extra content from "official source" to the game towards the end of the year or somesuch. Been in a group that activated again this summer and there's been all sorts of hype over them.
Beautiful table! I love mordheim! 😀 Gotta say though, im a bit disapointed by those god awful orc models. 😶 They dont look nothing like orcs and goblins.
Got to agree, the originals from the era (thereabouts) have so much character and are easy to convert... that said my Mordheim boss has 9 kits in him, I go a bit hog wild with kitbashing, hah!
The voiceover pushes your production values even further. Well done!
agreed!
that's about it though.
No it doesn't, I think it's annoying.

Absolutely amazing! Can’t get enough of mordheim!
Nice, Mordheim!
The board looks amazing!
Thanks mate
MORDHEIM HYPE, everything about this is perfect. It's the battle report equivalent of a cat.

Mordheim!!! Hell yeah!
A morning star is a type of mace. It consists of a stick with a pointy ball of steel on top.
so i was right?
no.
I'm pretty sure the morning star with the chain doesn't exist in history, flails tend to just have a weight. The name of such a thing is an eternal debate!
Great report and gorgeous table!
Mordheim! YEY! I love this game :D
sweet! looking forward to seeing more of Mordheim.

This was a lot of fun and I love the friendly energy!
Morning star is a type of mace isn’t it ? Flail is a stick-chain-heavy mace style head?

ABSOLUTELY incredible!! 👍😊
Outrageous. The visual to all our internal imaginations. Well played, friends.

Good god that’s a good looking table

The AI forward is really cool
Dice for sale yet? I need some lucky 6’s:)
When exploring you find everything. So that double 1 well should be rolled for.
that is incorrect. its a little word, but you only look up your highest set of multiples.
This rule actually differs between campaign rulesets, base rulebook it is just one, Marienburg & Lustria you get everything
where do i find the nex episode?
That table is awesome. Is there any vids on the making of it?
Yessss more mordheim!
Mordheim for the win!
Is that Jonathon Keeble voicing the intro?
The episode is great but Orc not being capitalized in the title is giving me anxiety haha
I love mordheim
Mordheim, good, yes yes.
YES

Thanks for the table comment
Heya . Cool gaming. You guys are from Ontario?
Love the scenery. I tried going to the website but for some reason I couldn't access it.
Clan skurrr! 😁
Makin folks skurrd!
Is this game making a comeback or something? I never heard of it then within the last couple weeks I’m seeing it a good amount

The play experience is practically unwatchable with Steve yelling into the camera the entire time.

Maybe try highlighting the models or using brighter bases, they can be hard to see.
