Nearly 30 years later and this scene has lost none of its magic.
One of the movie theaters in town showed Jurassic Park recently as part of their Flashback cinema. Naturally I went. Even though I've seen it 100 times, it was like I was watching it for the first time all over again. It lost none of its magic
Happy 30th Anniversary to this cinematic masterpiece!!
I need to check with my theater when they will be showing it. One of my regrets was not watching it on theater when it came out, I was 10 back then so trying to go on my own was a no brainer.
Yup. I still love it to this day.
It's incredible!
One of the most beautiful scenes in movie history.
certainly
‘One of’?
agreed
Yup! Still get chills seeing it.👍
Epic goosebumps moment
Just imagine the feeling, they've been studying the dinosaurs all their lives and then suddenly everything they've read is right infront of their eyes and moving. That's an inexplicable feeling. The happiness in their eyes especially when he says, "They do move in herds". Very accurately directed by Spielberg and very accurately acted by the actors.
I could all but *feel* Dr. Grant tearing up at that point. Like it was vindication for everything he'd been working for his entire life.
“They do move in herds” = “Alexandretta!!!”

Spielberg is a movie genius. All of his productions leave memories like no other movie and he has created tons of iconic movies. On top of that I think he is still active today. Crazy
@@Blinkers2007GameDevhe is!! He made “life on ur planet” recently with morgan freeman also with dinosaurs - you should watch terra nova if you love dinosaurs aswell!! He is crazy great. Not to mention he also created land before time which was my fave as a kid. I actually just think Steven loves dinosaurs as much as we do.🥺
Imagine seeing this in 93, in theaters.
The whole audience must've lost their minds... seeing such amazing creatures come back to life...
Wow... These guys are old!
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I was there, and you're definitely right. Everyone was wide eyed and had their mouths open
Oo they did. They packed the theaters. Every theater was sold out n it played in 4 theaters in the same building n they all sold out. I remember the long long lines n waiting tonger in to see it for the first time n it literally blew my mind. It was amazing!!!!
Trust me, I got goosebumps watching this in the theatre. Everyone literally gasped when the dinosaur came out with John William's music. I was 8 and felt like my dream just came true. Movie magic.
I remember seeing it in 1993. I went with my sister and a friend. When the T Rex showed up, my sister was flat against the back of her chair, terrified. I was on the edge of my seat.
Oh man you’re spot on. I was 8 and I saw it with my dad at the cinema - people were utterly stunned. It was a quantum leap in what movies were capable of. It was like magic. My dad could not believe it. It literally became the only thing people at school wanted to talk about for weeks.
Can't watch this without smiling and without tears. This is a miracle. Imagine if you'd stand in their place...
So true
I couldn't have said it any better...
Exactly what i feel
201st like
Majestic music and acting..
How to sum up in one scene just how important John Williams' music was to late 20th century cinema.
Absolutely.
Best movie composer of all time

100%
@Zahar 89 exactly. I even created a playlist of film music composers.
As a fan of the book, which is mostly horror... I have to say, this scene is beautiful and heartwarming. Truly one of the best scenes in movie history.
This is why Spielberg was the right person to direct this. He was able to balance the tension and suspense of scenes like the raptors in the kitchen or the Rex breakout with the awe and magic of scenes like this.
Michael Crichton did write some great techno-horror.
I actually think the movie is better than the book
@@FilmScoutmeh
Exactly
Perfection. And god when the score comes in I literally shed a tear. We are so blessed to have lived on Earth in this period of time to experience this film and everything that went into it ♥️
God damn 2 weeks ago??
Didn't expect to see you here
In Sri Lanka, my home country, theatres were modified to handle the sheer awesomeness of the movie's sound track. Only a handful of theatres were capable and resourceful enough to handle such tech. I ended up watching the movie 8 times in the theatre.
Seeing this in the theater back in 1993 was truly amazing. Not only did we feel like we were seeing Dinosaurs for the first time, but it was beginning of the digital era of film making.
Thanks to Industrial Light and Magic.
CGI when viewed on a digital medium such as a tv set looks horrible but when you see the exact same CGI on film in a theater it looks fantastic.
Film has a softer color look which means different colors do not stand out against one other in harsh tones.
I remember thinking, "yep, we need to find a way to do this." I also had a Jurassic Park themed birthday party that year.
Yes, you're exactly right. Prior to this, regardless of the technology, NO dinosaur on film was truly convincing; they ALL looked fake. Seeing this in 1993 left one speechless!
As a four-year old, seeing this movie in cinema was basically a religious experience at the time.
2:07 - "Dr. Grant, my dear Dr. Sattler... welcome to Jurassic Park." WHAT AN AMAZING LINE

"Say again?"
(Chuckles)"We have a T Rex!"

30 years later, this is still one of the most iconic lines from this movie. Overall, this scene is so beautiful and perfect because of the dialogue, music, and CGI.
2:11 "WELCOME TO JURASSIC PARK" easily one of the BEST movie quotes of all time! Jurassic park will forever REMAIN one of my favorite movies of all time! :)
No doubt one of the best Quotes!!!!
The score does a lot of the heavy lifting in making this scene so iconic.
Four magic words of prehistoric discovery.
This will remain ❤️❤️❤️
Imagine how the 19th and early 20th century paleontologists would react to this
There’s so much to say about this scene, but I’m gonna say this: it is arguably one of, if not *the*, most important scenes in cinema history. This scene showed just how powerful and how realistic CGI had become to the world and more importantly to filmmakers. Thousands, tens of thousands, of people suddenly realized that all those movies that they’d always wanted to make but couldn’t because the technology didn’t exist to make them in any satisfying way, were shown in the most dramatic way that it was *finally possible*.
This is a scene that made a million dreams instantly come true, or at least become possible.
This movie is actually pretty mediocre and this scene is easily the worst and most annoying. Bad take.

The thirty seconds from 2:00 on are the absolute peak of Steven Spielberg's and John Williams' exceptional careers
The moment I fully understand the power of cinema
And the fractional pause before “I’ll show you” is the absolute cherry on the cake
And John Williams is an absolute, indescribable genius
This movie is 29 years old and this CGI is wonderful.

They didn’t use CGI, it’s all trained dinosaurs actually

@@LordDinoBoy Look who I stumbled across, While watching a Jurassic Park video greetings Dino Boy.
Honestly a cinematic masterpiece. The way it gives you time to process the joy and wonder after first seeing the first dino and how it just slowly adds more. Then, in true John Williams genius, all the sections of the orchestra that have been seamlessly woven in come together as he says "welcome to Jurassic park". This scene is breathe taking incarnate.
Somehow, describing John Williams as a genius is like saying Einstein was smart. John Williams works at a supernatural level of talent and words cannot adequately describe how truly skilled he is.
@@CurtZilbersher Well said, my friend. You're absolutely right. To borrow your analogy, Williams is the Einstein of music.

I just love the way Sam Neill delivers "it's a dinosaur". It's like a wonderstruck child seeing his favorite toy come to life.
2:02 he sounds like he can’t quite believe it either, it’s beautiful
When he says "welcome… to Jurassic Park" it’s so perfectly acted… at first, Hammond looks almost cocky, but when says this, he gazes upon the same miracle and it’s like he still can’t believe it himself.
What a scene lol

One of the most iconic movies and moments of human history. No matter how many times I see it, it's like I'm seeing it for the first time,, specially this moment.

Same. One month shy of 6. Just saw in theaters for the 30th anniversary re-release. Hasn't lost one bit of the magic it had when I was 5.
I cant watch this scene without getting emotional, the music, the looks of amazement on there faces, the emotion shared between them as they witness a real living dinosaur walk earth. Shot so beautifully if I could pick one movie to experience for the first time again its this
I'm studying to be a paleontologist, and I know I'd feel the exact same way if I were them.
Seriously, this scene is in my mind the most epic I have seen in cinema till 1993. I was 13 and seeing this makes me emotional. When that dinosaur walks by I felt the whole theatre shaking, boom...boom...boom. Goosebumps.

There are few moments that will never fail to send you back to being a 6 year old, some words that will always make you smile. Seeing that Brachiosaurus for the first time never fails. Hearing "we have a T-Rex", and "Their moving in herds..they DO move in herds." Will always make a 90's kids smile.
The synchronization of the musical score with the imagery. The leaf being bitten off. The long, drawn out notes as the viewer anticipates the brachiosaur’s feet landing on the ground causing a tremor ending with the music’s climax. Just perfect 👌
One of my absolute favorite movie scenes. I grin like a 5 year old kid and get almost teary-eyed. Can you IMAGINE working in paleontology all your life, then seeing that? Awestruck wonder like you very rarely feel as an adult.

I'll NEVER forget the moment I first saw this scene on the big screen. It was a small town theatre in Kerala, India in the Summer of '94...🥰
I'd just turned 7yrs old a couple of weeks before and that kid had tears in his eyes with a big smile plastered across his face. Eyes wide, hair on end and heart pounding so hard. The moment the Brachiosaurus's feet hit the ground (1:35) the seats in that little theatre rattled...🤩

My daughter is obsessed with Jurassic Park/World and dinos in general. She's 6. We watched this movie for the first time when she was 4. I cried during this scene, couldn't help it. Not just the power of the scene, but getting to share that with my child, a new generation, and seeing her reaction....while knowing my own reaction 30 years ago....it was too much. Tears flowing as soon as he says "my dear Dr. Sattler..." and my kid turns around like "daddy why are you crying???" 🤣

As a 90’s kid, I can confirm this scene took my breath away just as everyone else who saw this in the theater. after 65 million years this scene finally revived the Dinosaurs.
2:23 the moment when Grant turns his head, and you hear the other brachiosaurs (matched with John Williams’ rousing soundtrack ) , builds up so much excitement in a second, and is the perfect precursor to the awe inspiring picture of the dinosaurs around the lake.
"They're moving in herds. They DO move in herds."
There's something about that particular line that just makes you want to smile and cry at the same time.
