My Sony 20-70mm is my most used lens. I bring it on every trip as my one lens and use it the most in the studio. It’s a workhorse. I only wish it was 18mm. The focal length matters to me more than the aperture.
2 years ago I had a couple drinks in me, I made a shitty comment and the next day I realized it and apologized to you. You were incredibly gracious and forgiving. I became a huge fan then and have been ever since. It BLOWS MY MIND not only how talented and creative you were then but, have gotten more and m ore talented and creative like the shots in this video. I just wanted you know how much of a good guy I think you are, which is WAY more important than being a good Cinematographer but you sir.......ARE BOTH! Bravo. Bo
My dude! Thank you so much. Also I’ve gotta say, being able to admit when you’re wrong says SO much about your character. It’s a rare trait in people and one that I value a lot. Believe me, I’ve been an asshole and spoken out of line many times in my life!
Yep!! Been shooting with those exacts Tamrons on my Fx6 and 3 and A7 IV for the last year and a half! Love the look out of S-Cinetone and now Slogging off them both.
Great video, Jesse. I always love your creativity - you just see things differently to everyone else! I totally agree with you on the GO 3. I use mine a tonne!
Just picked up the insta go 3 and I’m exited to use it. I find that I want to put my phone in small places, but it’s just slightly too big so we’ll see how the go 3 slots in 👀
Love this video - I too have the same love/hate with the 20-40 and I probably need to get the 35-150, it seems Like I would use it more then my 70-180 tamron. I would LOVE to see you review the Laowa 10 2.8 AF for Sony. I bet you would have a lot of fun with that lens.
Yea. I have the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 and ill never get rid of it as of right now. I am a rodeo / western lifestyle photographer, and it's the best lens I've ever owned. Yea I'm sure or, I know there are better lenses out there especially since I have the Sony a7r4 which I do want to upgrade to the a7r5 or Sony a9iii, but I haven't found or want to spend the money on those better lenses. Anyhow, love your videos. Keep 'em coming.
My top 2 lenses are the Sony 16-35 g master II and the Tamron 35-150 they get everything I need currently if I was to add one more it would be a 150-600 equivalent
As always, you somehow produce such an engaging video everytime that they demand multiple back to back to back re-watches.Not only for the wisdom you dispense but because I can sometimes recognize the local background areas .Was there a scene shot inside the old Jackson Square mall / Eaton center part where you dropped a parachute? Also Recognized some of the exterior elevated shots around your studio .Minus the hobos camping on the north side of the building by the tracks .I routinely ride bicycle past the studio and always do a lap around back to maybe one day spot you and say hi .Cheers to you good sir 🍻
Yeah that’s the old mall beside Jackson square. We got access for a day to film in there before it was demolished, super fun! I’m sure we’ll link up one of these days haha
@@JesseDriftwood doesn't the 35-150 already cover that focal length? Ideally a one lens solution would be something like a 20-150 f2-2.8 under 1.5 kg. Hopefully we get something like that in the near future.
It does cover that yes, but I use the lenses for very different purposes, and rarely don't pack both. I just landed in Maldives for a project and only brought the Sony 14mm and the 35-150.
And again, Im still here to recommend Action 2 for an actioncam solution, just purely on image quality :) It would be good to have dedicated wireless monitor.
id agree but I chose the Samyang over the Tamron solely based on it being parfocal and I need that for video. Also, the color rendering is more neutral vs Tamron's warmer tones. definitely different not major changes but definitely some that make a difference for some video cowboys@@JesseDriftwood
also tamron does have the 17-70 f2.8 mark 3 lens as well versus that f4 lens you had mentioned in the video, im sure you knew tho, im tired, its too early @@JesseDriftwood
@@MnFilmCO Oh that’s interesting, I didn’t know about it being parfocal! The other tamron you had mentioned is for APSC, they recently made a full frame 17-50 f4 that’s interesting, but I think I’d rather have 70 over 17.
i didn't know that it was apsc but Samyang being parfocal is definitely very sick tho! just makes it a little more interesting, definitely test one out or do a comparison test between the two.@@JesseDriftwood
Gotta love this alternative roundup :) But the audio from the dji mic in the sponsored segment is such a harsh reminder of how bad it is out of the box :/ I bought it the day it came out since I *needed* a wireless mic, and the røde option was way overkill with two mics, but the quality straight out of the mic was so muffled with my voice I had to make a video about it, also because the bluetooth connectivity straight to smartphone they pushed heavily turned out to be a no-go with both internal recording disabled when connected to iphones, and the quality was worse than my sony headset :/ Really not what I expected from a version 2 of a Dji product … fixable with some EQ, but certainly not a good first impression for my first dji product, especially when I discovered that most creator «reviews» just glossed over the audio quality shortcomings out of the box and the lack of backup recording when using bluetooth to smartphone.
Yeah I really don’t like the sound out of the internal mic’s, but sometimes I’m lazy and don’t feel like running a lav. I haven’t tried the version 2 of the DJI set.
@@JesseDriftwood Yeah I know that feeling, spent like half an hour just fidling with EQ to find a setup that sort of removes the cotton sound and boosts the clarity without sounding too harsh. From what I can hear the dji 1 and 2 has almost no difference in sound out of the box, my guess is the big selling point of the dji mic 2 was the bluetooth connectivity to pocket 3 and the action cam and the internal 32 bit float recording, with the added «bonus» of smartphone connectivity, which is unusable since it’s handsfree quality bluetooth telephone sound *and* it doesn’t work with internal recording at all (which could have saved the bad bluetooth audio by syncing the backup recording in post, but no go). So I think the mic part of the dji mic 2 is exactly the same as on the dji mic 1, and the only addition is the internal recording and bluetooth, so not much to write home about, and the shielding is probably not better either - but it fixes some issues for me filming around the workshop and moving away from the camera at times so it’s «fine», but yeah, better hold out for the 3 :)
That’s interesting, discovered you’ve left Twitter. Suggest removing that link from your bio. Ok, now for the real question why do you have duplicate genius links for different retailers? I thought a prime purpose of genius link was to limit how many hyperlinks you need to manage and allow viewers to select from the pop up what retailer they’d like to go to. Were you having poor followthrough based on that?
Oh wow I totally forgot about the twitter link haha! And the affiliate stuff I’m honestly just an idiot about. I find it so boring and uninteresting that I can’t bring myself to optimize it. Right now one should be for BH and one should be for Amazon based on people’s preferences. I think genius will relocate Amazon links to the correct country but that’s it. Might be wrong!
The Sony Xperia 1 MkV is a better camera phone than the iPhone, it even has a dedicated shuttrr button and is the ONLY phone I've found that doesn't drop frames or start weird variable framerate bullshit. I can record continuous 4K120 S-Cinetone 100Mbit until my 1tb SD card fills up.
I really wish Canon would stop throwing a hissy fit over third party companies making lenses for their RF mount. I would love to own that 35-150mm f2-2.8 if given the chance.
Literally none of that was sponsored. You think canon is paying me to talk about a 12 year old camera that I over paid for? Or DJI to talk about how their mic’s don’t work with specific cameras? What planet are you living on?

OMG, this intro deserves more appreciation!

Putting the SAUCE into the intro. My word. Incredible!

literally sold my 70-200 a few weeks ago for the 35-150 for all the reasons you mentioned! LOVING IT!
Damn Jesse! Dope intro 👏🏼 Great to see you back in my feed!

Great video, Jesse. I always love your creativity - you just see things differently to everyone else! I totally agree with you on the GO 3. I use mine a tonne!
I bought the Tamron 35 to 150, it’s a beautiful lens. Got it for my sons Travel volleyball matches.
I love the 35-150 so so much! I also love my A7iv when pairing the two. go into crop and the 150 becomes a 225mm! Ok coming down to get my a7iv now!
I sold the DJI Mic for the exact same reason with my FX3. Happy with the Rode wireless pro! Awesome video and awesome gear listed here!
Jesse your videos are pure gold. Mindblowing creatively every time. Thank you.
I love to search this dude across the YT looking for what new he did 😁 nice to learn from you!

I paired the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 with the Sony 16-35mm f4 powerzoom and really like that combination
dang, that intro is so good.
I’ve loved my 35-150 since getting it back in 2021! Love the lens for everything! Made me sell my primes haha
I watch every Jesse intro like it's an episode of Penn & Teller: Fool us. Always so creative and tricksy.
Love my C-100
Look forward to these videos so much dude. Rock on!!
The DJI mics have been a lifesaver for me doing weddings. I've had to rig up some weird ways a few times but they made it work.
Honestly the c100 mkii was and still is a freaking workhorse

The INTRO BEAST strikes again 😎
The Sigma 16-28 might be a better lens to pair with the 35-150 over the 20-70 or the 20-40
It might be, but I don’t like how limiting 28 feels. It still feels like a wide angle whereas 40 feels like a new lens.

Sony lenses will be more stable with IBIS and active stabilization than third party lenses. You can find comparisons online.
