In a bunch of interviews Su has said that this was her favorite song on the album and the one she was most excited to show audiences. As for her vocal strength it recently came out that she practices her singing while running on a treadmill in order to be able to dance and sing with such power. And after seeing them live its even more impressive. I've been a Babymetal fan for so long now and still am amazed to see them dripping sweat and working so hard during every concert, and loving every minute of being on stage.

When you come out of the venue after a BABYMETAL concert you are exhausted, sweaty, tired ... and you have the biggest grin on your face having just had the best time of your life and snatches of all the songs will keep appearing in your head (they are all catchy). Trust me - I was at this show.

    - This would be a Japanese band featuring a Swedish-Czech vocalist performing a rendition of a Finnish folk song with Irish choreography in the UK. I didn't think something could be so diverse lol
    - I believe "Oh! Maginai" translates to "Oh! This can't be good." "Majinai" can also be translated to “curse” as well. I believe this is meant to be a pun in Japanese. "Majinai" or "Omajinai" is something like curse, paternoster, mantra. In other words, “Maji” is: "serious, seriously, not joking", and “Nai” is: "can’t find, nothing, no way". When a Japanese person is looking for something very seriously, they may mumble “ Nai. Nai. Nai..... Maji Nai!” Someone please correct me if I am wrong, this was after a little bit of research.
    - Their entire Metal Galaxy album (which is what "Oh! Majinai" is from) has a lot of very experimental music in it. There is a song where Su-Metal straight up has a rap battle (oh yeah, she can rap too) and it is heavy as fuck, it's called "BxMxC", there is also a Hindu/Indian inspired song called "Shanti Shanti Shanti", and I believe "Night Night Burn" has some kind of Latin inspiration as well. Idk, that whole album is way way different in the best possible way. (PS: If you do react to BxMxC, it is well worth your time to check out the Music Video AND the Live version as the MV is dope but the live version is far more impressive vocally)
    - Yuimetal is the member who left, Moametal is the one still in the band and she is the one with the really long pigtails on the right side for most of this video.
    - Fun fact: Su-Metal said this is one of her favorite songs to perform.
    - Su-Metal turns 23 this month. Women don't typically hit their vocal maturity until their late 20s or early 30s. Imagine how good she will sound then, it's unfair really.
    - Upload the "Road of Resistance" reaction somewhere else, I would love to see it. Post a link to a Google Drive or Vimeo upload of it or something, please.

95% of BABYMETAL songs are uplifting and full of energy....You will spend the rest of the day full of joy. Then there are some emotional ballads, some dark songs, and definitely one sad but still heavy song, "Starlight", which most believe is for Mikio Fujioka , an amazing guitarist in the band, who died recently and was an avid stargazer.

HA! The look on your face when the video came on was priceless. The dance was one of the more difficult ones according to Moametal. She talked about how bruised her feet got doing it. Babymetal has the unique ability to take genres from around the world and turn it into something great. Their last album, Metal Galaxy, combined a lot of genres from around the world, so most songs have a very unique feel to them.

I feel bad for Su and Moa now. . . Su doesn't get the breaks she used to with Black Babymetal and Moa still gets breaks on Su Solo's, but the sheer amount of dancing and choreo she has to do is overwhelming! The avengers get to switch out . . Moa is ALWAYS in! . . . If tours get long that can really take it's toll on them . . .I wonder why they don't let the Avengers sing? Most likely due to Moa and Yui originally being picked for voice compatibility to each other and Su perhaps? We know all 3 avengers can certainly sing well enough for back up parts. . Kitsunes up!

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Koba, the producer of BABYMETAL, loves word play and puns a lot. "Oh! Majinai" comes from Japanese word "omajinai" which means a good luck charm or magical spell. But if you separate this title into two parts you will find different meaning. When young generation here in Japan says "maji nai", it means "seriously impossible" or categorical denial / rejection.I witnessed the world premiere of this song at Makuhari, Japan on Jan. 25 this year and dropped my jaw 10 times.

A long time ago and even some time before that, beyond the vast METAL GALAXY there existed a metal paradise. This metal paradise was a place filled with the love of heavy metal, where all metalheads could take off their metal armor and return to being children again. And that place was called PARADISE METAL GALAXY. A place invisible to adults, a Treasured Dream Island. However, all adults were warned to never set foot onto this land as they would be cursed with the Spell of Unattainable Desire.
"Welcome! Please come closer!" said the overly excited Fox from the North, and lured the Winterland Metal Warrior to set foot onto the forbidden land. Immediately thereafter, the Fox from the North casted the Spell of Unattainable Desire, which forced the Metal Warrior to uncontrollably dance to what was known as the SHAKARIKI MOSH'SH. The other metal warriors who witnessed this scene were disgusted, complaining that "this isn't heavy metal at all."
Just as they were complaining about this, they were hit by the same spell and to their dismay, they had their arms around each other's shoulders, uncontrollably dancing to the SHAKARIKI MOSH'SH and this paradise would spread into the METAL GALAXY...

Actually Suzuka (Su-metal) had explained in some interview that she likes Sabaton a lot and that she usually listens to it when she travels from her hometown of Hiroshima to Tokyo to work.
Man I'm loving your Babymetal reactions. Isn't there a way we can watch the Road of Resistance one? Google Drive link or something like this?
Oh and the music and the choreo are clearly russian looking, with all they soviet imagery in the background and the ressemblance of the music and the dance to the _kalinka_ and cossack dances.
Metal Galaxy, their last album (past week just won MTV Japan best 2020 album overall btw) explores all kinds of folk metal from different countries on its first half. Oh Majinai is Eastern Europe.

Our Queen Su has said that this was her favourite song to perform on this tour. 'Majinai' means, broadly, 'magic' - there's the other superb Japanese band, Band-Maid, who have a 'Majinai Time' break in the middle of their performance which the girl who presents it, Miku, always says that 'Majinai Time' means 'Magic Spell Time'.

Man, we would really love it if you could upload that "Road of Resistance" reaction somehow. I know other reactors put it on a different platform and create a UA-cam video redirecting viewers there, but many also seem to get away with just blurring or obscuring the video a bit, and making sure to interrupt the audio intermittently. Technically, if you are making an analysis and review, you should be allowed to play the content. But I guess if someone is just showing the whole thing without any breaks, Amuse can argue that there's no real review going on, just copyright infringement. And they do have a point, I think. If people just want to watch the performance and listen to the music, they should go to the official channel and make sure the band gets their revenue. The reason you're getting blocked instead of just demonetized is probably because the DVD's of that show is still selling quite well, and the video on their channel is probably only available regionally (which you would essentially be bypassing by presenting it on your channel).
You could also link to the video and have us sync up with you. That way you do not have to even include the material in your reaction. The tricky part here is that you can't pause too much, or it will be a pain for us to stay in sync. So in this particular case it might be too late for that solution.

    BABYMETAL 101
Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Babymetal Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

    Metal Galaxy Era
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
    Music Videos of this Era
    Pa Pa Ya
    Elevator Girl
    Shanti Shanti
    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it.
    COVID Era
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger.

The dancing is a mix of Irish, Germanic, and Russian styles. If you like the authentic touch to the cultures they are paying tribute to, you may enjoy "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti," from the same album as this one. They sing partly in Hindi, and do some authentic Indian Bollywood-style dance moves!
The best way to tell the girls apart nowadays is that Su-Metal always wears a ponytail, and Moa-Metal always wears pigtails, at least when in their BABYMETAL costumes. The Avengers, who are a trio of dancers who rotate in Yui-Metal's old spot, since she left BABYMETAL, always wear their hair straight in the back, with buns on the side. The Avenger in this one is Momoko-Metal (Momoko Okazaki). Moa sings backup and primarily dances (she has a couple leads, too, and is nearly as amazing a singer as Su), so she always has a headset mic on, too. The Avengers don't sing, which is sad, because they are every bit as much trained idols as Su and Moa (and all but one of them were fellow members of Sakura Gakuin with Su and Moa).

Great reaction to a fun song (you will find you smile a lot when watching BabyMetal as that's what they do, make you feel happy). I think for your next reaction you need to go back to one of their earliest songs, Doki Doki Morning (2011) when they were very young (Su was 14 and Yui and Moa were 12/13) or Megitsune which has one the most brutal breakdowns I have heard.
Keep up the good work, Ray.

I remember seeing some Russian fancam footage that I liked even more, the Russian audience was having a blast.

For Road of Resistance - uniquely - the only thing that matters to the copyright check is the video, the audio is not a factor. Other reactors who show the video in a window have been able to cover the window, or blur it, or use a watermark and have been able to post their reactions in the past few months (since RoR changed from being completely unrestricted). This isn't quite as easy for you since you have it fullscreen behind you, but if you overlaid a _large_ watermark or blurring effect outside of where you appear - perhaps in a wide bar across the screen just below your logo and above your head - you should be able to post it on your channel as well.

One way to beat the blocks is stopping about every 45 seconds and adding "content", then rewinding a bit. Another method is to put a watermark over the video. One other way is to cover a larger portion of the screen. Also, be sure to mark the video as non-monetized through You Tube and that all revenues go to the owners of the video.
Amuse is notorious for their copyright strikes. You have to wonder if they know how many people have learned about their bands through You Tube.

Their version of "Irish" dancing looks a lot like Slavic dancers trying to do an Irish dance. I don't mean that in a critical way, but I think ballet and eastern European dance is incorporated into their training, but Irish dance styles are not. Lots of good fun, either way.

I'd say, Babymetal is not "Cute (Kawaii) Metal", they are "happy metal" ;) As a native Japanese, their lyrics were the first thing needed to be overcome (especially Gimme choc, Ijime , Dame, Zettai, and this, Oh!Majinai - this is one of my favourite BM song tho;)) way too childish and full of silliness lol But since I focus on Kami band's music and Su's voice and expression, lyrics never bothered me again. Now I understand her voice touches directly to listener's soul, that's why they are so much loved by non Japanese speakers. Try Trilogy of Lights (starlight - shine - Arkadia) for current Su's vocal ability :))

As you commented, this is a European style, for sure. Which country? It is contentious. I heard many opinions. Irish says that comes from Irish dance. Russian says it is Russian style and the images of Joakim on the screen indicates that. Polish claims this song has Polish flavor. Swedish raises a question if you know which country Joakim is from. And Czech points out influence from Polka. From a neutral position as a Japanese, I can say this is Europe-ish. ヽ(^o^)丿 No? 有難う💛。
