Great reaction. Guest vocalist is Joakim Broden from the Swedish band Sabaton (so not quite as Irish as you were thinking), the melody is based on a Finnish polka, the choreo may have some Irish elements as well as some Russian or eastern European ... basically I think it is safe to say this one is a real mix of cultures.
Joakim has said they kept making him go harder and harder when he was recording his bits (he doesn't normally sound quite as harsh) and he had to give his voice a rest afterwards.
He probably recorded his parts in 2018 - Sabaton opened for BABYMETAL at the Dark Night Carnival at the end of October 2018 (along with Galactic Empire and 3 of them have become the Kami Band of the West since then) ... if you get to see 'Meta Taro' from those shows Joakim and Darth Vader joined Su and Moa on stage - you really need to see Moa trying to get Darth Vader to dance, it's hilarious.
As for the meaning of the song - its just a fun one I think, but when they played it for the very first time at the Legend Metal Galaxy concerts the kamishibai (intro video) was along the lines of there being an island hidden to the view of adults, but if adults stepped ashore they would be put under a spell to dance forever in the Shakariki mosh.
The metal warrior from the north stepped ashore and his crew, being disgusted saying "this wasn't real metal", followed him and were hit by the spell and were horrified when they found themselves with their arms round each others shoulders uncontrollably dancing.
It was something like that anyway ... like I said, its just one of their fun songs.
You are the Babymetal encyclopedia 😅 I see your comment on all the Babymetal reaction bro 👍
@@Altobar76 Just passing on what I've learned from people who know more than I do.🙂
@@Grington300 I definitely learn a lot everytime I read you 🙏
@@Altobar76 Thanks its always good to hear it has helped somebody.
Babymetal returned the favour on Sabatons latest tour… it was fucking incredible both acts… lets not forget Lordi as the opening act aswell
This was a collaboration with Sabaton lead singer Joakim Broden. Sabaton is a metal band from Sweden whose subject matter is war stories.
Majinai took a while to grownup me, what clinched it was the clear joy in their performance and choreography.
And the drums, like a trip hammer beating away.
It's my thoughts everytime I heard a new Babymetal song 😅
It's a great song, silly and carefree
I love this song so much. The dancing is amazing, and the vibes are immaculate! It's funny that Shanti Shanti Shanti and Oh! Majinai are some of their most experimental, but definitely at the top of my favourites.
Moa being Moa @6:33. She is just too adorable and always finds extra ways to entertain us. The Avenger (at the time) is Momoko. This song is one of Su's favorites to sing and perform. You can see why. They all look like they are having a ton of fun dancing around. Moa did say this was a hard dance and hurts their feet though. Yes the song is short and repetitious. I see fans complain about that, but to me this song is just plain FUN. I also think Su sounds beautiful when she hits those high notes during the breakdown area. Like hauntingly beautiful.
Some fans may not enjoy it too much but no one can deny the fun crowds seem to have when they sing it. 🤘🦊🤘
Can’t stop the power of BABYMETAL. 🦊 🖖 ❤
Yes, the Avenger in this show was Momoko!
Whenever you see a performance in this round stage with that amazing Light show, it's the Budokan 2021 series of shows. At that time, Momoko was the only avenger left and only she performed there with Su and Moa!!
I love this song more than I should. Fans generally seem to hate Oh Majinai along with most of their fun experimental stuff, which is unfortunate because I would never want them to stop doing that due to lack of support.
Metal Galaxy as a whole is an underrated gem, but maybe in the future some people will look back and find the musical sense of that album
@@BeccaVinesz Yeah, a lot of fans consider Metal Galaxy their worst album. But I completely disagree: I like it more than Metal Resistance!!
It's just to repetitive on the album, but amazing fun live ! That's the extend of my 'hate' and that probably goes for a lot of fans.
@@BlackArr0w Same, I think the albums are a representation as their progress as artists and each one of them represent a state, 1 album was the business card and beginning of Kawaii Metal and its experimentation, 2 album brought overall a more solid message (also a challenge for their haters) and blend of traditional Metal and its subgenres, 3 album showed their artistic diversity and a love letter to music in general, all styles in such a profissional way but never being boring or being overdone in complexity of composition, 4 album is a personal album after all these states them as artists evolve to a new level of self-awareness and production, experimentation and fanbase analysis where they just can fully relax and expose themselves in their most genuine form not only SU-METAL, MOA-METAL & MOMO-METAL but a perfect blend, and I can't wait for the new album to see them evolving again.
@@autohmae but the repetitiveness is what makes it funny. It approaches the point of being annoying but stops just short of that line. I know it depends on where that line is for people. It's like iine. That song is cringe af but it still doesn't quite cross that line for me. Pushing that envelope is what is so fun about them.
The translation is all over the place(wrong). Oh! Majinai is a play on words from the Japanese omajinai (おまじない) which means "magic spell" or like saying "abracadabra" or an incantation.
Nai (ない) usually means "not ", but in this case it could just be a verbalization of the last syllable of Omajinai repeated. The lyrics,
It's hard, it's hard, I can't find it
たいへんだ たいへんだ みつからない
Come out! Please!
出てきてよ! お願い!
Nothing! I don't care!
なんでもない! 気にしない!
It's a waste!
もったいない! おまじない!
And
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, we've hit a dead end
No where to go, let's make a wish!
Help me please! Please! Save me please! Please!
Please, please, oh, please! Oh! Majinai"
It would seem they pertain to a situation where she's wishing on/with magic to help her out of said situation. There's not much else to the lyrics other than "nai nai nai" over and over again. So "nai nai nai" could be a verbalization, or it could be the magic spell (Omajinai) isn't working (nai nai nai).
Shakariki mosh! 🦊🤘👯♀️👯♂️
The singer is the vocal leader of Sabaton, Babymetal make the first part of all Sabaton concert all across Europe last year.
This song is connected to Babymetal's lore and the story that came along with the song's debut at Legend - Metal Galaxy Day 1 which tells of a fairy tale of a magical island.
Which Avenger? Yes, it is Momoko. This is from 2021 after all. Kano and Riho both left 2020.
Oh, Majinai is so fun to listen and to watch. Such a great vibe 😁
And about all the worldwide styles mixed in, prepare for SAMBA (with a mix of some SALSA) for "Night Night Burn" 😁
European folk metal by a Japanese Kawaii metal band featuring a Swedish metal frontman. Talk about a melting pot👊🏽⚡️ It is an American concept. Babymetal is literally and figuratively all over the map🦊🤘🏾
This is indeed Momoko. Riho and Kano had since moved on to other projects by the time the 10 Babymetal Budokan concerts were held.
Being a Sabaton and BABYMETAL fan, this was fantastic
There's definitely Irish influence here, as they are doing the Irish Jig, especially at the point you pointed out, but I think most of the song is more of a Russian Leaning song. As for you saying Babymetal being the best thing happening to you, I agree, they've helped me out going through a lot of very difficult times through their music. I owe them a great deal.
My favorite song on Metal Galaxy. Can't wait till he gets to Night Night Burn.
Oh!Majinai:-
This song can be considered as Pirate Or Folk Metal. But it is based on Finland 🇫🇮 Pollka or Levan Pollka. It also incorporates Irish 🍀 Jig and a bit of The Russian 🇷🇺 Cossack dance, also known as Kazachok or Kozachok dance, in Ukraine 🇺🇦 Hopak dance, or squat dance.

Joakim Brodén, lead singer of Sabaton, and featured artist on “Oh! MAJINAI” from METAL GALAXY, talks a bit about the process of recording for it.
He says that while they were playing opening for BABYMETAL in Japan 🇯🇵 in 2018 he was having a great time with the band and crew and they said they were doing “something new” and asked him to join.
He recorded his part in Osaka, Japan 🇯🇵 in between the shows in Saitama (Dark Night Carnival) and Kobe (x2).
He also says he almost lost his voice, because they were asking for “more power” from him.

If you like the crossovers of Babymetal I can only suggest "Kingslayer" from Bring me the Horizon ft. Babymetal. Amazing song!

Oh Majima !!! !
Babymetal has a Swedish man singing a Finnish reference with Irish music.
ありがとうございます🤘🦊♪
Sabaton!!! Joakim Broden is the lead singer for the band. They are Scandinavian power metal focused on war songs and history. Think current day "Viking Bards" singing about heroes and honor. Each song is based on a historical event. They literally have their own history channel on UA-cam with their own historian going over a battle or event. Size wise, Sabaton is one of the biggest "current" metal bands in Euprope. Babymetal has toured with them two or three times. The Babymetal 2023 tour in Europe (just now ending??) is with Sabaton. Thus Babymetal and Sabaton go way back as far as 2016. Check out Sabaton. You will not regret it. Recommend "Bismarck" which is my all time favorite. Or check out the newest video drop "1916" which references Motorhead.
If you have doubts if the avenger that is is Momo or not, you can look at the date, from March 2020 until she was chosen as an official member in April 2023 Momometal was the only avenger. Since this video is from 2021, you can be sure that it is about Okazaki Momoko. Kano Fujihira stopped helping as an avenger in January 2020 and Riho Sayashi in February of the same year.
KINGSLAYER by Bring me The Horizon ft. BABYMETAL is worth a reaction!
Great reaction, thanks!
Metal Galaxy's light side is probably my least favorite group of BABYMETAL songs. With that said, this is so much fun, not to mention this is Su-metal's favorite son from the album.

👍 👍
"What is this ? It's amazing." of course, it's Babymetal. 🙂
It's' a bit repetitive on the album of course, but works very well live.
