⚡ 💕 / 🏴 ☠️ This is a big favorite of Su-metal’s. She was really looking forward to having fans see this one. I imagine they had a lot of fun learning the choreography.
Great reaction. Sabaton opened for BABYMETAL in Japan in late October 2018. Sadly that was before this song was recorded and released so they never got to play it live together, but Joakim Broden and Darth Vader (from Galactic Empire, the other opening band) did join Su and Moa on stage during the song 'Meta Taro'. That is another folk style song and another of Su's favourites ... and so worth watching that performance if only to see Moa trying to get Darth Vader to dance.
Folk metal and Joakim Broden (without singing but showing up on stage) have been there since several years before this song, and along with this song is one of the SuMetal favorite songs, btw she's been doing this since 12 with Sakura Gakuin and BabyMetal but she's been training since a toddler, like 7 yo and she was already on a sensational group rockin out huge venues with Karen Girl's, yeah she's no joke, she knows the business and that's why she become a queen since a very young age. As always love your reaction and I'm sure you will be love in Japan, just like we love and support BabyMetal. Kitsune up 🦊🤘❤️
Every song on the Metal Galaxy album is completely different from every other song on the Metal Galaxy album. PA PA YA!! Brand New Day BxMxC OH Majinai In The Name Of. . . Starlight Distortion All different. That's why BABYMETAL is so awesome.
Thanks for the amazing reaction to BABYMETAL!! Yeah, you can have so much fun with this song, it's so good!! They have their song Shanti Shanti, which has Indian music incorporated or their song Night Night Burn, which has hispanic roots. Thanks again!!
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。After the world premiere of this song on Jan. 25, 2020 (I was there !), Su and Moa complained jokingly that every audience did not see them dancing but watched gigantic Joakim on the backdrop 😄 . This song is a little bit controversial. Many European fans are claiming the origin of this song. Irish, Russian, Swedish, Polish, Czech and Finnish. From a neutral position as a Japanese, I can say this is Europe-ish 😄 . "Oh!Majinai" has dual meanings. Japanese word "omajinai" simply means a good luck charm or magical spell. But if you separate the word into two parts you will find different meaning. "Maji nai" means "seriously impossible" or "absolutely no". FYI. When this song was performed in St. Petersburg (Feb.28, 2020) and Moscow (Mar.1), tens of hyped Russian audiences did shoulder-to-shoulder circle pits. And a guy in St. Petersburg danced Cossack style in the center of the pit. That was hilarious 😄
Allways expect the unexpected from BabyMetal because they still catch us long time fans of them out . Your in for more surprises as your BabyMetal journey continues. Great join in with the dancing and singing song for fans .😁🤘🦊🤘
Thanks for this reaction by the blue-eyes Russian/American, as mentioned before Babymetal has a very diverse discography 🙂 5:11 it's a backing track, honestly we don't really know. Sabaton have a festival called Sabaton Open Air in Sweden, they invited Babymetal in 2014 when Babymetal had their first world tour, but Babymetal couldn't fit it in their schedule. So they've known each other and kept in contact for a long time. Sabaton opened in Japan for Babymetal in 2017 around the time of Halloween, lots of fans went wearing cosplay and other costumes (some dressed like tanks, etc.). And when they were there Joakim also recorded some quick vocals. Su-metal was asked for a metal magazine to talk about her favorite album of 2019, she Sabaton Great War: "I tend to listen to this album in the mornings, because Joakim's [Brodén, Sabaton singer] powerful vocals encourage me to push forward and achieve something great every day. But listening to it on the train is dangerous because I get into the groove too much and then I tend to miss the stops I'm supposed to get off at!"
"Shanti Shanti Shanti" has an Indian vibe, "Pa Pa Ya!!" has a Thai rapper, and "Meta Taro" has kind of a Celtic/Irish/Scottish feel. Those are the others that come to mind, but there's probably one or more I'm forgetting.
The best Metal song ever about chanting "Nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai..." !🦊I wasn't sure about this song at first but when I saw them perform it live in Cardiff, Wales, UK in Feb 2020, I found myself happily chanting "Nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai, nai." along with the other 2000 people there easily enough! All 3 of the ladies looked like they were having a lot of fun performing it too. 3:30 - While you're right about them needing big audiences for these lavish production shows, just to offset costs, they tend to do smaller venues when they're outside Japan. I saw them in a university hall that held 2000 standing only and they just had a projection screen behind them for images (like Joakim) but they were still magnificent and did a 1 hour set (almost to the minute) but played 12 songs - pretty non-stop and energeticAF. Oh, and it cost just £35 (about $50 US)! 🦊🤘🤘🦊
@@willemgreyling5857Yes it was! I compiled a 38 minute video of the gig from various fan cams. Have a look and maybe you can spot yourself! Kitsune up! ua-cam.com/video/juqiTXJ0ruA/v-deo.html 🦊🤘
To answer your question about how they afford the stages...merch. Babymetal holds multiple records for most merch sold at a show. We arrived at the LA Forum show 90 minutes before curtain and some of the shirts and flags were already sold out. Also, the two tickets on the mezzanine were over $500. Amuse grew Babymetal very gradually (from a show production standpoint). The big shows didn't come until after the two nights at Budakan. Once they were selling out multiple night in arenas the funding for future shows become easier.
So the dance in particular is Scandinavian based to honor Joakim Broden Swedish heritage. I'm a fan of Babymetal Karate also Sabaton has a new song out called Soldier of Heaven. I also love to visit Japan they are the Emperors of Outlandishness.
A major strength of Babymetal and most Japanese bands is they don't repeat like so many western bands. Too many western bands, you know who it is in the first 4 cords. To understand Su-Metal you need to put Suzuka Nakamoto into search and see her videos from when she was at the School of Acting, Hiroshima. Singing solo, with her sister in Tweens and her in Karen's Girls. She has even performed in a stage play, twice. One other must must is the Yui and Moa audition video, warning you may suffer cuteness overload. FYI gorgeous is Moa!! Su's grandparents were survivors of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in WWII.
About (maybe not even) packing your bags: "Please learn the set list in 48 hours." That's what Floor did when she joined Nightwish. It's also the name of a documentary about that tour.
When they performed this song in Russia, the Pit formed a circle, arms around shoulders, with people in the center doing the classic Russian cossack dance. Other songs that borrow from geographical musical influences: Shanti Shanti Shanti > Middle to Near Eastern. Originally called "Indian Metal" on setlists. Night Night Burn > Latin America. Think Miami Sound Machine Metal Meta Taro > Nordic. Similiar to Oh! Majinai. Su-metal's favorite song on Metal Resistance. Oh Majinai is her favorite on Metal Galaxy PaPaya > Thailand > Includes Thai dance elements, traditional Thai instruments, and a Thai Rapper.
This song was clearly inspired by the Finnish Ievan polkka and by similar polka traditions from the Scandinavian peninsula and Finland. The dancing is similarly very reminiscent of traditional Scandinavian folk dancing, which is very similar to Irish folk dancing as you mentioned in the video. All in all I find it just plain enchanting.
Songs with vibes from different traditions are surely "Night Night Burn" with a latin vibe and "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" with Bollywood influence from their latest album :D Su's voice during the breakdown of this song always blows my mind! ANd so does during "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" :D During their EU tour, at St. Petersburg people made giant circle pits while holding arms around each others necks while dancing! There is a cool fanmade video on YT :)
Anastasia, you asked, "Who sang that" at 5:10. From what I have read, it was Moa! Years earlier Moa had said she would like to do voice acting, and she clearly has the talent. Gorgeous, unstoppable dancer, excellent singer, she is one of a kind!
If you want some old school metal with great ghost storyline's and theatrics along with some extremely diverse vocals and musicianship then check out King Diamond live at the Filmore in Pennsylvania. The King has been around the block and started around the same time as Iron Maiden did. His other band Mercyful Fate is another classic that shouldn't be missed!!
Their choreography always amazes me, how much practise have they done? Shanti, Shanti, Shanti must be one of their most intricate, put together with a huge rock/metal beat.
How do they make money? Well most concerts are around $40-60. Also there are the merch sales, which are insane, they hold the the highest sales for merch at Wembley arena, and they've had people like the WWE and other big bands. Then there is the fan club, The One, which also pumps out merch, plus membership fee. There is also record sales, the thing is that they are on an independent label, and have been since the start. When they started no label wanted to sign them, as it was a thing that would never work. Koba called in a favour or 2 and an independent label took them on and gave them a sub-label of their own, which they have not moved away from, just changed the name. So they have no big labels taking a masive cut. Also the DVD sales, again on their own label. Yes they pay for the distribution costs, but cutting out a record label is a big bonus. So appart from Amuse there is no one really taking a cut from the money the band are making, I don't know how much they take, but seeing as they did not put any investment in to the band at the start (as they thought it would not work), it may not be that big. So most of the money the band makes, gets put back into the band and the live shows.
When they release the song with the album, i don't particularly liked it, same as BxMxC, but after watching the videos of live performance, ahhh i get it noww it's awesome in it's own way.
BABYMETAL has a song called "Shanti Shanti Shanti", and it is another cultural genre that they BABYMETALed. It's an Indisch/Hindi mix with ALOT of flavor. I think it might be interesting from the standpoint of a vocalist
If you'd like another Babymetal tribute to another culture then may I recommend "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" which goes full Indian.... a sort of Babymetal goes to Bollywood. It's a load of fun. Here's a link to a compilation live performance; ua-cam.com/video/_r0JEvSbqGM/v-deo.html
Great reaction! Revenue isn't a problem for the production company (mainly the talent firm Amuse Inc.): Japanese people seem to still buy loads of CD's and DVD's, and merch is a big thing these days too. Also, Babymetal sell out any kind of arena, so even if the ticket prices are moderate, I wouldn't worry about the project making enough money :)
Nice reaction. Su-metals favorite song from the 3rd album. They seem to really enjoy doing this song live and so does the audience. Lots of clips of the crowd joining in on the dancing when they were on tour. Su gets to dance a lot during this song. Most of the end of the song is Moa singing with Joakim. And your right Moa always adorably dangerous has grown up to be beautifully Dangerous. Moa flashes those dimples and how do you not just give in? lol Many of the songs on the 3rd album were about the musical cultures they encountered around the world during their tours. there are some of their older songs that have a touch that as well. They mix the genres so well sometimes it's hard to tell. Night Night Burn has a strong latin feel to it. And you'll get to hear Moa sing a lot again. I got a better appreciation of all things Moa when the 3rd album came out. Su once again shows her ability to sing any type of music. I've heard talk of the official cover art for their new album. Now I want the new album. And of course, a Babymetal live tour. See You
Su is a 17 year veteran of the stage, which is amazing when you realise she is only 24. There's nothing they can't do, I'm waiting for a metal/country song to be put out next. See you soon. 🦊🦊🔥🦊🦊
Great reaction! Yeah, this is one of the most fun songs from Metal Galaxy, along with Da Da Dance. I see a few people have mentioned Shanti Shanti Shanti, which is another great song, though unfortunately the MV isn't very good - you don't get to see much of the excellent choreography - and there aren't any other good videos of it on YT. If you want to check out more BM, I would highly recommend using the Babymetal Reactor Resource to get around copyright blocks and check out their best stuff. Speaking of copyright blocks, you mentioned watching a full concert in a livestream. You should know that every time I've seen a reactor try to livestream a full BM concert on UA-cam, even if it's one that doesn't get blocked like Legend 1997 or Budokan Black Night, it always gets taken down mid-stream. If you want to stream full concerts, I would recommend using Twitch - you'll be safe there, and you can get subs and donations if you stream long enough to get Affiliate status (or whatever they're calling it these days).
Actually, the base chorus here is a Finnish Folk song called "Ievan Polkka" popularized by the Finnish quartet 'Loituma' in the 1990's and the 2006 viral looped flash animation of Orihime Inoue from the anime show "Bleach" (also known as the "Leekspin" girl). Fun song!! More Babymetal please!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

BabyMetal is a group in the "unreal world". Their producer Kobametal create one "unreal world" stage after another for BabyMetal. Fans know that Su-metal and Suzuka are two different girls. They live in two different worlds.
Totally agree with you , I think every nation in Europe can recognise this song in there culture . I think it's mostly non Europeans that automatically say Irish because of show RiverDance any dancing kicking legs like that is automatically thought of as Irish . Better discription would be European Folk Dancing 😁🤘🦊🤘
Hi Anastasia! To answer one of your questions; Moa-metal is the one who sings (growls) "Help me please! Please! Save me please! Please! Please please O please!". The back story (lore) to this song is that there is a metal paradise only for children and any adults who enters is cursed to sing and dance together non-stop forever until they die. In this instance, the Northern Warrior (Joakim) was lured into the trap by the Fox God.
Hi Anastasia! I found you through your Iron Maiden reaction, and was wondering if you still plan on doing a day where you check out like 5-10 songs of theirs? I would absolutely love for you to check out more of their live performances specifically. They are one of the few bands where their live performances are more amazing than the studio versions.
A natural progression I'd love to see,,, Sabaton Rocks History and gets tapped to do a song for World Of Warships, "Bismarck" is launched and is a Massive hit. Sabaton does this excellent calabaration with Babymetal, so now Sabaton should wright "Yamato" and team up with Babymetal and go Total Starblazers/Macross on it!! I'd Love to see Sue as Lynn Minmay. I know my age is showing but I miss the good stuff before Harmany gold messed it all up.
I guess this kind of show is only happening in Japan. For their european tour, a ticket is around 65 EUR. I payed 20 EUR more the other day to see them supporting Sabaton. There are premium tickets that gets you first entrance, some memorabilias and access to an exclusive merchandise store, they go around 200 EUR.
BTW, you had mentioned not really hearing Jill on the violin in your Unlucky Morpheus reaction. The band does some covers without Fuki, the vocalist, and focusing entirely on Jill with some great guitar riffs as well. So you might just want to listen to ua-cam.com/video/33Z21zuML2g/v-deo.html

You should react to one of the " Guides " to BABYMETAL they're very well done funny and filled with info about them . You'll end up appreciating and loving them even more .
They are simply incredible. People who say they don't like them, are secretly listening to Spotify in their shower. I hope they come back, and their retirement is a great marketing tool
They did not retire. Out of concern for their fans they stopped touring. When it's declared safe again from they'll return to the stage. Consider the fact you that they haven't put out new music for a few years. You cannot tour and record a new album at the same time.
Thanks for the great reaction. Before I met BABYMETAL, I hated Metal. I couldn't help but be pained by smelly men bellowing endlessly about death and suffering. But BABYMETAL was different. Beautiful, dainty, pretty girls singing about happiness, joy, and hope in crystal-clear voices with a horrible, heavy sound in the background. I thought, "Is there such a thing as Metal?" When I listen to BABYMETAL's songs, I always smile and sometimes cry with happiness. Yes! BABYMETAL is happy metal.

I feel a little bad for always mentioning this, but in my opinion this is their weakest song. Thankfully, even their weakest song is still pretty good. And how could one not love watching a performance like that? It takes a lot of effort to get the smile off my face afterwards.
Great reaction and yes, this is a fun song (not one of my favourites tho). Another one that refers massively to another culture is “Shanti Shanti Shanti” that is kinda Bollywoody. You should defo check that one out! Su (or was it Moa?) once said in an interview that the Metal Galaxy album is like a toy box where they reach in and pull out something different every time. This song can be considered as Pirate Or Folk Metal. But it is based on Finnish Pollka or Levan Pollka. It also incorporates Irish Jig and a bit of The Russian Cossack dance, also known as Kazachok or Kozachok dance, in Ukrainian Hopak dance, or squat dance.

Joakim Brodén, lead singer of Sabaton, and featured artist on “Oh! MAJINAI” from METAL GALAXY, talks a bit about the process of recording for it.
He says that while they were playing opening for BABYMETAL in Japan in 2018 he was having a great time with the band and crew and they said they were doing “something new” and asked him to join.
He recorded his part in Osaka, Japan in between the shows in Saitama (Dark Night Carnival) and Kobe (x2).
He also says he almost lost his voice, because they were asking for “more power” from him.

Therapist: Robotic Joakim can't hurt you. Robotic Joakim doesn't exist.
Robotic Joakim:
Ok... Japanese/Irish folk metal?? If its what this song is, I finally reach the bottom of the rabbit hole. I can die happy now!🎼🤘🌹
When they release the song with the album, i don't particularly liked it, same as BxMxC, but after watching the videos of live performance, ahhh i get it noww it's awesome in it's own way.
BABYMETAL has a song called "Shanti Shanti Shanti", and it is another cultural genre that they BABYMETALed. It's an Indisch/Hindi mix with ALOT of flavor. I think it might be interesting from the standpoint of a vocalist
If you'd like another Babymetal tribute to another culture then may I recommend "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" which goes full Indian.... a sort of Babymetal goes to Bollywood. It's a load of fun. Here's a link to a compilation live performance;
ua-cam.com/video/_r0JEvSbqGM/v-deo.html
Shanti shanti is their most underrated in the album 🤘
Glad to see more BabyMetal

"It's adorable!!"
Yup. Discussion ends here.
フォークメタル~楽しいダンス
I call this pirate metal. Aye aye Mate.
I think BABYMETAL pays the utmost respect to folk metal by Oh! Majinai.
sabaton is going on tour with BABYMETAL in Europe I'm so exited to see both on the same day
Actually, the base chorus here is a Finnish Folk song called "Ievan Polkka" popularized by the Finnish quartet 'Loituma' in the 1990's and the 2006 viral looped flash animation of Orihime Inoue from the anime show "Bleach" (also known as the "Leekspin" girl).
Fun song!! More Babymetal please!!
Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
In a similar vein to how a Hardly a David's son goes " chug , chug , chug" blip blip "chug, chug, chug" blip blip ?. Чё там Irish, это наше народное, Смоленский Гусачок. Always more Babymetal forever! :) 🦊❤️🤘🔥👍
BabyMetal is a group in the "unreal world". Their producer Kobametal create one "unreal world" stage after another for BabyMetal. Fans know that Su-metal and Suzuka are two different girls. They live in two different worlds.
"They live in two different worlds."
But not at the same time 🙂
Totally agree with you , I think every nation in Europe can recognise this song in there culture .
I think it's mostly non Europeans that automatically say Irish because of show RiverDance any dancing kicking legs like that is automatically thought of as Irish . Better discription would be European Folk Dancing 😁🤘🦊🤘
Интернациональная песня короче)
Request for BABYMETAL song Akatsuki and Megitsune you're missing out their two oldest but best songs.
Доставай балалайку, наливай водку, надевай валенки и давай танцевать в присядку 🔥🇷🇺💪🏻
🤘🦊🤘
😝😝😝🤘🤘🤘
Great reaction. This is a fun song. Moa reckons she dances better going backwards in this one🤣🦊
Just curious, how come you're not checking out the Road of Resistance live in Japan yet? I was so looking forward to that 😂, anyway fun and great reaction, welcome back to BabyMetal 🤘🦊🤘
If you want HARD AND HEAVY please, oh god please do reaction for BABYMETAL - BABYMETAL DEATH legend 1997 :) You'll be squashed to the floor !!!

We miss Yui 😞
You are right, Moa is the prettiest one of the 3. This is a Polka, and you call yourself Russian.
I love Japan . Such a beautiful country but hot as fucking hell there though lol.
I thought, "Is there such a thing as Metal?"
When I listen to BABYMETAL's songs, I always smile and sometimes cry with happiness.
Yes! BABYMETAL is happy metal.
BMTH ft BABYMETAL-> KINGSLAYER
you did a great reaction Luna, always fun and interesting.

A big way they make money on their shows is selling a crazy amount of merch during them and it's usually pretty expensive.
I feel a little bad for always mentioning this, but in my opinion this is their weakest song. Thankfully, even their weakest song is still pretty good. And how could one not love watching a performance like that? It takes a lot of effort to get the smile off my face afterwards.
it's a polka. nothing irish about it. russian, polish, finnish. go check Loituma.
まあ、これはコバメタルの音楽人生の記憶による曲なんだと思う。ある世代の日本人たちが学校で学んだいわゆる「フォークダンス」をメタルに編曲したようなもの。
why does babymetal? because, fun!
What happened with the Iron Maiden Video??
god i miss them. i wish they come back sooner and produce new songs / album.
They will but for now touring is dangerous right now in some places due to possible terrorist attacks and wars that is spreading.
So yes, expect the unexpected xd.
