Thank you! This happened to my 02 Silverado. I installed and after market radio, I did not short any wires and only used the yellow, red and black for power. After I hooked my radio up and put the dash back together I had no dash or climate control lights. I went through every fuse in the fusebox and checked the cluster itself and still no lights. Then it dawned on me if none of the dash lights work it HAS to be in the switch !
Man I hope this works! I just ordered the part. I don’t have an aftermarket radio but my truck is a 2000 model sierra. I’m gonna be so tickled if this fixes it!
Just buy a cam of contact cleaner and spray in from the front olong the side of the dimmer switch. Then turn it up and down for a minute to work in the contact cleaner. That should do it. Try to use a paper towel around the edges so the cleaner doesn't get on the front panel It could discolor the panel
Thanks for video. I ordered AC Delco oem part. Installed easily. The lights have a greenish glow compared to everything else white. Were they always greenish or white backlit I can’t remember?
I am glad that it worked for you! I believe the older gauges where more on the green side then they kinda moved to the pale white/yellow later. That's just my observation though, I am not totally sure.
Hello! I was wondering if you might have any wisdom to share for my issue. I have this problem. The lights dimmed and slowly turned off as you've described. I will replace this just in cover my donkey. But since messing with it (not replaced it yet) the lights stay on and do not dim. Now both heat seaters do not turn on, nor do the seats adjust anymore, all within the last 5 days. Do you have an idea for assistance? I figured it was a long shot to ask, but it doesn't hurt. Thank you in advance! I appreciate your video greatly!
I would check the fuses for your seats and seat heaters they may have blown. Also sometime the controller/buttons in the driver door (far as the heater) can wiggle loose. Never had that specific problem before, sorry im not more helpful on it, good luck!
All the functions of my switch work. My problem is the BUTTON lights on this switch, 4wd switch, and cargo switch don’t work until I smack different spots on my dash. Is this a ground issue? Where would I find the ground for this
I am not sure on the exact ground location, you'd just have to trace the wires from the rear of the bulbs. Your old bulbs may also be dying. Sorry I am not much help on that one, haven't had that problem yet.
I have no backlighting in my door switches. I've replaced the switches, checked all fuses and nothing. Do you know if the headlight switch has anything to do with this? My dash lights work, auto on headlights feature works so I didn't think much about the headlight switch being the issue. Thoughts?
Far as I know the dimmer switch just controls the bezel, radio, ac lights etc, so if all your dash lights are on and bright, it's doing it's job. Far as the door switches I think the light is in the switch, so if you have already replaced the switch itself it has to just not be getting power. I would trace the wires through your door and make sure non have rubbed a bare spot. Best of luck!
Great video. My radio, 2009 Chevy Silverado, keeps coming on/off without me touching the power button. If I push and hold the radio power button, it will turn off. But as soon as I stop holding the radio power button, it keeps coming on/off. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
I have no dash lights and also no running (parking lights ) on both front and rear of vehicle. I do have headlights and brake lights. We had to run the boat hone the other night with flashers on all the way home. Can that same switch cause that issue as well? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I'm not sure if it would effect all those things. Sounds like you may have a fuse issue, or a wire has rubbed through and is grounding out. Id start with checking any associated fuses. Best of luck!
So the idea is the same, but the switch looks slightly different on a 2010. If you dash lights are dimming or cutting in and out, it is definitely the place to start. Good luck on your project!!
Where to check for when my roller dome is on or the dome override is where dome should be on, it pops the fuse tcb2 15amp. If I have some off with override and roller down fuse stays good and reverse lights work. I tried both coming on with a 20 amp fuse and smelt hot so cut it off. Short? Or switch?
If you are popping fuses there is probably a short some where on the wire where it's rubbed thru. When my switch was going bad, it was annoying, but it never blew a fuse.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER I found it right near the steering column wires stripped bare. Got them all fixed up and fuse is holding and everything is working properly now. Thanks
Never had that happen to me before, I would leave the battery unhooked awhile and see if it resets the module, or possibly check your ignition wiring and make sure it hasn't rubbed through somewhere making the system think your trying to hot wire it.
I’m in the same boat. Replaced the headlight switch now my 2000 2500 6.0 won’t start. Security light stays on even without the key and all doors closed😩
The one on my moms Silverado works but the lights on the switch are burnt out. I wonder how hard it is to take it out and then replace the bulbs in it?
So I have never tried to do that, please let me know if you try it. The whole part is less than $20 on Amazon currently, may not be worth your time to fix the light on it considering how easy it is to change out the whole thing for new. Would stink to change the bulb if the switch is almost worn out already. Good luck!
If it's your lights on the gauge cluster and surrounding buttons going dark, then it's probably an issue with your dimmer switch, if it's only the miles part of the gauge cluster, then your gauge cluster maybe dying. If you search FB marketplace, there are generally people that can repair the circuit board, or just replace the cluster and flash your mileage to the new one.
It would be all your gauge lights at the same time if it's the switch. If it is only your speedo lighting, then it's probably an individual bulb inside your gauge cluster.
The dome light fuse should be under the hood in the main fuse box, kinda near the center bottom, look at the little diagram on the lid, I believe its the one marked CTSY, check there and see if your fuse has blown. Good luck on your project, thank you for watching!
I hope this work for me me new 02 tahoe light switch work to turn on head light and interior light but dash light dont come on im sure junkyards has gmc or tahoes so i can get a couple of switches
Far as I know the dimmer switch only controls the inside dash lights. Just guessing on the headlights dimming, it could be a loose wire or corroded light bulb if it's just one of them. If they are both doing it the same, then maybe the switch that controls your normal to brights function, fuse, or something like that. Sorry, I haven't ran into that issue yet. If you figure it out, please let me know, now I'm curious.
