Fun video today! On this Classics Are Better we are moving up to the big leagues following the build of the MLB Houston Astro's World Series Champion Pitcher Ryan Pressly's 1955 Chevy 3100. How To Replace OIL COOLER LINES on Silverado & Sierra | Oil Leak Fix
Переглядів 8 тис.4 місяці тому
Got a leaky Silverado or Sierra? Yup, me too! Today I am starting to tackle the leaks on my 2006 Chevy SilveradoMAX with a 6.0 Vortec, but it's the same process for a GMC Sierra. First item on the list is replacing the oil cooler lines! Mine have failed where the rubber line is crimped into the steel lines and it's just adding to the oily mess I am dealing with. This video is made to be a guide...

    You can keep your Faux Patina?

    You didnt have to take engine mounts or anything loose? Thats what i keep hearing

    • @CLASSICSAREBETTER
      @CLASSICSAREBETTER День тому

      Nope didn't mess with the engine mounts at all, there is a single bolt clip mounted to the engine so maybe that's what they meant. Biggest hassle for me was working around the 4wd drive shaft, if it was 2wd I would have had significantly more room.

    • @reverandhale863
      @reverandhale863 День тому

      @CLASSICSAREBETTER mine is 4wd as well and a 2500hd with no lift. Idk if that makes a difference or not. I'm was just curious because mine is leaking pretty bad, I'm either gonna replace it or put a blocking plate on it

    • @CLASSICSAREBETTER
      @CLASSICSAREBETTER 22 години тому

      @@reverandhale863 It would be a lot better for your engine if your able to keep it. You can get a little more room to work if you remove your oil filter or front drive shaft during your install. I would get it as high off the ground as you safely can (always us jack stands) and give it a shot, a blocking plate can always be plan B if you can't get it to work. It's all just nuts and bolts, just gotta stay after it. Good luck!

    • @reverandhale863
      @reverandhale863 22 години тому

      @CLASSICSAREBETTER only reason I contemplated a blocking plate is because it's a 2500 but I really don't tow heavy or run it hard. I'm gonna think on it a couple days before I make a decision. Thanks for the input

    Is linseed oil a fire risk after drying?

    • @CLASSICSAREBETTER
      @CLASSICSAREBETTER День тому

      The linseed oil on the vehicle isn't a fire risk, but the rag you use is. Don't wad it up in the trash, lay it out on the concrete somewhere to totally dry, it can off gas while drying and combust in a small space....science its weird lol. Best of luck, thanks for watching!

    Fantastic video thanks! I do have one question if I may - where does the heater core go when you do the ls swap? My 65 c-10 has it in the engine bay and I noticed your original heater core wasn't there.

      @CLASSICSAREBETTER 6 днів тому

      Hey thank you for watching! So my C10 didn't have a heater core when I bought it. I just plan to do aftermarket heat/ac in the future, I believe you could just plumb in your heater core if you wanted to use it with your LS swap, but I haven't messed with that myself. Best of luck on your project!

      @@CLASSICSAREBETTER that is an option. Who performed a half-ass repair by super gluing the damaged connector and leads back together to plug inside the back of the bottom left steering wheel buttons. I had to disconnect the battery, remove the airbag, remove the horn button spring, and remove the torx bit bolts which were holding brackets in order to give me slack from the tight short wiring harness to have enough room to work. All of the buttons on the steering wheel are working except for they do not illuminate. When I replace the buttons for ones that illuminate I splice repair the damaged wire leads and terminal connector. If that doesn't work I'll buy you steering wheel off eBay minus the airbag with one that has good fully working buttons and wiring.

    That is a beauty! I am currently working on getting my 54 Sport Coupe into paint. It's taken me 2 1/2 years of hard work. I wonder what the value of that is???

      Thanks for watching, good luck on your 54! Far as the value, I don't really know to be honest. They are still popular cars 70 yrs later, so can't go wrong fixing one up.

    Great video, I’m matching replacement fenders on my 63 and just doing the paint and wet sand spots wasn’t turning out like the original patina on the rest of the truck, about to try these methods now 🙌🏻

    Quick trick 1 . Have the same rims . I can only get them at summit racing for the c10 . It either says 5.5 out of stock or 5.5 127mm in stock . Confuses me

      @@BigMike1999 Those are the wheels that came on my truck, they were 5x5. I did a 6 lug conversion since then to hold my GM Transport Wheels. Check on Ebay or Jegs for options too.

    Great video. My radio, 2009 Chevy Silverado, keeps coming on/off without me touching the power button. If I push and hold the radio power button, it will turn off. But as soon as I stop holding the radio power button, it keeps coming on/off. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

    • @CLASSICSAREBETTER

      To me it seems like it has to be either the button on the radio itself, or one of the wires has rubbed through and it's grounding out somewhere.

    Need PB Blaster, followed by heat, followed by cold, followed by heat, then try the wrench. Rinse & Repeat. If you break the bolt head, you are screwed, so take you time. Oh Yeah, and tap with a ballpeen hammer in between heat cycles just for grins
