    You have heard all the hydration tips and tricks. Everybody offers voice hydration tips because dehydrated vocal cords do not function well. But do you know how to hydrate vocal cords most efficiently right before going on the stage and without frequent bathroom stops? If you are wondering: can dehydration affect your voice? The answer is yes! Then try steaming. Steaming benefits are well known so steaming your voice should be a part of your regular routine. Not just steam inhalation for laryngitis. Use your vocal steamer every single day for maintaining good vocal health. Watch my videos with vocal health tips about voice care for speakers and other voice users. Learn about taking care of your voice for speaking!

    Interesting! Although, when I’m singing and during warm ups I definitely feel like sipping water still helps.

      Sipping is fine, just not drinking gallons of water right before the vocal task. Also, many people think that drinking during the vocal task will hydrate the voice. The truth is that the consumed liquids will have the hydration effect only long after they were consumed. I hope this makes sense.

      The one I use is called VocalMist and I bought it from their website. I am not sure if they ship to Spain (you can ask them). Or you can buy one from Amazon but I do not have any recommendations from there.

    I try not to mouth breath, do i need to breath through my mouth for the steamer to help my vocal chords? or will breathing the steam through my nose help the same way?

      Breathing through the mouth or nose will deliver the moist air to the throat equally. If you breathe through the mouth, you will also hydrate the mouth, if you breathe through the nose, you will hydrate the nose.

    Hi Katarina! Do you have a recommended brand? Do you need special ingredients, or is just tap water okay?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому

      I recommend VocalMist, I don't have any affiliation with them. I just have good experience with it. And yes, you need a sterile saline solution for any nebulizer. VocalMist comes with sterile saline cartridges. Just google VocalMist and they have a website with all the information.

    Thank you for this tip. Where did you purchase your nebulizer? Do I just use saline?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому +1

      The nebulizer I use, I purchased over the internet (VocalMist). But you can buy them in local pharmacies or on Amazon. And yes, you need sterile saline solutions (for any nebulizer).

    Oh how long does it take for water to reach the vocal folds??

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Рік тому

      Several hours so therefore, it is recommended to drink throughout the day, not just when you need to be hydrated.

    You forgot to mention the expense of having to use particular type of water and the environmental cost of getting it

      I did not forget. Those are the limitations of YT shorts. I made several videos on these topics but they are much longer. You are welcome to watch them.
