I love Aretha giggling and saying I like that!!! SOOO sweet. Aretha said in the George Michael video that A House Is Not A Home will never be the same, she was right. I love that she treasured singing with Luther and George. I kind of wish Luther & George would have been a couple, maybe they'd still be with us. George lost his love in the early 90s and he never quite recovered from that loss he said. And, I sure hope someone loved Luther in the way his fans loved him!!! I loved Stop To Love so much, and was so happy when it'd come on the radio!!!
I am so happy to say that I own SEVERAL CD'S by them both. I adored them and glad I had the foresight to make the purchases of both artists. You can't get music like this today. The artists are more LUCKY than talented.
You know, we have so many talented black artist's that when you listen to them each INDIVIDUALLY, you're in AWE of their vocal abilities! I definitely believe that Aretha is the #1, because of how she gets into your SOUL & HEART to MAKE YOU FEEL what she's feeling, that just can't be DENIED! But when you listen to Whitney, Mariah, Celine, WOW, WOW, WOW, do we have some talented artist's! The O'jays, Luther, Marvin, Issac Hayes, Smokey, I can go ON & ON! we have so much TALENT its all BREATH TAKING & worth LISTENING TO OVER & OVER AGAIN .......... I am 70 years old, and HAVE the ALBUMS, not CD'S!!!!
Matter of taste. yes he is a great singer. I don't know if we will ever see or listen to music like that in our lifetime. You don't even need a voice anymore to get on stage.
After viewing this performance for the VERY FIRST TIME today.....I am speechless with awe & admiration......on several different levels. Luther Vandross & Aretha Franklin, the most gifted male & female vocalists of our generation.......sharing the same stage with a performance that was practically worth the price of admission itself. Every individual in the audience was exceptionally blessed to be a part of this.
I believe they were singing in Hieroglyphics tones at the 4:21 mark the most beautiful tones going between the two He spoken in tone and she responded back in tone
You all do know Aretha was in the audience and NOT slated to perform. That's the reason she ad-libbed and improvised. If you grew up in the black church, you'd know it's a very common practice, putting folks on the spot."Is sister Shirley in the house? If so, can you come up here and sing. They'd wing it by one person singing and the other person follows the melody ad-libbing.I know Luther got a good cursing out backstage, Aretha is very regimented, hates surprises and has no chill.
Yeah but she loved the fact that he was singing to her, probably the one time she didn't mind, Luther was one of the greatest soul singers of all time, can't be duplicated as well as she can't be!
You nailed it. If the words were important, they could’ve done something. They weren’t, he’s already got the lyrics..just the accompaniment and those two voices the best of the best, on the same stage forever preserved here...GOLD
when i thought its impossible to outdo Luther at 4:20 mark, Aretha without fear nor hesitant showed us why she is the queen of soul with that response at 4:23 😂..even Luther recognizes it lol..
When it comes to vocal agility, I knew Aretha would have it in the bag. Luther is a phenomenal vocalist but when it comes to vocalist, there are a number of vocalists who can outrun him. His tone, technique and admirable technique puts him in the league of the greatest vocalists.
Yooo that "make me believer" echo was crazy I almost thought it was gonna switch over that's the power that luther vandross can do with his voice it can't be matched you never know what he'll do next
the publisher commented that "luther in his prime". my question is when was he not in his prime. luther has been freaking the vocals from his first album til the last
Two of the most gifted singers I’ve ever heard....in my 70 years. All the times they “got me through”.....times when no one else would do...truly magic. Just magic. Thank you, Luther...thank you Aretha. From the bottom of my heart of hearts...for reaching in down deep ...and touching the soul of me. 😇
This is the first time I saw this being song by two of the GREATEST LEGEND SINGERS THAT WAS ON THIS EARTH THEY CANT BE COMPARED I MEAN ATHERA FRANKLIN SHE JUST SONG WITH HIM IN THIS SONG AND THEY ARE RESTING IN PEACE IN HEAVEN 💞 GOD BLESS
The respect for each other is so evident but the sweet Luther Vandross at points looks like he is about to freak out because he is singing with the queen of soul. R.I.P Luther & Aretha.
Listening to them sing side by side, you can clearly hear the influence of Ms. Franklin on LV. Thanks for posting this. Respect and RIP to the ONLY #QueenOfSoul and to Luther Vandross.
@@catboyzee and thats the key word ABSORBED..i read the book on his life and he spent years just studying aretha dionne and diana...only if this era could understand...in order to move something forward u gotta go back and do ya homework
I don't understand why people are saying Aretha didn't know the words. Its called ad-libbing. Pretty sure she knew the words to A House is Not a Home. She was just putting her own spin on it.

But the real deal was how much he admired her. He was indeed thrilled to have had this moment with her.
The greatest male and female singers on the planet. I feel so blessed to grow up with their music. This is true Soul Music. Where is the Soul Music today? Rest In Peace Ree Ree and Luther.
I LOVE THIS Luther Vandross the velvety smooth crooner called his idol Aretha Franklin on stage to join him. Luther hit one of those amazing Lutha runs and the Queen stopped the show when she took the run an added a few notes... OMG call and response, I love it when singers do it........ I love when Karen Clark Sheard and daughter KiKi does it when they perform together, I loved it when Whitney and CeCe Winans did on "Count on me' and I love how Luther and Ree did it here..............
If I could go back in time and go to one concert that I have not been to, it would be one of his. I regret to this day not trying to attend one of his. His life was cut too short

Southcidal Music
She looked enamored with him!!! Who could blame her, really?
Nobody can sing like Luther . I fall in love, got engaged, and married to Luther.
Luther was a gift to the world from God. I miss him so so so much.❤😢
Aretha was a gift from God to the world. Miss them both so much.❤
I miss them both so much.
Aretha's voice is just so soulful, she has no rivals.
No one ever compared to Luther Vandross. The man equivalent of Aretha.
RIP to these 2 amazing vocalists!! There'll never be another Luther and Aretha ❤
Ain't that the truth!!!!!!!
Most of the greats are all gone.
Two great SINGERS. Love it. This was originally done by one of Luther’s other favorite singer’s Dionne Warwick.
He did many of Dionne’s songs
Ella Fitzgerald did a cover of this song before Luther. It’s just as clean and crisp.
The way Luther said Aretha Franklin gave me chills. Gift to us from God❤
Luther brought it home and Aretha killed it!
Colin Zungu totally agree
NOBODY can sing like luther

No love for Luther? Lol
God, do I miss him, that voice. We were lucky to have heard it.
and it seems to me that he still does not get enough credit these days. he was one of the best R&B male singers ever
Seeing Luthor live was a blessing, better than any recording. I saw him twice.

Well well who do we have in 2021 to compare with these two giants of music? Absolutely no-one!
Bless the heart of the sound engineer that had to mix and master Aretha’s vocals/mic on the spot! Imagine have to do that on the fly. 😅😅😅😅
Makes me remember when I could fall in love.
It's been too long for me ....🤐
Luther V. and "The Queen" it gets no better than this......R.I.P....the legendary,
