50 years later, they are still trying to make that MiG-105 work.
I thought they got stuck on the M 69. 😆
Wait ... What?
Dream Chaser is based on the Rockwell HL-20 OML (aerodynamic shape), which itself was based on the Martin X-24A.
The MiG-105 was shot down over Ukraine last week.
How interesting. A new reincarnation of the soviet "Spiral"? Well at least it seems to be inspired by that program - look at the nose and wings and the overall composing. Good luck guys!
based on the NASA / Air Force lifting body X-plane program that Russia copied. Then the US dropped it due to no funding and did the space shuttle instead because the US Air Force wanted a cargo capacity and was paying (extra) into the civilian NASA program so got to dictate what was developed.
I have opened this video only because it was looking like Spiral module on the preview
There is some cross pollination there alright. Dyna-Soar inspired Spiral, which inspired HL-20 and Dream Chaser is derivative of that last one.
Not too much though, it's not like there was too much chance of copy-pasting designs between east and west. And of course, history aside, Dream Chaser is a wholly modern design.
Unlike the Spiral, there is no tail.
I've been following Sierra's progress for years. So glad to see Dream Chaser enter the resupply ring, that will only be the beginning of this company reaching their full potential. I personally would like to see Dream Chaser transport people back and forth to the ISS and even the Axiom Space Station.
Should call it the Dyno-Soar.
By the time this antique gets to low earth orbit SpaceX will already be on mars with Starship
@@jeffreyhomestead8150 form follows function, just becuase it's based on a design made in the last century doesn't mean it's ancient. Physics hasn't changed. There is a reason the B-52 bomber is still flying. With modern avionics and softare, it's a decently impressive little ship.
Looks like Farscape1 from the Farscape series. Might want to avoid doing any gravitational slingshots around Earth with it ;)
glad im not the only one with taste in good scifi
It’s based on the lifting bodies developed by NASA in the 1960’s with an addition of the Russian MiG-105 from the 1980’s.
@@allangibson2408 mig-105 first flight 1976
No, looks more from Gerry Andersons U.F.O 😀
Yes!
Thanks for sharing this time lapse of Dream Chaser construction and testing.
Good to see that the MiG-105 is finally being made!
Not a MiG.. - The "Bor 4"
Actually it was Russians who were copying US and Boeing, Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
Holy Cow! This vehicle will be so awesome. I can't wait to see it achieve orbit and re-entry. It's going to be EPIC!
It can really fly not just a brick falling it can turn like a fighter jet and loop the loop 🤔
It can reach orbit than that blue something company does
2 more weeks....
Yes, also You have not seen the full version of this project yet, look for the designer Chelomey and the "spiral" project
Watch the opening of the six milkion dollar man
Thanks to AA for bringing me here. I'm looking forward to seeing Tenacity fly.
I was on the edge of my seat watching in oar . To me this is the most amazing thing I could watch right now !!! No more science fiction shuttles I was dreaming of when I got older.... Now I am older I'm seeing this fantastic shuttle being built.. such a great design and construction. I'm just so truely excited about the possibilitys now with different minds , different materials and methods. I'm so happy to be alive at this stage of it all . I'd like to see shuttles similar to that we see on star wars and star Trek .. looks like to me that I might just be lucky soon ✨🙄
An excellent development of the idea of the 80s. The Russians launched these in 69-84, they called BOR 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Maybe a new level of technology will help this bird fly better than its older sister.
Actually it was Russians who were copying US and Boeing, Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
Although I'm amazed by reusability, returning crew flights to capsules after the Shuttle program ended felt like a big step backwards. This version is meant for cargo, but I read somewhere that Sierra has manned flights in mind. Bring it on!
I was a teenager when the shuttle was unveiled. I was so excited about it. I even wanted to be an astronaut, going so far as to obtain a nomination to the Air Force Academy. But the shuttle turned out to be unbelievably expensive to maintain, and sending up crew and cargo in the same craft was just a bad idea.
Capsules, even reusable ones ARE a step back but try telling NASA 😓
I still believe in Santa
As long as the interior is shielded I assume it can be outfitted for cargo or people as they like. Climate control systems are probably small enough to fit on any of the capsules these days. Don't think you need too much more if it's just going up and down for the most part, not long duration missions.
Not sure anyone bothers with long missions outside of the ISS these days anyways.
@@Sajuuk Not wise to ditch proven, reliable hardware just because something new comes along, the real step forward is to maintain both. NASA had no vehicle to send astronauts to ISS after shuttle setbacks, and had to rely on Russian Soyuz capsules.
Wow! What a nice copy of the 1960-s USSR Spiral project! :)))
The MIG 105 was a USA design copied by USSR.
Wow, what an ignorant comment! :)))
Actually it was Russians who were copying US and Boeing, Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
Lo and behold, the resurrection of the X-38 lifting body. The X-38 was a NASA experimental lifting body intended as a crew return vehicle from the ISS. The first flight was in 1999, but was cancelled in 2002 due to budget cuts by Congress. Instead, we got the space shuttle, designed by committee. The shuttle was no doubt a marvelous machine, but never quite lived up to expectations.
Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
Best of luck team. I've been rooting for you since day one. Shooting star is a genius addition to Tenacity, and I can't wait to see crewed version in the future. Looking forward to seeing what you amazing people have planned for tomorrow... especially Orbital Reef.
I cant wait for them to finally admit that nobody goes to space ever
It’s so fucking great to see Dream Chaser coming to life
Wonderful. It remembers a lot those fancy lifting bodies of the 60s. The concept is similar. I also appreciate the new space capsules under development, but a lifting body is on another level!
This is so awesome, looking forward to more updates! 👍👍
I love how this looks like the crew module from the old tv show UFO. Go Sierra!
Wish I could work as fast as your employees!
Beautiful Spacecraft, looking forward to seeing it fly.
The DREAM is alive!
It’s by far my favorite looking ship.
What a BIG ship
Thanks for sharing
Nice. Can't wait to see this this flying with crew.
Congratulations on completion of a safe landing, very excited for you guys
that "Dyno-soar" concept never seems to die.
Beautiful design...Great job
Farscape 1 for real 😁 Very cool!
Awesome - Can't wait to see this fly!
Thank you for showing and sharing this impressive timelapse from dream chaser assembling. Wish the dream chaser much success and a great future in a peaceful space. Regards from NE Germany (80km's southwestbound Peenemunde)
Cant wait to see this baby fly!

We are so proud of you Josephina 👏...
Grandmother would be so proud of you today Phina ❤ 💖🕊
Well done, we wish you success
Did you see how many sensors were embedded in the fuselage?! Amazing work.
At first sight of the thumbnail, I thought they were trying to make the Epoche from Chrono Trigger and we're gonna try time traveling lol
Congratulations on progress.
Best video on UA-cam
Nice. I first saw one of such mini-shuttles (the Mig-105) almost fifty years ago, sitting idly in the green with no prospects of flying, ever... Fast-forward fifty years, and it's almost a reality.
Actually it was Russians who were copying US and Boeing, Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
That thing looks so freakin’ cool
So beautiful!!!
Lovely stuff!
THAT is the biggest crocks shoe I've ever seen. And it has wings too!
Even though everyone's making a spacecraft or capsules. regardless of what's in the works this is probably the only spacecraft that people are actually hoping and waiting for. there's just something about making a space plane actually look the part.
Can't wait to see it fly!
Was just shown this ship, I do apologies, this is the first time I have seen this. Looking like she could be up and running in the near future. Will follow your progress. 👍🏻
Grear video ! This used to be a NASA program ! And this is what the space schuttle should have been...After the six cargo contract, hope to see the crew version soon ! Like the nose wheel ! This is part of the first step to the moon to stay ! ! ! tjl
That's a very interesting way of doing the composites.
Super cool 👍
Hope to watch this get launched. I have read Buzz Aldrin's book. He said he is frustrated by the design of current manned space capsules which still use parachutes for sea landing. It smacks of old Apollo era. He made one exception. That is Dream Chaser.
This will surely become a dream come true
Epic!!
I think the timing is better now, the industry is readier than a few years ago. I hope we see you fly soon!
Can not wait to see this thing fly.
Looking forward to seeing Tenacity launched
just beautiful
Beautiful craft, it could be straight from a movie scene!
or a TV show where the test pilot gets bionic body parts...
Now release the real time version, so I can dream that I work with you guys on this space hot rod! 🍺😁
beautiful
My favourite space vehicle.
Absolutely smashing!
You don't have to speed up the presentation, I could watch the assembly for hours on end at normal speed.
good luck with the wee beasty . . . she looks sleek and slick.
Very beautiful ship
Wow! Cannot wait to see this on ISS. Good luck and God speed.
Absolutely rad
Looks like the engineers hand made to the bones. What a beauty.
I like the music!
Looks like the Farscape from the show of the same name. Nice.
Wow! Looks like soviet BOR orbiters series
Yes!!! I have a patch ready to put on my jacket for when they launch their first crew above the Karmen line!! :-D
Someone really loves the show Farscape. LOL
Falta poco! Falta poco! 🤩
Actually it was Russians who were copying US and Boeing, Soviet Mig-105 or BOR-4 were in 60s and 80s respectively while United States Air Force was working on X-20 Dyna-Soar in 50s.
#2 awesome 👌 👏 👍
It looks so cool...
Beautiful... Though familiar.
I suggest you double check Damper three. A blowout there might make for an uncomfortable landing (and make sure there's no choppers in the way)
I hope you get a test pilot with the skill & testing history of lifting bodies like Bruce Peterson.
matching good music 🎵
Amazing spaceship looks like a personal transport to space. I’m also planning to ride on it 🤔
Awsome
So proud of my niece Josephina 💖
Can't believe I've been following the progress of this for 10 years now... Looks like it might get on top of a booster soon!
nice garage you have there
It's so cool
A lifting body design with wings that can fold up for trans=sonic flight. An excellent idea, which is on our way to spacecraft which fly like airplanes. Someday, a vehicle like this, only bigger, will carry people to a 200 kilometer orbit for transfer to a true spacecraft. The lower the orbit the vehicle has to achieve, the less weight has to be lifted. Getting to space is the hardest part, after that it is much easier. Going from several kilometers per second to zero is quite a feat, as is the reverse.
Farscape called, John Criton wants his ship back.
A very late evolution of the X-24.
Why did it take 50 years?
Nice space bird
I always dreamed of building a space craft,,and yet here you are,,may your best days lie aheah settle your sails against the furthest stars,,godspeed little ship,,godsspeed.
