Hi. I just purchased the 411 for the sole purpose of removing dust from my small 75 metre squared apartment as when I leave items somewhere, they gather so much dust on top within a day. Will this help remove majority of the dust? Thanks in advance
The Blueair 411 model is intended for rooms up to 161 square feet, which is approximately 15 square meters. For your needs, you should buy a device for higher room coverage. Alen BreatheSmart Classic might be a smart choice for you.
Since this purifier has an ionizer, it means dust are more likely to fall onto surfaces which technically "purifies the air", do you notice any layer of dust on surfaces in the room? I think it'll be a good future test but may be time consuming.
No air purifier device will suck dust from the surfaces. But, when using air purifier you will notice far less dust in the air and you will breathe with ease. Also, after a while, you will notice less dust onto the surfaces.
@@canuck21 No it doesnt. From their own FAQ, which apparently was too hard for the OP to look up. Do Blueair air purifier have an ionizer? An ionizer, or ionizer air cleaner, uses a high-voltage charge to produce and emit ions into the room as a means of cleaning the air1. The by-product can be ozone, yet at very low levels, as all household air cleaners sold on the US market must follow stringent regulations for ozone emissions. Instead of emitting ions into the room as a means of cleaning the air, Blueair air purifiers use a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration to remove even the tiniest particles (down to 0.1 μm) from indoor air. We call our filtration technology HEPASilent™. Whereas an ionizer, or ionizer air cleaner, uses a high-voltage charge to produce and emit ions into the room, Blueair’s HEPASilent technology, uses a fan to draw charged airborne pollutants into the air purifier so that they stick more effectively to the filter. This increases the filtration efficiency of Blueair air purifiers, while at the same time achieving a higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and more silent and energy-efficient operation.
I have talked with Blueair support several times, and they state that every Blueair air purifier has an ionizer built-in. It’s called HEPASilent technology, and it is a combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration. You can also confirm this if you read the Bleuair 411 energy star certificate results.
Will this help reduce the amount of dust particles that land on surfaces? I know it cannot remove dust from surfaces, but can it prevent dust from gathering on surfaces?
You should experiment a little bit with positioning to find out which position suits you the best. Anyway, you can watch the video on the channel about the topic you are asking.
It does very well. For the location, the best you can do is to experiment until you find the location that fits you the best. Just keep the air purifier away from other objects or walls.

When light is red, that indicates the time for resetting the filter, which usually happens after some time of using the air purifier. When that happens, you should press and hold the power button for 5s to reset the filter. After that, the lights will back to the default.
It turns on itself immediately after connecting to the power source, and it operates on the last used settings. So, it's not that hard to perform the test. It is also good to know that you can connect the Blueair 411 with the smart plug.
@@AirPurifierFirst That was exactly the point of my question. I want to be able to connect it to a smart plug. Other sensors in the room then control the Blueair and I can get more filter life. Such a function is crucial for me to buy. Thank you for the extremely quick answer

If your main idea of getting an air purifier is to get rid of smoke odors, then you have to choose the bigger unit. Take a look at Winix 5500-2 or Coway.
I didn't test any Xiaomi air purifier, but I will in the future. Based on specifications, Xiaomi is for larger rooms, and it has a lot more functions. Anyway, it's not easy to compare these two products before I test both of them.
I'm looking for something to help eliminate cooking odors from my downstairs neighbours... it's an older building and when they cook it smells as though they might as well be cooking in my apartment. It is a small apartment (around 500 sq ft.) although I believe most of the smell enters my unit through the vent in the bathroom, which is above their kitchen. Would this purifier be up to the task?
If you put the air purifier near the smell source, it will reduce the odors. But, a huge amount of cooking odors will result in replacing filters more often than usual.
It will remove cigarette smoke, but keep in mind the room size and the amount of cigarette smoke. Based on that, consider using a more powerful product.
Hm, maybe, but there are other facts that you should consider when talking about air purifiers, such as filter efficiency and the size of the room where you are planning to use it.
It's their smallest unit, a $120 filter table-top filter, meant for small rooms such as a bedroom. CADR of 300 is a medium to large rooms. The 211 model is 350 and the 311 is 250 CADR. Blanket statements of 'good' like this don't help - you should buy a filter for the purpose... larger filters have higher operational costs by a non insignificant margin.

@@MrXCodSlayer Ionizers produce ozone. Ozone, according to the EPA, can cause harmful health consequences such as chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and throat irritation.
I got fooled by Blueair 411 presentation on their website, which led me to make a small lapse in the video. The Blue Pure 411 doesn't produce Ozone because it doesn't use an Ionizer! Besides, I have contacted them via Email and Facebook page but didn't get an answer to the question about the Ionizer. Also, I have found on Amazon one answer from the Blueair, in which they said that Blueair 411 has an Ionizer, but this comment is from 2018 I think.
At 3:22 you claim it's a HEPA filter (99.97% efficiency). It's not. The marketing material of the manufacturer leads you into believing that the Blue Pure line uses the same filtration technology as the more expensive offerings, which have a corona discharge ionizer upstream of the filter. Nowhere on the Blueair website there is any statement about the filtration efficiency of the Blue Pure 411 or 211 device. Not that it matters that much, since the clean exhaust air is mixed with the dirty ambient air anyway.
I'm sorry, but I said it removes 99.97% of particles with Blueair HEPASilent technology. You can read the explanation about removing particles from the air when using HEPASilent technology on the Blueair website. Here's the URL: www.blueair.com/gb/hepasilent-technology.html
@@AirPurifierFirst Read carefully. The 411 product page mentions "HEPAsilent" at the bottom, but it does not claim anywhere that the 411 actually uses it. Neither does the product manual or their published test data. Bluair's patent (patents.google.com/patent/US20090151567A1/en ) describes a high-voltage ionizer sitting upstream of the filter medium, which is present in the Classic product line, but not in the Blue Pure line. It wouldn't be possible to do that safely anyway with the Pure design.
@@hankwangn I think you are right. The Amazon sales page for the 411 does not mention HEPA silent. Only their Classic ones do. I can't understand the patent well, but if I understand correctly, the only way to ensure ozone and negative ions are not getting into the ambient air is if the charged air passes through the filter before leaving. But the 411 seems to have the air pass through the filter and THEN get charged, and then is released to the room. So this seems to pose the safety hazard of the having more particle get deposited in the lungs: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304388697001344 Do I have all that right? Also, I emailed the company a couple days ago asking if the new 411 Auto coming out had 99.7% efficacy as their Amazon ad claimed. Next day, the Amazon ad was gone.
@@hankwangn you're right, thats a play on words. its not a true HEPA filter. It just runs very quietly like one, very quiety. Also it's does not ionize the air at all! I have two 411's and one 211+. I've had them for about 4 years now.
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
@@AirPurifierFirst I specifically bought the BlueAir just for the fact that it remembered the state after power loss. A lot of air purifiers will reset when power goest out.

Hi @pavy415, thanks for your comment. Smoke box presentation is real, and, ordinarily, air purifiers do not work as same as in the smoke box, because all rooms are far more spacious than this smoke box. Hello, new to the channel. Can this device sucks in baking soda?
I haven't tried that experiment, but you can share the results when you try it?
Yessir. I commented too to your other video. Please respond if you have time.
You would still be able to smell the odors, but they will be less intense and the air will be free from odors faster.
Why don't you just throw a bath rug over the vent, or keep your bathroom fan on and keep the door closed?
I’ve had mine for about six months now and the light on top is now a bright red which it wasn’t before. What does this mean ?
That does mean that you have to replace your filter with the new one.
Can we just get rid of the ionizer somehow?
No, it can't be turned off or removed from the device.
@@AirPurifierFirst makes sense... That's a bummer
literally O’hare.
got this on a video about the Lorax
Will this remove the cigarette smoke coming in from my elderly neighbours house?
It will remove cigarette smoke, but keep in mind the room size and the amount of cigarette smoke. Based on that, consider using a more powerful product.
@@AirPurifierFirst thank-you. Whats the cheapest you'd recommend?
@@erikawilson1154 How big is your room?
please add Points/Score for the Conclusion. Thanks
Actually, you can find scores for every tested model at the airpurifierfirst.com
How long can I leave it running? Great review btw ;)
Thanks! You can leave it 24/7 if you want. But, my suggestion is to turn it off from time to time.
@@AirPurifierFirst Thanks, will keep that in mind
The CADR should be atleast 300 to be considered good and many of those air purifiers dont reach that :(
Hm, maybe, but there are other facts that you should consider when talking about air purifiers, such as filter efficiency and the size of the room where you are planning to use it.
@@brandall101 this one got Smoke 105 / Dust 120 / Pollen 120 so no NOT enough CADR... www.airpurifierfirst.com/review/blueair-blue-pure-411/ scroll down to check the specs...
Price aside, should I choose this or the Levoit Core 300?
I have already done the comparison of the Blueair 411 and Levoit Core 300 which will help you decide, here's the URL: www.airpurifierfirst.com/comparison/blueair-411-vs-levoit-core-300/
@@AirPurifierFirst Thank you, very appreciated. I ordered my Core 300 last week but had some doubts after seeing the Blueair 411. Now just to wait on shipping.
Did I just hear Ionizer? Im trying to clean my air not pollute it!
What’s wrong with that? I don’t know shit about air purifiers
I was thinking... Maybe I should pin this update as the top comment.
The sound of a purifier is white noise which puts me to sleep lol
True fact! Anyway, you can benefit from that white noise, if you use the air purifier in a bedroom, for example.
@@AirPurifierFirst I bought one, this one, for my dorm room. Can't wait to set it up!
@@sersastark I wish you the clean air! Anyway, be kind and share your experience here, after a while.
Here's the URL:
www.blueair.com/gb/hepasilent-technology.html
So this seems to pose the safety hazard of the having more particle get deposited in the lungs:
www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304388697001344
Do I have all that right? Also, I emailed the company a couple days ago asking if the new 411 Auto coming out had 99.7% efficacy as their Amazon ad claimed. Next day, the Amazon ad was gone.
@@hankwangn you're right, thats a play on words. its not a true HEPA filter. It just runs very quietly like one, very quiety. Also it's does not ionize the air at all! I have two 411's and one 211+. I've had them for about 4 years now.
@@jodykidp5396 would you recommend the 411 ? Need it for pet dandruff
Oh
I see the filter is not washable so it's not a good buy until they make one.
Why not? The filters in Blueair 411 are effective and even more effective than some washable filters.
@@AirPurifierFirst And how long do you think the filter will last?
@@mikesmith-yx4xb It will last for six months approx.
@@AirPurifierFirst I f those filters aren't cheap, then I rather wait until for the washable ones that last forever
It's funny how the narrator is telling you to do things one way while the person in the video is doing it another way...
Get a 19 dollar Merross HomKit plug and you get all the timer you need.
Great advice, thanks!
@@AirPurifierFirst I specifically bought the BlueAir just for the fact that it remembered the state after power loss. A lot of air purifiers will reset when power goest out.
Yes, the 411 has that feature, as well as the 211+, which video review I will publish next week.
See these air purifiers with the smoke test aren't really real they really don't work in real world tests with smoke in the room it will help yes but not as good as these tests
Hi @pavy415, thanks for your comment.
Smoke box presentation is real, and, ordinarily, air purifiers do not work as same as in the smoke box, because all rooms are far more spacious than this smoke box.
Anyway, many factors are deserved for efficient air purification in the room eg, room size, air purifier airflow, the size of carbon filter, etc.
@@AirPurifierFirst yup that's somthing I forgot to mention the room size
