People need to stop kidding themselves. Men can and are physically abusive. No question. But women make up for that in being manipulative and mentally abusive. People act like women can do no harm, but put a few women in a room together and watch the fireworks. There's a bias towards women and I'm not saying it is or isn't warranted, but women like this know how to use that to their advantage.

Why do you say that the husband funds their lives? The woman was working at the family business until 2 weeks ago, by her testimony. And yet they claim that the husband “controls the purse strings” so the defendant has no access to any marital assets.
Don’t get me wrong. This woman belongs in jail. But these situations are rarely cut and dry. We have no idea what the alleged victim is like.

The judge is absolutely correct! If the sexes were reversed they wouldn't be blaming the victim. I'm so sick of men being treated differently than women. There is so much unfairness in the justice system when it comes to female criminals. They get much lighter sentences and are treated with kid gloves. It's bs!

The same bias also applies in child care case 95% of the time the woman is granted custody of the children. The custody should be decided by which parent has the best interest of the children, not the sex of the parent.

I believe if a female wants to fight a male then she better be prepared to get hit like one as well. Don't be putting your hands on a male then cry/call cops when you get hit/Knocked the F.O.
My son was taught it's not right to put hands on a female out of anger for a moment. Walk away or take a drive and cool off. But if the female wants to chase after you put hands on you & you need to protect yourself from harm then do so only until the threat is stopped. I taught my girls the same. And if they have spouses that put hands on them even once to call me so we can see if the situation can be helped or to pack their stuff to move back home til it is handled.
I was beaten to the point I begged God to let him finally kill me cause I couldn't go through it anymore. God listened to my cries but took him out instead. The last time he beat me and wrapped a lamp wire around my neck he ended up having a major heart attack. I didn't know at the time I just felt the wire get loose enough for me to get away and run. I came back home to expect another beating but found him dead on the couch. I wish I could say that was the only man that beat me but I had to learn the lesson one more time to finally stand up for myself and I went toe to toe with him & I was able to get away. Never again.

Defense lawyers ask for preposterous stuff every day. I watched a video this morning where a man forcibly raped a 15 year old girl. He groomed her then lured her to get in his car and took her to an isolated place. He had showed her a gun and said he had it during the incident. The girl and her mom gave impact statements and it was heartbreaking. The girl was cutting herself! The defense attorney asked for probation only and the DA agreed they presented a plea bargain to the judge with no jail time where they would plea down to attempted sexual assault from a forcible rape felony. The judge didn’t allow it. He said that if they accept the plea to the lower charge, his sentence would be the maximum which is 10 years in prison. Or the defendant could go to trial for the original charge.
Bottom line is that defense lawyers ask for unreasonable stuff every day. That’s just our legal system.
Keep in mind that the defendant was saying that she didn’t have access to any money at all and that the victim has complete control of all marital assets. If that’s true, that is abusive in itself.
I’m not sure why the abuser so adamantly didn’t want her children left in her husband’s care. But I think that situation needed urgent evaluation for the sake of the children. The woman said her husband doesn’t have any of his biological kids living with them. So why is that?
I believe that the children are the most important consideration in homes where there is domestic violence and their welfare needs to be a top priority.

I have a male friend whose girlfriend called the police on him more than once. She stayed in his home. They weren’t married, so unlike the couple in this video, it was my friend’s home not their home. My friend had access to money at least. So he posted bond and stayed at a hotel and had an electronic tether. The case went to jury trial. One witness was the girlfriend’s brother who testified that when my friend drank to much, it’s awful. How so? Well, when my friend drinks too much, he gets out the karaoke set and he sings. And it isn’t pretty, LOL. Turns out, the accuser had mental health issues and got paranoid at times but she wasn’t being abused. So, despite being arrested twice in Michigan with DV charges, the jury unanimously found him not guilty.
Anyway, my personal experience is that false accusations of DV can and do occur. So I don’t think that the fact that he was the one who called the police proves that she is guilty. I think she is most likely guilty and I think the best possible scenario for her and her children would be that she would dry out from the drugs and get effective drug treatment.

I’m a retired physician. This woman wasn’t “lounging”. She could barely stand up. She was also incoherent at times. Could be sleep deprivation, intoxication or withdrawal. But it could also be a medical issue. She was just in an altercation and could have a subdural hematoma from head trauma, for instance. This woman has no business testifying until she’s evaluated by a doctor.
People regularly die in our country’s county jails. And so many of them have obvious warning signs similar to this woman and are ignored. Keep in mind that no one “let” the defendant contact the victim in this case. If the judge on the original case had a crystal ball, he might have predicted the defendant would violate bond and ordered an electronic tether but he didn’t realize that would happen and we don’t see as many electronic tethers used in Michigan as we do in some other areas. $25,000.00 is actually a very high bond.
Here in Michigan, judges have guidelines. The judges have to go through a process to hold people without bond. The media covered it with the Crumbley case. The parents of the Oxford High School shooter are charged with manslaughter and they tried to flee. But they still actually have bond assigned.
Male abusers get let out on bond often, I’m afraid. We often hear about wives being murdered by their husband who was out on bond for DV.

This attorney isn’t doing a good job at all.
The defendant is obviously somewhat incoherent and should see a doctor. But she seems to be claiming that she has no access to marital assets because her husband completely controls her money. And she also has some sort of issue with her husband being left in complete control of his stepchildren. So there are issues here that need to be evaluated.
I think is good that this woman stay in jail. I also think she should be thoroughly examined by the jail physician. But I think the biggest issue is that we don’t know if her children are safe. Being a victim doesn’t make one a fit parent. And being an alleged victim, like this man is even less evidence that he is fit to parent someone else’s children.

I believe that there are specific procedures under Michigan Court Rules, including the ordering of a show cause hearing where the prosecutor would have to argue for a bond revocation. With that said, it appears that the defendant isn't getting released from Wayne County Jail because of the new bond on this case.
