** Can I donate a whisk(e)y for you to review in The Whisk(e)y Vault?
Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:
austinwhiskyvault.com/whisky-d...
** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

This is probably not the episode I should have came in on as a new viewer.
Or...
Maybe you should...Have you ever seen such excellence before.
or maybe it was the best episode?
No. Start at the beginning of Rex week, and you'll have a good idea of the shenanigans.
No that’s exactly the best episode to stumble into
It's a symphony of terrible.
I came here to get the tasting notes on a $7000 whiskey and got this instead lmao
I was on the fence about the regular coke, but diet coke?!? Ugh.
Moment of silence for all those whiskeys that were tainted with diet coke
Oh, I'm sure they didn't have the heart to do it, definitely replaced it with Jim Beam and edited it out. They can't be that insane!
"Say it ain't so Daniel. Say it ain't so!"
Captn Jack, apparently you haven't watched Whiskey Biscuits. They ARE that insane!
For the love of Barley I hope it was fake. It was killing me.
What tilted me more was that Rex didn't even TASTE IT BEFORE RUINING IT!!!! Like that was the only opportunity he'd probably ever gettt!!!!
well that's the hardest I've ever tripped sober
Sober?
This crap went from 0 to ANIME in all of about fourteen minutes.
This was a wild fucking ride my dudes. Well done. Hopefully Netflix will pick you guys up for a second season.
You have set a high bar for yourselves. What a way to end Rex week. lol
REX MONTH!
Grawbad End? We still have 10 more years of #RexDecade
im dead mid episode
This is why you have a damn safeword people!
Still a better love story than Twilight.
too true
I SWEAR I only had one glass of whiskey, but all of a sudden, there was a bear, Daniel put on a kilt and they had an epic showdown with a tube sock and a plastic knife. WTF was in my glass?
I thought the same. That was more like an absinthe dream! LOL
If I had dreams like that just from drinking absinthe, I'd be a hell of a lot more productive with my writing.
i thought i was sober.......
Same! I wasn't even drinking!
We all just might have auto-brewery syndrome
Laughed so much. You can see the pain in Daniel's face every time he opened the door.
Business proposition for you guys, since this is a non-profit channel, through your whiskey biscuits channel you should do a subscription box where you send 4 sample whiskeys a month, and then have an episode along with it where we can drink along with you!
Duke Wheeler that sounds legit and they’ll need the money to make back what was ruined haha
Awesome Idea.
I would probably subscribe to this.
Yeah depending on how much it cost, this is something I could really get behind. I'm worried that if they did something like that it might be U.S. exclusive though.
It would be a nightmare for a number of reasons.
1.) Sending alcohol via mail is prohibited by Postal laws, however, a third-party courier service is capable of legally transporting and delivering alcohol. Problem there is that kind of service is crazy expensive.
2.) State-to-Sate laws regarding the importation of alcohol: Some states are more highly regulated than others, with some states not allowing it at all.
3.) Taxes!!! There are many different taxes that could apply to the importation of alcohol, varying from state-to-state and the rate at which they are applied.
4.) The only that they could 100% insure that each recipient is of legal age to consume alcohol is for each 'subscriber' to provide a copy of some form of identification. I don't know about you all, but I am not comfortable with the idea of something like that being in the hands of a non-government entity.
I do like the idea, but it would be a logistic and legal nightmare.
wow... Did I just watch two grown men run around in a whiskey haze fighting each other with a plastic sword and a sock??? I did and I loved it! Well done gents. Thanks.
This is the best episode yet..
But i'm still sad for that Macallan M.
Barrett Nuzum they did kinda put kinda put trailer wheels on a pagani with this one
Who cares, its only another overrated Macallen, like the rest of them. Now my heart did die a little at the Glencadam though, THAT is a whisky!
Mine died with the angels envy cask strength...
Aww man that lonach 31 😥
Oh man, been watching your videos for a while and I just lost my shit at this. Great stuff, quality content. You guys inspired me to expand my whiskey collection and I've been really impressed by all the recommendations of this channel. Keep it up and I'll keep tuning in.
The only question now is "How many awards is this going to get at Cannes?"
Rex is a great actor
wow
Better than Day-Lewis and Di Craprio thats for certain.
God what an amazing video!!! Funniest video by far!!
Man i love you guys, had me smiling the whole time, please tell me Daniel made the shot legitimately
this is the equivalent of having your nuts in a fucking vice. A moment of silence for a fallen somm. #TeamDaniel #RexWeekWasAMistake
nevermind, that was beautiful...
I am not one to engage with a video in the comments, but this was an incredibly entertaining video (not to say this should be done more, once was great). Keep doing what yall are doing, love this channel.
At first I just thought Rex has gone completely mad. Drunk off of power.
This would have made a good halloween episode. The Scariest thing? Running out of whisky.
I started to regret rooting for Rex week when he requested second whisky to the same glass and almost unsubscribed when he said "on the rocks"...
Juraj Hura I’m sure the blend was fantastic.... but the rock ....
Nevermind it was worth it, the mooch did it !
I'm really enjoying discount Will Wheaton.
Keep up the awesome work!
Robert Pierce hahahahah discount Will Wheaton. That's awesome.
I swear I haven't dropped acid in over 20 years.... what is going on?!?!?! I need a safe space!!!! Did he just demand DIET coke?!?!?!?
But honestly... EPIC!
I feel like it should come with a warning. "All stunts performed by trained experts. Do not attempt any of this at home. No actual whisk[e]y was harmed in the making of this episode "
Oh my god you guys nailed it!!! RIP To all this amazing Whisk(e)y by the way
I am still crying for that whisky! How could they! HOW COULD THEY! MONSTERS!
An epic battle to rule the vault. I never thought I would see Eagle VS Bear in the vault. Well done.
HOLY crap..I had to pause this several times to brace myself... WELL DONE.
Rex sounded like ben stiller in heavyweights at the beginning. One of the best videos ive ever seen
Another brilliant video, sad I didn’t discover you guys sooner.
Quinton Lennox I actually read this as sober which totally changes it and makes it even more awesome.
Matthew Cross dammit now I wish that was my comment. Time to fix the sober problem, the moochy way...
I’m catching up on old episodes and this was just hilarious. You guys need another Rex week. Poor Daniel...remember “Margaret Thatcher”
That was EPIC in a way that only a true master of the Mooch Arts and a Wizard Somme can achieve. You have warmed my nerdy heart on a damp and cold night. Well done!
And Daniel has redeemed himself with kilt and skean dhu!
I have to say I love the rain in the background. Need that in all my youtube videos now.
What a fucking intro.
Found this channel at 2AM last night. It’s almost midnight now, so that’ll make it 22 hours straight. Only took an hour break for physical therapy. Who’s the mooch now?!
I think watching this episode while being mildly delirious is the only way!
Good Scotch and a kilt; what a great combination.
This was such an awesome episode. Obviously you can't do stuff like this all the time, or it kills it, but this was a huge success. Great job!
Holy crap this is better than some of the recent Hollywood flops.
This was fucking awesome hahahaha
PS I'm kind of sad Rex Month is over hahaha
Niall Graham just one week in
From a guy who grew up next to Heaven hill and Barton’s, Middleton Very Rare is one of the best whiskeys I’ve ever had!
This threw me for a loop! Nice !
Best episode yet
Carson Price, email Daniel about visiting if you're still in Austin.
"Whiskey Vault: The dark Somm rises"
Rex week is probably the greatest achievement in the history of all mankind. Name one achievement better? You can't......
Seriously loved the vids this week guys, this needs to be an annual event for sure
That was the most amazing week of episodes ever!!!! The culmination was even better that was so cool!
So... imagine being in my shoes right now where I've come to the channel and watched a couple of reviews between two guys who seem like pretty good friends and then suddenly today THIS appears in my suggested videos and I'm quite sure I've fallen through a hole in the universe or something hahaha! This is hilarious!!! But also... what's going onnnn?
This was my first video that I watched it took me another 35 episodes to understand the complexity of this episode 😂😂😂
The memes. Dear god, the memes.
Looked up Whiskey and found this. I am never leaving now.
Most informative whisky review I’ve ever witnessed.
Welcome back, Waldo. You've been missed. #WheresRexdo
Does anyone remember when this channel was about whisky? Yeah, I dont either.
Not everyone can be here since episonde 3 :D
What's Whisky and how does it feel on your body? Nevermind, i'm here for the shenanigans.
Just came across this and you have inspired me to mix my MVR Very Rare Dair Ghaelach Kylebeg Forest with Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Well done.
You had me all on board for Rex Week, just incredible!! But alas you defiled five or six whiskys that i can even get a sniff of, so now i want the old informative whisky vault back please!!!!
That was beautiful
Please tell me that those expensive whisky's weren't actually harmed during the making of this video...
Enjoy the channel soo much !! Best team and reviews. This was hysterical!
Rex was having an absolute blast with this.
Holy S#%T, best thing on youtube!!
What have you done?!?
Best episode, hail to the Mooch!
Jeffery E Petrone
'Mooch did nothing wrong'
#RexMental, #WalkThePlank
wow, just wow. Ya'll know how to take a simple act completely out of proportion. Love it.
Keep doing the mixing every so often that was my favorite part of Rexweek!
It was painful to watch Diet Coke being poured into that blend of whiskies. I'm glad Daniel is in charge again.
Especially when he didn't actually drink it...
What do you guys think would happen if you teamed up with ralfy..
One could only hope. Someday
Absolutely brilliant! This channel is the best thing on UA-cam
This was so amazing on so many levels!
Hey Daniel, how bad is this thing about whisky forgery? I've read up on it and it seems to be pretty common.
for rare bottles decently common. happened to someone i know, they got a bottle that had been refilled with something alot cheaper, and that bottle was only worth hundreds, now think about stuff like glen fiddich 40 year old..... where theres money to be made fakers will come.
Definitely a problem. It's why I refuse to sell collectors edition empty bottles from the vault.
daniel can i have the macallan m bottle if i promise to drill a hole into it and turn it into a lamp :P
lol jks, but seriously ive seen people do that with old bottles, that or drill a hole into them to turn them into hookahs and or over devices.
bmxriderforlife1234 its a decanter dude!
shhhhhhhhhh those are just fancy bottles :P cant lie itd be a preeeeeetty fuckin baller lamp though.
Dudes....that was Epic!
This is a such a great channel. I'm not new to the Whisky world yet after 60 videos, give or take; I now know why I love specific brands and flavor profiles. But also, because of you I tripled my whisky collection, and for a poor M.A student such as I it's worth a small fortune. Now, I recently picked up a Glen Elgin 12 and I would love to hear your opinion, what can I expect in term of flavor?
Transcendent. Truth on multiple levels.
Again, and again, and again and again and again, again n' again, yes, yes, yes! (the horribly slow murder with the highly inefficient weapon)
Yes yes dbz over 9000
Long time lurker here. My liver and I want to thank you for broadening and embiggening my whisk(e)y palate and showing me how to properly mooch. That being said, as entertaining as this episode was.......... What the f@#$ didI just watch?!? Keep up the good work guys. If I'm ever in Austin, I'm making it a point to visit The Vault.
Best episode so far. Love you guys.
I really, really don't feel like I'm able to like this video.
KaiguGames
Try watching post whisky.
There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to start.
Ohh no wait, there is only one thing wrong with this: Rex. Rex is wrong. As always,
This is better than anything that I could ever imagine!!!
Love this channel more and more with each episode! Keep it up guys!
I'm so glad that I subscribed to this channel!
I've been binge watching you guys for the past few weeks. I'm definitely a fan of your knowledge mixed with witty, lighthearted banter between two guys who obviously enjoy each other's company. I could see myself hanging with guys and being a 60 year old lawyer egghead, I don't say that all that often. I want you to keep up the good work, but honestly guys, I think you jumped the shark with this one. Rex, you are too cool of a guy to become a caricature. Your chemistry with Daniel works well when it is relaxed and natural - in fact, I think it is superb and the main reason you have become my favorite whisk(e)y guys. The more it becomes contrived and cartoonish, the less I like it. Rex week has been the full blown manifestation of what I have seen slowly developing over the sequence of your videos. So let's dial it back a bit boys and "keep it real" as the "yutes" like to say.
......Of course I think Laphroaig tastes like smoldering wet ass, so what do I know?!
I'm drinking Johnie Red with ice and loving it!!!
Oh my goodness, I couldn't stop giggling throughout the entire episode :D
Best Episode. In honor of Darth Mooch and #rexmonth last night I mooched my friends Gentlemen Jack thrice at his place and then he bought us a round of Glenlivet 18 at dinner. May the Mooch be with you!
Greetings!
I just found your channel. I’m really glad I’ve been binge watching them before stumbling on this episode. That was both creepy and entertaining. 😁
Keep up the great job fellas.
Omg (I know this is 3 years old), this is one of the most brilliant episodes!
Easily the best episode yet!!!!
Now that episode was awesome. Loved it.
I'm so glad I can upon this video lol I've been watching a lot of your videos since the beginning of this quarantine. You'll are the reason I'm broke. Bought 4 bottles of whiskey the past 4 days haha
I'm impressed both of them did their own stunts. That was some Jackie Chan level shit Rex was pulling with that tube sock.
Why did I learn more about whiskey from this episode than any other episode? Odd. Thank you.
You guys are having WAY too much fun! KEEP IT UP!!!!!! :)
This is so good, i've watched it a hundred times
I had no idea this was coming and it made my Friday night of drinking so much better. :D
Whoa, Dude! What an excellent adventure!!
The best rex episode so far. My 5th time watching it and a different whiskey each time 😁
You guys kill me! Hilarious. Here’s to keeping it fresh 👊🏻 cheers 🥃
Made me feel some type of way...... Just went back to see if there was a previous "Rex Month", and there was. Seemingly interesting how it ended. I must say that Daniels skills with mixing are above par. I can't imagine how Rex will beat this magnificent display of moochiness, and amazing show of talent with both socks and selections!
Killer ending to Rex week. You should definitely make "poor man's versions" a regular thing.
I don’t know what the hell I just watched, but it was just the right amount of childish antics and buffoonery to enjoy. Keep on entertaining #Rexweek was great.
I have seen this video at least 10 times now. It does not matter how many more times I see it, it is still one of my all-time favorites, if not the.
Best. Week. Ever!!! Well done!
This entire video was a ride and I loved every minute of it. I can't believe the crime rex committed when asking for Ice and coke. My heart nearly sank. Great video! Keep it up guys!!
