Home is filled with things we love, not following every trend, I have finally realized that! ❤️❤️
Lauri , you’re a joy to listen to. You share so much. Love from Texas
Thanks for listening
It is so refreshing that you embrace a decor style that isn’t hum drum, like everyone else. Your home is so uniquely decorated and beautiful! 😊
Thank you so much!!
I love your home because it is uniquely you. I feel the same about my home. I do not know anyone whose home looks like mine. It is truly a curated space that reflects my taste, my life, my family and my trinkets and treasures. I know that you feel that those things just give us pleasure too. Remembering people, places and memories in our surroundings is very comforting.
Love that!
I love your style. I would call it cluttered...in the very best sense of that word. However, not everyone can do what you do. I was in a home last year and the owner loved to go to auctions. And she loved to buy. Her home was filled to the brim with tables, cupboards, shelves, mirrors, paintings and ornaments galore. Nothing matched, not in design or colour and it just looked so junky. Every room was filled with stuff.
So I don't know how you do what you do, Lauri. You have the knack for putting mismatched items together and creating elegance. Some do this and it produces chaos.
So you're saying my style is controlled chaos? Love it!
@@stonecottageadventures304 Well "controlled chaos" might be one way to describe it. Whatever....your house and garden always look fabulous.
Thank you for this. For your good advice. I decorate with heirlooms and I love it. My husband's and mine and they're mixed in with elegance. I love what you've done and your living room and bedrooms and all, are knock-outs. ❤
Sounds great!
Everything in your home is even more beautiful because of its history. I wish I had furniture that belonged to my parents. I love vintage and antiques.
Now's the time to collect for YOUR grandchildren!
I’ve always done what gives me joy. I don’t follow trends.
I love lamps, clocks and mirrors.
Great items - Me too!
Love this video. You are blessed to have inherited so many beautiful treasures.
When you zoomed in on the peach picture to show the cat scratches, I saw a small yellow cat there that looked like it was smeared out. Ha.
Beautiful shots of the Dallas sky. Your home is really gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
The story about hanging pictures tickled me. My twin sister is exactly like your mom and I’m exactly like your Aunt!
Send her to the hardware store!
I love how you have your home decorated and thanks for sharing the stories behind some of the pieces.
Thanks for watching!
Love any opportunity to look at all corners of your lovely home! I have two different "styles" in my home, and they actually work together because the rooms are separate from one another (no open floor plan), and the colors are from the same families. My family room and living room are "primitive" with Amish/shaker-type furniture and lamps and accessories (new) and a color scheme of forest green and red/burgundy and gold; and my dining room and three bedrooms are traditional, filled with mahogany family furniture, figurines, brass, silver, elegant lamps, and a coral and soft green color scheme. I have in my bedroom the (reupholstered) sofa that was in my parents' living room all their lives - and have photos of dozens of the important people in my life sitting on that couch, going back to before I was born.
Color is great way to create a cohesive home!
I love the way you've decorated your home. I especially enjoy the older art pieces and furniture
Thank you so much!
I was born and raised in colorado then married a Texsan and now live in Texas west first now East Texas! I kind of mirror whst you did! Enjoyed watching Thank you
Thanks for sharing!! There's a lot of back and forth with Texas and Colorado that most people might not be aware of.
I love the blue bonnet picture over your bed!! This was very pleasant, and everything is arranged so nicely in your home. I would be interested in a video on combining patterns. :)
Thank you so much!
I love your home and the stories you tell. I'm a new viewer and it took me years to realize where my style came from. Spent summers on my Grandparents' 1800s farm and spent winters in a city apartment built in 1895, so it stands to reason I love old things. Wish I had more family pieces. I do want to move at some point and still worry about resale value in my cookie cutter neighborhood.
Love that! The good news is that most people want cookie cutter - just not me.
Oh how I love that northern colonial look. But like you, my home is an eclectic mix and I think that makes for the most intresting. Stories within everything.
I totally agree!
Couldn’t agree more !
So important the confidence part...
you have a beautiful gorgeous home….love it love it love it👍🙏❤️
Thanks for visiting
Absolutely brilliant as usual. I totally get it.
Thank you kindly!
I love your home and how you live with treasures that have a story but I really love how you celebrate your style, it's definately not boring like so many homes which have the trendiest furnishings colour palette ect, I live in Melbourne Australia in a mid century home decorated with antiques and older style furnishings I've always been drawn to that style I have many Charity store items like lamps candlesticks with hurricanes and some lovely paintings really it's a combination of styles that I love I've lived in my lovely home for 50 years , thank you so much for your video you feel like a kindred spirit.
Thanks for your sweet comment!
I could use your confidence for sure, especially combining eras for that curated look - not hodge podge and not like a catalog shoot either.
The more you try new ideas, the more confidence you will build!
Love your channel and content! The bluebonnet painting above the bed looks like something my grandfather would have painted. His name was George Chappell. He lived in Texas. Would love to see more about mixing colors and patterns! 😊
Oh wow! It is a pastel created by an woman who lived in Palestine, TX. I love having it. I'm sure your treasure the art created by your grnadfather.
Thank you for being authentic & genuine to your tastes. It is so refreshing & encouraging to see your home. I am tired of cookie cutter decorating.
Love your style of decorating and I too love things with a history and you can find them all around my house. The story about how the painting got damaged is lovely and made me laugh!
Thanks for sharing!!
I would love to ear about using patterns.Your home is beautifully decorated!!
Ok thanks!
We lived in Fort Davis Texas (which no one seems to know where that is😁) . Yes it's desert but very beautiful 💝
I went to Girl Scout camp at Mitre Peak. My memory of Fort
Davis was the corral made of tree branches that were stuck in the ground and then grew into trees. Am I remembering that correctly?? (And Fort Davis is prettier than Odessa.)
Loved the video, Lauri! I always enjoy hearing your family stories....I was picturing you throwing your cat up in the air and it coming down on the peach painting! That piece of art is priceless, with the claw marks still there! ♥♥
Glad you enjoyed it!
I decorate the same. I pick up things i like and pay no attention to trends. I've been asked often if i am a decorator by trade. I just use what i like. I think out of the box.
The truly great decorators always surprise!
It’s great art due to your story! Tells your story. Exactly what I like in my homes!
So true!
😂😂😂 great story !
That pic is truly a treasure !
(❤)
It really is!
I feel like we've lived parallel lives! You in the South, me in the North, lol. Our taste and style are so similar. Brava to your talent and beautiful home. Here's to your next wonderful video. Cheers dear lady!
So cool!
We are from west Texas also…I knew there was a reason I love watching you, we are from the Big Spring,Abilene, Moran area, and yes I decorate in the everything happy style, family memorabilia furniture, and things my family has handed down, I love that style more than anything else, I also have shelves full of books, and beautiful old dark furniture.my house looks a lot like yours, the Walkers and Webbs have a big influence n my house.
I also have bluebonnet paintings too
That is awesome! There is something very genuine about west Texas folk.
Loved this talk thank you
You are so welcome!
I have Kate Spade sheets (flannel with polar bears) and blue and white checkerboard/buffalo. I made a poncho power pillowcase with Kate Spade pillowcases that took 4 minutes. Kate Spade has her tag on the outside of the pillowcases. I love my ponchos. They are fully lined, high thread count, and have deep pockets, as big as pillowcases! If you sew, I can tell you how to make them in 5 minutes.
She was definitely a lady with style.
And a ? History
@@patriciareed3510 of Kate Spade or something else?
@@stonecottageadventures304 I used to be a crisis line volunteer. There would be fewer suicides if people talked about solutions to feelings. Kate Spade did commit suicide. The lady who plays Mrs. Maisle is her niece.
I love your guidance because it give me confidence too. I'd love a tutorial on combining patterns also. Thank you!
Thanks for letting me know.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
I can't believe the headboard survived a fire! What a dramatic story
Uncle Sutton was playing Halloween with paper pumpkins in the attic with the house keeper's daughter while the family was at church. Imagine!
Wonderful video! And great advice.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Too funny, but correct! When I was young and desperately wanted to be trendy, I was all about chrome and glass and vivid colours. Then I took a sharp turn and decided that country was my style and went at it with a vengeance! Well...that worked out well.
Now that I am old and relaxed and comfortable, my style is not even a style. It is what decorators like to call 'curated.' Which is just another word for treasuring the things that I love.
And nothing is more perfect!
I hope Kirby didn’t overhear what you used to do for kicks! 😅
He climbs on the dining table and then bites me hard enough to break the skin. I am much nicer to him than he deserves! And he wants me to send you a greeting -- Meow!
