Great finds. Interesting about the blue and white dishes. Blue and white anything is timeless to me and so easy to mix and match. It was fun listening to your thought process while styling your pieces.
I think you have the most perfect home! Love your style and inherited and thrifted items. I’m never very lucky here and rarely find anything. People tell me you have to go often which I just don’t do. The thrift store prices have gone up so much this past year and no more senior discount. At least I get to watch what others are finding and doing.
Thank you for your sweet comment. Like I said in the video, I hit 6 stores and found NOTHING in 4 of them. But that's still better odds than than a casino!
OH my goodness... that copper chafing dish is a total score! I never find anything like that at my thrift stores. Yes , in an antique store , at 5 times the price! I always have a cast iron cookbook holder on the kitchen counter with a seasonal cookbook opened to an enticing recipe! Those weighted chains are perfect for that . My favorite spot is the sideboard with the gorgeous painting, brass sconces and copper pan on the wall. I think the copper chafing dish would look awesome there ,on the other side of the copper wall pan. Now I want to go thrifting tomorrow!!!! The perfect thing to do on a nice fall day!
I love watching your decorating skills. My grandmother had tons of do-dads in her house which at that time in my life I didn’t have any appreciation for. Several years later she passed while I was living in Colorado. No one in the family bothered to tell me she was gone and when I came back home her other grandchildren had disposed of everything. I love antique stores and second hand shops where I see so many of the pieces that I remember she had. Unfortunately I can’t afford to buy everything at once that I remember seeing in her home. You do a wonderful job of putting different things together and making them look wonderful.
Sweet lady I just love you. Your home is so cozy. All your decor is lovely. I have a few thrifted blue and white dishes. I’m decorating 😮a thrifted table top flocked tree with chinoiserie ornaments I purchased on sale at Hobby Lobby. Using blue velvet ribbon. If you’re ever in Dallas I would love to meet you and buy you lunch. Hugs from Texas
You have an artist's eye and a poet's heart. I love the vignettes that you created. I adore Royal Copenhagen, but can't afford it. Imagine that you got a saucer for 99 cents. The other "knock offs" blend beautifully. You turn the bargains into treasures.
What wonderful treasures you found, Lauri! We obviously have the same taste since I would have had every single one of those items in my cart too! Your vignettes turned out so beautifully. I was saying to myself, the spoon display would look nice with some greenery, and voila, the ivy appeared! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do for Christmas!
Always enjoy seeing inside your lovely home. Thrifting is new to me (as is UA-cam!) within the last year or so, but I have found some things that are not valuable per se but have been really fun and helpful now that I am learning to layer when decorating shelves, for instance.
You really found some beautiful treasures! I love the arrangements you made with them. I love to thrift and have found many wonderful item 👍😊. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Absolutely lovely. Such fun to watch your video. I love blue and white dishes and copper. What a deal you got on those reindeer. I saw them at a thrift store near me and they cost much more. Thanks this was wonderful.
Years ago I had those blue and white dishes from the Mason Co. I wish I still had them! I thrifted a very well made toile lampshade for a lamp in my bedroom and it goes perfectly with my curtains. It was only 8$. Lamps are my passion, so it was really exciting for me.
Enjoy watching you create vignettes. Like seeing your process as well as the result. I have to tell you that I recently inherited a complete set of Royal Copenhagen, the same pattern that you have. I do love it so seeing how you decorated with it was great fun. ❤
Very pretty, love the process from discovery, trying placement options, finishing etc, all just looks graciously elegant as always. Thanks for sharing ❤
Brava on all your finds, I love them all, but that copper chafing dish is just YOWZA. I haven't collected any copper yet but you've got me thinking I should keep my eyes open! Thanks for all the inspiration. Cheers dear lady!
The D.C.area has lots of turn-over because of government and military personnel. I had a daughter in Arizona for a while, and the thrift stores were loaded because of the retired sunbirds. My daughter in Michigan also has great thrifts stores because of the elderly population. Maybe thrift shop when you travel!
I know now why I love your home and style so much for we have the same taste in accessories. The copper, brass, wall hangings and dinner ware. Just to name a few.😊 Referring to treasures, I found at a local thrift The Georgian Collection by Churchill in a platter. I really didn't need another platter. However, this one caught my eye for sure. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Happy Thanksgiving..
Such fun to see what others find out thrifting. I love red and green transfer ware but it’s getting harder and harder to find since the flipping craze. I’m more of an eclectic/primitive decorator myself but I love to watch what others are decorating with. I am not a minimalist but I have no problem with how others decide is enough. When I go thrifting I have but one rule and that is…do I really like it. I don’t buy just because it’s worth a bunch if I don’t like it. I’ll leave it for someone else. I do most of my thrifting at Habitat for Humanity now because to many of the thrift stores in my area let shoppers seal off aisles and you just aren’t getting a chance to thrift so I don’t bother. Thanks for sharing your treasures and your styling thoughts. You got some really nice things at an even nicer price. Happy Fall to you!!!:):):)
You asked for stories about things we've thrifted. This happened to me just two weeks ago: my Mother was here to visit from Florida, and as we stood in my little cottage, she exclaimed over a darling vintage McCoy vase I'd gotten from Good Will. It's one of those pieces that's old but is in style again, so she asked if it was new. I said, "oh goodness no! It's old as dirt. I think it was made in 1941." She raised her eyebrow, laughed and said dryly, "that was the year I was born." Oops! I bought us a nice lunch to make up for that one 😂
My daughter was highly indignant when she was told she had a geriatric pregnancy. I've just accepted the fact that I am old. As my mother used to say, "Better than the alternative."
A thrift store I buy at more than others is Value Village. They support the American Kidney Foundation. I also go to other places and find great things. I was watching a show in France with China, and there were loads of blue and white dishes. Are you planning to go to France one day? I know it is easier to save money in thrift stores and online. My thing is checkerboard blue and white! I save money since there isn’t that much out there!
@@stonecottageadventures304 you know I wanted to share the largest French Flea Market piece with you since the china appeared similar. Dreaming of a visit to France 🇫🇷 is a fun idea.
I just went today and bought some silver plated bowls and am forcing narcissus and amaryllis in them for an elegant but inexpensive white elephant gift
I can't believe you have solved my mystery! I found identical ones on Etsy. "Tobacco Pipe Stand ~ Dinkelspiel Cole 1920's European Pipe" Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me, Sherry! I am more excited than you know!!!
Look: your Denmark pieces are so lovely that I have an idea! By the time I save enough to go to the US, do establish “Stone Cottage Adventure Afternoon Tea” and I’ll find myself at your table sipping tea and having your sconces and pies and listening to thrifting and grandmother stories, as well as French decor inputs first hand! For a fee, for die-hard subscribers…. Nice idea, no?
I really enjoyed watching your video. I have been having a lot of fun over the years doing exactly the same thing. Every trip is a treasure hunt. Years ago I bought ❤a majolica plate for $1.98 when I got home I looked it up to find out it was worth $500 to $600. My granddaughter was with me when I bought it. She had said, you are going to buy that! That is why I still call it treasure hunting.
Since my son is in a very large wheelchair, we need to keep the space as open as possible. That's also why we have the large open area between the kitchen and the dining table. If you woud like to meet Daniel, he is in my video about accessbile design - 99 Life Changing Designs! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it.
Your video was miles ABOVE others Pure content.great photos and excellent verbal explanations. So much better than southern bells seated in a chair and blathering¡ I typed in belles not bells.loved your ideas. Many kudos to you from BC CANADA. How can I find more of your work? I'm practically computer illerterate. Salut as we say in French up here.
Wow, thank you! Stone Cottage Adventures is the name of my UA-cam channel. There should be a link at the end of each video to recommend another of my videos you might like. And you can Subscribe to be notified when I put out new videos. Just be warned - I am doing a food video each day during February. But home decorating and gardening are my ususal focus. I will continue to do those too! I just feel like people don't know how to cook easy, delicious, healthy meals anymore without spending a fortune.

In the final film clip you have a covered cake plate with various things inside. I have one just like it and would to know what’s inside.
I keep 5 woven willow balls inside and change out faux and dried florals seasonally.

It took me 30 years to come up with the ivy idea, and you did it instantly. I'm feeling a bit sheepish.
I love your cozy beautiful home. Thx for sharing your treasures with us.

Fabulous price for Stiffle. That's the kind of find that gets you addicted!
Looks very nice- what is your music? Lovely-
The music is what UA-cam provides for free for content makers. I liked it too.
Put a riser under the plate to elevate it.
I thought about that but wanted to keep it lower than the chafing dish. Because of your encouragement, I'm going to try that right now!
😀😀
I haven’t seen any new videos? I miss them.
If you decide not to use it as a chafing dish, the bottom would make a beautiful plant stand!
