Halo Easter Eggs in Destiny (Destiny 2) - Bungie Easter Eggs

- Опубліковано 27 лип 2019
- Destiny 2 has a lot of Halo easter eggs and references put into the game by developer Bungie. Halo easter eggs in Destiny 2 and the original Destiny. Destiny 2 Halo weapons are reminisced of Bungie's Halo days. While Destiny 1 Halo easter eggs were limited, there are many Destiny 2 Halo easter eggs.

These are all quite large stretches...
First off -- the cryo pod one is more than likely a reference to the main character in Marathon based off that "thousand lifetimes" mention since Marathon: Infinity dealt with that series' main character jumping between parallel realities. Jumping between a plethora of different realities and all of the insanity from the Marathon series seems way more like "enough for a thousand lifetimes" than the comparatively simpler war between the Covenant and Flood the Chief faced.
That hangar having a vaguely similar layout is "no way coincidental"? It's... a hangar. Like, c'mon, the hangar aboard the Truth & Reconciliation also had a very similar layout only larger. There's a "large open space, a catwalk in the middle, two large windows, and while it's not identical in layout depending on the angle you look at it from," it's still very similar. Because... it's a hangar.
And oh my lord, the strong and silent type?? Yes, a *common* phrase is a reference to Halo. Perhaps it's a reference to Gordon Freeman. Maybe it's a reference to The Sopranos episode of the same name? Or it's a just a reference to the very common phrase/trope.
Destiny makes far more references/allusions to their other past titles such as Pathways Into Darkness & Marathon than Halo. One of the original ViDocs was even titled "Pathways Out of Darkness" and others have noted how similar the lore/plot of the Destiny franchise is to a reversal of that game specifically. I'm not saying these are definitively NOT references to Halo, they could be! But they're still stretches without Bungie confirmation or more concrete easter eggs. More than half of them seem like generic, vague coincidences more than intentional easter eggs.
That was definitely Grunt Birthday Party, though.
I thought the pod was confirmed to be Master Chief though. Maybe not. I agree 99% of these are bullshit though. Virgil looks legit, as does grunt birthday party.
I'd say it's kind of a Reach for most of these tbh.

1: might be legit
2: literally a standard sniper that looks/sounds nothing like the halo SR
3: I see the similarity but it's a big stretch.
4: 'it's called gulch! Halo 1 had a gulch!' Ffs it doesn't even look similar.
5: it's literally a standard world texture
6: yeah this ones legit
7: might be a reference, yeah
8: strong silent type is a really common tropes in video games. It ain't a reference to halo, but the trope.
9: 'look a hangar! Halo 2 had a hangar!'
The gulches look pretty similar to me, in outside border design.. tunnel on one side long side, ramp-ledge along facing long side, with a dividing peninsula of wall between the two bases.. the rear overpass road in D2 (to the north), corresponds to a common glitch/prank spot for Scorpion tanks to drive up onto in H1 and for banshees to land for sniper fans.. the tunnel in D2 follows a similar direction as does the Blood Gulch tunnel.. I can see it =)
How is a face a standard world texture???
Okay but that hangar has the same exact structure as the one in Cairo Station. Even has the gunship in the same spot.
The hangar is basically identical, with the catwalk, ship in place of a pelican, etc. It might just be a coincidence, but having played H2 enough to see the similarities, I don't think so
Then again, I haven't really seen many hangars

Grunt Birthday originally appeared in Halo 2, but it instead functioned where if you headshot a Grunt, they would explode like a plasma grenade. Starting from Halo 3 onwards, it would replace the plasma grenade explosion with confetti and children saying 'Yay'. Also, in regard to Cayde's message about calling the Guardian the 'strong silent type', his voice actor, Nathan Fillion, also voiced Buck in Halo.

"A rare exotic sniper"
...... *Thats a legendary*
7:24 it’s a hanger what did you expect
It's closer to the Truth & Reconciliation covenant ship hanger design I think.. the wall-high forward-slanted doors with force-fields, the central higher platform between sections.. the orientation of the room with regard to the direction across them that the story takes you (doors on the left side)..
Honestly, most of these are really a stretch, and I think they're more coincidence, than intentional Easter Eggs. And I thought you'd mention how SUROS side arms looks identical to the Halo Magnum, without the hand guard.

Apparently in shadow keep they were planning on adding in an exotic smg called the strong and silent type which was going to be an almost exact replica of the halo 3 ODST suppressed smg and its perk would be that when breaking an opponent’s shield melee hits would deal extra damage and finishers would grant grenade energy

I actually found that Fallen Dance club easter egg completely on accident, just went AFK for a moment right before the room instead of running straight into it and missing it, instead when I came back to my computer I was greeted to some very pleasant music. I didn't actually make the connection in my head that it was related to Reach though, even though I also knew of that easter egg. Guess it was so long ago that I forgot about it.
You forgot how there's a legendary in destiny 2 that's called Distant Relations and it looks similar if not identical to the DMR in Halo
Using it feels so much like a DMR as well.
If only they put master chief in destiny as more then just an Easter egg.
Masterchief wouldn't work in Destiny. He has no powers. As soon as he got powers beyond his armor, like floating around or shooting lighting or doing anything magical like in Destiny, he'd cease to be Masterchief.
The Cairo Station similarity was probably the most noticeable resemblance. Cool video
