Im 60 years old not much gets me excited these days but those old knives are just down right sexy😅. Looks like a nice rainy day project cleaning and sharpening with your daughter. Good ones to pass on to her someday. Take care

Wow there's a lot of history there you got to understand that all that sharpening was for a reason that gentleman used those knives for what they were made for those are fantastic items and they have a lot of history I traded those same knives in the classroom in school when I was in junior high

Great acquisition. The old guy that owned those knives whittled and those knives were deliberately reprofiled, not worn by sharpenibg. Yoj can tell by the straight line edges coming to a point, in the sa.e fashion on all the knives he whittled with. The big old ten penny nail was likely used as a sharpening steek to put the edge back on as he dulled the blades.

As a casual whittler I see the red jigged bone Stockman as being where it's at for detail work.

Very cool, I was just doing some research on these and I saw some called the wolf and another called the fox. Mine has the remnants of an animal stamp on the handle but I cannot tell what it is. Thanks for the insight!

Sorry im a bit late, this one got by me! Real nice collection!! I dont mind wear and bumps and bruises on my knives, helps me appreciate the history. The stag is my favorite as well with the red bone following after. I have a split back whittler case in stag from the 40s that I like alot. Thanks!!

Cool video thumbs up. Can't you send most of these knives back to the factory and have them put new blades on them? If so with they put USA Stamped blades on them?

Defenitly the man was a Whittler,
These blades are not all shaped like that because they where over used and abused,
This man shaped these blades with a grinder to give them that shape?
It's too obvious they all have the same shape except the big ones?
I got a Old Timer wood working knife model OT24 and the main whittling blade is shaped almost exactly live these knives of yours?

The Remington one almost looks like it's missing a small can opener attachment or something. Just sayin.

We figured out it is a cigar box opener tool to pry up little nails that hold the lid on a cigar box.
