    I should add also I shoot with the SL1 option in the Silent Live View menu.
    After initially setting up my Nikon D850 many years ago for birds and wildlife - I’ve never had to change that focal set up for all the photography I’ve done since, including portrait, studio, astro, landscape, macro.
    Who agrees the Nikon D850 is a great “all rounder”DSLR? 🤙📸

    I love my D850, but have always believed it had more functionality than I could access. Your explanation of separating focusing from shooting has really got me thinking, and I'll start the re-education of my fingers this weekend!

    What a great approach! Makes it so simple. You get stunning shots each time, so there's the proof it works. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice shot there at the end. I started using back button focus years ago and now it is just part of muscle memory. Great tips as always!

      Thanks for watching Leo. Yes it's funny hpw it becomes so normal after a while of using back button focus. I remember when I first tried it, I was like urghhh, haha. But you do see the advantages and get used to it. Have a great weekend, cheers

    Thanks, Adrian! That is always the first thing I do when I get a new camera body, turn off focus from the shutter button.

      Cheers Phil, yes I do the exact same. I'm so used to back button focus now. Have a great weekend buddy 📸🙏

    It puts a smile on my face, knowing I employ some of the same techniques with the D850 as you do, sir. I’ve utilized the near identical method in Live View to grab portrait shots of owls in ridiculously low light and at very slow shutter speeds sometimes with remarkably good results. Thanks as always.

    Hi Adrian, a great video, buddy! I wished my Sony would support such a "touch to focus" function :) But I like its memory function, which is quite useful when you want to switch quickly between modes, such as wildlife and landscape.
    I liked the example images, as well!
    Enjoy your weekend,
    Christian

      Thanks for watching Christian. The raw files out of the D850 are the best I’ve worked with. Pretty amazing camera all round really. Have a great weekend buddy, take care 📸🙏

    I’m thinking of upgrading and going for a new wildlife setup being the Nikon D850 camera body with a 300mm F4 PF Lens with the 1.4x Mark 3 TC! Would love to hear what your thoughts are on this particular setup!? Thanks

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. Personally if I was going for a purely wildlife setup today t would be going for a Canon R7 + Canon 100-500mm lens. The 1.6 crop gives you 800mm (without a tele) plus you get brilliant focus and eye detect. All for close to the price of just a D850 body. But that’s just me. Your needs maybe different. For the D850 wildlife lens either the Nikon 200-500 or 500mm pf lenses would be my choice.

    You're so in love with your DSLR:s so there's rarely a video with the Z7 in the main role.

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  Рік тому

      I've been using all my cameras equally of late. The Z7 I use for video and landscape photography. For example I have a video next week talking about the Nikon Z 14-30mm F4 lens which sits on my Z7 practically permanently.

    Adrian this is your number 1 fan from Boston, PLEASE 🙏 can you always put what lens on Camera is printed on upper left or right of Video clip from beginning and throughout your Video, I am Elderly and have O.C.D. And it would help me Greatly to :Remember the Lens your using, And Yes you mostly all the Time mention the Lens your using, but the Time it takes me to locate a piece of Paper & Pen the Video is over, it Truly sLucks going back an d forward to find the Lens your using, and if you'd include ISO, Aperture last ShutterSpeed, It would Surely help me BigTime.!

    I am sad because one day i will have buy a tiny mirrorless, to replace my fantastic D850!

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  Рік тому

      Buy another D850 before they're discontinued. I'm thinking about doing that, but who knows what the Z8 will bring in a couple of weeks time?

    • @paulmitchell1580
      @paulmitchell1580 Рік тому

      @@adrianalfordphotography That sounds like a good idea, The rumours are saying that the Z8 is going to be bigger than the Z7, which will be interesting.

      @@adrianalfordphotography That's what I did. I've bought 2 pieces of D850 and one D500. That's the short moment when there's hype about Z8- Z9 cameras and therefore a good chance to buy D850 with very low shutter counter. I've bought used one with 1724 shots (JPEG check) for just £1300, less than half of it's price. New camera, actually.
