    Who's laughing now rain?

    NO WAY!
I was out for a stroll in the rain the other day with my umbrella, when I wondered if there would be something like a self-defense umbrella in case I get mugged. This is exactly what I was looking for!
It literally translates to "safety umbrella". Very subtle and useful. And it even looks pretty good as well!!
For all Germans, get one as long as it's not banned in Germany - because that is what is going to happen with all self-defense weapons over here sooner or later. Can't even legally carry knives anymore, while crime is on an all time high!

    • @pohjanakka4992
      @pohjanakka4992 Місяць тому

Or Finland... still legal, but the first time somebody uses one of those successfully for self-defense that is probably going to change.

I have an old French umbrella with 18 blade in the handle, I don't take it out, first its silk and second, it's 116 years old. I have a 70-year-old hickory hog cane for my beating stick. A hook to the nuts with a stop a fight. Good video, keep up the good work.

One suggestion I thought of almost immediately but didn't hear mentioned in the video: The umbrellas fabric should be cut proof, to make it a more useful shield against a potentially knife wielding opponent.

It looks awesome not just as a defense tool but also as a regular umbrella. The wind often turns regular umbrella inside out or bend the stretchers - but this "kingsman" umbrella seems to hove not only extremely solid main pole but also the stretchers. Cool! And they have version for women with hook too :-)

I just bought a couple of these from Canadian Preparedness and they are great. I got caught in a torrential rain storm yesterday and I can report that it’s also great as an actual umbrella, combat applications aside. As to combat, the sensei at my local dojo has promised to show some techniques in stick fighting that will be good for using with this umbrella, so the possible deployments can go from the basic strikes to some rather exotic moves. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Great review man! One thing I was wondering about, being from the windiest province, is how well it stands up to wind. I don't even bother with umbrellas because most of the time they just end up broken or turned inside out from the wind.

  • @sharodM

Nate...that umbrella is a really good idea....in our Vee Arnis self defense system we have an entire body of techniques devoted solely to the umbrella as a defensive weapon....in different scenarios like standing at a bus stop, on an elevator, or even sitting on a sub way train.....I intend to purchase at least 4 of these umbrellas...three for me and my family....and one for my instructor SenseI at the dojo....thanks a lot....it will make a perfect EDC item

Good review, looks like a great product, for everyday use in winter, and street legal. Saw another great product today: 24"x51" ballistic shield with viewport. 3a. United shields international. Less than 2000$! Stops all handgun rounds. Slows down all high powered rifle rds enough to make em bounce off your flak jacket with minimal impact. Great to stand behind while scanning your environment for snipers. Every prepper needs one!

Nice! Top grade demonstration! Definitely a demo that clearly shows the rock solid durability of this affordable and rugged umbrella. A very practical choice. I will be doing a UA-cam video in the near future providing instruction in the William Ewart Fairbairn Method of using an umbrella as a self-defense weapon. The method I will show is systematic and comes for his "Hands Off" manual for women's self-defense and from his "All in Fighting" and "Get-tough" manuals developed for the British S.O.E. the U.S. OSS and elite commando units of the British-Canadian and American armed forces and more. I will definitely include a link to this video.

Not sure if you're familiar with the book "100 deadly skills" but in it, skill #28 is how to turn an umbrella into an improvised blunt weapon. This particular umbrella would be perfect for that but the skill itself is applicable to a number of different items you could use for an improvised weapon. That's a good skill to have.....

not so heavy that it cant be used for general purpose hiking, about double the weight but still worthwhile. Sun protection etc. wish they make them with reflective fabric for a 2 degree cooler impact when in the sun a longtime. Umbrellas are often better than a rain jacket if you have to choose one or the other

They also have a model with a hook handle. If you know how to use that, it makes it even more effective. You can trip the opponent, hook his arms and legs, etc. Plus, as William S. Burroughs once said, it doesn't end up falling on the ground every time you tuck it under your arm.

  • @4tonmike

Not sure where I've read it, but I think I recall that a spearlike jab, or "muzzle thump" as done with a rifle would be called, is a good value strike. Something about the immediate, pinpoint pressure more causes the most immediate reflex response and pain. Effective, efficient, instinctive, and requires little training for combat utility.
Is it short enough to orient from within a car cabin? I imagine with what I assume as a layman to be the most common attacks being muggings and carjackings, that being able to orient and manuever a poking stick around obstacles like structural car pillars, display shelves, counters, and through doorways would be an important training consideration.

Just because you can carry a firearm doesn't mean you can use it whenever you like. If someone punches you once and you shoot them dead, you are going to jail for murder. The law says you didn't use proportional force and are a criminal.
This umbrella is great to protect from the rain, the sun, and the occasional jerk that just needs a quick whacking to be set straight. No death and no jail the good person ("you")

You need some lessons on cane fighting Sir, your words are not valid at all. But the concept of hiding a weapon in an umbrella is kosher. I use a cane myself for self defense and I have done a lot to learn from others to develop a style to make it work. I have taken elements from fencing, stickfighting and baton fighting, also grappling. Your idea about not collapsing the umbrella before you fight is way off, the enemy would grab the cloth and control the umbrella, it would also serve as a really big target everyone have to notice coming their way. In fact there should be a quick release to remove the cloth so its not in the way. You also seem to think that hitting with the handle and swing at the enemy is the right way and its not. Of course you can, but swinging is what you do to finish the enemy, you will start with stabs and blocks holding the grip handle. When you have trained enough you will combine every part of the umbrella but what you show is not the way to go. Well the horizontal strike/stabs is the way to go until its time to finish the party. I am however impressed by the quality, but I would not mind a model with a hook instead of that grip, both will do fine, but a hook have its uses for sure (my cane have a hook). You also speak about rain a lot, look to every hot country in the world and you will see people carry umbrellas for shade. Sun or rain is not a problem. To learn more just search for cane fighting on youtube, there are many fighting styles that address this subject, some good some bad.

Also, you can spray the umbrella with "Flexseal" and that will protect it and ruberize it so you can grab it. I recommend you try it on a regular one first.
