A lot of the medieval enthusiasts use greatcoats as Brigantines (thick padded coats). The coarse, strong cloth is thick, hot, and more protective than hardened leather. If it has a nice collar or hood it'll give good neck protection. It's lighter than maille, cheaper, blends in better, and can be made into a coat of (internal) plates put bits of steel or cutting board in the liner, and make the sleeves and cuffs come down to your knuckles.
@@thesayxx Yes, it's possible for an attack to hit a major artery in the arms, but I'd say it was much less likely than getting slashed on the outer arms. An armpit hit is possible, if the attacker knew his stuff. Ideally you'd have full arms, too. Trouble is you might end up getting fed up with the weight and trouble and not bother wearing it. The T shirt is a good compromise, as you say. Pity the neck is not covered. Maybe a kevlar scarf could be worn, if such a thing exists.

''I honestly believe we are on the brink of civil war here in the UK'' With what, we've been disarmed gradually since the early 1900's to the point that vitually everyone has effectively been disarmed.
If it came to civil war, it would probably be a real short civil war. But the loss of capability would be tremendous. Huge disruptions in the military and state ability to function.
If you live here and you think we're on the verge of civil war, you really need to get a sense of proportion. Compare what's going on now to the Brixton riots, the Poll Tax riots, or the Troubles in NI. The latter was the closest things we've had to genuine civil conflict and it was still absolutely nowhere near being a civil war. Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia; those are civil wars, and frankly it's offensive to the poor bastards who caught up in those conflicts to pretend our trivial problems are remotely like theirs.

Pretty good advice. B4 finding Christ & joining the Orthodox Church, I wasn't always the best guy. Been in & survived several fights with blades & other weapons. My 1st advice would be learn to wrestle. The majority of such encounters will go to whom ever is the better grappler. The multiple layers of cloth do work well against cuts & blunt impact. One can wrap a jacket around their arm in a pinch for example. Thrusts however will require a hard armour which is where something like that cutting board would come in but imo it's best just to train ones self to move & avoid thrusts b/c wearing hard armour all the time isn't realistic. Besides even IF one is armed with their own blade the chances of being injured are still very high. I have scars from minor slashes, cuts, pokes etc all over my hands, arms & legs b/c of this. However b/c I know how to move to keep my vitals protected none of my injuries were more than superficial. God bless.

It's pretty much it with a bmx helmet and safety glasses. As a hockey player... Protection is key and can be weaponized as I've seen 👀 stay safe in these trouble times of ours.
Those equestrian protective vests are great
Chain mail is pretty great. Once you get used to the added weight, it can be worn under a coat, and will protect against most knives.
Its also sort of cheap. You just have to be careful and buy the right kind (and about 5 minutes of googling will tell you that.)
@@ZergleJerk Yes 👍 I suppose the minimum you'd need would be a vest, just to cover the torso. The arms and hands are not immediately life threatening if slashed.
@@jeffreybarton1297 oh yes they are. You have arteries in those arms, those things leak blood like a hose if cut, also armpits are really really vital, I'd say a T-shirt size mail at least
Motorcycle riding gear with armor and kevlar lined. They make hoodies, pants, vests etc.

''I honestly believe we are on the brink of civil war here in the UK'' With what, we've been disarmed gradually since the early 1900's to the point that vitually everyone has effectively been disarmed.
Better to have it and not need it, as the saying goes...
@@williamcurley worse is yet to come. The Irish are certainly well rehearsed in civil disorder. The UK is transitioning in to civil disobedience due to the unrelenting pressure.

If I were in the UK, I’d warm 2 of those plastic cutting boards in my oven until they became flexible, then form them to my front and back. Trim to fit with jigsaw. Drill and lace thru the sides= custom fit armor.

A distance defense is key to stay off blade knife attacks. There lots videos how bolts on rope make a distance defensive use
Genius idea with the cutting board; I would suggest improving it further by gently heating the board to mould it somewhat to your body shape.
keep in mind there are very few police in the uk that are trained to or have guns most have tasers and batons. the same stuff that would work on cameras also works on face shields, oil mixed with paint and sand does great. also did anyone else know that the standard sized marble is roughly the same size as a paint ball
That's GOOD to know! Never thought about shooting marbles

Just as a point of interest, there are around 500,000 shotgun certificate holders and 160,000 firearms license holders, with roughly 600,000 fire arms and 1.4M shotguns in private ownership in the UK, handguns are very highly restricted. Civil war, unlikely, civil unrest, definitely, but it will be so polite!
IF True, Shotguns Can Use Buck Shot, And Slugs.
@@mikechevreaux7607 In the UK you need a separate permission on your section 1 firearms license, different from the shotgun certificate to purchase slugs, the largest shot size is LG or 000Buck. to be honest, would anyone want to get hit with a skeet round, no thanks
The U.S. has about 400 million Fire arms, and an estimated 40 million of them are AR-15's I actually believe the AR-15 estimate to be low, we can also buy level IV military body armor except for in a few states that have banned it...the ridiculous thing is that the cities and states with the strictist cum laws have the highest rate of crime.

God bless.
