Kewl. A note about removing the Motherboard and CPU power connectors - they are held in place with a latch mechanism. Trying to remove them without pressing on the latch will not be a joyful experience.
When you have 'gutted the carcass", it's a great opportunity to remove dust and gunk from fans, radiators and PSU vents.
Totally something worth mentioning! Will pin this comment!
it is also so hard to get the 16 pin connector out It took me one hour to pull it out lol
With my case its impossible to press the latch
If you see this what about gutting it the. Throwing in a ps4??
That is what is putting me off a PC build lol, But I will still do it, I always get nervous when I got to do the Power button connectors to the motherboard as they is different, It gets me edgy but I will do the Camera method, I am doing an MSI Mag Forge 320 case today, An i5 12600k, Cooler master liquid cooler 240 on a Gigabyte H601i Mini ITX mobo, With a 3060, It is going to tiny tucked away in the top left corner, lol, A mini ITX board in a Mid Tower case, I am actually wondering now will it actually look good, lol, Will find out later....
I think for beginners that don't know where the cable go you can get those small stickers and write down a number and stick on the wire and connectors with the same number and then unplug the cable so when you want to plug it back in its easier to find which cable go where
Huge TIP! Good idea
Yes, absolutely going to try that when I switch cases, thanks
No need ...the guide is very good...just make sure to take pictures at the power button and reset button litle pins or just remember where did you unplugged them from and the rest is easy. I had to go and dawnload the manual online for my motherboard..I thought I f up for like 30 min...didn't know what to do.
I just take pictures
Even if your not new to this, it's still the best practice.
I used this guide today whilst doing my first ever case swap (with added cooler replacement). Really easy to follow the step-by-step instructions and the result was a very satisfying first time boot! Thanks mate, I was really nervous about attempting this.
Yeeeeeewww!!! Best comments to see are these ones. Super glad the video was able to give you some confidence to tackle your first ever case swap!
@@ThermaltakeAustralia bro im 14 and have a prebuilt. i dont like the case so im trying to swap it. you think i could do it at my age?
@Sam Porter it’s my first time too and I also got a rgb cpu cooler with it
@@MustangGuy112we both are in the same situation😂 tho did you end up buying the case?
@@savanabit nah I sold the PC a long time ago and just built a new one from the ground up.
This is great. My new case arrives tomorrow night, and I was worried about messing something up or having it take too long, but this is a very clear and helpful guide that's given me enough confidence to swap my cases with relative ease.
thanks brotha, bought a prebuilt around 5yrs ago just recently problems started happening. Went out and bought everything and watched this step by step swapped everything out and into the new case within a hour, cheers mate good vid
Thank you mate! This was much easier than the daunting task i pictured in my head, mainly thanks to your tutorial. Awesome vid
i did it!!! swapped my pc case for the first time after watching this and it went lovely!! :D amazing job on the tutorial !!!
Awesome walkthrough! I was 90% sure of how to go about this, but having a lovely Australian voice to check my work was immensely helpful and reassuring.
Got a Corsair 4000D case coming soon as I'm ready to upgrade from my prebuilt rig. Just watched every minute and will be coming back to this when I switch. Great video!
this absolutely saved my life! i've been holding onto a brand new case for months because i was too scared to attempt changing cases but thanks to this vid, i got it done in no time! (we won't address countless rewatching for "just in case" purposes) Thanks for this!
Just finished swapping cases, this was a great video to have running on my tablet to keep me on track though the process, thanks mate!
You are very welcome! So glad we could help :)
Thank you so much for the guide! Was my first time swapping cases, it took me a little while but this guide helped get me through it.
Thanks a lot man ! I just did my first ever case swap today, I was very anxious before doing it and your video helped immensely!
I don’t really comment on videos but this video made the whole process extremely straight forward. If you’re nervous to start, trust me in saying follow this video and you’re golden.
Thank you for the quality video!
Glad to hear, Andrés! Thanks for the lovely comment!
Thanks to this video I was able to complete my case swap relatively easily. I had a Predator desktop from 7 years ago but upgraded with a new board, Ryzen 5 5600, AMD Radeon and 500gb m.2 ssd. In the old case idle temp was high 50s c but with the new case idle temps in the 30s c range 😁😁😁
Glad we were able to help you out! Hope you love your new system!
Big help...1st time changing my case and my pc still works.
Thank you.
This video is absolutely incredible. I've never been super great with working on computers, and I wanted to upgrade somethings. New case, new gpu and a new PSU. I only followed this one video and everything is working flawlessly after a few hours of work (and plugging my sata back in after it unplugged itself doing the stuff everything in and hope for the best cable management method lol). Definitely getting a subscribe and a thumbs up, thank you for your help
Nice guide, watched it twice and then changed my case smoothly
This video was a massive help, thank you!
Welp... I tried this guide step by step and I couldn't be more happier!!!! Everything went smoothly and now my pc looks and I bet will keep way cooler since my previous case had 3 fans, now I have 6! Thank you so much for your video you def earned my sub!!!
very good video! This was my first PC case swap and this video helped me tremendously!
Such a well-made and clear guide. Got through the process and it was much easier than I expected. Thanks so much!
This video was an absolute godsend, thank you so much. Upgraded my case as well as CPU cooler and fans, would've been totally lost without this guide!
Yooo! So glad to hear this Matt! That's the best sort of compliment we can receive!
bro how did u remove the 24 pin connector. it feels like the connector socket is going to come off when i try to remove the cable
Fallowed this man the whole way. Started up the first time. Done. Game on
Just swapped my case from a pre built that I’ve now fully upgraded to new parts except the motherboard and your video was absolutely perfect! Thanks man.
Only problem I had was forgetting to connect one of the power cables for the MOBO after slapping it all together 😅
Yeewwwww!! This video was made for people in your position and it's freaking awesome hearing your positive experience! Thanks for the comment , means the world ❤️
Thank you, I have learned a lot about computers now, but haven't been comfortable doing this before, now I am looking forward to using this video as a guide for when I do hopefully soon!
Update: I did it sucessfully!!
@@dan_iel3181 YAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!! Good on you!
@@ThermaltakeAustralia Thank you!! It means alot :D
Note: After you turn off your PSU switch, press your pc's power button a few times and hold it for a couple seconds. This will get rid of any power left.
Actually i think you are trying to Kill Me
i thought it was hard to do when i searched and checking all the videos finally got the perfect video :)
Thank you for this guide! I’ve successfully swapped cases today and this helped a lot, thanks!
You're welcome!
trying this out myself today! very helpful tutorial, good job op! (not that i've tried yet, wish me luck on that part haha)
Wonderful refresher! Ty mate!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks bro I really needed this
I wanted to turn my pc into a sleeper build and your tutorial really help, thanks!!
Bro I can’t even get my glass off to start
😂
😭
Great video. About to do my case swap tomorrow
Thank you soooo damn much for this video. It helped me get through my first case swap. The only work I’ve done previously is installing a Wi-Fi card. So I’m a total noob 😂I couldn’t have done it without this video.
OMG I was sure that I wouldn't be able to do this on my own. I even thought about hiring someone to swap my pc but I decided to try it first with your video. And u know what? I frcking did it on first try. Everything worked perfectly and my new pc looks amazing. Thank you so so much! You are my hero 💙
I’m planning on switching pc cases, was this easy to build?
@@W-KeyAyzox yeah I had never done anything technological and still managed to do it on my own first try. Just follow his steps ^^
@@Aliceys thanks I appreciate the help🙏
Awesome Video Menz rhabk you so much!
Thank you so much. I had you on the TV whilst swapping cases.
Now that is such a 5Brain move! Great stuff!
Amazing video, it helped me a bunch when changing my case
Great to hear Charlie! Glad we could help!
This video was great for the case swap I did last weekend. I've had a Acer predator desktop for a number of years and recently purchased a new board, Ryzen 5 5600 CPU, GPU and power supply but these went into the old case. Doing this case swap and putting all the components in the new case resulted in a drop of idling temp by 20c 😁😁😁
The bad thing about doing your 1st PC build and it going OK - you start thinking about doing another one, 🤣🤣🤣
thank you so much for this tutorial! I have a new case coming in today and as someone who's never build a pc before I'm quite scared to swap cases hahaha but this vid has given me confidence and hopefully all goes well. thanks again!
How did it go then
How did it go?
How did it go?
We too want to check in! How'd everything go? :)
@@ThermaltakeAustralia I don’t think it went well if they aren’t responding lol
the video is 2 years ago so i dont think u will read this but ur videos are awesome ur vibe is so chill and everything is super understandble thank u for doing this videos
i’ve never changed cases and mine came in today and i’m scared to do it but this vid makes it looks so easy so hopefully it is!
You've got this!
Thanks for the installing fans walkthrough in building the pc back together much appreciated really went into so much detail. "Sarcasm"
So helpful! Thank you!
Thanks, Nana helping grandson swap his PC working on part 2: cable plug ins and cable management. Scared 😳 thanks for explaining it will help.
You're welcome! Best of luck to you two, you can do it!
Dope video thank you! and don't know if you're familiar but you had two Sarah Kang songs in the background which is a favorite artist of mine. Really chill and helpful video!
Thank you sir, great tutorial
Hey, youre an lifesaver! I swap cases for the first time and this video was an HUGE help! Im not fully finished yet👌
I got a corsair hx 1200 i think it is fully modular and got a ton of cables with it😵

Thanks man. Did a swap all by myself thanks to you. Everything works like a charm
These are the comments we LOVE reading! great work!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I had to install a new AIO and move into a new case. Like you said I forgot to put in the shield, but all is well
Thank you sir; it's giving me more confidense to dry and swap out my old Cooler Master Case
Had to order a new case to fit my 4090, and was worried. This helped a lot, thank you!
Glad we could help!
thanks, was able to successfully transfer to new cabinet Corsair 4000D Airflow following your guide.
This is soo much work bro I just want to swap cases then a few months later I will seitch motherboard and everything anyways
This 18m vid took me 12hrs😢
Great and informative thank you!
For anyone who is having trouble, use tape with numbers to match where each cord slot is located.
Thank you so much! My pc looks like new now!
Great to hear!
Very well done tutorial! I've got a new case to put my current pc (his name is Turtle) into. Later, Turtle will be upgraded in other ways. His brother Simmy (sim racing pc) is still waiting on parts before assembly :D
This is the most accurate tutorial I ever watched! Thanks!!!!!
Our pleasure! Glad we could help!
@@ThermaltakeAustralia Thank you so much! Although I’m from Europe, this is still so good, please. This is the best tutorial ever. And it gave me inspiration to start my own tech business. Thank you.
Can you do video on things you need to know before a case swap
Jono, you triggered me with that "cable management" talk haha
Haha, just being honest!
Thank you!
Thank you bro
Thank you this was my first time this is like building Lego blocks this took me about 2hours to do my pc looks great now
Great video! I'll be transplanting the guts of my current rig into a Versa H24 case in the next few days and this guide is a bit of a confidence boost. A question about "built-in" stand-offs (the domes or little bridge bits with threaded holes that are pressed out of the metal in the CPU tray) for the motherboard inside some pc cases: On a few forums I've
had people telling me "put electrical tape on those stand-offs or it'll short out" or "don't use them, they'll short out your motherboard". Am I correct in thinking that these guys are being a little paranoid? I mean why would the case manufactures build "built-in" stand-offs if they were going to be a short hazard for the motherboard?
Hey Nathan! Jono here - That's awesome mate! Excited for you to do your first case swap, I hope everything goes smoothly for you, just take your time and you'll nail it!
In regards to your question about included stand-offs: I've been building computers for 15 years now and if a case has come with stand-offs, I've used them. I've never had a motherboard short out due to standoffs not having electrical tape on them, although that's the first time I've heard anyone mention that haha.
I will say, the PC Building community does have its fair share of "extra-paranoid and overly cautious" builders out there - Heck.. I've even worked with some haha. PC Hardware is nowhere near as fragile as some make it out to be. You will be fine with using the included standoffs. JUST MAKE SURE that you don't drop a screw or m.2 stand off behind the motherboard and then screw the motherboard down and start the PC, as that's something that could short the PC.
Hope that helps out!
the best 👍thnks man p .
Thanks for the tutorial, however, do i really need more thermal compound? I don't currently have any, and was wondering if I could jut route the motherboard on installation through the top of the case as there is a slot for that. I dont want to go trough all the trouble or re applying thermal compound, so this I think is a possible solution.
Great tutorial, im considering buying a new case and more fans because tha case i have has a very poor air flow. What case did you use in these video (tha case that you changed your pc to)?
Thank you very much i swapped my case with this video ❤️
Subscribed 7 seconds in because I laughed for the first time in a while.
Haha! Glad to hear! Appreciate the support!
I'm still terrified about changing the case but I already got it so...guess I don't have much of a choice.
*YOLOOO*
We hope you didn't YOLO too hard and managed to case swap smoothly!
Thank you so much for this thorough guide! Really well-made and easy to follow, and as a result my PC transplant went without a hitch.
Bought a PC for myself on Christmas and now I am going to swap the case in 2 days and attach some new Corsair fans. Hope everything goes as planned hahaha 😀
Did it all go well? Doing the same :)
Did it all go well? Doing this myself :)
We have the exact same motherboard so this is a perfect guide for me
Thank you
looks simple i will try soon
thank you
Thanks, getting a new case in a few days and I wanted to make sure I didn’t break the whole computer.
Thank u this helped me do my first pc case swap into the NZXT H510 elite

@@optie5 lmao, the temps arent as bad as ppl say tho and ive had it for about a month
@@plazma7617 still the glass front panel is giving me anxiety
I love this,
Sadly i don't have the materials to fully swap since my pc has a wifi card on it and the antenna cant be removed without destroying the wiring.
this really helped me, i was going to change and my mind was like: oh wait how do i do? and this like WOW thank-q
Ayy glad to hear! :)
Literally watching this next to my new case because im too afraid of fucking it up lol
Hey just a question, does a cotton cosmetic cleaning pad which is dabbed with alcohol work for the aio part?
Getting a pre built! Stoked but I've heard it's hard to swap cases on it. Haven't built pcs in like a decade and forgot a lot, any extra beginner ideas like things you'd expect me to know but I definitely don't know?
Question : if we just have a standard cpu cooler can we keep it attached
If you don’t have a AIO, do you really need to remove the cpu fan from the mother board and apply the thermal paste to cpu again?
In trying to take my cpu and gpu from my prebuilt into a new case so I have better air flow and looks cooler
Finally someone that actually Turns OFF the PC Power Unit Before removing Anything!! I've watched at least three Case Swap videos and not one switched OFF the PSU! In fact one even switched it ON before removing anything !!! Really! You guys should really check your videos Before uploading!
You did a great job explaining everything and I appreciate the help now im pretty sure im missing cables or something I bought a gaming pc last tax return and it was stupid out dated and I got ripped of so I got me a newer graphics card because the pc said my graphics drivers are outdated and I also got a new case but something is missing I think
Could someone help me please
1:58... But what do I do if I dont have any side panel
Took me 1 hour to swap cases the first time ,the most difficult thing was to connect the powerbutton cause of the small text on the motherboard, the rest pointed itself.maybe i seen to much pcbuilds on youtube...but i was upgrading 2 different pcs earlier.and with this swap i needed another powersupply and a other gpu and ram memory.swapping a wx2100 for a rx590.also had to install windows 10 from 32bit to 64bit and than to windows 11(system not supported) but bypassed that.that took me the longest.
To my new ceres 500 tg snow case i am changing from my old coolermaster elite. Giganyte b660m ds3h 12100f eagle rtx 3060 12 gb corsair rm750. Still working on it. Loved my ceres 500 tg snow
That looks hard asf
I'll watch this again when it's time to change my case
I removed the cables before taking pictures but do you need to take pictures or is it just a time saver
