    Kewl. A note about removing the Motherboard and CPU power connectors - they are held in place with a latch mechanism. Trying to remove them without pressing on the latch will not be a joyful experience.
    When you have 'gutted the carcass", it's a great opportunity to remove dust and gunk from fans, radiators and PSU vents.

      That is what is putting me off a PC build lol, But I will still do it, I always get nervous when I got to do the Power button connectors to the motherboard as they is different, It gets me edgy but I will do the Camera method, I am doing an MSI Mag Forge 320 case today, An i5 12600k, Cooler master liquid cooler 240 on a Gigabyte H601i Mini ITX mobo, With a 3060, It is going to tiny tucked away in the top left corner, lol, A mini ITX board in a Mid Tower case, I am actually wondering now will it actually look good, lol, Will find out later....

    I think for beginners that don't know where the cable go you can get those small stickers and write down a number and stick on the wire and connectors with the same number and then unplug the cable so when you want to plug it back in its easier to find which cable go where

    Great video! I'll be transplanting the guts of my current rig into a Versa H24 case in the next few days and this guide is a bit of a confidence boost. A question about "built-in" stand-offs (the domes or little bridge bits with threaded holes that are pressed out of the metal in the CPU tray) for the motherboard inside some pc cases: On a few forums I've
    had people telling me "put electrical tape on those stand-offs or it'll short out" or "don't use them, they'll short out your motherboard". Am I correct in thinking that these guys are being a little paranoid? I mean why would the case manufactures build "built-in" stand-offs if they were going to be a short hazard for the motherboard?

    • @ThermaltakeAustralia
      @ThermaltakeAustralia  2 роки тому

      Hey Nathan! Jono here - That's awesome mate! Excited for you to do your first case swap, I hope everything goes smoothly for you, just take your time and you'll nail it!
      In regards to your question about included stand-offs: I've been building computers for 15 years now and if a case has come with stand-offs, I've used them. I've never had a motherboard short out due to standoffs not having electrical tape on them, although that's the first time I've heard anyone mention that haha.
      I will say, the PC Building community does have its fair share of "extra-paranoid and overly cautious" builders out there - Heck.. I've even worked with some haha. PC Hardware is nowhere near as fragile as some make it out to be. You will be fine with using the included standoffs. JUST MAKE SURE that you don't drop a screw or m.2 stand off behind the motherboard and then screw the motherboard down and start the PC, as that's something that could short the PC.
      Hope that helps out!

I don't currently have any, and was wondering if I could jut route the motherboard on installation through the top of the case as there is a slot for that. I dont want to go trough all the trouble or re applying thermal compound, so this I think is a possible solution.

    I love this,
    Sadly i don't have the materials to fully swap since my pc has a wifi card on it and the antenna cant be removed without destroying the wiring.

    Hey just a question, does a cotton cosmetic cleaning pad which is dabbed with alcohol work for the aio part?

    Getting a pre built! Stoked but I've heard it's hard to swap cases on it. Haven't built pcs in like a decade and forgot a lot, any extra beginner ideas like things you'd expect me to know but I definitely don't know?

    Question : if we just have a standard cpu cooler can we keep it attached

    If you don’t have a AIO, do you really need to remove the cpu fan from the mother board and apply the thermal paste to cpu again?

    Took me 1 hour to swap cases the first time ,the most difficult thing was to connect the powerbutton cause of the small text on the motherboard, the rest pointed itself.maybe i seen to much pcbuilds on youtube...but i was upgrading 2 different pcs earlier.and with this swap i needed another powersupply and a other gpu and ram memory.swapping a wx2100 for a rx590.also had to install windows 10 from 32bit to 64bit and than to windows 11(system not supported) but bypassed that.that took me the longest.
