I'm a 64 year old grandma and built my own gaming PC a few years ago. Now my 14 year old granddaughter wants to build one. This is so good and detailed - I know she can do it! (Even though we live across the country) I'm sending her a link to your video!
@SharkyPPL lol nothing bad reaally happened to me i just watched a section, and then did it, the power supply part was the hardest, cuz it just made my brain hurt, ALL oF ThEse WIreS gO WherE?? lol
Well sir, as a first time PC builder, I can say I am typing this on my new PC. Your guide IMO was the best out of all the ones I watched. took me roughly 4 hours to build, was nervous as shit the whole way. But with your help i succeed, now to get my hands on a 3060 or 3070 so i can replace my old 1070 i had to put in it for now. I never like videos but today I will be liking yours. Thanks for the help.
I just want to give the biggest thanks to you, because of you - I was able to build my PC and everything ran on the first startup! I wish this video was uploaded years ago when I built my first one (it wouldn't saved me a bunch of time and frustration). If anyone has just bought their parts to build, follow through with this video - hopefully, it'll be the only video you need to enjoy your new PC. Good luck, everyone!
Following this video on my first ever build. Good god it’s quite overwhelming. Got hard stopped because im missing some cables for my cpu cooler 💔 How long did it take you to build yours? I assumed it would take a day or 2 but this is looking like a 3+ day ordeal 🤣
@@Yolobro89 yessirrr! I had many a problems. The cpu cooler was the least of it. My motherboard had bent cpu pins, i got a new one and it was cracked, lost some risers waiting for the new motherboard so i had to order more lol. But yeah it’s been great! I absolutely love it
i’ve watched this video so many times even tho i don’t have any parts to build a pc but it makes me happy to know one day i’ll be watching this video building my first pc:)
This is, by a long shot, the best tutorial I've ever seen on building a modern PC. It was incredibly detailed with great camera work. He actually took his time and explained how to plug the small cables into the front-panel header. His explanations setting up the RGB fans and cabling were better than every other video I've watched so far. AWWWWWSOME job. *Mind Blown*. Thanks a ton.
Easily the best “how to build a PC” video I’ve on UA-cam. Very thorough and well done. So much has changed since the last time I built a PC so I appreciated this so much!
I am a retired Learning Architect. I designed, developed, taught and evaluated courses. Your video course is amazing! I have never seen a course so complete, well made, delivered by a master trainer and effective. Well done! I'm building a computer very similar with a Corsair 7000D case. You have my admiration.
This tutorial just got me through the entire build process and I’m a first time builder with no experience building pcs. Super helpful and detailed, thank you!!!
i agree. this is the best tutorial on earth. useful, well made, dedicated you name it. REALLY REALLY good for starters like me. i learned how to build a PC by watching this video 3 times
Hiya, I posted a comment a little over a week ago. After several hours over two days and a lot of anxiety, I did it! My PC is built and fully functional and I couldn't have done it without this video. Thank you so, so much for this incredibly thorough guide, and for the kind words throughout. I couldn't be happier.

Spent an entire day from 8am to 1am watching this video as I built my new pc. It was extremely helpful! Had to refer to other videos sometimes when I needed specific directions about my own parts I was using but otherwise you walked me through building my first build! It was pretty fun and somtimes annoying but I am happy I did it.
@@enlightenedg3843 So when I had everything set up and plugged into the psu 1am, I tried turning it on and it didn't power on. I was exhausted and didn't want to figure it out then. But the next day I went back to it and I don't even remember why it didn't power up. I just replugged everything in and it turned on. By that night I had it all set up and was doing light gaming/tests to see if everything was running well. So yes! I had it running the next day.
@@enlightenedg3843just make sure you have all the right parts and that everything will work with each other. And this video will be golden. Every pc build process is the same. Just different parts. I’d say if you’ve done the research and watched this video only, you could have everything from unboxed to getting your the startup screen in about 3 hours (based on absolute amateur skill). This is 100% the best video I’ve found. I’m currently at the part about downloading windows media tool onto the usb. But seeing a computer you yourself built is by far one of the best feelings ever. Especially when the first boot up screen loads up.
Built my very first PC with this video as a guide! No issues whatsoever! Best guide on UA-cam. Can we all take a moment to acknowledge the time, effort, and money dedicated to producing this high-quality content?
@@esausanchez473 It's not that bad- just follow guides like this and it goes pretty smoothly. If you're nervous try and find a friend who's done it before to do it with you.
@@esausanchez473 super hard, don't do it unless you fully know what you're doing. A single step will cause irrepairable damage to your system. I recommend buying pre-built PC's which is what I did because I couldn't understand a thing about these tutorials. Yeah you pay a hundred extra bucks but its better than messing up the whole system. Just my opinion though
@@axeltm4349 well that is true ngl but it wont actually mess up your pc sicne most of the port are different and all componenets have protective ICs to pretect them from damaged. And building a PC really not hard or frustrating at all if you enjoy crafting stuffs
Just built my first desktop from scratch following your advice! Seen many other UA-camrs offering invaluable pieces of information, but I found your guide to be the best structured and easy to follow one! A million thanks for your effort and good work!
As an old dude who always wanted to build my own PC, I want to say Thank You. Your effort and time in producing this video was well worth it. The hardware part of it didn't bother me near as much as the software end of it. I need not have worried, you covered it all. I now have a hot new system, built to MY specs (not anyone else's) that blows my 15 year old rickety system away. (I know, low bar, but I've used others newer systems and mine is at least as fast) Your style of presenting, and your calm "can do" attitude is exactly what I needed. Again, THANK YOU. I greatly appreciate your efforts.
47:11 "there is no wrong way of connecting this cable, as it goes both ways, just like my friend Harry" Well that's one way to put it, absolutely legendary guide
Just built my first pc. Can honestly say, it’s not as hard as you may think. The hardest part is research to make sure things fit and are compatible. There were some minor hiccups along the way but ultimately super minor and just first time builder mistakes. If I had to do it again, I could without much use of the internet. It’s straight forward. I will be doing bios and what not tonight as I finished the bios late last night. This video is golden. From the morale boosters to the heads up, very much helped me.
Your video gave me the confidence and knowledge to setup my first PC and it just feels amazing! After doing a ton of research, buying my parts and finally building it, I went from complete hardware noob to feeling like I actually know what I'm working with now. I can't wait to test its limits with 3D modelling and also being able to talk to others about the specs, it's a whole new world opening up! Thank you so much 😍
I recently finished my first ever PC build and I just want to say, this video was an absolute lifesaver. Everything was so well explained and nothing was missed out at all. Really appreciate all the effort you put into this video! Thank you!
I love how you give us so much reassurance. I remember watching this video a year ago building a pc for the first time. Now I’ve built 3 for my friends and then one for myself. I started with a prebuilt from redux for like $2400. Once I started to build myself I saved so much $ and have found a life long hobby. Thank you bro
@@valuriceThanks, it has the Ryzen 7 3700x, zotac rtx 3060, 32gb of corsair vengeance rgb ram, 850 watt corsair psu, nzxt kraken x52 aio, nzxt h510, along with some corsair rgb fans. I would've had the parts sooner, but with the pandemic and the scalped prices, it took this long to finally get everything. Runs like butter though
As a video creator I can FEEL the amount of work that went into this video. And it was CRUCIAL to me getting my first PC build up and running. I had help from a friend when I ran into trouble, but I followed this guide the whole way through. Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
The perfect PC building tutorial doesn’t exist- “You guys are doing great! I’m proud of you!” This man right here made me smile and I thank him for that.
When he said "It's gonna be OK" at the beginning I really needed that. It's terrifying learning all this stuff. You spend hrs doing research, you spend all that money... that's the easy part! Then you're responsible for building it. This video is amazing, exactly what I needed.
Im not even planning on buying or building a PC but decided to watch the whole entire thing because his delivery and presentation is damn good! and I learned a lot, thank you!
Just used this guide to build a beautiful all white pc. I only started gaming a few years ago and don’t know much about Computers. Now that I have my pc I can start making UA-cam videos and streaming. Thanks so much!
I did minimal research when selecting my parts and had zero knowledge on PC building before beginning this journey. I am super happy to say that I am commenting from my newly built PC!!! I am literally so excited and could not have done it without this video! The visuals, explanations, and pacing were perfect for a beginner like myself! Thank you for all the hard work you put into this!
Thanks, my guy! My brother helped me build my 1st pc 4 years ago because I knew nothing about tech. This year, I gifted that PC to our little brother and bought everything I needed to build a new one. Because of you, I was able to do it w/o his help! He was so proud of me, but not as much as I was with myself!
Wow… this is hands down THE best video I have found for a complete beginners guide to building a PC. I have always been interested in building my own PC but was intimidated by the learning curve to figure out what I needed and how to put it all together. The amount of respect I have for how much work went into this, and the visual detail to showcase precisely how to do this right the first time … it just can’t be started enough. Massive shoutout to you and your content as a one man show!!! Keep it coming!
@@LolGaming-kg1zw Entirely lost without someone to explain why and what everything does like this video. Grateful for people out there who speak the 101 language.
Step 1: shop for parts. Step 2: see the current cost of graphics cards. Step 3: cry. Step 4: buy a pre-built and vow to build your own when (if) prices come down.
Thank you! I just built my first PC (upgrading from an ancient laptop) and this guide took me through everything so well. I'm especially thankful that you covered the part AFTER the computer is put together in such a comprehensive way, because that was the part I was really scared of. Putting all the physical components together doesn't seem so hard, but actually installing windows from scratch (side note, thank you for saving me from buying windows full price) and messing with the RAM settings? That was gold. I'm typing this all out from my shiny new gaming build :D
@@Cosmo8_No, at the end of this video it shows him download windows 11 from another computer using a flash drive or used or something like that so basically all you have to buy is taht chip thing to do taht

Your guide has helped me tremendously. Will always recommend this video to any family or friends looking to take a step into the PC world. Thank you so much from a fellow user.
This was so helpful! I'm a brand new builder, and I was able to boot on the first try! Thanks so much, I couldn't have done it without such a detailed guide!
This was AMAZING! I’m a complete computer noob but wanted to build my own. I bought all the parts and they sat for 6 months because I was too nervous to try. I just launched my new personally build PC! Thank you!!
I waited 2 years with all the parts for the same reason and my fears were confirmed. Graphics card was dead and even with a new one I got no display most times. Its been a headache.
Your video saved my build when all others failed! I have watched a zillion PC build videos, but yours went into depth on the one area I was lost on and that was the wiring and power supply connections. Your detailed instruction was incredibly easy to follow and my PC booted up to the Bios on the first try! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I just build my first ever PC, thank you. I know you already have many comment of this type, but still, I hope you know that your video still giving blessing to many people even this time and date. @@piccolopete8747 can you list it for me? I want to start building my own gaming and work pc and I am very confused I dont know where and what to start buying
@@user-qo9bt1sc7t so basically all the parts you need are: 1. Cpu 2. Gpu (optional, you can use a cpu with intergreted graphics to save some money but make sure to check if it has it) 3. Motherboard (make sure it supports your cpu, eg: amd motherboard for amd cpu and vice versa with intel) 4. Power supply (powers all the components in your pc, make sure to read reviews before buying one) 5. Ram 6. Storage 7. Case (outer shell that holds all the parts) 8. Cooler (optional, some cases have built-in fans) I suggest doing research on all the individual parts and look up some tutorials on yt on how to choose parts. Im not experienced in building PCs either but hope this at least helped a little.
I've been watching build guides for the better part of a year...I finally pulled the trigger and my components will be delivered next week. And I gotta say - this is absolutely the best guide I've seen to date. It answers so many questions I was unsure about. Thanks you sooooo much!

Appreciate the in depth video. I used to build computers in the early 2000s, but my life and career choice took me in a different route away from computer fields. 20 years later and my kids want to build a gaming computer and it's nice to get the refresher course and learn about things that weren't a thing when I was doing it (like liquid cooled or m.2 hard drives. Good to know the basics haven't changed since I used to do it. Keep up the good work
I have to say, at first when I saw the 1H duration of the video I was worried that it would have been one of those videos which drag on endlessly, but then I discovered that the information is condensed well enough that it lets me understand the topic without spending excessive time on it. Well done, this guy knows his stuff.
I don't normally comment, but this was a great video. Build my first PC in 12 years and it was a breeze thanks to your video. Had no issues with set-up and everything works perfectly. I watched your video so many time waiting for my parts to come in the mail. It was so informative that I was able to put my PC together with a lot of confidence. Thank you for your work!
I couldn't have built my first PC without this video. I watched it all the way through after purchasing my component but before I started my build. Then I watched it as I actually built it. I did go and watch some other videos from other people when installing my cooler, I watched the installation of my specific cooler. But for everything else your guide was absolutely spot on. My computer turned on and was ready to rock the first time I touched the power button. I cannot say thank you enough. Watching your video gave me the confidence to do something that I would've never considered before. Now I have a monster PC that I can upgrade and customize as years go on. And I have some bragging rights I didn't have before.
I just wanted to say thank you for guiding me while building my first PC!! It took me lots of hours but it was definitely worth it. Can’t wait to get my entire set-up up and running!

Thank you so much for this detailed video! I bought my very first PC and decided to build but I was super anxious about being able to set it up myself. Well between this video and a few others I was able to get it all working! Took some trial and error but anyone out there looking to take the plunge, it’s not hard! Follow the steps and take your time. If you have a specific brand/model part, there is likely a UA-cam video for it. I am by no means technically inclined but I got it done in a few hours. Thanks again!
Dude thank so much for making this video. Finished my build today! @@enlightenedg3843 So when I had everything set up and plugged into the psu 1am, I tried turning it on and it didn't power on. I was exhausted and didn't want to figure it out then. POV: You've never built a PC
POV your to broke to even build a good pc were not all rich
same bro its just satisfying seeing any video of Ed
What's more fun than building a pc, but watching other people building a pc is more enjoyable!
Wut?
It makes me cry
That makes jealous
And the only option most of us poor people have!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
As someone who is recently moved into the tech world, I wanted to build my first pc. Even though the specs may not be the greatest I can always upgrade and that’s what kept me happy. This video helped me out so much and I just wanted to thank you 🙏 ❤

@Jesse McLane you have a cool dad
@Jesse McLane you have a cool dad
@Jesse McLane you better treat him like a king. He sounds like a great person and you never know when you'll lose him. I lost my father at a young age and hate that I wasn't able to build my first pc with him
@@3rbishop482 I kinda lost my dad too XD
except he's not dead uhh he cheated on my mom when I was 3 and I remember the day they broke up oof
Can't even begin to express how many thanks I'd like to give for your wonderful tutorial. I just built my first pc today using your guide and it went exceptionally well, all things considering. Even with different parts, I was still able to utilize your guidance to finally finish my first and long awaited project.
how was it? did you run into any problems?
@@TheReeKing0 Honeslty, not really! When I first turned the power button on, well, it didn't lol. Turns out one of the cables wasn't connected from the motherboard to the psu. But other than that, I had various error codes for very minor issues, but nothing I couldn't look up, such as the ram sticks not completely inserted. I was able to easily install windows and update drivers. As tedious as this was, I am very happy with the outcome. I absolutely love my new, and first, pc!
@@ma5tertonberry oh that's so cool

mine booted up the first try i was so nervous i was going to screw it up .i just kept rewatching this vid to make sure i had it right .i even went old school and used a spatula on the thermo paste(small cake spatula)
Just finished building my first PC alone and was really able to understand not just how to do it, but also troubleshoot a bunch of problems that came up thanks to how thorough and concise this video was. Thank you for sharing the knowledge. Big thumbs up for this video and site.
how long did it take?
@@YouTrup163 it should take you about 2 hours to set everything up if its a first build (depends on how quick u learn)
i know this video is considered old now, but i still remember watching your videos when you had 120k subscribers and im so happy to see how far you have come and that you are still pumping out great and very detailed videos. And by details i mean everything, not just a cutaway to it being done than explaining how they did it wrong. Keep it up, you deserve everything you have.
I am crying!! I am so excited to have successfully built my son's first gaming PC! I never imagined I could do this! Major shout out and thanks to you for creating this video. It is still very relevant in January 2023. My son is very pleased and excited to play on his new PC. So happy I chose to do a custom build. This was a learning experience for me. Keep the videos coming!! Best Wishes, Olympia.
I’m happy for you and your son! Congratulations 🍾🎊🎉🎈
When you already built 2 pc's yourself but you're just looking because Ed's videos function as a form or therapy.
I watched this straight through; acting like this is a movie. 🍿
Wait this wasn't a movie ?

Deadass popped open a bag of chips even though I ain't building a PC anytime soon
Im ngl, this is by far the best PC biulding step-by-step tutorial I have seen on youtube. I am biulding my very first PC very soon and I think, even though some of the parts are outdated, this will most definately be the tutorial I follow along to biulding it!
I watched dozens of first time PC builder videos and this is by far the best one! My first build went without a hitch! I can't thank you enough as I did invest a lot into quality parts. ✌🏽
Thank you guys so much. I just finished my first build last night using this tutorial. This is by far the most in depth guide I could find anywhere. Definitely subscribing.
Hey, can you tell me the tools needed to build a PC? Which kind of screwdriver with what kind of tip
I just finished my first build using this video! How exciting! :)
Everything was very clearly explained - it wasn't as scary as I thought it might be at all! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
Is it easy?
yes @@i-love-feet698
Pretty easy
Still working?
building a pc is extremely easy, from connecting all the components, to connecting all the small cables but just know that you'll probably encounter errors and will have to troubleshoot a couple of times.@@ParthPahwa-cn1cu
Well presented, no fluff, no pontification, just well presented facts. Thank you!
I doubt you read this but I just wanted to say thanks. Just finished building my first PC and this video helped so much. It was a long journey, even took 3 months to get all the parts. But putting it together was a breeze thanks to you. I appreciate it.
Thank you man, followed your guide building my first PC, this video was fantastic and I couldn’t have done it without this

Simple, friendly, and easy to follow. Guided me through my first ever PC build and I will forever be thankful
I don’t know anything about computers but I’m trying to learn so hopefully one day I can build my son (who loves to game), a computer. Thank you ☺️
This is so wholesome!! You're a very sweet parent :D
Exactly what a great mother!🤟🏾💜
He might want to build it himself, and it would be a cool experience
@@jacksontriffon5064 Yeah they should build it together
My motherboard did not come with those cables what do i do now 😭
I just wanted to say thank you for guiding me while building my first PC!! It took me lots of hours but it was definitely worth it. Can’t wait to get my entire set-up up and running!
congrats on your pc build!
From this guide and a couple others I went from having a couple of parts to a functioning pc. Thank you so much, I’ve wanted this for years!
how much did it cost and how long did it take to install everything
This is literally the best and comprehensive tutorial on building a PC I have ever seen, and I have watched many. And it is put together in such an elegant way. Thank you for this great video and your outstanding effort. Cheers
Nice bro!
I know it’s an hour long but Ed deserves all love for his dedication ♥️🤧
Dude thank so much for making this video. Finished my build today!
It took me 3 days but I was sort of jumping around a bit and fiddling with stuff, but your help in this video was absolutely essential to me ever hoping to even build my own PC.
You're awesome! Just wanted to express my gratitude. Take it easy :)
