Just came across this video and while it is three years old, I wanted to give some advice to others who might see this while planning for their own miter saw station. If you put the two side leafs upside down on a flat work bench or floor, and then position then prop the main stand upside down on two wood pieces the exact height of the saw base, you don't have to fight gravity with clamps and extra wood when aligning and attaching the hinges.
I have decided to start a woodworking business from my home and just purchased my first mitre saw. I've been researching stands all day and decided to check YT to see what was out there and crossed your video. LOVE this idea. I don't have a 'shop' and am using my garage for now. So having a place to store the saw on this stand is perfect for what I need. I will be doing this project next for sure!
You have given this beginner some really helpful ideas. As I build mine I will build the back board and two sides higher so as to have a better chance of collecting (or at least containing) more dust. Also, mounting the dust port on the back board just across from the exhaust port will collect (I believe) more dust than mounting it on the bottom. Staining the boards made the project very attractive. Great job!
I absolutely love your videos! I am a 64 yr old grandma that just got into woodworking. You make things so easy even this old gal can make it! Thank you for all your efforts & allow us to see whoopsies too! When I make mistakes I know I learned something! Thank you again! You are appreciated!
It's great that you're getting into something new and learning woodworking. Looking forward to hearing what you make. Thanks for all your sweet comments. Have fun building.
As a new woodworker this project looks easy enough for me to tackle. I started building a workbench yesterday and learned how to use my pocket hole jig. Cutting 8foot 2x4’s was a little hard on the miter saw so I definitely need that stand. I think this will be my next project. Thanks!
Just started building this myself. Miter stands are anywhere from 200-300+ dollars and do the most basic thing. Hold the saw. This idea costs maybe 50 or 60 dollars for everything and gives you storage space and movement. Think I'm really going to love it. Video is super clear and easy to follow. Got a new subscriber. Thank you
Since you made a point of inviting comments, I'd have given the caster pattern a broader stance laterally and made the wings as long as possible. That said, I like your project for its direct approach and quick build. I have mixed emotions about elaborate shop furniture projects. The negative aspect is that it is like making yourself the most elaborate Christmas present of all. That's a thumbs up for you.
I recently and finally purchased me a miter saw and have been surfing the web for some simple tables and found came across this video. I love this idea because I’m going to be working out of a small storage building for now and this is an awesome space saver. Thank ya sir 🫡
Noice!! This is the Miter saw table I've been looking for! Thanks for keeping it simple. I'm new to woodworking and have limited space too. I'm in the process of making tables for my workshop.
I’ve been looking at a lot of mitre saw builds and I like the simplicity and workability of yours. I am just starting to put a wood shop together and looking for ideas. Thank you for sharing.
I am planning to use this design for myself, but instead, will leave out the bottom shelf for sliding in the shop vac, with space in the back. This means the front and rear 2x4 will not be there, just running a flat 2x3 on the bottom sides.
Love the table, but I don't like the loose 2x4's for the wing supports. I would probably have put a support structure on on hinges that swing out to support the wings, and then fold back in. Just my 2 cents, but love it otherwise.
I just bought my first miter saw and thinking of very nearly the same thing although had not thought of the wings. I did some experiments and have decided to make a rear thin sheet wall (1/4" plywood maybe) that slides up for greater sawdust retention, and go with a rectangle opening bin under the rear of the saw, from about half way under the miter table and up to the sheet wall, then incorporate a small vacuum in the table to allow a local hose for clean up. But seeing yours gives me even more ideas. Thanks.
Like the cabinet/cart. Would use 2×4 for legs and 1x3 for the remainders. Think I would use a piano hinge for the drop leaves. Would use a butterfly wing to support the extensions and attach it to the back leg to allow mounted storage. I only use my miter saw outside due to small workshop and DUST. Portable wheel cart beats carrying the saw to an outside location. Thanks for the detailed information and sharing!
Great idea. Going to add a couple of things to it. Making it to where I can interchange the miter saw with my sander, grinding wheel, and a vise. Will store all under the table. Additionally, I am making a stop sled that attaches to the wings for repeated cuts of the same measurement. Adding a plywood box cover for storage when not in use. This is the best idea I have seen to this point for a portable miter saw table.
I had a miter saw for Christmas present from my wife, what a fantastic build👍👍I will be making this very soon I hope, when I get the wood.Once again thankyou
If you pause on 6:08 you can see there is about 5 inches of space. I would extend the wings to the length of the stand frame to give it a clean profile looks when stowed. Thinking this might be my weekend project. Nice job!
You're onto something. Extending those wings all the way to the floor would do 2 important things: streamline the look, and make it more solid. The "legs" or supports for the wings could go to the floor as well. That would address SparkyGT's comment above. I like the added mobility of the wheels, but I'd think it would not be that often that you'd move it, and you could still do that with the wings raised. Just a thought. Great space-saving table idea for a station.
Man that's a great idea! I've been debating building a miter station into my workbench, but I'm just working in my normal 2 car garage, where cars are also parked when I'm not working. I don't think I could sacrifice that space! A folding and mobile miter station though may just do the trick! I'm thinking some kind of a slot to stick those support brackets on the back, because I know my knobby knees would smack that board every time I walked by!
This is an improved version of the portable miter station I was planning. One thing I would change is maybe put a magnet on the side support and just place it vertically along the front of the station. Great design!!!
I think drilling a hanging hole in the prop and hanging it off of a nail, screw or hook on the back edge of the side shelf would work better. Great build!
Thumbs up, Guy, but I'd like to encourage everyone who feasibly can to buy their 2xs ahead of time, stand them separated and on end to quickly air dry them, then joint and saw the stock square. Shop projects will have a longer, happier lifespan that way. I live in Wyoming and more than 40 years ago asked a lumberman what the grade stamp "semi-dry" meant on his 2x4s. He said it meant they were dried on the semi on the way down from Montana.
Man...great job on this project! Now, I hope the owner of the company that I work for will allow us to build this portable table for our miter saw. Everything that you used we have it in our scrap yard. The only thing we just have to buy are the hinges and the Rolling Wheels. Being that we don't have much space in our work area for something big, this is so perfect for our shop!
Can't wait to build this! Maybe you could drill through the 2x4 support bar and hang it vertically on one of the foldable tops. Clear some legroom and keep it out of sight, out of mind!
I really love the colour of the tops so great job. I like too the folding wings although for the supports I would prefer to use some metal brackets support of some sort.
Great video! An alternative to storing the wing supports on the shelf is to recess magnets in the support and side of the wing and store it there. Make sure you have the polarity of the magnets in proper order. Opposites attract. I've watched all your videos and think they are very creative and helpful. Keep on keeping on...
Nice set up for people that are mobile or lack space like myself. Sadly I already installed flooring in 4 rooms and a hallway before seeing your idea. I like the use of 2x4's.
Hi, I am starting to build a workshop in the box room of our house, I suffer from arthritis and my workshop is made of concrete and is so cold it is impossible for me to work in there. Your mitre saw station is perfect for the space that I have. I am going to have a go at building the station. Thanks DUNCAN
Nice work, way to keep everything mobile. I have a steel cabinet with wheels for the center section. I'll adapt your wing design and attach them providing a tremendous amount of support for long boards. Thanks for the information and inspiration. Cheers, Pete
I just upgraded into a Hitachi sliding miter saw C8FSHE and my earlier 12 foot long miter station is no suitable for this. Fortunately, in my first search on youtube, i discovered this video. It just fits into my requirement and within my skill set and tool set to build it. Thanks for sharing this crisp build video. Your voice and narration is great
Loved this video Been pondering how to build a stand for my mitre saw. The wings here are a terrific option for a small space like mine. Will be thinking more about the wing supports and checking out other comments on that. thank you.
Definitely think I'll go with this for the most part but I'm going to make the wings longer and see if I can find folding brackets or something to attach permanently for locking the wings up in place.
GREAT 4 A SMALL SHOP LIKE MINE... GOOD JOB BUDDY....👍HIGH 5 FROM PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷 ...."KEEP WOODING"......!!!! TOMORROW....." HOME DEPOT.... HERE I COME "
I really like the way the stain offsets the top from the frame. Not sure about the way you have the wings held in place, will have to come up with something different but over all a great looking build. I give it a big thumbs up !!
Great video! Wondering if you might share the measurements for cutting the plywood? Am basically a beginner and this would help in my planning as I need to have home depot cut the plywood for me so I can get it home. A full sheet of plywood won't fit in my car! Thanks!

Very good mitre saw table. I might make one like that and store the stand I bought for it for outside use. With the stand it takes up a lot of room especially when I made a roller on castors for it. Too bulky
Nice Video and Setup. How about adding some Velcro to the wing support beam and the back of the two legs on the stand? (Or drill a some hole in each beam and hang them in the same location.) You could store the support beams there when not in use. That would free of some shelf space as well. I’m 6’2 and I’m sure that my legs would find a way to hit those beams sticking out like that.

Love the table! I'm going to build one this weekend, I will make 2 changes to this. 1) I will cut a 2x2 in a 45 degree angle and place it on the back wall, that way it's easier to clean off all the dust. 2) I will bring in the legs equal to the width of the plywood that way I can do a vertical foldable bracket on a hinge that folds our at 45 degrees to hold the wings up. Just my 2 cents. But love the table, so practical!
I think Sparky’s comment bears repeating. Sooner or later you’ll lean on one of those wings or try to cut a long board. The whole thing will dangerously tip over. You could put heavy weights on the bottom shelf or design a leg that supports the wing down to the floor. I also saw a comment about making the wings longer and narrower. I’ll work on that because I want to build this table. Nicely done thanks!
Hey all in all I like the build. My only critiques would be to use stronger hinges for the wings and a better locking system. Also maybe it’s an optical illusion but to the naked eye, at 9:10 the saw plane looks about 1/4-3/8” higher then the wings. With that being said I like the over all design. Great job and keep posting, I get a lot of good ideas from your projects. 👍

There are a bunch of great ideas out there, so thank you very much. I wish you the best in your journey to build your shop.
Yes it's nice and well made just put a cord on the 2x4 bracket so it doesn't go missing
This was perfect for my use. Thanks for your video…. The stain was a great addition. Overall, excellent work.
Hands down genius. I’m building that table for my workshop this weekend. Thank you!
Love the build as it can be done with what I have lying around in my garage. Simple, yet solid. Thanks for the video!
Instead of a middle shelf you could leave the lower cavity open for a shopvac to attach to your downdraft. Love the simplicity of your build.
Thanks Aaron, and good idea.

So refreshing to see that you made it from 2x4s and basic plywood, instead of expensive Baltic birch plywood!
Thanks, I tried to keep it inexpensive for the average at home workshop.

I like it a lot. Simple and practical and strong. Thank you.
What an awesome idea. You can even transport this to a job site.
out of the solutions to hold up the wings I like your simple solution the best
Wonderful option for a smaller shop!
Nice color scheme too

I was kicking around ideas on how I was going to build side extensions for the miter saw table I built and this video solved the problem, Thank you
Absolutely love this chanel. I wish I'd come across this earlier. Brilliant ideas. Thank you so much.
I like it. I have almost that same wheeled miter saw table you built so I may add those wings.
I really like your plan and probably will use your pattern for my station!!
Can't wait to build this!
Maybe you could drill through the 2x4 support bar and hang it vertically on one of the foldable tops. Clear some legroom and keep it out of sight, out of mind!
I like your work and the way you build simple yet functional products
THAT IS GENIUS!!!!
I look forward to building this ASAP!!!
Awesome, I truly hope you enjoy it.
Now I know what I am building next. Great step by step instructions.
Hi from Greece! It came out great it 's small sturdy and handy! Thanks for sharing 👍
It is always Awesome to meet new people from the other side of the world. Thank you for taking the time to watch this project.
I really love the colour of the tops so great job. I like too the folding wings although for the supports I would prefer to use some metal brackets support of some sort.
Love the way you describe the solution.

cheers mate. I like the style of the build. Practical but still looking somewhat sharp
Loved this video Been pondering how to build a stand for my mitre saw. The wings here are a terrific option for a small space like mine. Will be thinking more about the wing supports and checking out other comments on that. thank you.
Love it I think the shelf would be a good place for some HF boxes
Thanks for the great video. My 12-inch DeWalt will arrive in a few days, so it's good to know one more fantastic way to build a table. Stay healthy.
Man that's really nice especially the stain which shows two different colors, really cool !!!👍🏿👌🏿👊🏿
I like the simplicity of the 2x4 legs, I’m trying similar but hanging the legs on the back or side, a dowel or nail with hole on 2x4s
Definitely think I'll go with this for the most part but I'm going to make the wings longer and see if I can find folding brackets or something to attach permanently for locking the wings up in place.
Buy brackets for the wings. Nice design. Looks great.
Thanks, Looking for a simple mobile table for my garage. This should work great!
LOVED the video! So easy to follow. Thank you :)
I'm a beginner, rank amateur... I love your approach and will use R&D (Ripoff and Duplicate) from your vids!! Thank you!!
I hope it benefits your workshop.
Simple and direct. I like it.
Simple and great. Thank you. God bless you.
I’d probably drill a big hole in the support bar and put a screw on the back of the stand to hang them off of. Great video!!
simple design. I like it. going to try to make one.
A very simple build...I may try an duplicate the cart. great ideas
GREAT 4 A SMALL SHOP LIKE MINE... GOOD JOB BUDDY....👍HIGH 5 FROM PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷 ...."KEEP WOODING"......!!!!

Absolutely Brilliant idea, will be constructing one myself as soon as the weather permits, cheers.
Thank you very much
Great video! Wondering if you might share the measurements for cutting the plywood? Am basically a beginner and this would help in my planning as I need to have home depot cut the plywood for me so I can get it home. A full sheet of plywood won't fit in my car! Thanks!
I really appreciate the video brother i just like many others have a small shop i would like to have seen this as a flip top or dual miter saw planer station i also appreciate you using your safety glasses be it breathing or hearing people should realize how important this is even when swinging a hammer one should be wears safety glasses.
Very cool 😎! Sturdy enough for"timbers" if needed!
Kudos 👍!
Great build, as I am looking to build a portable station for my "garage" shop as well. I have seen wings for the sidetables used out of plywood, but I guess I do like the portability of the 2x4 support piece. Nonetheless. great build and thanks for keeping it simple for us beginners.

Great job. Love the stain.
I like this stand and I think I'm going to build one similar. The only thing I think I'll add to it is some tracks on the wings that I can add saw stops to.
That is a great miter station. Thanks for that. I will definitely be building one for my shop.
You had me at light sanding to remove splinters!
I used tweezers today to remove two splinters from my left hand after moving a bunch of untamed lumber into my yard (without gloves). I should have thought of just lightly sanding my left hand 😉
I just want to take a moment and saw, I very much enjoy your videos, very well laid out, and simple instructions. Thank you very much.
That means a lot, thank you for your support
Great build! I'm going to give it a try!
Great job, think I’m deff gonna use ur design. Really like how u walk through the build
Great build
very nice and just plain simple
I too have a space issue in my shop and this design is going to work perfect. Thank you
Very simple and useful. Thanks man
Wow! Absolutely awesome! God bless you sir!
Very nice i like the way you did the wings
This is awesome - so simple compared to some of the others I have seen! NIce work!
Awesome, I love woodworking.
I just bought a miter saw and I like this table best of the ones I have seen as I don't have a lot of space either. Will be trying this
Even that now I own a sliding saw, I still have the same Ryobi Miter saw like yours from about 30 years ago, and still working great. nice work.
very nice & practical table. good idea.
Thanks
