    Tips
    Whenever you cut drywall, try to cut it in a 45 degree angle on all 4 sides, it will make the patch job a lot cleaner and easier.

    I don't understand why they haven't installed a two gang box and installed two three-pole switches for the ceiling lights. Vinny said they've much space in the ceiling so they could have fished through the traveler wires.

  • @dazedconfuzed6
    @dazedconfuzed6 8 років тому +19

    I think the reason they had two lights on two switched on the opposite side of the room is because there is two entrances to the kitchen. Now they have to go to the other side of the kitchen to turn on the lights if they are coming from what looks to be the hallways for bedrooms maybe.

    • @gratefuldude941

    • @WillHeineman
      @WillHeineman 9 років тому +1

      +cgriesemer It's pretty simple. The switch for the counter lighting was simply re-routed to go above the cabinet as they showed. The wire that originally ran from switch to the 1st ceiling light was capped or removed. After the job was done, the switch in the kitchen controls power to the small boxes above and below the cabinets.

      I wouldn't call it crappy given the type of residence this is- tract home or cookie cutter condo. I don't mean it as disrespect but it's certainly not a custom or luxury home and whereas a person living in a $5 million house wouldn't care much if you spent $1000 on top of the line LED fixtures from a designer store, another couple of thousand and brought in a design team, etc, a customer like her likely would want something affordable from Home Depot that gets the job done even if it's not glamorous.

    • @teamhex

  • @antigen4
    @antigen4 7 років тому +9

    really - this is NOT the way to do things! I think the very WORST gaffe was when the handyman cut right THROUGH the structural beam of the cabinet to hide the lighting cable - when it really ought to have been done with a drill (no more than 1/4" bit) through the CENTRE of it. that way very little of the carrying capacity of the structural element would be compromised....

    • @some0ne8
      @some0ne8 7 років тому +3

      Seriously? The dado holding the bottom panel is structure. The rest below it doesn't do anything. Maybe hold the faceframe but that's about it. So unless you hit the faceframe with a hammer a few times, there's no problem.

    • @jwdewdney6757

    Why spend hundreds of dollars on stupid light fixtures and all those unnecessary wiring like a 12-2 AWG. Go on amazon and buy yourself a 16 foot led wiring 5M any kind you want for like under 20$ and install that shit yourself like how i did.
