Follow the Leader will forever be my favorite KoRn album and one of the best albums of all time. I rode my bike up to target to pick it up the day it released that August in ‘98. Garza, I swear we’d be homies if we met lol
I can't believe Nothingface was not on that list. So good. Also Garza.....you gotta spend some time with Adrenaline. Such a great album. Has a vibe.

Gift was a great album but I thought their follow up was really weak
I think the only Sevendust record that sounded numetal was Home
Korn's first two albums are my personal favorites in nu-metal. Some other favorites are Adam Head's "The End", Blood Youth's "Starve", Seo Taiji's "Seo Taiji V", Limp Bizkit's "Three Dolla Bill, Y'all", Slipknot's self titled, and Snot's "Get Some".

Slipknot self titled album was revolutionary, that did it for me when I was in 6th grade. Till this day I believe it's the best nu metal album ever.
Literally the exact same for me lol, it was the summer after 5th and before 6th.
I was in 9th grade when I first saw the "spit it out" video,back in 2000...
I been a fan for 23 years now, iowa and ST stiill clap hard AF till this day 🔥🤟🏽

One of my favorite Nu-Metal albums ever that never got it's flowers is CrazyTown - Darkhorse (2003) The thing that is the coolest about it is that the band wasn't sour at the critical reception of the record because they made the album they wanted to & didn't care what the label/public wanted,they accomplished their goal of the band (travel the world & sell a ton of records) over 5 Million albums worldwide,& made some good money. 🤘🏻

I agree! First time I heard Tool I was young and impressionable and all of the instruments just blended together so well I couldn’t pick them apart and it wasn’t until I was older that I could hear the individual instruments

I saw KORN at the electric factory in philly for the first album. Saw Limp bizkit open up for Deftones at the Troc philly before I ever heard of them too. Tool used to open for these bands back then too. Seen them a couple times as a opening act. Saw Slipknot on the side stage at Ozzfest 98 or 99 shit was crazy seeing them. Sevendust tored heavy back then as well. Went to a Coal chamber show on Halloween at the troc in philly.
I am actually really impressed with how good that list is. It reminded me of so many amazing records I need to go listen to again!
Korns self titled album all the way 🤘
Pretty sure Korn’s Blind was co-written by one or two of the guys from orgy. And I believe it was a partial song that came from Jonathan‘s first band sex art with a couple of the guys from orgy. And now I believe one of the guys from orgy is actually in the band Adema, which used to be fronted by Jonathan Davis his half brother. It’s a weird incestual group.
Korn's first album is not only the creator of the style but also thé best new metal album of all time. I bought it in 1994, it was crazy...i'm not a big fan of new metal but this one is of of the best in metal History for sure.
Ryan Shuck was in Korn before Brian but as Sexart. Then you googled it ha ha. He wrote the Blind riff. Amir did Coal Chamber...I am Amir of the desert.

I thought there was a lot of junk in this genre, but a few standouts for me were Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory, this ultra polished/super tight electronic rock that's like a treat. KoRn's Issues and Untouchables were superior song-writing and arrangements, just elite level contemporary composition. Then maybe Static X's first two for that robotic aesthetic and then Slipknot's first two for the furious riffs.

I like to think of all the bands we never got to hear due to not having cheap interfaces/equipment to record at home like we do these days imagine the bands we definitely missed out on cuz they just couldn't get their music out of a local spot or even recorded in General i bet some were probably better than Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin park, etc and all of them. I guarantee there was a hella good nu metal band that was pure perfection just never made it big and I wish those bands would have had similar resources we do now in the music world.
The first libe band that blew my mind was Lamb of God, during the new American gospel tour with mushroomhead. Mind blown
Super underrated nu-metal album is Untitled by Five Pointe O. I absolutely love that album and still listen to it to this day.

@@etooMee I believe the vocalist and guitarist got married and started a family. Other than that I'm not sure, none of them ever really played in any other bands as far as I'm aware.

I dont knkw if someone already mentioned it but, in regards to the guys from Orgy being connected to some nu metal records, if you listen to the hidden track on Coal Chambers first album youll hear somebody playing around with a cover of a Bauhaus song with what sounds Elijah Blue Allman on vocals. Jay Gordon played bass in Elijahs band Deadsy before singing in Orgy.

Am I the only one that hated vol 3? It was the first album I ever bought after loving the first 2 Slipknot releases and I remember listening to it on the drive home with my dad being so confused and disappointed like wtf is this shit? 20 years later and I still feel the same way. Could never get into anything after Iowa.

Issues should be waaay higher and Life Is Peachy is at LEAST in the top 50. Aside from that the Serenity of Suffering and The Nothing are in the top 50 now as well. Diamond Eyes from Deftones should be up and Steal This Album from SOAD should be in the list. I know you have to diversify the list but top 50 is top 50

Idk why but i have always thought slipknot was a little overrated. No hate. I definitely like a lot of their songs, but i never latched onto them like I did Korn or Deftones. I also think Chevelle's 'Wonder Whats Next' should be somewhere in the top 50.

Sevendusts best album is Home not the two on this list. Life is Peachy is better than Untouchables or Follow the Leader.
To be fair it’s a list published by Loudwire. Their content should be taken with a grain of salt.
Once I outgrew nu metal, I couldn't get back into it. But you're gonna have those couple bands that also outgrew the genre that still stand out today and for me, that's sevendust, fear factory, and deftones. Who the A listers ended up being in nu metal were easily the worst of the genre as far as mainstream success. 7D and FF shoulda been the trailblazers. Because I did have a short phase with it in my teens, I do know what most of these albums are. Also cuz of mtv X lol Remember skrape and NO ONE? 🤣
deftones were never nu metal and fear factory's only nu metal song is a ripoff of a korn song

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is way too good to be considered nu metal. It's more in the 311 tier. It's a shame it was the only record like that in incubus's career. They let the dollar signs water them down so early in their career.
