Not a heavy metal album but One Hot Minute by Red Hot Chilli Peppers changed a lot their musical style. The only complain I have about Saint Anger is why they tried with Nu Metal??? Metallica is heavy not that that style that passed better life

Just gonna say, you should look up the St Anger 2015 rerecording of the whole album by a group of fans using more conventional methods.
It shows that the songwriting itself wasn't bad under the surface and it was a potential banger, it's just unfortunate that the official recording had so much production issues and clumsy musicianship throughout.
Still, St Anger 2015 is worth listening to.

Because there isn't an actual "intelligence" there. These things are Large Language Models (LLM) and they are trained on a certain amount of data and record how often certain words appear alongside other words. It then serves up a word salad that is hopefully something like what you wanted, or it could be total effing garbage, like "Adrian Smith is dead", when he is clearly alive (as far as I know....)
So basically, Bardy's consistent criticism is 'lack of originality', 'inconsistent songwriting' and 'over-reliance'.
That Anthrax album We’ve Come For You All is a banger
I could forgive all the other albums on the list and the many, many errors Bardy came up with, but calling We've Come For You All one of the worst metal albums ever shows me that AI still has a long long way to go before we can worry about it overthrowing humanity
Fun fact, Octagon actually is the most hated Bathory album by both fans and elitists, but it wasn't because of "industrial influences", it was because it was a weird blend of the band's early thrash metal, but with the production and songwriting from Quorthon's solo albums which were a weird grunge/heavy metal hybrid, so the sound of Octagon is bricked and muffled.
It wasn't his grunge/metal hybrid, it was something actually worse! His grunge records are not bad tho

Maiden's Virtual Eleven isn't a bad album. It has the clansman which is a undeniable Maiden classic.

St. Anger very well could've been amazing, I think if they took that year off that Jason suggested, they could've come back stronger with some solos and a better snare lmfao. Like the blueprint is there, and the riffs Hetfield produced for St. Anger were outstanding, as well as his guitar tone.
I get what you mean. It also had massive repetition that would have helped the album if trimmed.
Every time I listen to them play Frantic live, it makes general sense. It's not their best song, but it's cool.
St Anger as bad as it is needed to happen Metallica was in a really rough point in the early 2000s as Luke has made that point in a previous video and in the documentary Making of a Monster

Infestissumam was a really good album, it’s one of their best and has some of their best songs so I’d say that Bardy really has a lot more homework to do

@pauliescott Saying Infestissumam isn't a metal album is completely ignoring the history of metal. It's like saying Scorpions, or Krokus, Motley Crue or even Randy and Jeke era Ozzy aren't metal bands. If anything that album is retro. That album would have been considered a metal masterpiece in the early to mid 80s.

@@tylerhackner9731 Well, it's incredibly stupid still. Strong or true AI (which is capable of complex reasoning and not simply slotting in data threads into a looped system and is actually sentient) doesn't exist and probably won't anytime soon.
The concern should honestly be how much people overestimate current technology's capabilities, resulting in us relying on it for tasks which are simply too complex for it.
Ironically strong/true AI would probably be safer. It certainly would notice the truck in front of a car it's driving and not spew easy to fact check incorrect information.
AI doesn't exist yet, so yep...long way to go.

Used to be a big Ghost fan... idk if I would call it 2nd-best, but I always really liked it. It gets so much hate in comparison.
And yet there's Impera, which I absolutely do not like but gets so much praise for some reason. Sigh.
Two more things about Octagon:
- It was more Thrash than Industrial.
- Bathory had already abandoned Black Metal since the previous three albums before Octagon were Viking Metal, Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods, and also Thrash with Requiem.
It’s also considered his worst album

Virtual XI is a step down from X Factor which is one of my favorites but I still enjoy it. Sadly the Blaze era was just one of those things set up to fail. You don't hire someone with a completely different range than Bruce and not adjust the material to help them out. Especially live with poor Blaze trying to sing Bruce material in the original key.
I actually thought Virtual XI was better but X Factor is still good.
For me, the biggest issue with the Blaze era was how all the songs were overly long and slow. The X-factor is one of those albums that if I have it on, it all just sort of blends together. That all said, there are still some cracking good tracks on the albums, I also really liked the stand-alone song they did for the Best of the Beast, Man on the Edge.

I am a huge fan of Metallica and after the period load and reload I needed a reset like St Anger and I perfectly understood why it happened. And I agree, shoot me again is damn good.

St Anger makes lists because it is poor by previous standards, but I think it was also because it was such a let down for so many fans. The documentary explains why this album doesn't work for the most part, despite having the odd good moment

To be sincere, I think the AI just pulled a bunch of names and mismatched trivia from articles on the bands and arranged it in a safe format. St. Anger is so well-documented that the AI could form a more cohesive review.

St. Anger among Death Magnetic weirded me out at first but i'm fine with both now and i considered "The Unnamed Feeling" and "The Unforgiven III" two of Metallica's best tracks actually, i feel like some melodic parts like the intro of the presidio demo track "Shadows of the Cross" could've been a nice addition for St. Anger though.
As for Octagon technically bardy's right about it being their twelfth as Quorthon mentioned about there being four demo albums that weren't released (Necromicon/Maleficarum, Occulta, Valhalla, Requiem 1989) so yeah bardy is a huge Black Metal nerd XD.
Speaking of unreleased material its their only album to have released outtakes ("Genocide", "Resolution Greed" and allegedly one more titled "Disease With A Purpose" which never came out) which is cool i guess, the lyrics are dumb but i think the tracks are more distinctable than that of 1994's Requiem.
I think Bardy looks like a heavy metal version of Bomb Man from the very first "Mega Man" game. \m/

I’m sorry Supercharger by Machine Head is actually a damn good album, songs like Bulldozer, Blank Generation, Only the names and Crashing around you are excellent MH songs. Like you mentioned, the timing of the release was awful but the tour was a major success with sold out shows on most dates. Yeah I’m a MH fan boy so of course it’s not the best MH album ever but not a bad metal album at all. Cool video and I love the channel! Cheers from Chicago 🍺
