I am a 29 year old attorney(I’ve been practicing since 27), and I cannot tell you how many times I have been mistaken for the secretary or clerk and not the prosecuting attorney. You also can't leave out the men who are struggling and are actively attempting to achieve those things just to better and improve themselves as well because another important thing to remember is that *money isn't everything,* as important as it may be so to y'all black/brown women, please try to do better to appreciate and understand men's constant struggle and desire to strive towards and want the better things in life and just the fact that they're being and are good/great guys in general anyway, that would go a very long way in the end.
Also, while *most* men in gyms are "thirsty", not all of 'em are though. Some of them just keep their nose to the grindstone and continue putting that work in, but also at the same time, we can't help but to look if fine, beautiful women come through looking 🔥 either, it's like appreciating a work of art pretty much lol.
I also think you were asked about your "ethnicity" because you're very pretty. I've heard some variation of "You're pretty, are you mixed with anything?" question a number of times. That's mostly when I'm in the Northern states. When with my Mississippi roots (family) I've been told that I'm "...cute to be so dark." There's a lot of healing and understanding yet to come for us. I think your comments and stories are informative without being judgmental. Keep 'em coming. New subbie here.

Great dating advice! I honestly feel that what one seeks female or male, has a lot to do with up bringing, environment, the company kept, and what is projected! By no means should a lady design herself based on the thoughts of a man or what one thinks a man looks for! Most men I talk to and see opinions of prefer natural looking women in every sense of the word! I feel a lot of black women try to keep up with what the media projects as beauty rather than embracing their own beauty with little to no enhancements! I prefer to date within my race because i feel it is less complicated and feels more natural!! I for me am comfortable in my skin and will be accepted for that! Honestly I’m with you on the wedding thing. I don’t regret it because the pictures are beautiful. But I honestly don’t remember much from that day it all happened so fast. We probably spent $10k for everything including the honeymoon. Looking back I would put more money towards a honeymoon and saved the rest

Thanks for your comments on being asked about race and ethnicity. Your education on this is vital to the culture. And it helps me not feel crazy when it happens to me! My experience is very similar to yours, and it’s annoying to have to prove my Blackness even after I say it.
