I'd love to see you kit bash a thunder warrior from the unification wars along with a techno barbarian too.
Same
That’s a genius idea.
@@kindermord indeed
he NEEDS to do this
Me too
Look how tables have turned...)
I've been dying to see a modern version of the Necron Pariahs. I remember having one metal Pariah that I never painted. They always looked so cool, and I'm sad they've not come back.
I'd use Warlord Games' Cyberman sprue with some Lychguard pieces (as well as some spare Warrior guns for the gauss cylinder).
Currently kit bashing a pariah using a stormcast head and lychguard body, lots of cutting and greenstuff included
Yeh I liked the look of those guys too, it's sad that they got retconned 🙁
If I played guard I would probably have the squat be a commissar or something. Really well done kitbash!
Squats do not have the religious fanaticism required. A technical advisor maybe?
He'd make a good master of ordinance
Thank you!
He’d make a good color Sergeant
Saw squats clicked instantly
I kind of wish that I'd made a 40k themed exercise video instead now 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer
Save it for next year April 1st 😉
Awesome. Over the Easter holidays I've made sweet tooth the clown out of a golaith model, and his ice cream truck out of a taurox
💕. Where can we find pics?
I would like to see that!
@@tegangarland5024 I'm almost finished with his truck, I'm also making a clown themed necromunda gang. I will try to upload the pics on a website that specialises in hobbyism.
Finally squats. The great dwarves are back in the army of the imperium. Thank you so much.
No problem! Thanks for commenting
He did it. The mad man... He finally did it !
Boy I waited for this for a long time! Did a little kitbash myself with some time ago I was pretty proud of
If GW won't help us, then kitbashing will
Pete: Squats no longer exist.
Me: *looks at squatty marines*
Another awesome conversation video.
Squats need to be bought back into the current 40k setting.
It's nice that they turn up in Necromunda but I'd be happy if they were just another abhuman squad for the Imperium, like Ratling and Ogryns are.
uh.
So about that.
sweet thanks for making a awesome Squat.
No problem, thanks for commenting!
That's amazingly good, it looks better that the old models. I'd really like to see you do cherubael next
A Daemonhost would be a pretty cool thing to tackle!
I love it. I am WH Fantasy guy myself and not WH40k guy, but kitbashing is one of my favourite parts of the hobby and I am suprised that so many Miniature gaming chanels are just focused on painting and rarely on a creative process of converting a model.
Great job...I think you've really captured that vintage look
Thank you, I'm glad you think so :D
I still have a few of those plastic multi part Squats from the early days, and a few trikes. Loved Squats
I got some pretty good results taking some Kharadon Overlords Arkanaut Company minis, replaced their pistol hands with Space Marine ones holding bolters and replaced their heads with space wolves ones with a few extra adjustments like cutting off the harpoon in the launcher and replacing it with a melta barrel.
The biggest PITA I've found with trying to kitbash Squats is just finding dwarf heads.
My mind immediately went to Deep Rock Galactic, but this is great too! Your creativity is definetly something to behold.
Haha, I can definitely see why you'd get DRG vibes
Nice video
What a great kit bash! You really nailed the esthetic of the classic Squat.
Glorious! They have returned!
THE SQUAAAATSSS ARE BAAAAAAAAACK
Awesome model, and love seeing wargames Atlantic models being used
They're an amazing source for kitbashing
Another awesome conversion. Thanks Pete
Thank you very much!
He came out really nice and the choice of colours you used worked so well
This video seems eerily prophetic right now x'D
This has a lot more charm to it than the proper leagues of Vota, for sure taking this route if I ever do a kill team
This looks great. I made a squad of squats for my space wolves. I used a kit of dwarven thunderers from Warhammer and it didnt turn out too bad but there was a lot of greenstuff used.
That's a good idea, I think a lot of the older style dwarf armies would make for good Squat Veteran units.
@@PeteTheWargamer I'll have to check them out. I pestered my sales rep from GW to dig in the warehouses and send me a Squats set. ^_^
Would love to see an armagedon ork hunters kit bash
That chunky boi looks rly cool, good job!
Thank you!
I was looking at the parts whilst you were building thinking "those arms are gonna look too long" then as soon as I saw the whole thing together and painted it all came together!
Another amazing kitbash sir and I may have to grab some Kharadron and the Einherjar for some Necromunda Squats
When I was building them I thought the same, but GW dwarfs tend to have disproportionately longer arms for their height so I think we're just used to that look.
Oh and as for something I'd love to see you kitbash, I'd love to see you do something big and scary like a tyranid Dimachaeron.
King of warhammer kitbash *👑
They're BACK!
Awesome kitbashing as always 😊
Thank you!
Aw, he's a perfect fusion of oldschool Squat aesthetics and more modern posing/"feel"... I love the little guy even with his wonky stance!
If you really want to tackle another extinct and buried concept for your next conversion may I tentatively suggest a Fimir? There's a lot of range and creative potential for you there, plus a lot more opportunity to show off your sculpting and part-fitting chops. :)
Currently making an IG list entirely of dwarves using that einherjar kit along with some etsy pieces and some stuff from Mantics Forge Father line. It's themed after Deep Rock Galactic
Great work, love the paint scheme
You've made me miss the squats even more now!!! Great video!!
Sorry!
Realyy great conversion, love it, Bravo!
Great work. If did not know it was a kit bash, I would say it is a legit figure.
I appreciate you branching out into greenstuff. Some tips though -
1) the join in greenstuff is fine to use. I've used 10 year old green stuff with no issues. If you're really concerned about it, I would suggest using epoxy putty or milliput as they both come already separated and are generally cheaper than greenstuff
2) don't Vaseline your fingers! It'll remove any adhesive quality from the greenstuff. Water is fine and Vaseline your tools but not the fingers.
3) you don't always need to mould onto the model. Something like the quilted texture could benefit from being rolled flat on baking paper for a consistent thin layer. Alternatively, a texture roll could make the job even easier.
Keep up the good work and learning that new skill. Can't wait to see where you'll go with it.
I bought the necromunda gang squats a couple days ago this is surprisingly a really good kitbash
Love the kit bash. How about the old Catachan Arms as well? I’ve used those to make a Squat Sniper for my Inquisitor Squad.
SQUAAAAAATS!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if they didn't have a full 40k codex, I would love new Squat models to use in Kill Team.
I love this 👌🏻 good job 👍🏻
Real easy kit bash turning Uriel Ventris into a deathwatch captain, just replace the head and right shoulder pad. That’s more upgrade parts, but it looks sharp.
As a Squat myself, i approve. Nice! 👍♥️
I just stumbled across this vid this evening having this afternoon placed my order for Neophyte cultists, Arkanaut Company and Thundrik's Profiteers to do a Wyrmblade kit bash, was worried the Neophyte arms might not work, but looks like they are close enough, v reassuring. Great vid, thanks!
I'd love to see these bad boys as a 3dprint file!
love it, I'll definitely give this a go!
This video was an absolute delight, after all who doesn't love space dwarfs? Could you make a tomb king bone giant, it would be EPIC!!!
After that Necrofex Colossus, I'm leaving those big builds alone for a little while 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer ha ha, I completely get it, no pressure!
I love this! I had that plastic squat kit decades ago. I bought that einherjar kit to try to make some 40k squats, I think I'm going to have to get some sigmar guys now.
Thank you for making this video, your squat looks great!
As a squat collector/player myself I must mention that the recent Necromunda Squats, Kharadron Overlords (and older wh fantasy dwarfs) and the Einherjar have a significant size/scale difference from the original squats. These miniatures are almost twice the size of an original squat (like the difference between a guardsman and a primaris space marine). I have been testing a lot of different GW and other brand kits as half my metal squats were missing arms. So far I have not found any kit that fits them (including Kharadron, old world/fantasy dwarfs and Einherjar), I ended up making mine out of 75% epoxyputty + some segments cut off random 40k bits. Still working on more arms, was hoping someone recasted the original ones by now (for context about 50 of my squats had no arms as previous owners dissolved them when stripping the paint)
This is amazing, I always wanted to make a squat army or at least a squat killteam. Keep up the good work!
Very good kitbash.
That's an amazing conversion!
I've not played Warhammer for several versions now, but I'd love to see you do something with some Catachans. They were always my favorites!
Absolutely awesome
That's an amazing conversion! On the feedback part: You're right that the body looks just a teeny tiny bit off, looks like he's leaning just a bit to the right. Maybe if you had his non-gun arm resting on a rail or console he'd look perfect and his angled pose would make sense. I actually do really like his at-easy pose.
You’ve made me so happy.
are you excited or scared that squats, or "the Leagues of Votann" are official now?
This is fantastic, really makes me want to build some of my own. Perhaps I will try to make some for Stargrave when that's released. I'd love to see more Abhuman stuff in the future.
It would be so cool to see you kitbash a Necron Pariah!! Even if they are not canon anymore...
You have a new subscriber, UA-cam algorithm recommended me some of your videos and I watched then and decided I must subscribe
Awesome stuff! Will consider this video when I'm making a Chaos Squat(s) for My Chaos Android squads!
This was great! Would run a group if 10 as a Guard Vet squad!
That would work really well I think, follows the same kind of logic as Ratling or Ogryn units.
Thanks a lot! Would love to see some Harakoni Warhawks kitbash next time)
I don’t think that they should get their own army, but I think they should instead be treated as an available unit for the imperial guard, like ratlings or ogryn. That would be a great way to bring them back into the setting with some more Lore legitimacy
However fluff wise. Ratling and ogrens never had there own micro empire. The squat did, fully broken away from the empire but still an ally. Like the relationship between eldar and dark eldar. The are seperate armies that can work together. I would love to see them back as an army bit GW wrote them out if rhe game a good while back saying they were wiped out buy nids. They only way i can see them coming back is if the have gone steam punk craftworld and have been floating around in the black for all this time rebulding their nation.
Maybe, but you'd need a reason to take them instead of regular guardsmen.
I don't understand why Ratlings exist but Squats don't lol They seem like a great fit/companion too Ogryns.
Bolter and heavy weapon squad, they would fill the heavy weapon elite for an army. Maybe give them a aura that helps artillery and heavy weapon squads that are close by.
@@ErokLobotomist the design team was embarrassed about how they turned them into a joke, they were biker gang dwarves and it was silly so they got squatted
I'd like to see you do a whole kill team squad of these guys.
Very cool, I've been hearing so much about Squats lately. Too bad GW won't bring them back in any serious capacity.
well.
@@rorytucker9535 My comment aged quite poorly lol
It will be so nice, as we all have a Gotrek mini, creating a Félix one from almost 0
Hardcore Miniatures do "Space Dwarves" with lasguns and bolters that look exactly like an updated version of the old quilted armor Squats, They are pretty pricey though.
Also Mantic Games Forge Fathers.
we need a petition to bring back squats !
I love it!
Njal Stormcaller needs some primaris love.
I'd love to see you do an updated kitbash of a Drukhari Mandrake. I'm just starting that conversion myself, using a Sylvaneth Tree Revenant and Corvus Cabal kitbashes, but I'd love to see your take on it and how you'd do it.
Oh, or a Gork :D
Meanwhile...
GW: "Wait he can't do that! Sue him or something!"
Came here after the reveal!
SQUATS!!!! You da'Man Pete!
Pete. Please show the painting. Love your work.
THere's a guy I follow on Tumblr who uses kitbashed Squats as a counts-as-Adeptus Mechanicus army
Would love to see some kitbashed regiments of renown
Lads remember we are now in the 42nd millennium now
I dare you to Kitbash an old Chaos Raptor, you know the metal models as their Jetpacks look supirior the the Warp Talons Backpack Turbines!
Having played WH40k since it first came out as RT, this Squat brought tears of nostalgia. I'd love you to make a Slaan. They released a small selection of metal 40k ones back when RT was fresh
He he... "Squash the parts". xD
Once again, very nice! :D
ROCK AND STONE!
Yay! Space shrimps!
Don't forget the kit from Wargames Atlantic!
Love it, had just watched the video Adeptus rediculous made on them :3. as for next projects... How about some of the book characters like Ciphus Caine XD
A Sleeveless Commissar? sounds like a fun build 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer Agreed. ^.^
ROCK AND STONE! wait wrong setting
The Overlords are actually known as "Balloon Squats" thank you very much.
😂
I loved the classic Chaos Space Marine Raptors with the talon feet and the arched intakes on the jetpack. Any chance of kitbashing them?
Great video! You can also check out the amazing Forge Father models that are being offered by Mantic Games. They make great stand-ins for 40K Squats!
Could you make a tutorial on how to make a riverbed-type base? I've been meaning to make my own little squad of riverside recon Dark Angels and I want to incorporate that setting into the bases
A proper squat
Cool
Amazing
Awesome bruh live him I think I'll make some fun space dwarves too
