Haven’t watched the whole video, but I DESPISE Disney channel for having the female forgive and get back together with the crappy male. Teddy in GLC is the biggest example.
Another reason to best leave Disney Channel in the past (besides it’s teen stereotypes that is part of what makes it the Nickelodeon (which will always be even worse because the teens in the sitcoms are even more stereotypical with even better-deserved breakups like the end of Seddie (Sam Puckett x Freddie Benson) in iCarly, Demma (Daniel Miller x Emma Alonso) in Every Witch Way and Jeck (Jade West x Beck Oliver) in Victorious) of Disney) would have to be the way it treated it’s child stars from Orlando Brown (That’s So Raven) to Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) to David Henrie & Jake T. Austin & every other teen sitcom cast member.
and Sonny and Chad. I loved them at first but then he sent his stunt double on their dates and he didn't know anything about her and she still took him back??
@@rawrnz718 They only broke up twice and he made a mistake the first time he learned from it plus the second time doesn't really count as a breakup here! I loved them together they had way more chemistry than any of her other boyfriends plus none of her other boyfriends were cute at all here!
yeah that was the only moment in the season where their connection was actually the strongest, ironically. I didn't even want them together and I was tearing up
It's the fact that they played the "we have been friends for forever, how do we now let each other go, even tho we need to, and find our way back to that friendship?" part to a t. They are amazing actors, and this scene, if nothing else, was the proof
One I think actually belongs here is Alex and Mason during the wizard of the year award because he was being petty and didn't believe her and just generally childish with how jealous he was as though it wasn't even about loving or wanting to be with Alex but just despising Chase and it was so refreshing for 2 good looking boys to look to the main character asking her to pick one of them and for her to say 'neither'
To me, that was alex's fault, her saying "it's official" bugged me, he had a right to be mad and I hate chase too ALSO it made me even more mad at alex when she said "I would've believed you mason" like did she forget about the Juliet thing? Also he's a werewolf, a dog, that's how dogs act when they haven't saw that person they loved in YEARS.
@@Kloyster2010 She was being sarcastic when she said "it's official" and since Mason was not actually present at the time he had to choose between believing Alex or not believing Alex and he chose not to believe her. As for the situation with Mason and Juliet: Alex was there. Present. She heard what he said and then in the end she DOES go with him because he begged her to because she did understand that maybe that's true. So.. your point of her having done the same thing is null as she didn't do the same thing and it was an entirely different situation to begin with. One was the partner being present and the other is the partner not being present.
@@Kikiricki11 Mason said that by accident BECAUSE that's how dogs act when they haven't seen their owner in years or even hours. Plus, she said that she would've believed Mason if that happened yet she wouldn't and would do the same thing Mason did.
@@eyesfullofstars13 plenty do. They love them so much they’ll give them another chance. It’s undeserved, but ppl can be too forgiving when they’re in love
@@MiauBitch111 broooo samee Marichat is the sweetest ship in miraculous hands downnnn It's the one ship where both of them can just be comfortable with one another unlike Ladrien where they only show their perfect self. Adrienette is cute but Marinette's obsessions can get creepy and LadyNoir is more partnership and just best friend energy (though these past few episodes Ladybug been a lil bit of a biatch to mah boi Chat Noir).
Rucas was really boring like every other predictable Disney ship.. Lucaya's relationship felt kind of mature in a way.. and whenever they talked we could feel the tension in the air, that's what I loved about them! There is also involvement of the actors in this. I remember Peyton and Rowan mentioned many times how awkward they were while filming those scenes ( which is understandable) and it showed. But the writers made the awkwardness look like their 'thing' which just didn't work out.. While on the other hand Riarkle was so much better.. but unfortunately they didn't get many scenes.. but we could see they were so much more comfortable.
@@yikesgina I feel like Maya didn't either.. she mentioned in the Texas episode how she gets nervous around him and in order to hide her feelings, she goes "Hahuuur" followed by all the teasing
The fact that Spencer said "is there anything I can do to change your mind" really shows that he hadn't changed and that he was trying to push her to say yes he was kinda trying to control her and kinda trying to guilt trip her with the "I'm still in love you". That shows that he was still a toxic person. He had already cheated and that is just red flags and toxicity on top of the fact he cheated
i was kinda mad rini got back together at the end of s1 because i felt they had matured enough after their first breakup to the point where they didn’t need to be together to be happy and when they broke up again i was literally so happy 😭
i think it would’ve stayed that way if they had a “proper” breakup but they had no closure the first time instead. nini literally breaks up with him while in a relationship with someone else because they weren’t on the same page if they were initially on a break or broken up. and honestly that should’ve been the first sign of their terrible communication.
Yes, when they ended the previous episode and hinted at the breakup I was smiling and I screamed at their fight in slices, but I cried like a baby once he stepped foot in that tree house.
I was rooting for Miley and Jake as a kid because I truly felt like he had the power to change. Plus, they made a big deal about him coming back for the Jake-Miley-Jesse love triangle and it kind of irritated me when they broke up for the final time in season 4, especially when Disney did that whole "He Could Be the One" stuff. Watching clips of the show now, though, I do find it strange that Jake liked Miley because she didn't care for him being a celebrity, yet he made no effort to try fit in and be a regular guy. He liked that special treatment he got at school, didn't he?!?!
Tbh, it’s totally okay if someone doesn’t want to be friends with their ex (just don’t be a jerk about it). Teddy and Spencer wanted different things that just wouldn’t worked out in that break up.
The funny thing about Rini to me is that there’s a group chat on tumblr full of Rina fans and we literally broke down during s1 exactly why Rini was a doomed ship-we talked about the characters’ needs and motives and psychology and analyzed their dialogue and whatnot. And we saw the Rini breakup coming for ages and ages. It wasn’t just from a “we want our ship to sail” perspective, but a “here is a detailed breakdown of why Rini is fundamentally unhealthy and won’t last.” And it’s surprising to me that lots of people are still surprised that Rini sank when to me and to a good chunk of other people, the writing was on the wall from the beginning. Yes, this comment is partially me tooting my own horn. It feels good to predict something correctly. But mostly I made this comment to say that there are people in the fandom who were not surprised about Rini’s trajectory at all.
@@chinonsookpara2224 I think that one argument was about a lot more though. They never even fully addressed their original break-up. There wasn't a whole lot of communication between either of them.
Ricky and Nini’s needs are fundamentally opposed. Ricky has a broken family and desires stability and has abandonment issues stemming from his mother, while Nini desires change and independence and seeking new horizons. I will say that I don’t like how the show paints everything like it’s Ricky’s fault when he’s the one with literal trauma from his parents’ divorce and he’s clearly going through a ton emotionally and mentally and struggling with mental health issues, meanwhile Nini is getting everything handed to her (she basically writes songs and then either Kourtney calls the Dean of YAC to get her into the school or her moms pay for the expensive school and don’t question her leaving it or Carlos records her song without her permission and makes her go viral or Gina hands her the number of a music producer-where is Nini’s agency? why isn’t she the one to stick her neck out there and receive success by her own actions?) and doesn’t have much conflict in her personal life that isn’t a result of her choosing to not communicate with Ricky. Also, Nini telling Ricky that the Rose Song wasn’t about him and their relationship when multiple characters asked him if he was okay bc the song was so clearly about him and when Nini (the Rose) said it was from the Rose’s perspective talking about the Beast (Ricky) and the song had nothing to do with the actual themes of BATB…..that’s straight up gaslighting. No I’m not kidding. Instead of being honest with him she tried to convince him that *he* was being out of line, crazy, reading into things, being unsupportive when he was so clearly trying to be supportive while struggling with doubts and insecurities…..Rini is a wildly unhealthy ship and I’m so glad they broke up. Edit: Yes, Ricky is clingy. But we know *why* he’s clingy. It’s because he’s terrified of being like his parents. He wants to give his all and do everything he can to salvage his relationship with Nini, to the point of being far too clingy and not saying when he’s upset or has an issue with an aspect of their relationship until he’s at his breaking point. He goes so far as to blame himself for Nini not telling him she’s moving to another state when she knows, well and truly knows, that he has abandonment issues stemming from his mother moving away before the divorce was even announced. It’s not healthy and he recognizes that in the break up scene by saying he doesn’t like who he’s becoming. Meanwhile, what reasons does Nini have for not communicating? Why doesn’t she tell Ricky her issues with his clinginess and instead complain to Kourtney about it? Why does she get excited when a song that wrote to vent about her frustrations with Ricky goes viral and humiliates him? The Rose Song further traumatized Ricky (no I’m not kidding) by putting his relationship and the private struggles within it on full blast for not only the entirety of his high school to see, but the world. Now everyone in his school probably knows him as “the boy in The Rose Song.” And when Ricky didn’t show 100% support, Nini immediately got upset and told him that not everything is about him. The irony is that most of season 2, Ricky is very visibly doing his absolute best to be supportive while clearly struggling with not being honest about the things in the relationship that are hurting him. Meanwhile Nini is also not being honest, but being unsupportive while doing it. Everyone is so quick to blame Ricky for everything, inside and outside the show, when he’s the one with very clear psychological reasons for every action he makes, whilst Nini is the one with consistently selfish motives who gets upset when the focus and support isn’t constantly on her. There’s a way to write a story where you root for the main character striving for independence, fame and success, and Nini is *not it.*
right! Nini just bothered me a lot this season. It felt like any personality she had was just gone and she didn't really care about ricky at all. Even though ricky did some bad stuff and was way too clingy, he was easier to empathize with
Nini probably became my least favourite character in the show. If the rumours are true that Olivia might leave and won´t return for a potential season 3 I wouldn´t even be mad about it. I mean, her voice is great, but I´m just kinda done with her character. Also, if she is gone, atleast they can distribute the solo´s more equally, instead of giving her like... 4 songs while the others get maybe 1-2 I get the whole "chasing your dreams, be independant" thing. But I think a big part of this show is the group dynamic, and how they are sticking together. And Nini just felt completely disconnected from everyone for a majority of the season. The only time I felt her reconnect with the others a little bit was in the penultimate episode, and it felt a little too late. How she treated and handled the relationship with Ricky was one of the worst parts of her. Sure Ricky is clingy, and definitely partly to blame for their issues. But she was just a horrible girlfriend? Talk about your issues with him instead of putting them into a song and then send a bunch of mixed signals to him and make him even more stressed out, which causes him to try to cling to the relationship even harder.
@@Beny763 couldn't agree more. It also feels like they were going for another "all i want" with the rose song but I just didn't care for it. How could I care about her song when I don't care about her character? Also how is it related to beauty and the beast at all??
You just spoke all my thoughts… I’m genuinely so sick of everyone hating on Ricky when clearly he’s going through a lot… tbh I wasn’t fond of the show but I loved Ricky and his character is the ONLY reason I continued to watch. All I will say is if they ruin his character in season 3 (if there is one) I’m dropping the show and pretending he had a happy ending
1. I did not like Rini at all in season 2 (mostly because of Nini) and did not find their breakup sad at all because I just wanted them to be broken up at that point (I was more relieved/happy) 2. Jonah and Amber were such a problematic couple I'm so glad that Amber was able to redeem herself in season 2 3. I don't remember Spencer being so annoying especially during their breakup 4. I agree Jake and Hannah were cute in the beginning I remember shipping them when I was younger but rewatching I realized how bad Jake was especially after he cheated
Nah Lucas was such a boring character, while I like both ships they were so better off without him. Like they were better characters without him in the picture.
I'm a die hard shipper and hopeless romantic but I gotta admit too much attention on couples can take away the heart of any show. You should make a video about the top 10 friendships on Disney. But I love the relationship vids too. I just think giving some love to the character's friendship dynamics would be really sweet.
Thank you! I love Caitlin but I'm tired of the ship videos. I want to see a Top 10 Action Sequences in Disney/Nickelodeon shows but I asked her in her first live stream about it and she's not an action person which is fine. Other requests are the Disney XD shows, and believe or not, they had their own original movies, too, the animated shows from both Disney AND Nick, collabs with other UA-camrs like John Reviews or Kyle Norty.
I love your interpretation of Marco's attachment to the cape--it makes total sense. I hadn't really thought about it before and only viewed it as him missing all the adventures and excitement he used to have when Star was around. But once you said it, I was like, 'Oh, duh, of course!' And the symmetry is great, too, considering Scent of a Hoodie (one of my favorite episodes).
Spencer is literally saying how he deserves to be with her completely disregarding Teddy’s feelings even after she tells him how she feels. and the sad thing is that’s how it is in so many Disney relationships
Honestly Maya and Farkle would’ve been cute, but I felt they were building up Maya finding out she was bi in season 4 if they were given it. So honestly just anyone that made her happy
Riley and Maya's friendship was beautiful and I get that they were trying to recreate Boy Meets World, and though it was great their chemistry was too good for them to not become Rilaya
have you seen boy meets world lol? having riley and maya get together would’ve followed that show perfectly. the foundations for friends to lovers were there
I like the clip from the Teddy and Spencer breakup because it's a good maturity moment for Teddy to see you have to grow away from people, sometimes things change, like how Spencer didn't want to stay friends.
I think Nini and Ricky weren’t good for each other anymore, but their on-screen breakup reflects all the emotions you know they had during their real breakup. I can’t imagine having to go through that twice, even though one was for TV. It would just feel too real to me. It broke my heart, but it was also a sigh of relief because they can breath now.
I'd love to see a video on best sibling relationships from Disney channel or Nickelodeon or both. A vid where you rate the sibling relationships and how close they are, how they're family relationship develops or how to act towards each other ecterea.
Caitlin talking about the "business deal" ships reminded me of how happy I am that Apple and Daring were never together and no matter how gungho Apple was about her destiny she didn't let it pressure her and Daring into and unhappy relationship
i will never ever sit back down and watch girl meets world in its entirety. sure, i'll skip around and watch episodes here and there, but i will never binge-watch it ever again. they did maya's character absolute FILTH when it came to the triangle.
When I was little I used to hate the laugh track on Disney shows but now I miss it so much. Like I feel like it’s becoming more and more rare on Disney
I think with Ricky and Nini, there was a sense of maturity in their break up. They realized (and Ricky initiated, which is huge) that they were holding each other back. They saw that their relationship wasn't as healthy as it once was, or could have been, so they decided that breaking up was the best route to go. Personally, this break up was a favorite for me because it showed us that Ricky realized his actions and decided to do something about it because he saw it was toxic. And honesty, I respect that. I'm very interested to see what happens with Lily in the future, and what Nini thinks and how their friendship develops
I fucking love this channel I don't know anything about most of these shows and I love your in depth analysis of them. It's like watching Olympic sports I've never heard of. It's fascinating.
So true! I haven’t seen some of these shows in years and others I’ve never seen, but I love her passion and the systematic breakdown even when I’m soooo opposed to her opinion lol
I started watching HSMTMTS after the whole "Driver's License/Skin/Lie Lie Lie" fiasco but I was able to separate the actors from their characters. But even with that, I hated Ricky and Nini together from the first episode. Ricky has always just seemed like the most neediest boyfriend ever who can't fathom the idea that his girlfriend has a life outside of him despite being in love. I was happy they broke up. Hell Kourtney and Howie's breakup was sadder than Ricky and Nini's
Yeah, I undestand that. Ricky really needed to grow alone (Nini too) before entering any relationship. Btw, "Lie Lie Lie" wasn't part of "the fiasco", Joshua had written the song (about an ex-friend) even before breaking up with Olivia. And, if I'm not mistaken, Olivia herself knew about the song at that time. But we can't deny that it was REALLY bad timing, mostly because of the subject of the song
@@StrawberryStarfruit9 Lol yeah, but I think he wrote it in 2019 about an old friend who had betrayed his trust. it was just wrong place at the wrong time
Well, it wasn't just Ricky that needed to grow up. Nini needed some serious classes in communication. She knew Ricky was going through a lot, and instead of talking to him about it, she would just do things behind his back. Both of them together just didn't fit. They need to figure who they are outside of the relationship.
I agree!!! I loved Matteo and Ámbar’s friendship sooo much and I really wanted to see more of it!! Especially that moment you put in and the one in S1E80 where Matteo forgives her and they hug❤️
16:32 This breakup scene got me crying. Whilst I didn't love the couple, this breakup scene had me in tears. The "Can I just hold you now?" And " You known got you" in this scene got me so bad
I have changed my opinion on the couple. I miss Rini i know they stopped having a lot of chemistry but I remember watching the show living them together, I do love Rina now though
Spencer seemed so full of himself in that scene if you really think about it at first Beau is so good I’m more of a Marissa and Brady fan I loved the Rocky and Logan one cause it really shows how good a friend Rocky is!
when i started s2 of hsmtmts, it was already hard for me to care about ricky and nini as a couple, because the irony of what was happening in the show and in real life was just too big for me to ignore, but i tried very hard you know, and from the first few episodes, it becomes apparent that the relationship is becoming claustrophobic and unhealthy, they're both very unhappy, so the break up felt very satisfying, because all that tension built was finally released, and the scene itself was very emotional, they were clearly very upset and i was sad even though i was like FINALLY! and i have to give the joshua and olivia props, they are professionals, i believed every emotion that they wanted me to, at the start i was like aw you love each other, cute, and at the end i was like aw, this is so sad! and it was also a cathartic scene seeing a break up with them that felt so real, the little part of me that was sad about olivia and josh's break up irl was like aw well at least they got to act that out
I always interpreted the line “is there anything i can do to change your mind?” as just another way of saying “are you sure?” Though i guess it is just better to say “are you sure?” for the sake of clarity
After rewatching girl meet world and paying attention to how the other students treated maya, especially in the yearbook episode, the whole plot point of Maya becoming Riley makes a lot of sense. Also my ships stayed the same, except that I no longer ship Farkle and Smackle
When you were talking about Teddy and Spencer you accidentally said “tables shipped” instead of “tables flipped” 😂😂😂 Edit: apparently she said shifted not shipped
I LOVED rini and season 1 and the start of season 2, but they started to feel really toxic so the breakup was ok with me. Also s2 of hsmtmts in my opinion was horrible.
I still love Rini so much! I don’t think that will ever change, they were such a comfort ship for me and set my expectations for s1 for what I want. I know most people ship Ricky and Gina now but in no way do I see them being endgame. They are so awkward and their relationship felt really rushed especially in s3. Ricky and Nini made the most sense and had such undeniable chemistry compared to what Ricky and Gina have. I also think that EJ and Gina were way better for each other as they had more in common than Gina ever had with Ricky. If Olivia wouldn’t have left the show I believe that Rini would be endgame. This is just my personal opinion so I hope I didn’t offend anyone or make anyone too upset. I will always miss them together. These two couples feel like right person at the wrong time. ❤
I just want to say that I just found your channel and you might just be my comfort person. Your voice and the way that I connect to you and your reviews, is a lot to me
I was obsessed with Girl Meets Works when it was on air (I also grew up watching BMW, so I was very excited for the spin-off.) About once a year, I go back to rewatch episodes of GMW for fun, every year I notice, relate to and pick out different details I never saw when I was younger. Watching it for probably the millionth time now, there are definitely lots of cringy and “profound” (forced) moments, so I don’t really like the relationships bc a lot of them feel awkward and/or forced from my POV today. I used to be a hardcore Rucas shipper bc they were sort of similar characters, but recently I really liked Riarkle bc I feel like they can learn a lot from each other and they always have a great time (even as friends.) As everyone has already said, many of the scenes from the show felt forced, but I grew up feeling so attached to the show and its characters, so I can’t help but still feel somewhat attached to it 😭
I didn't watch all of good luck charlie, I think I stopped watching sometime after Teddy and Spencer broke up after he cheated, and before they got back together (No real reason why I stopped watching, I just wasn't watching a lot of TV in general at that time). So most of what I know about them getting back together and their relationship afterwards comes from your videos. And though I don't know exactly what happened that convinced Teddy to forgive him, it still in principle bugs me that they get back together after he cheats. It's just such a betrayal that I wouldn't really expect anyone to go through the copious amount of time and work to regain that trust and to prove that they would never do never do it again, especially when there are so many people out there who would just never break that trust in the first place. And this is based just on the clip you showed, but his reaction during their second break up makes me question if Spencer really has changed. Like... this is going to be hard to explain. But I believe Spencer means it when he says "I love you" but I feel like there's an important thing missing behind his "I love you," which is "I care about you." You would think an "I love you" would automatically imply "I care about you" but it doesn't. Spencer's "I love you" feels more like an "I care about you [on the condition that we're dating]" But I don't think there's any intentional malice on Spencer's part in his claim to love Teddy. I don't think he's actively thinking, "I'll only be in your life if you date me otherwise I'm going to shut you out for the crime of not being with me." The only thing he is likely thinking is, "I love Teddy and want to be with her no matter what" And from his perspective that's a fair and unproblematic sentiment... but I don't think he's fully grasped the way he centers himself in everything. I think there's an understated self centeredness in the way Spencer feels things. Like, I don't think he believes other should treat him as a king and I don't think he'd go around being mean to other people, but the way he seems to think is centered on his emotions, and only his emotions. He wants to be with Teddy because HE loves her. He can't just be friends with her because HE SPECIFICALLY loves her romantically. To only be friends with her would be too hard for HIM. And like Caitlin mentioned, the "What can I do to change your mind" is weird. I feel like it's weird because it quietly implies that his feelings on the matter shouldn't be the ones to change, it should be Teddy's feelings that change. I'm going to add for anyone reading this that it is valid if you ever had a situation when you had unrequited feelings or broke up with someone and you were unable to maintain a friendship with them afterwards. Relationships are complicated, it doesn't mean you're selfish or bad or anything. It's just Spencer's reaction during the second break up mixed with knowing he has cheated on Teddy in the past is what gives me this impression of him. I guess to try to sum up a very long comment, once upon a time Spencer cheated on Teddy. They eventually got back together. And I feel like if you spoke to him before their second break up and asked if he would ever cheat again, he'd answer "No" and mean it. But if you asked him why he said no, I don't think he'd say, "I wouldn't want to hurt Teddy" or "That would be a horrible thing to do." I think he'd say, "I love Teddy, I wouldn't want to cheat on her." And it's nice that he loves Teddy today... but what about tomorrow, and all the days after? What would he do then?
The fact that Boy Meets World was ultimately about the main characters tackling the harder parts and values of the modern day or the 90s (including drinking, death, abuse, love, depression, pregnancy) and then Girl Meets World’s reoccurring plot is about the main girls having a crush and the proceeding to create a love triangle between a random guy from Texas. The only real sense of meeting the world truly is Maya’s arc. Teaching the kids in a classroom about your experiences (Cory) does not mean they’re (the students) going through similar struggles, just petty middle school stuff. It shows which show was more than just school drama and which was only school drama that was trying to be a show that “Meets the World” it’s like if Boy Meets World was of the same quality as the season 5 breakup arc for its entire run.
I only know like a small portion of the ships that you're speaking about here because I'm 24 and I grew up in the Hannah Montana erra of Disney and stopped watching after Wizards of Waverly Place ended. But I really liked your take on these ships and it was very interesting to me, I might even consider watching some of these shows!
i def cried when ricky and nini broke up… that said i heard in the video and also lots of comments people talking about the “drivers license drama” and i think it’s important that we as a society stop perpetuating these made up online rumors… josh has straight up said that they never were in a relationship and the fact that people even in the mainstream media but online in general keep insisting they were isn’t… great imo. take people at their word, digging into people’s private lives is invasive even if they are famous. they’re costars and anything beyond the friendship they’ve spoken about having is pure speculation…
Unpopular opinion: I never really liked Ricky and Nina's relationship in either season. I never felt they were a good couple. I wish Ricky and Gina actually happened, because I feel Ricky was a lot more likable when he spent time with Gina.
Hey Caitlin! I always enjoy your comparison lists. During the video, I was wondering if your fav/worst ships change from when you first watched a show vs when you rewatched the show a few years later.
I felt like nini was too good for Ricky in S2. He was so weird with the “you’re changing” thing because of his trauma from his mom leaving. I think they’re better as friends and Ricky needs therapy
I feel like the big thing with their relationship is that there was no communication. Nini was never telling Ricky anything and so he was right to be confused but he def needed therapy too
Ricky needs therapy and time to deal with his multitude of issues. But I wouldn´t say Nini was "too good" for him. She wasn´t handling that relationship well either. She doesn´t know what she wants, and while figuring things out she is held back by her relationship with Ricky. And instead of communicating, like AT ALL, with him. She kept everything to herself, did everything on her own without confiding in her boyfriend. I mean, she wrote a song about how unhappy she was and when he tried to talk about it she brushed it off and acted like he was in the wrong for thinking it is about him, when it clearly was about him. They both just weren´t ready for a relationship at all.
Nini was awful in season 2. How on Earth was she too good for him? He was just trying to understand the sudden changes in her character and she kept acting like he wasn’t worth her time.
I think nini was awful to him this season ,with what ricky was going through nini was really the only stable person in his life and she thought he was clinging to her and yeah he was but I think it was because he needed her
nini was in no way too good for ricky. he had more unmet needs from his recent trauma. ricky needed someone dependable and stable, which is normally a parent but at that point his home wasnt, and nini was, for years, especially (supposedly) during the leadup to his parents divorce. having her suddenly change sure as hell is going to make him seem "weird" or "clingy" and hell yeah ricky needs therapy
I was so ready for Rini to break up even though I loved them in season one. Once we got some better ships (REDLYN!!) there was really no need for Ricky and Nini to stay together. I’m glad they broke up, but the scene was still super emotional, and I had to go to Sonic and get a therapy slush afterwards…
I found this channel recently just wanted to say I cant wait to watch Luna I speak Spanish but it's pretty choppy cause I just don't speak it often but this is the perfect level for me and I don't know why I never thought of it. Also I just love hearing someone older talk about disney and keep up with it too.yay
i agree with all the ships on this list. also i’m still team ricky and gina. gina/sofia wylie is still the reason i even watch the show. plus you didn’t miss much for the second half of the season.
@@chinonsookpara2224 abs that ine thing in common has made them trust each other so much to the point where they open up about very personal things with eachother so take that bitch
yeah rewatching this and. if someone was dating my best friend and said they liked someone else and then said it was ME I would be PISSED. you not only wasted my friends time but USED her to get to ME? HELL NO.
I feel like Ricky and nini’s breakup was beneficial for them because they both had a lot going on in S2, especially Ricky. I think that if they find themselves individually and start to communicate their feelings more then it would work out. I hope they get back together
It felt like Rini weren’t back together again for very long which was kinda dumb but I was fine with them breaking up. Seblos are the only couple who I really want to work out (and Portwell lowkey).
I was glad Ricky and Nini broke up ( as a fan of the show ). I think it was really great that they were taking some time apart because it was obvious the relationship was hurting them both. Ricky was way too controlling while Nini didn't care enough. That being said, I do think the break up scene was sad but not because of them breaking up lol. I think I was sadder when Ricky broke down in front of Big Red because he was holding it in during the break up, he made me cry.
3:20 I tried going back and rewatching but the treatment of maya in GMW is just so horrible that I have a hard time watching a character I relate to so much go through that again
Girl Meets World is just so bad. It feels like it was written by the people who wrote 7th Heaven and Sweet Life of the American Teenager. The lines are awkward, the performances are wooden and everyone feels like a robot.
The Spencer and Teddy breakup would be my number 1 because even though I was only 19 when this first aired I remember being disgusted when they got back together after he cheated, particularly because it’s a Disney show
its always so funny whenever a ship breaks up and i’m like “YES FINALLY” but they make it so dramatic and they try so hard to make us sad about it and its like bish what?? edit: ALSO THERES A CHARACTER IN BIA NAMED MARA??? SHE RA IS THAT YOU??? I GUESS EVERYONE WHO IS HER FRIEND CAN BE CALLED A FRIEND OF MARA NOW HAHAHAH JK BUT STILL WE LOVE
So happy to see Nini and Ricky on this list. Also, totally fine to include Disney+ stuff, it´s basically the evolution of Disney Channel, now that DC is kinda disappearing. I was so on board with them in season 1. And I don´t care about all the alleged drama. But this shift in season 2... I really wasn´t sure if it was intentional at first. They became so bad together. And then episode 8 happened, and while it was really sad and emotional, I was so relieved and happy. It was just the best thing that could happen to both of their characters.

As someone they really didn’t care about Rini there breakup scene was emotional
yeah that was the only moment in the season where their connection was actually the strongest, ironically. I didn't even want them together and I was tearing up
Yeah, they were getting so toxic together and fighting all the time but I did cry a tiny bit during their break up scene lol
It's the fact that they played the "we have been friends for forever, how do we now let each other go, even tho we need to, and find our way back to that friendship?" part to a t. They are amazing actors, and this scene, if nothing else, was the proof
@@anaissilva6278 tbh i dont think it was JUST nini and ricky, i think it was truly olivia because her emotions were so true. idk if that makes sense
Lol, so true. Their relationship wasn't goals or healthy as many people love to say
Yes!

Adrienette is cute but Marinette's obsessions can get creepy and LadyNoir is more partnership and just best friend energy (though these past few episodes Ladybug been a lil bit of a biatch to mah boi Chat Noir).
The fact the main four ships are all the same 2 people- and there are STILL shipping wars- I CAN NOT DO THIS ANYMORE THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE
girl let's talk about it XD
I'll be forever salty that we didn't get riarkle.

Olivia Rodrigo saying "I don't want to hold you back, but can I hold you now?" Straight up sounds like a song lyric she would write.
i was kinda mad rini got back together at the end of s1 because i felt they had matured enough after their first breakup to the point where they didn’t need to be together to be happy and when they broke up again i was literally so happy 😭
honestly that’s definitely an unpopular opinion but i agree
If you watched season 2 you would know that they broke up again, and didn’t get back together when s2 ended
i think it would’ve stayed that way if they had a “proper” breakup but they had no closure the first time instead. nini literally breaks up with him while in a relationship with someone else because they weren’t on the same page if they were initially on a break or broken up. and honestly that should’ve been the first sign of their terrible communication.
@@paypaykate no i was talking about how they broke up during s1, got back together for s2, and broke up again at the end of s2
Oh oops sorry I misread the comment lol
Nini and Ricky absolutely broke my heart but made me happy at the same time. Very conflicting emotions for me
Agreed, they needed to break up but the scene was still emotional anyway
But they made the right choice in getting back together thank goodness here!
But mostly I made this comment to say that there are people in the fandom who were not surprised about Rini’s trajectory at all.
they didn’t need to breakup tho. Yiu have one argument in a relationship and you breakup? That dosen’t make sense
@@chinonsookpara2224 I think that one argument was about a lot more though. They never even fully addressed their original break-up. There wasn't a whole lot of communication between either of them.

@@Mia_Myeah that’s true
Also, if she is gone, atleast they can distribute the solo´s more equally,
instead of giving her like... 4 songs while the others get maybe 1-2
I get the whole "chasing your dreams, be independant" thing.
Agreed I don’t think most people understand how Rickys parents divorce had an affect on him
You just spoke all my thoughts… I’m genuinely so sick of everyone hating on Ricky when clearly he’s going through a lot… tbh I wasn’t fond of the show but I loved Ricky and his character is the ONLY reason I continued to watch. All I will say is if they ruin his character in season 3 (if there is one) I’m dropping the show and pretending he had a happy ending

It's been so long since I've seen Shake It Up, but YES ROCKY, GO OFF!!!! We love queens standing up for their besties!!
I used to be a hardcore Rucas shipper bc they were sort of similar characters, but recently I really liked Riarkle bc I feel like they can learn a lot from each other and they always have a great time (even as friends.) As everyone has already said, many of the scenes from the show felt forced, but I grew up feeling so attached to the show and its characters, so I can’t help but still feel somewhat attached to it 😭
I have to be honest, it’s been so long since I’ve seen Shake It Up that I forgot it even had ships in it
I didn't watch all of good luck charlie, I think I stopped watching sometime after Teddy and Spencer broke up after he cheated, and before they got back together (No real reason why I stopped watching, I just wasn't watching a lot of TV in general at that time).
But I believe Spencer means it when he says "I love you" but I feel like there's an important thing missing behind his "I love you," which is "I care about you."
You would think an "I love you" would automatically imply "I care about you" but it doesn't. Spencer's "I love you" feels more like an "I care about you [on the condition that we're dating]"
But I don't think there's any intentional malice on Spencer's part in his claim to love Teddy.
What would he do then?
a stream last night and then a new video?? i feel spoiled 🤩 love it
The fact that Boy Meets World was ultimately about the main characters tackling the harder parts and values of the modern day or the 90s (including drinking, death, abuse, love, depression, pregnancy) and then Girl Meets World’s reoccurring plot is about the main girls having a crush and the proceeding to create a love triangle between a random guy from Texas.
But I really liked your take on these ships and it was very interesting to me, I might even consider watching some of these shows!
i def cried when ricky and nini broke up… that said i heard in the video and also lots of comments people talking about the “drivers license drama” and i think it’s important that we as a society stop perpetuating these made up online rumors… josh has straight up said that they never were in a relationship and the fact that people even in the mainstream media but online in general keep insisting they were isn’t… great imo. take people at their word, digging into people’s private lives is invasive even if they are famous.
they’re costars and anything beyond the friendship they’ve spoken about having is pure speculation…
you reminded me how much i loved that moment when chase dumps his gf to stay friends with zoey ugh
15:29 nini was the worst character in the show and this break up made me so happy
I read the title and saw Nini on the thumbnail and went, "Oh no..."
I mean, I saw the breakup coming, but it still *destroyed* me
Yeah, their relationship was getting toxic but the breakup scene with still sad anyway
During the video, I was wondering if your fav/worst ships change from when you first watched a show vs when you rewatched the show a few years later.
omg Ambar and Matteo’s breakup was so satisfying istg
Loved the Miley Jake one bc of the nostalgia factor for me and I feel like the writing was well thought out, all their lines still hold up even now.
I found this channel recently just wanted to say I cant wait to watch Luna I speak Spanish but it's pretty choppy cause I just don't speak it often but this is the perfect level for me and I don't know why I never thought of it. Also I just love hearing someone older talk about disney and keep up with it too.yay
Tom and Star's second relationship was actually kinda healthy and mature
i agree with all the ships on this list. also i’m still team ricky and gina. gina/sofia wylie is still the reason i even watch the show. plus you didn’t miss much for the second half of the season.
I LOVE RICKY AND GINA. they’re so diff yet have so much in common. and they still have to talk in s3 whether people like it or not
Thank you Team Rina
let’s go rina nationnn
@@iviario4088 they have one thing in common
@@chinonsookpara2224 abs that ine thing in common has made them trust each other so much to the point where they open up about very personal things with eachother so take that bitch
yeah rewatching this and. if someone was dating my best friend and said they liked someone else and then said it was ME I would be PISSED. you not only wasted my friends time but USED her to get to ME? HELL NO.
Ambar and matteo breaking up was one of the best things in soy luna besides lutteo and also today's the anniversary of the last episode airing
Exactly
I remember when Amber and Jonah broke up for the first time... I CHEERED!!
Ricky and nini's breakup was so satisfying, It was a relief
CAITLIN YOUR THE WORST YOU MADE ME WATCH RINI BREAK UP AGAIN NOW I MIGHT CRY FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS
Yoooo another She-Ra fan!
HAHAHA YES MARA
I appreciate the variety on this list.
My favorite is definitely Rocky and Logan. I could tell they were not gonna last the second they got together and that scene is everything. 😊
everyone was talking about how they were crying during the rini breakup i was cheering
