I have the 6'9 - 3 weight. I've been using it for the last 3 years, for trout, grayling etc, mainly on small streams. For short to medium range presentations with small/medium size flies it's a delight to use and great fun play a fish on.
The description of medium action means medium for a glass rod. I have an Epic Fastglass which is noticeably quicker than the Echo, but still relatively slow compared to my graphite rods.
I love the flex and feel you get using glass and would also suggest (just my opion) that they're good for someone new to fly fishing to learn on as the geater flexibility gives a better sense of the blank loading.

Can you use the bad ass for Florida surf fishing? Newbie to fly fishing asking.

I have not yet gotten my hands on the Bad Ass Glass rod to review yet but according to the Echo website it is saltwater ready.

Yes you can. Dudes are using 10wts for dorado and 8wts for bonefishing. I have a 7wt and that thing definitely has the guts to pack a heavy punch. Use a line that has a heavy grain weight and an aggressive taper
