I won't pretend I am an expert...just diving into my first DT175 overhaul...but for the benefit of others watching...if you have access to someone who can bore out the cylinder, they make oversized pistons so that you can remove any deep scoring marks. All sizes are in the service manual for my 1978 DT175E where you can go up 5 sizes from the standard 66mm to almost a 67mm diameter. Also, there are different piston rings for each size you would use.
Hello, do you have to open up the bottom end to get to the piston? I took off the upper top end that exposes the top of the piston but I can’t get the bottom of the head off.

Hello, there might be gasket sealer on the base gasket, pry gently around the bottom of the cylinder where it meets the cases. Very gently! Cheers
