East Coast Red Neck Garage, which is basically me, my tools, in my backyard garage. With help from friends and family, we will be fixing, modifying, wiring and building, motorcycles, cars, lawn mowers and just about anything with an engine. There will be BSA, Buell, Harley, Corvette content as well as anything else that might pass though the garage door. I like pretty much anything with an engine, especially ones that have been given up on. I like a challenge to see if things will get a second chance to run again. I am not a professional, just a guy who likes to keep the backyard mechanic spirit alive.

A recently acquired 1972 380 GT, 3 cylinder 2-stroke. I hasn't been on the road since 2017. We gave it a once over and rode it for a few 100kms. It doesn't quite feel like it's opening all the way up so we will check on a few things and see what we can find. Honda CB750 Drag Bike Part 1

A 1980 CB750F Super Sport followed me home. There is not much known about the history of this machine except it was a drag bike of some kind. My plan is to resurrect this bike and try and race it at a local drag strip. There is no budget for this project so everything I need will have to be free or close to it. Christmas Ride on a 1968 BSA at -1 Degrees
what was the part number on that piston, I may need a .10 over one. cant find them got the same problem. i cant get mine going, I just started messing with it the other day
I have a the exact same bike well very similar lol with a green fiberglass body been setting for probley 5+ years atlest same Goodyear eagles where did you locate them mine are toast from setting so long
Hello, I got them at Schnitz Racing Motorsports Decatur IN. Hope this helps, they shipped here in Canada really fast.
Sounds some nice. Know you were excited when she kicked over with a couple kicks 👍
I was caught by surprise and totally excited.
She`s a beauty.
Can't wait to let it loose!
My dad had one of these, a 1972 I think. It was the metallic red. I remember as a little guy of 7 or 8 him and I loading it into the back,of our 1972 GMC and going to Reno for the air races. He told me that riding back to the motel on one day I fell asleep on the back seat and he had to make sure I didn’t fall off. Great times.
Thanks, I love these classic stories, thanks for sharing.
Sweet, that's my kind of bike.
Should be a blast to run!
Nice to see it run! B.Z!
I love the sound of air cooled inline 4's.
Sheer speed and madness. Enjoy
I hope so😀
FUBAR
Quite a nasty surprise! It can be repaired...chin up!
It'll ringa dinga again but better😁
Your new winter project, sadly. Should be great when it's all done.
Fingers crossed!
Bro I got the next model dt175, where yours ended at 81, in Oz I got the first year of the next road models, an 82. I didn't think this would be an issue with mine but it is and the piston advertised as 82-10, makes me wonder how they still sell them wrong
It was a learning curve, sometimes you get a weird one year only thing.
You need a gear reduction starter and the smallest gear you can put on the starter to fit your chain. Then you need the largest gear on your rollers you can fit that clears. Built a similar starter and ran into the same issues.
Thank you, I'll be revisiting it this winter. Thanks for the tips.
I got nos carbs for that
Thanks, I will let the owner know.
You ready to sell it?
Yea
Sold to a local club member.
Great repair, can't believe you got it going. i wonder what the last year they made these was? I'm thinking I had a 76 or around in there but it could have been sitting in the motorcycle show-room and might have been a 75, it was definitely 2-cycle and a friend had a Honda 75 and he clocked me and I could only get up to about 25mph, maybe 30 tops on a good day. No rear shocks was brutal, it was a rough ride and the front shocks weren't good (way too stiff as I recall), but the dang thing wouldn't run for long-periods, you couldn't get it restarted if it was hot if I recall correctly. They didn't like to run hot. I'll never forget the sound of the two-cycle sundowner mini-bike
I tried to find out some info but there wasn't much. I went around the block a few times and the chain was crawling over the sprockets causing a bad oscillation. the front end was very loose and worn out. It went back to the owner for them to finish it off. Thanks for the comment.
This is awesome, it would pay to get a second one to handle the ECU power such as Injectors and coils but how to configure current limiting for these?
That would be a cool setup. Might need an electrical engineer buddy to figure that out. Thanks for the comments.
😀👍🇺🇸🇵🇱
Thanks
Thanks
Hello 👍😀
Thanks
Hello thank you for film😀👍 Regards from Poland
Thanks for watching!
On the wlc does the front break have both shoe cams connected so the shoes push out top & bottom when applying the brakes???
Next time I have the wheel off I'll check and let you know.
You were definitely on to something....I did think that starter motor would be too small when compression was thrown in but I like the low profile design.
Thank you, I'm getting back to it this summer.
Awesome. Didn't take 20 years to get it fixed up, or was it a find ??
It was a stored in the back of a garage find.
Nice! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Good step by step. Well done.
Thanks my buddy!
did it run your bike ? your entire wiring can effect your box hot wire box only isolate all other
Yes, i have about 2000kms on it with no issues.
That has a different look to it.
A bit odd indeed.
Haha that was anticlimactic. Perseverance!!
It usually is!
Great design. Look forward to the modifications!
Thank you, hopefully finish it this winter.
Grey smoke, crank seal, sorry.
Condensation, zero degrees, cold engine. Cleared up when it came up to temp.
Have you done a compression test? Is the oil pump dialed in? Is the gearbox oil staying at the same level?
It's all fine.@@bananabrooks3836
It's amazing how much difference a clean pipe will do for a 2 stroke.
Can't wait to test it out!
Yeah... that baffle was caked shut pretty badly! VAROOM!!! I can smell it from here!
Then it was silent
The one guy said he used a high torque starter motor. Like you design though, should work just fine
I'm getting some bigger cables and a solenoid with a foot switch. A little winter project to finish.
Amal, got it
Amal is code for available 😁
What carb and throttle cable?
An Emgo universal throttle and cable modified ti fit.
You could have made a spacer to go under the cylinder to make it work. This might introduce other issues with the ex pipe bolting up and the carb not aligning with the air boot. These could be overcome fairly easily.
I'm just a hack, i just wanted to use stock parts.
Did the carb/pipe swap have the desired effect of giving you more top end?
Waiting for an above freezing day, a snowstorm is being forecasted for tonight. It's not looking good.
@@ECRNGarage I get it but it would be nice to know. A buddy and I road raced a B25 back in the day. We got OK power out of it (for a 60s four-stroke single) but the oil pump cavitated at speed.
It looks like you can kick the engine through compression quite easily without a valve lifter. I can't do that with mine, I could stand on the kickstart for minutes before it will get over TDC. Maybe the compression is lacking?
It's not as easy as it looks and i am 230 pounds pushing on it. I can do the same with my stock engine. My compression is 150psi. Plus with the kicker near the bottom i can pull with my arms too.
Can you tell me where you got the rollers please
They are from Princess Auto that were modified to the shafts.
That will make the neighbours happy... :-)
A got a thumbs up.........maybe it wasn't a thumb, hmmmm .
Nice video Adam... now git 'er out there and go faster!!!
Zoom zoom@@brucegoldsmith3721
Wow so simply explained I ordered my a couple days ago
Thank you, hope it helps.
I am wanting advice on hooking in the ignition cdi box.
I'll help if I can, what do you need to know?
@@ECRNGarage well I got it all figured out I watched this again. When all done have everything installed. Make sure to configure the voltage outputs. I was burning electronics ignition just did the first configure last night. Ran great this morning.
Good eye with the plug boot. I’ve run into this on the Sportster more than once. Vibration maybe?
That's what I was thinking too.The BSA rattles quite a bit.
I'm happy to see you beginning sort that motor out, it's already a lot faster than the old one... and you're just getting started! 😊
Weeeeeeee!
1:11 you should have used the meter on ohms because it's a 5k ohm cap so a meter that is set to continuity will tell you it's open circuit because anything over about one ohm will come up as open circuit.
Thank you. I had checked it on ohms when i first had an issue, and it was infinite. The new cap was 4.5
thanks for the video very informative and useful , just one thing please dont wave the camera around so much and so fast makes one sea sick
You're welcome, early days learning how to record videos :)
If your horn is hooked up, do you have to listen to it beeping each time you want to program the M Unit ?
No, when it's in programming mode it's just a button.Great question, thank you.
if you are trying to find pistons or rings for the 74 75 or 76 They are kinda hard to find or there expensive. But the MX 175 bikes the piston and rings fit I got nos OEM rings For under $20 remember the MX has the same piston and rings same part number
Thanks for the information, hopefully this gets out to others having this issue.
On the PP cover a oring can help with sealing centre bolt or grey permatex. Great progress man,
Great idea, I will definitely try that.
Bigger cables and a real cable mount would help a lot.
Thanks. I'm going to make things more electrically sound over the winter.
Hey mate can you share the jet sizes you used for the 45?
The stock press-in pilot and a 200 main jet.
