Thanks Tom I just spent about 15 mins customising this after duplicating your template. Now I will be able to focus much better on improving my performance. i suffer from autism, adhd so this has been a real challenge up until now hopefully.
What I like about this is that it's simple. Getting back into the gym you really need everything just simple to make the actual working out part more achievable. Especially with using Notion as it can get very complicated very quickly and before you know it you are spending more time getting Notion to work for you than going to the actual gym.
Appreciated this simple idea. I just started working out with my son (also named Tom) and wanted to follow his routine. I easily pulled everything in from what he shared with me and created a super easy workout tracker using your suggestions. Thanks for laying this out!
One thing I'd say is that adding columns (properties) to a table is an ineffective and hard to extend way to add data. Columns are meant to be used as properties that can group, join, and otherwise identify a unique row. Rows, on the other hand, are designed to be expanded and to extend and grow the table, and to add new data within the properties you laid out. When working with real-life databases, whenever columns are added or removed, there is a large migration process that needs to occur. The same principles should be added here. If anything, invert the rows and columns, but I think you could benefit more from a slightly different design. This one works up to a point, but past that it gets inconvenient and limited.
Yo Tom this is 100% better than others I’ve seen. Way simpler. You don’t wanna be that guy staring at notion for 5m between every set trying to dial in your numbers. Copying this. Thanks 🙏
Great post. Would definitely be interested in seeing your more advanced template. One problem I faced in tracking workouts was that some days I would lift more weight, and other days I may lift less weight with higher reps. In tracking only weight, it made it harder to see whether I was making progress and getting stronger and fitter, outside of just lifting heavier weights. I introduced a power rating for each set: (kg * reps) * (weight / 1 rep max) This allowed me to track intensity and overall output of each set > exercise > workout > workout week. Would be cool to see something like this in a more advanced template : )
Great suggestion Larne, I get the problem of trying to balance weight and reps. For me volume = weight * reps and studies show increasing volume is the most important aspect of improving your numbers. Having a workout tracker that could give you some measure of progress here would be great I think
@@TomLittlersChannel Agreed 100%. I suppose the upside of also having some kind of a power/intensity rating is that you can start to compare bicep workouts with chest workouts. Eg. having a constant such as 'one rep max' means i can see if I am working as hard across all muscle groups or workout days
Hi Tom, I tried to download the Template/get the download link in my mail, provided my correct email address, but with no luck. Nothing... not in my inbox, not in my spam folder. Any idea, what went wrong?
Great, today in the gym I had the idea with Notion. I've been training for 10 years and I'm sick of notebooks. Have you released your more advance training video yet? I'd like to use an algorithm to enter the sets, weight and repetitions. I already have Excel tampletes. Thank you very much!

@ Logical Skeptic, don't see your Autism and Adhd as suffering and keep going ! :)

Nice idea, never thought to use Notion for gym, but makes perfect sense. No reason why could not be used for nutrition plan too I guess.
Good idea to be fair, I guess it depends on how religiously you track your nutrients etc. as myfitnesspal is hard to be beat for that!

I am very surprised no one else talks about that. Thank you for pointing it out, in such a great way

My pleasure parker - simplicity is key with workout trackers in my experience!
@@TomLittlersChannel is there a way to separate the pages and have one page show all the collums and one page just show last weeks and this weeks?
