I don’t understand these people. “He’s insane and everything he says sickens me, but on the other hand I don’t know what I want to hear from her but I haven’t heard it yet” and “I get that her policies are good for the society I live in as a whole and will even benefit people in my family that I care about, but screw those people what’s in it for me?”
To be fair, that was the dilemma with young people until recently which is why they had such a hard time turning out. There's a lot for people who are paying attention, but everyone else needs something more.
6 min in. They’ve always voted Republican. They voted Trump the last two times, the husband voted Trump in the primary “begrudgingly”. Guys, they’re not undecided. They’re going to vote Trump because he has the magic R next to their name.
I don't know; they both voted for Democratic Governor Shapiro. They appear to be independent thinkers, rejecting that Chaney/ other Republicans' endorsements make a difference to them. Also, didn't he say his support of Trump moved from 52 to 51%? She has even more reservations re Trump, having voted against him in the primary. They recognized tariffs are against their economic interest (and it matters for them w/ inflation & their fixed incomes). She was annoyed Trump failed to take responsibility for 1/6. Finally, she seemed to accept Harris' warnings about Trump's admiration of dictators and the risk he poses for the Ukraine. She voted against Trump in the primary; I think she is definitely on to the risk Trump poses. As an educated career woman who taught special education and at the college level, I believe she'll choose Harris, the only candidate who shares her values (being law-abiding, honest & compassionate), intellect and common sense and whose experience (as DA, AG, Senator & VP) make her extraordinarily qualified. I'm hopeful she will persuade her husband, family, friends & community to do the same. 🙂
Agreed. They are not in the cult and they understand some major things wrong with him, but he has the magic "R" plus some things that they won't reveal. They will vote Trump, and they are in process of justifying it in their 70-year old brains.
People who are lifelong Republicans who say they aren’t sure, are people who plan to vote for Trump but realize it’s gauche to say so at the moment. They aren’t undecided. They just don’t want to have to bother with defending the indefensible.
This. I also enjoy that they don't care about any of the govt subsidies because they won't do anything for them but somehow they're really concerned about the border.
@@ColbyFreeman Sure their concerned about the border. Doesn't Pennsylvania border Mexico? Maybe we should fund public schools with the money Mexico going to give us when they pay for the wall. Sarcasm intended
The Pennsylvania couple is not undecided. They are going to vote for Trump, they just don’t want to admit. I do fear that a lot of these so-called undecideds are the same way.
“Well that’s not going to help us.” Sorry but maybe you could vote for President based on who is better for society as a whole? Is that too much to ask?
Seems more like they want an excuse to be able to vote for Trump again. I have a small child, and I can't understand how can folks point to Trump as an example of how we should act towards one another. You wouldn't let a toddler act the way he does, why would we let our president? As school teachers, I hope they find clarity soon.
They've been raised on the idea that Trump is some famous businessman, and have fed _deeply_ on the idea that the more money someone has, the more better they are than the rest of us. So rather than re-examining that mentality, they stick with "what they know".
Undecided voters not knowing whether to get in the car with the check engine light on or the car on fire and about to explode. These “undecided” are absolute embarrassments
It’s hard to call these voters undecided. They have a million reasons not to vote for Trump, but will still vote for him anyways because Harris isn’t the perfect candidate.
Life long teachers who consider voting for the dissolving of the Department of Education... because the Harris economic polices aren't specifically targeting them ... Peek boomer entitlement. If they think inflation sucks now, wait until their teacher pensions are cut because federal funding is stopped.
trump is much more than just a serial liar, though that's enough evidence of bad character for anyone who has decent character themselves. trump is corrupt, a malignant narcissist, a convicted felon with other serious charges pending, an autocrat and Putin wannabe, a traitor who attempted to subvert our electoral process in several ways and cares nothing about democracy. Why would anyone with moral grounding and a functional brain consider voting for this loathsome demagogue? People who are "undecided" are failed citizens who are either grossly uniformed or bigots seeking confirmation bias reinforcement.
Would any of the undecided want Trump to be the principal of the local high school, the pastor of their church, their rabbi or imam? Do they like the way he talks about women? Would they be happy to have their daughter or granddaughter date him? Where are their principles??
Trump doesn't say her name at the debate and then intentionally mispronounces it in rallies. This man, besides being a fool, exhibits behavior we wouldn't accept from a toddler, let alone a president.
They can say they're "truly" undecided til they're blue in the face. What makes it hard to believe them is not the obvious things about Trump and Harris, but how obviously these people LOVE attention. Just listen to them. -These interviews are THE reason they keep saying they can't decide, because of how fascinating and "deep" it makes them seem.
My impression of undecided voters is that they are not giving much credence to the importance of moral character. The 2 in Pennsylvania sound like they would write in Nikki Haley. And why do these undecided voters only think about what will help me? There seems to be no thought about what would help most of the people in the USA. It seems to be that these voters focus only on what will help me which is a reflection of the extreme individualism in this country. Most 3rd term abortions occur because the mother's life is in danger or the fetus is nonviable. And yes, I am pro-choice because I don't want the government deciding what my fellow citizens should do with their bodily health.
I mean if they're looking for a female Indian-American, gun-owning, hawkish public servant with the endorsement of the Chaneys... There's one on the ticket
The throughline of these voters seems to be that they're looking for the candidate who will pass legislation that directly benefits them. Aren't citizens supposed to consider what's best for the whole country? Or is it just a matter of viewing government as a gravy train and if it doesn't stop at your doorstep, it's not worth consideration?
I agree, and too many voters can't see beyond the edges of their kitchen table. I expect people to care about the economy, but most voters are so simple-minded or downright ignorant of the economic facts and history that they continue to blame Biden for inflation as if it's all his fault. They should care about lots of other issues like reproductive rights, fair tax policy, climate change, the environment, the character of a person in the White House, the Supreme Court going corrupt, and most of all protecting our democracy. Those things affect all of us, and trump is the worst person to handle all those issues. So a voter who claims to be "undecided" is a failed citizen.
They were teachers? Did they ever say the word ‘research’ to their students? Do they not have access to newspapers or the internet? If a student had said I relied on a ninety-minute TV show to get all my information, they would no doubt have moaned about how much better educated their generation was…
"[Tax credits for new homeowners, new parents, and new small businesses]...Doesn't help us"... Are you not part of a community and society?!? Kamala needs to do a massive campaign regarding the price gouging policy proposals. That’s a block of voters that she’d probably lock them in with that policy
Now I understand why our public educational system in this country is in sad shape after listening to the Pennsylvania teacher couple… also they sounded incredibly selfish- What’s in it for me? They don’t even think about what is best for the country after 4 years of our country being in shambles under Trump.
Harris should announce a major policy push towards helping with the cost of living. Like it's the most important issue and the field is completely empty. Trump is preoccupied with himself and whatever replacement story the Republicans are running at the moment. Harris has that served to her on a silver platter. All she has to do is to prepare a speech, have it run on national TV and make it a major policy announcement. It's that easy. She'd instantly get a bump of +3, +4 maybe even +5%. It would be over.
She has - federal controls on price gouging (many states have these already), and a goal of 3 million new housing units via incentives and changes to zoning
@@lawrencetchen Also breaking up monopolies. Just recently the FTC blocked the Kroger-Albertsons merger that would've made it way harder to collectively bargain or maintain stable grocery prices
We all know how these two people are going to vote. However, I am curious if there is some sort of bias this creates in people when you follow their thoughts so closely for months. Perhaps they think about it more than the average voter now, and like the idea of making a decision, even though they are going to vote for who they're going to vote for anyway. You're giving these people an elevated sense of importance
There are so many people who are uncomfortable with the loony left and overspending, but also uncomfortable with a chaotic Trump administration. It's not very difficult to understand how people could be undecided.
Some voters make no sense: The Pennsylvania couple was very worried about the economy and when Trump proposes tariffs=taxes on imports which will most likely hike prices on goods, and the husband was still going to vote for Trump. Make it make sense, people.
if you voted for trump in 2020 there is no policy that matters to you or would appeal to you. They're just embarassed trump voters and one of them might stay home and not vote.
I was impressed with their knowledge and desire to know the facts. These are intelligent and very knowledgeable voters. They care enough about our country to make the right decision.
I'm especially impressed by Emily. She really thought things out, felt the conflict within herself, but in the end, chose democracy over the danger and idiocy that is Trump. She should know that she's voting on the right side of history and on a more personal level, for the future of her 16 year old daughter.
