My all time favourite pop singer. She touched my heart when I was a litle boy and Step Inside Love has always been my favourite of all her songs. I would be allowed to stay up and watch her black and white shows in the 1960s when i was little, and remember how she'd end each show by singing one of her songs...moving to the back of the stage and fanning her arms open right at the end. On the last show of one of the series she sang this and couldn't get to the end, breaking down at the sheer emotion of her joy at being on air. I will never forget that anddoes anyone else remember it happening? Cilla will never die, she lives on in us all forever.
It's written by Paul only, but credited as a Lennon-Mcartney song, probably because they had some sort of joint contract while writing during their Beatles era/brian epstein managment. Paul played guitar on Cilla's first demo of the song.
Born in 1945 i grew up into the late 50s and then the 60s; i sometimes feel i should apologise for being a teeager in the golden age of popular music. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing.
How can she be dead, I shall always treasure seeing her in reception at London Weekend Television on the South Bank, we looked at each other, Cilla looked very tired, I loved this song by Paul McCartney from 1968, this video was a fine tribute.
This reminds me of Channel 9 in the 1980s, with this piece of music sounding like the late great the Midday show musical director & bandleader & Channel 9 television themes composer, Mr Geoff Harvey.
An interesting piece of trivia is that this clip is taken from "The Cilla Black Special" from the program "Brian Henderson's Bandstand" which was produced in studio no 2 at Channel Nine at Willoughby, Sydney. The Midday Show was made in the same studio. Sadly, the historic studio complex has become so many apartments.
I also love this version, especially her smile and dance. And I think "curse" in the lyric of the 1st verse is "cares", actually (really lovely pronunciation!!).
@@MARTIN-bd7gm You don't have much control over an accent when singing. Its not an "Americanising" thing. Only group whose accent really powered through their singing voice was The Proclaimers.
@@MouseyBusiness Martin is correct - so many groups did and still do pronounce words the American way in song, and it's a) because they've grown up with the American accent in songs and b) so the less intelligent Americans can understand them therefore gaining more sales
Step inside love Let me find you a place Where the cares of the day will be carried away By the smile on your face We are together now and forever Come my way Step inside love and stay Step inside love Step inside love Step inside love I want you to stay You look tired, love Let me turn down the light Come in out of the cold Rest your head on my shoulder And love me tonight I'll always be here if you should need me Night and day Step inside love and stay Step inside love Step inside love Step inside love I want you to stay When you leave me Say you'll see me again For I know in my heart We will not be apart And I'll miss you 'til then We'll be together now and forever Come my way Step inside love and stay Step inside love I want you to Step inside love You know I do Step inside love I want you to stay
(Proverbs 9:13-18) "¶ A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. {14} For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, {15} To call passengers who go right on their ways: {16} Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, {17} Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. {18} But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."
Such an underrated song. So beautiful and tender. Cilla was perfect for it.
She screeches the words
Mum and I never missed Cilla’s show in Australia, she was fabulous

R I P CILLA 🙏💙
Written by Lennon and McCartney. Beautifully sung by Cilla ❤️
No way Lennon had anything to do with this

Beautiful song.. love it love it love it love it
A top class jazz song
I'm surprised this wasn't a No.1 hit.
It should have been but the Beatles were No 1....The only thing keeping a Beatles tune from being No1 was a Beatles tune.

Shes from Liverpool and i love that she sings in her real accent and doesnt resort to Americanising every song like most did and still do .

Step inside love
Let me find you a place
Where the cares of the day will be carried away
By the smile on your face
We are together now and forever
Come my way
Step inside love and stay
Step inside love
Step inside love
Step inside love
I want you to stay
You look tired, love
Let me turn down the light
Come in out of the cold
Rest your head on my shoulder
And love me tonight
I'll always be here if you should need me
Night and day
Step inside love and stay
Step inside love
Step inside love
Step inside love
I want you to stay
When you leave me
Say you'll see me again
For I know in my heart
We will not be apart
And I'll miss you 'til then
We'll be together now and forever
Come my way
Step inside love and stay
Step inside love
I want you to
Step inside love
You know I do
Step inside love
I want you to stay
All thanks to Paul ...
God rest her, and take unto your care the soul of George Harrison

I really like this and I’m not gay! Hahahaha

A great song, but not live! You can tell she's lip-sincing as she doesn't sing some of the words right at the end :O
who cares!
