1966: I'm 14 years old, passing through puberty, getting interested in girls but very shy. Then I heard Dusty singing You Don't Have To say You Love me on the radio. Wow - I was totally awestruck and in love! The first 45 I ever bought. 1981: I'm 29 years old, married (still am to the same lovely girl), and starting to go deaf. I still listen to Dusty singing this, but not as often as I'd like to. 1999: 47 years old. I'm hard of hearing now, but when I heard of Dusty's death I went searching for my beloved 45. It's gone as has a lot of my music collection because of my deafness. 2006: 54 years old and very hard of hearing. I find a book and 4 CD collection named "Simply ... Dusty". I buy it like a shot. The old magic is still there, although the volume I need to listen to it properly gives me a headache. I listen to it as often as I can. 2020: 68 years old and hearing loss is severe.
