Dusty Springfield was a bona fide DIVA. More than that… She was one of the best female singers Britain had ever brought to light. Her outstanding, legendary, haunting, soulful sound has inspired, influenced, impressed, awed a myriad of artists, including the likes of ADELE and AMY WINEHOUSE. A music icon, a beacon of excellence… never to be forgotten‼️
The 🌎 world OWES YOU so much, Mary Catherine Isobel Bernadette O’Brien, a.k.a. Dusty Springfield‼️ 💜🌎💚
May you Rest In Peace, LADY DUSTY (1939 - 1999)… 🌹

1966: I'm 14 years old, passing through puberty, getting interested in girls but very shy. Then I heard Dusty singing You Don't Have To say You Love me on the radio. Wow - I was totally awestruck and in love! The first 45 I ever bought.
1981: I'm 29 years old, married (still am to the same lovely girl), and starting to go deaf. I still listen to Dusty singing this, but not as often as I'd like to.
1999: 47 years old. I'm hard of hearing now, but when I heard of Dusty's death I went searching for my beloved 45. It's gone as has a lot of my music collection because of my deafness.
2006: 54 years old and very hard of hearing. I find a book and 4 CD collection named "Simply ... Dusty". I buy it like a shot. The old magic is still there, although the volume I need to listen to it properly gives me a headache. I listen to it as often as I can.
2020: 68 years old and hearing loss is severe. I stumble across this in You tube. I'm normally very dodgy about trying to listen to 40 year old clips - the quality is usually so poor and the volume so low it's impossible for me to understand. I give it a go anyway - and suddenly I'm back in 1966 - all the old magic is still there! I'll love you forever Dusty :-)

I sang it in a bar in Hong Kong, Wang Chai district! My Navy pals were in attendance back in 1970, stationed on the aircraft carrier Ranger. I sang it for one Monika Tse, a great dancer. But I'd have traded that dance for one with you, Dusty Springfield!
