I have the same exact one bud. My wife and I were scrambling last minute for Hurricane Matthew here in Florida. Sure enuff we had to run it 4 days for that storm. It's been sitting in my shed ever since, bone dry. Well I pulled it out and filled it for hurricane Milton a couple days ago and sure enuff we lost power yesterday. Fired right up ! Praise the Lord. I did spray a shot of starting fluid before attempting to start it however. Not sure if I needed it or not. But we've been blessed to buy this Jenny for sure. It's ran my freezer, coffee maker, fan, lights and charging my solar generator all at the sand time with not much surge at all. Ya got a good one buddy. Best of luck and may God continue to richly bless you.
@@irietropicals4255 right on ! Has it been good to you ? I'm fixin to change the oil now. I'm sure it's due. Just don't know if I should drain the tank. It's treated fuel but Lord willin I don't need to run it again for a storm anyhow. And I'm def not draining the tank until we're clear out of hurricane season for sure.
Just found this exact generator in the trash. I put some gas in it and it fired right up! 😂 now I got a generator for this upcoming storm! Thanks to Jesus Christ my savior
Got one just like it. Bought it for Y2K and had a premie baby so we didn't want to be without power. Still use it, got us thru an ice storm, power out for 7 days.
Just ran mine for 7 days straight, virtually nonstop. It has a low oil shut off that tends to start making it sputter when the oil is nowhere near low. Ended up having to add 0.2 quarts every 24 hours of running. Powered a 12k BTU air conditioner rated at 10 amps and about 5-7 amps of other various household items via extension cords. Not ideal but it got us through Helene.
Cup of fresh coffee ,,Farpoint Farms ,, waiting on the Jeep to warmup ,, heading out with my daughter and best friend to go squirrel hunting . That’s a good morning 🇺🇸
Wow, didn't think anybody was still using one of these except me, bought mine new back in '05 and it still gets the job done when needed...made sure to change the oil when using it, so when I took it out the shed last year to start it after 5 years of sitting, I cleaned the carb and it ran like new with full power.
Glad to hear it. My understanding it the previous owner of this one bought it and used it for a season or two then upgraded to a whole house standby system. They kept it in the garage for ages before I found it at the yard sale. It appears almost like new!
@@FarpointFarms I've been looking to upgrade to some newer, prettier model myself, but can't justify the money when this one is still working...Good luck with it!
I have this same generator but having trouble with it it won’t start and if it does doesn’t stay running change the spark plug but do I think that’s the issue I had gas sitting in it over months didn’t know you had to let the gas out didn’t think about the carb brought starter fluid but won’t stay running
I have the same generator. Got it from my son which he got it for free. He gave it to me was not running. I changed the oil plug clean carburetor just started it. I have oil coming out of my carburetor started good. Started blowing white smoke. Cut it off oil dripping out the carburetor
I have owned that same generator in the past. it is a good unit but good luck trying to start it when it is freezing cold out. I sold mine and went with an electric start.
You may know this by now but the gt5250 has no support connections between generator end and frame. I have older 5250 and it never had bushings or bolts under gen. end. I too was given a non running 5250 likely 10 or more years older than your unit. New carb at around 60 bucks fixed it, been good ever since long as you close gas valve and run unit to shut down.
Greetings. The reason it is lighter is because it has a brushless alternator. I have the “Sears Branded” one that’s the identical setup with the same engine and alternator. It’s branded “Companion” but is the same equipment, specs, etc. Do you like the unit and do you still have it? These were manufactured by some company known as DeVILBISS.
Thats not a missing bushing the bushing is in the middle on that end I'm guessing for flex when it's running . And the gas tank is recalled on this unit if it cracks where tank mounts you can still get a free replacement
Greetings from Boston. Beautiful, chilly morning here in Boston, MA. Me, the dog (my Aussie, Bogey) and the Mirage are enjoying an early morning drive and then errands. Been thinking about a generator for the house. Although I'm handy (I installed fog lamps on my Mirage after your video), this video gives me ideas that it doesn't have to be new - what kind of output and gas tank size. Hope all is well with you and the family.
I have an ag -tronic 5000 watt generator model no 5250.000 with an 11 hp briggs and stratton engine.I have some questions regarding this unit such as parts availability etc..i would appreciate if you can share some advice thanks
I could have rigged up some wheels or made a cart too. I had found the actual kit with the handles and wheels and installed on mine. The kit might be hard to find now days. If so I'd just get my own wheels an set up my own handles.

I am glad to hear that it was able to start for sitting so long. Having coffee is a great way to brighten the day.
Glad you are OK

I am not sure the cost, but finding one in the trash means it was meant for you

We were using the inverter generator I made a video on not too long ago. It was perfect for what we needed. Lucky here was not to hot or cold

Used to love a weekend of Squirrel hunting and camping in my youth. Enjoy!

sounds like it is overfilled with oil. Can you drain and fill it to the correct amount?
Looks like a good quality generator.Enjoy your day Eric, David.
It really seems to have hardly any run time on it. We'll see how it holds up.

You can add electric start to this unit

Yup. Figured that one out! Mine is still working well these many years later.

I ended up selling it to a friend who had theirs stolen. We have a smaller one that will work for us.

Who do you contact for a replacement tank?

the rubber bushing is not missing that is how they are made there is one in the middle I thought the same thing

How is this thing as far as keeping a consistent RPM??
Mine has no issues, but it's been well maintained.
It's 5250 running watts, 6500 starting watts. Says this on the front panel.
You're going to be surprised at how long that 5 gallon tank doesn't last. Store plenty of gas.
3-4 hours ?

I think its great you found that and fixed it rather than it getting thrown out. you gave ou a second life!
btw, did u change the fuel line?
Its not staying on. I change
Caborator and the plug . It will start but dont keep up
Can you check for compression and that fuel is flowing freely
Do you know how to clean one?
What do you mean by clean one? Like warm soapy water or cleaning the carburetor?
Does anyone have the owners manual for this one ? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.
I installed some wheels on mine!..

Actually Tecumseh didn't go out of business. They just quit producing gas combustion engines.
Does anybody have any ideas?
see previous reply to your question
We have 2 of them at work and both of them is missing the rubber bushing I think they came that way I would not worry about it
Mine didn't have the bushing either.
Mine either
Nice
