Very unfair comments, it's about the (great imho) sound and not about100% accuracy of playing :( To me this demo was excellent in showing what this VST can sound like!
By far the best virtual classic analog polysynth ever. No audible digital artifacts - very powerful, fat, authentic, gorgeous and inspiring!
Man, the 80s had some great tunes!
This video was already gonna be great, but when you whipped out "The Camera Eye" by Rush...that did it. You nailed it.
I was playing this video and as you finished playing Jump, Jump started playing on the radio.
***** And "zdt" to you, too.
Illuminati confirmed! /_\
God knows when his music is played so he knew when to cue the song
One of the very best sounding vst's ever made. Thanks so much.
2:43 is Gary Numan's "Cars".
3:02 is the theme from Beverley Hills Cop.
8:11 is an Abba number.
12:22 is Barclay James Harvest "Waiting on the Borderline".
14:41 is Pink Floyd "Signs of Life".
AKA "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer
TBH there are so many recognisable sounds here that anyone from the 80's should be able to name about 20! Howard Jones, Madonna, Toto... no prizes for spotting the obvious!
The best virtual analog Classic synth emulation I’ve ever heard! My easiest spent on a vst. 🔥🔥🔥
this plug-in is bloody awesome
The Queen stuff hit me right in the feels
Got it! Simply fantastic 80's sounds!
Now available in 64bit Windows VST2/3 aswell as 64bit MAC AUX!!!!
***** Hey thanks, man! Always happy to program them patches!
Dude your killing it! Sounds are spot on and the playing is fantastic
absolutely perfect thanks man... people on the comments want everything in time - what the hell is wrong with people, you're showing the sound not an audition!! one thing though - could you recreate the lead synth on "corey hart - sunglasses at night"??
You can, I have a patch for it. I will look for it and throw up the link later. Trick with it is echoing the note with a ping pong style delay. I even pretty much nailed the prechorus sounds.
I'd say those sounds are between 93 and 100% spot on 👌👍
Love the Queen songs.
Good job playing! I'm just getting into keyboards I'm a guitarist, bassist and drummer who just got a lifetime deal on a Yamaha HX1 COMPLETE system including the 24 pedal foot controller, 2nd expression pedal "very rare", bench, ALL paperwork, manuals, etc and MDR disk recorder and all cables and even the original plexiglas music stand that mounts to the top of the unit. Learning how to play has been very easy for me thankfully as Ive played guitar for 39 years. I hope to be this good someday! A video doesn't truly show ones talent anyway
It's awesome that you can determine sound quality of pro audio gear from a youtube vid.
Simply awesome!
Man ! I want that Muse Research Receptor 2 Komplete !! 🌟😎
Ok.. I'm seriously Impressed!! Seriously Excellent Demo!!!! 👍
Don't listen to that dude who was talking shit about your tempo. You are super fantastic dude!
If I could have only one vst for 80s sounds, this is it. My best purchase 👌
Thank you for the demo!! Love it!
Yep, you nailed them all. I need to get one of these.
you have all my respect...just what i was looking at for years...Thank you!!
That was BEYOND awesome!!!!!!
The camera eye definitely kicks ass ..
very good job, thank you
Considering some of those riffs were done with other synths like Minimoog(Rush), JP8(Journey)etc,it does a great job of emulating various synths-not just the Oberheim. As an owner of the OP-X as well as OB8, Xa, SEM Pro & many others-I love it !You've done an amazing job here- it's certainly as good a quality as Arturia!..In a mix tweaked & EQ'd, I honestly do not think one could tell the difference in the OP-X or the Obie..of course you won't quite have the thrill of twisting knobs tho.... ;)
Oh man!!! This is epic, just one omission..... Go West
Very very impressive. Thanks so much. I might just go out and buy this!
Absolutely brill demo!
Very entertaining! And I only knew about a third of the songs!
totally amazing!! thank you for this.
Just thinking of getting soundstage on Mac, this will be my first buy, simply awesome sounds, I need it 😂😂
Just waiting to get paid to buy this plug-in!! I haven't heard a single patch that wasn't spot-on!
Beautiful!
It's a relief not having to look at Apple and Microsoft designed UI's.
2:43 Gary Numan - Cars / 3:02 Haroly Faltermeyer - Axel F
I notice you're changing the different patches via the unit sitting just behind the keyboard. What hardware do you use to house the VST plugins?
That is called a Receptor
Love it. I don't know if anyone noticed but all the patches sound the same. Sort of a Semi 2D flatness. It's all the same tonality.
Nope. They sound quite different.
trop la classe
After looking you operate the unit, I realize it is a Receptor 2. I have the VIP Receptor. I just submitted a question to Sonicprojects, asking if OP-X Pro II is compatible with the VIP Receptor and I'm guessing it is.
Holy crap this is soooo amazing
sounds great.
This is a very good option not too many people seem to take. Look at it that way, you don't have to deal with Microsoft or Apple do everything-and-some-music-to OS, you just have dedicated Linux OS for your music only. Why nobody thought about this before? Loving it, thanks for posting. Also great selection of music, I am not much of an ABBA fan, but the little snipped from Lucky Man was fantastic, and the Madonna riffs from Holiday, wonderful stuff!!!
Sounds great
Holy shit 1:20 Rush - Camera eye is absolutely spot on!
The best part of it is listening to the artists you listed in sequence. Did you arrange all those patches in that order?
Part of me was disappointed when you played Toto and didn’t include the synthesized thumb piano sound.
Thank you SO much for including the intro to my all-time favorite ABBA song, “Eagle”!
Is there one that includes you playing music composed for The Warriors by Barry de Vorzon?
Add some release and reverb to those patches. Especially Subdivisions
Thks ! I found the one in FAMOUS BANK....I will go on the forum for sur !! thks a lot !
Hi, can you tell me if the B3/C3 organ that made up the sound for Styx-Blue Collar Man is included? So many banks :) Still looking around.
Thanks!
the camera eye patch or w/e the song is at 1:20 gave me chills. HOLY SHIT.
THE MADONNA STUFF IS GOOOOOOD
I could name most of the tunes from the opening notes/chords. Sounds like it nails those sounds. Now I want to buy it :(
Sounds great!
aaaaaaaaaaah I spotted Emerson Lake and Palmer " Lucky Man" great job
Was any EUROPE - FInal COuntdown played in this video?? Id watch but i need to get to work D:
The little difference is 4000 USD. lol
Excellent demo there!
the real kit sounds better. ha. the real kit has more depth and gut in it.
And when someone makes an 8 track mix with bass, drums, guitars, other synths you still hear the big difference concerning the VST OP-X synth thinking "What a great song, shame that he uses a VST OP-X and not the real thing". lol
(Assuming that a person uses real a real guitar and other cheaper hardware hardware synths)
My ponit is that it's almost impossible to hear a difference in a real good mix with other instruments.
*****
speak for yourself. haha. and the masses eat at McDonald's, too. my ponit is that it all works together. If you use VST's for everything, it can get generic, a common disease with project studios. Oh yah it sounds great - and has no personality.
edit: If you're not careful you'll have about as much dimension as "Owl City." sound great!
Yes, I speak for myself but I have a feeling that OP-X owners (or vintage synth owners) forget to mention how their synth sounds in a freaking MIX. I have excellent hearing so I can hear small nuances, yes, but I seldom care about the synth itself. I would admit that one have to use some hardware synth for sonic bandwith, I myself don't like pure VST songs BUT nowadays it's really hard to tell the difference between hardware and VST. Some vintage synth owners may even be disappointed that the VST technology come close to their precious instruments, lol. But I just speak for myself, even I like good hardware synths, I have a couple of them.
Yea and McDonalds is the most successful restaurant in history and the richest!
What the hell? The Moving Pictures stuff is so on point it’s ridiculous... how did you get The Camera Eye to sound exactly like the record?
Magnificent!!
What effect do you use for the themes of Duran Duran that I love
Holy Shit, those voices are dead on!
Abba - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
I actually appreciate this demo. So what if his playing isn't perfect. Some people do not have time to sit around and learn songs note for note, they just want to play and have fun. I wish that someone would team up with sonic projects and build an all in one 61 key unit that looks like an OBXa. I have this program and it really does sound awesome but I am not a midi guy.
saving my pennies for this awesome thing ... really awesome in the correct sense of the word !!!
got a JD-XA and an ultranova instead ...and a volca keys and an electribe ...for less money
and a sub to reaper
dont get me wrong ... for artistic creation its great ...the issue is this ..
most sounds have been over created in superfluous platforms by people thinking to make money or fame or whatever
some fluid sounds are only possible by tweaking paramaters with appropriate dials / sliders in real time...
having said that ...you can now assign wavetable brackets to a cv or midi command and also you can now add envelopes to that so you can get a wavetable to play thru ...fading in and out ... and applying its values to amp / filters / pitch / dample playrate / ,..basically anything you want
@1980sCoverband
Yep, Receptor supports Program Change messages.
awesome video man!!!
at 13:06 - Echoes and shadows. You're great!!!
Amazing.
Very nice!
Do all these sounds come as pre-sets or do you have to tweek stock sounds to come up with these sounds? These samples sound amazing! Great work!
Olá Floydianos! 14:41 Signs of Life
One of my turns: 13:28. "On the run" quase lá em seguida
....apart from timing issues that was excellent.
@JCmusic85: I guess you have one of the previous models and not the newest OP-X PRO-II which has built in effects
the part from 13:28 is great! always wondered what kind of sound / synth they used on that song of The Wall. Thanks!!
"the wall" album used a Prophet-5, not an OBX.
hmm.. hard to tell, source?
Richard Hanno many sources. Do some research.
James Reeno I did, but its hard to tell, as the equipment changed over time
I wish they still made the X-Board
Amazing!
How much does the OP and Receptor cost if all I want to do is play this one synth?I know its less money and headache than the real deal.I probably don't need the latest receptor right? This blows my mind and Ive owned an OBX-A for over 20+ years
Awesome patches, hooks, and memories there, but can somebody please tell me what the song is at 10:50 ?
I got most of the other songs, but I'm sure I've heard that one, and just can't place it. lol
EDIT: Nevermind - somebody else already said, it's Barclay James Harvest - Victims of Circumstance. :)
so basically the receptor replaces the computer to run the OPX-II synth on?
No need to drag a laptop on stage anymore then..love your OPX synth, I've followed it for quite some time.
Wow!! I have the plug in and I love it. But how are you using this piece of hardware to control it? or what is that piece of hardware? Great work amigo!
Oh nevermind i read the thing. lol
All right and thanks for this precision!! could you tell me if the plug in is free or not? I m 'very interesting with those 80's sounds that seems to be so close as the original ones!!
Thx!
very nice
You forgot the DEVO... Time out for Fun! Thx
P.S, love the Jean MIchel Jahre :)
In the early 80s that banda "PHD" made that song "I wont let you down!" would be possible to reproduce the tones in OPX?
Amazing sound bank !!! I will buy OP-X Pro II today....Could u tell what is the black thing u are using and switching channel on??? and could it be possible to know what preset u used for Rush songs demo...and others if possible ???? thks for sharing this vid
Well not perfect some said, improvement can be done.... but not bad at all, not bad remembering that long serie ! This gear will sounds really cool for most, what ? After some drinks... definitively like this opx
Love all of these sounds, especially the Duran Duran Sound at 05:34 - great job!
0:04 just sounds like it.
It's funny because although the OB-X is all over Flash Gordon, as well as The Game (though to a lesser extent), the two Queen songs you played were from The Works, and the synths on that album were primarily the Jupiter 8 and the DX7, not the OB-X. In fact, I'm fairly sure that the "I Want To Break Free" solo was a Jupiter 8.
agogobell28 yes and that J8 is for sale now, Mountain Studios on Reverb
I always thought that solo was played on a guitar through effects :-o
Is this also possible with the SM Pro Audio V-Machine? If yes, it would a cheaper alternative to get all these wonderful and famous sounds.
excellent!
What keyboard is that ? Does it have 15 knobs ? I presume is a usb-midi that can be patched, right ?
super!!!perfect!!!!!!!!
Excellent !! :)
Hi 'VirtualOberheim', I noticed you are playing like 3 different parts individually from a song(Madonna, Duran Duran, etc.). Do you setup the midi channels thru the Receptor for each part & match to the controller? I guess what I am trying to say is the 1st, 2nd & 3rd part are on like channel 4 & have the controller to receive on 4 also? If that's the case, how do you do the set points for each part?
01:40 thought, Mortal Kombat Conquest soundtrack.
What rush song was that at 1:22?
the camera eye from 'moving pictures' album
Outstanding VST and terrific playing skills. What is the name of the song you playing on 12:22 great intro?
0tapir0 bad timing.
