You want ranks, 18 is a 6 front by 3 deep (combat results). They have also okayed the use of rank filling dioramas to add in your tray. You can build a shrine on a 60 x 60 base and take 4 spaces of your formation up so 16 models can be a block of 20. Thise boxes are ridiculously well priced for GW standards, especially now that GW apparently overdid their second printrun. You can pick up the box new starting from 160€ ish and about 140-150€ for unbuilt ones on the secondary market. Sell the core book, the ruler, the dice and the templates for 50€ and you get half an army for 100 ish €. The cherry on top might be a Trebuchet, but the one from GW is too expensive for what it is, but you get really good printed alternative models for about 20€. If you build unit fillers you can pump up your infantry rather easily with Bretonnians. With the Burning Braziers you can easily replace two sets of 1x4 Archers, so 8 in total and then I took two 50x75 Bases and replaced 12 Men-at-arms (one was temporary field grave for a fallen knight the other was a small supply cache (Meat, Wine, barrels, crates, weapons, ammo and a banner). So I was able to build 32 Archers and 48 men-at-arms (in two units of 24) from the core box alone. With a few bits, a little bit of green stuff and somewhat decent painting skills, you can kitbash almost every type of character on horse from the KOTR on horse kit as well. With basic crafting skills, a small bit collection and a lot of creativity, Bretonnians, in my experience, are one of the cheapest and most satisfying armies to build in TOW.

GW blitzed the Old World and replaced it entirely with Age of Sigmar about 6 years ago - now they have relaunched The Old World with some of the original races/factions
people saying it is expensive failto realize that (least by old standards for WHFB) these boxes are literal armies in a box. but those who say these are expensive gladly pay CP or equivalent for AOS entry level, and get like 12 or so models for 1/2-2/3 the cost of these. yep. more money, for less plastic fine. more money (at first glance) up front = too expensive. in AUD (Australia) the box is broken down as around a free rulebook, a $120 character (pegasus) a large unit of knights ($35 each or $70 est for all) five units broken down into pilgrim/archers around $250. or $50 per box (around similar at time they were squatted). this leaves the rest of the templates, the mini non army book, the dice, and such to cost around the remainder, so around 30-50$. compare to AOS and 40k: prices are (akin) to older entry points to WHFB. possibly about up to 25% (to cover inflation etc) more expensive. but old sculpts a turn off for some, and such, it is actually cheaper by model per dollar, than other games GW produces. and this is to overcome the hesitation some may have moving on this game. This was always going to be a foot in the water, I doubt there will be a lot of new kits in "this" edition. Should the sales go as well as they seem to do, there might be a second edition in a few years, but before that I highly doubt youll see a lot of new stuff. But that is also part of the success of the system, this isnt a product for AOS players and the like.
I think they did the "Upgrade" to larger base size is to be able to have redone model sthat are a bit bigger down the road if Old world takes off. Also it allows you to use 25mm circle bases and place them on movement trays with a holder in it to use your converted AoS models in old world rank and file. which is kind of neat. IMO its almost not worth using the square bases for anything that converts to AoS so you can still use for either game. I'm kind of excited about this and might get back to work on my vampire counts army (yes I know they wont have official rules) that was converted from elves. as well as I will start a high elf army when they release, as well as eventually get some dark elves again, which was my first army in Fantasy battles.

From what I can tell this is Games Workshop’s way of getting rid of unsold model stores from 2003.
You don’t need movement trays for 6 cavalry dudes. Just move the minis
So u think they are going to release more is this is it? After this box they will never talk about old world anymore
Wel, well, well guess that prediction was a bit off XD
Where Painting tutorial?
I haven't had chance to do it yet 🤣
@@ThePaintingCoach Like everyone it seems 🤣 Noone did Bretonnia everyone did Khemri.
I have started filming 👍🏻
Micheal Perry miniatures are the best 🙌 not computer generated.
GW must be laughing.
Old models at new prices
And sold out on their website with very little stock going out ti third party retailers
Can you show us your NDA?
Of course it is, you got it for free
I have noticed a fair few people who are "influencers" and play 40k have jumped on the band wagon of the old world probably just to get free stuff.
sure, if we ignore a LOT of these so called influencersas you called them, also do(n't) appear at events from time to time and since they happen to have a community built of their own, it is easy and cheap marketing/advertising via word of mouth so giving a box away or a dozen, really is far from getting on a bandwagon. @@spartangoonie
@@spartangoonie I see your comment alongside the original comment and I have so many questions about your position. Is the criticism that it’s not specifically 40K content? Or that he got it for free? If he got 40K models for free, would you be critical of that as well? Why the quotes around the word Influencer? Is there a difference between an Influencer and an “Influencer”? If so, what is the difference? Regarding Old World specifically, is it that you lack interest in the game/ models/ setting, or you wish that less content revolved around GW’s model release cycle? Regarding free stuff, do you dislike the idea of gifts in general, to the point where you would reject a free copy of the Old World starter boxes out of hand? Or is it more you suspect an unspoken quid pro quo in cases of a review copy?
So lame the box sets don’t come with movement trays
Great video. There is no way these 20yr old figures are worth modern prices
Considering that they sold out of the online allocation of pre-orders by 1100 in the morning, I am going to say - yes.
That has more to do with GW not making nearly enough going by all the angry people who couldn’t get any
Simple answer.
Yes
👍👍
So was it worth it?
For me yes - I would have bought one if GW hadn't sent it to me
doesn't matter if it's worth it if you cant buy any
Worth it? No. When has anything GW been "worth it"?
Short answer.... No absolutely not
Because price or how old the minis are or both ?
I disagree with your assessment.
@@legiox217 because it is GW, so f them. I can get the old minis cheaper.
@@legiox217 Both for me, I was interested in Fantasy because of Total War, not nostalgia. So I am only interested in new models, especially as GW thinks Models older than some players, are worth the price of their already excessively priced new 40k models. Hope the Fantasy Battles guys get what they want out of this, but I think this game is really for them and not new people.
@JanitorScruffy im an old fantasy player, loved that total war has kept the love going. But for models older than myself with the price tags with them. Just flat out nope. Not worth it. You can buy 3d printed models for half the price
f no! None of this garbage is worth it. GW have put zero effort into revisiting this horrid game and its archaic models... the prices are absolutely insane and i hope it fails real hard.
