- In this video I explain how I am able to live on a low food budget by using 3 money-saving strategies. They are a vital part of my journey to become more self reliant and economically independent living in an off-grid tiny house in the forest.

Hardest part is finding land where you are allowed to do it.
I hear ya. Can't get a mailing address assigned to my land since I don't have a county approved dwelling. Grateful to have neighbors that don't mind me using theirs.
I live in a similar way... grow most of my own food in my food forest, and have chickens. I Dehydrate food and make preserves etc. I have like minded friends and we often swap and share our produce. We also help each other, for instance I cook some meals for a friend and she provides me with wood for the winter and helps me around the garden in the warmer months. 😊
Love that!! Sharing or gift economy - binding human relations together👌😊
@@janetbransdon3742 Lucky, Lucky Lady Jane. I'm slightly jealous but sooooo pleased for you 😀
You my friend have found heaven on earth.
the way of living you are leading is exactly how i want to live in coming years. sunrise and sunset. a tiny house. off-grid. rain-fed. animals running round. a self-sufficient garden. and to be in and with nature, the most importantly. thanks for the inspiration and sharing.
Me as well. I am ready for all the hard work it will entail. Just need to keep saving the $ for it. I am in the US, need to find the land first. I love what he is doing.
Coming years?
There are no more COMING YEARS... when it comes to PREPAREDNESS & being already ESTABLISHED.
We'll be fortunate if we can still prepare up to June 2025
@@EnhancedSimplicity Well said.
You might want to hurry up with that. It takes time to get everything in place, and with the world going crazy right now you don't want to leave it too late.
@@theclumsyprepper I've been since 2020 (beginning with vanlife)... since 2022 I've gotten myself two & a half acres of Raw, Agricultural Zoned land... & it REALLY takes ALOT to get situated & Fully Established... I'm not COMPLETELY where I want to be yet... but everyday I'm working on it... just finishing up my 1st starter greenhouse & small storage shed.
I have 360 watts of solar power, woodburning stove & 12 volt refrigerator
Watching your video is like a breath of fresh air!
Thanks☺️
I am so inspired by the way you are living. It's the epitome of contentment. Most people like to chase power and overconsumption. They are being slaves of their jobs. It shouldn't be that way. Kudos to you for living the life you truly want.
Thanks a lot😊❤️
You are so inspiring! I currently live in an apartment, but have a 200sqm allotment garden where I try to follow permaculture principles. The number one thing that was a game changer for me was when I planted marigolds in my garden. They attracted so many pollinators that I saw an immediate increase in the yield of my crops. I only bought the marigold seeds once, and then I've save seeds.
Just one word for what you do: BEAUTIFUL!
I wish you all the best!
Thanks☺️
Thank you for showing your garden. You gave me some great ideas!😊
Lovely! My mouth was watering for that venison stew! You have got it right! Mankind is far too disconnected from nature! If we could only reconnect!
Green plants like salad keep you healthy and your should eat it every day. But it is expensive, gets faded so quickly and there is always plastic around it. But you can find wild hearbs everywhere and plant sage and lavender for the winter months for your dayly green.
Watching all the hard work you do everyday around your home has been oddly motivating. Instead of delaying & being crabby about doing my household chores; I watch one of your videos and snap, I get up and do one. Geddity up!
🎉 🎉🎉 Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan! Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Your videos are very inspiring thank you for them.keep up the fantastic work
Thanks!😊
@@andersboisentinyhouse your welcome ❤️
It is my goal to be self sufficient and live a more simple life. Here in America, it is not so simple, especially with rising costs. You are an inspiration to people like me who do not have a lot of resource to yet live their dream.
Thanks, kind of you to say! I read that the US inflation is slowly cooling again, so I cross my fingers for easier times for you guys! Anyways, I think it is always a good idea to prepare for harder times the best way you can by living more simply and more self sufficiently😊
@@andersboisentinyhouse Oh I hope that it does get easier! Otherwise, having a simple life in a cabin sounds quite ideal in times like this lol. I like that even in times of uncertainty, a self sustainable life will go on and you have that stability.
Smart way means of survival.. nice.. watching from glecious tv your new friend
I love the organization ❤
You have done just great in adapting the off grid concept. Many of us would embrace this concept, but taking the first step is really hard, or shall I say a matter of priorities. Thanks for these videos. ❤
That meal looked good.
19:10 great peaceful way to live stress free. But, not for everyone. I love how you can still eat well. That looks delicious 🤤 . Love the tiny home.
I love the way you live and you give people inspiration to live as you do. There is quite a learning curve to live your way, but it is so healthy and wonderful for the environment.
Thank you so much! That was also what I hoped for🤞😊
What a nice way to live. Best of luck to you.
Wao I love your ways. Keep it up.
inspired to be sure, and we live in the woods in a tiny cabin as well and grow a lot of our own food as well, I have preserved venison and more
I love your dog❤
Such a beautiful video! Thank you!
Tak Anders - kan mærke dine videoer kommer fra et godt sted inde i dig og det smitter bare hver gang
Liked, subscribed, thank you for another amazing video. Thank you for taking us on your journey.
Great video! You said the word on my mind as I watched; very inspired now to up my game and grow more of my veg. Man, food, happy dog and the beautiful countryside. And that soothing music 🎶
Thank you so much!!😊
I like your permaculture garden, something that I am starting to learn more about. Perennial edibles are indeed a better choice. May I suggest that you also invest in a good cookware like stainless steel as those painted cookware are toxic and leach lead and other chemicals into your food. 😊 All the best to you!
Thanks for the advice! The pan is stainless steel but the rest could need an update yes😊
Make your self plant based milk, easy fast and cheaper than buying from shop. Grain or nuts are easy to store. Keepping bees is very easy too and dont need much efford. Here in finland you can rent your land to bee keeppers and they bring as many beehives as you agreed and take care of them. Dunno if thats option there in denmark
Inspirational! You encapsulate what I am looking for. I have offgrid plans of my own that I will maybe share soon. You have shown me the way, thank you 😊 🙏
You’re welcome!
@Andreas, I am Danish living in Brussels. I Wonder if you could explain how you are allowed to live so amazingly with stringent rules of housing/build/location in Denmark. I bought a premade house in Romania as I don’t have the skills and want to move it and myself to Denmark. Could you write or make a video on the Danish society rules on Tiny Houses and how to live in compliance with it…You live in a way so many of us don’t even dare to dream about, escape the rat race. I like to come a rent your B&B this Summer when in DK to have a chat with you could you link it. Love your videos! Kind Regards Leo.
Hi Leo! Thanks😊Yes, I will will a vid about rules at a later point👌
And yes, we have strict rules and your th should at least live up to the standards for summer houses (I live in a summer house-zone, but not for half of the winter because of the rules). You are very welcome. You can find the Cabin on Airbnb here

I really needed to see the outdoors and this was so relaxing . thanks for sharing.
I'm glad to hear that - thanks!
Thanks for another great video! Your channel is so relaxing and inspiring. The meal you made over the fire looked delicious!
Yeah, Thanks! It was really really delicious too😋
Another lovely video!
I used to luv camping when I was in the Girl Scouts as a teen. This reminds me of a simpler time.
Thank you for the videos, Anders!
I can’t move to either Norway or Denmark right now, but maybe some day.
Jane
Thanks Jane! I cross my fingers for you then😊🤞
lovely
i was going to suggest fishing because i noticed in ur other videos that u eat mostly greens. I'm glad to see that you've found a good fishing spot, can trade deer meat, and can forage blue clams too! those will surely add a lot more variety to your diet. you can also try taking ideas from LiziQi's channel. like you, she also lives self-sustainably. she produces her own flour and oil and honey and soy sauce and grape wine. she has videos on how she preserves her meat & fruits & vegetables. she also makes veggie dumplings and crawfish cooked in tomato sauce. you can also try planting corn and sweet potatoes, those are really good for late afternoon snacks.
Eat the nettles that grow near the place where you fish. If I could start again I would but a dehydrator.
Birdy
Why not get a dehydrator now?
So inspiring, thank you for the video.
I live in a city apt - wish I could do it like you but its not possible ; but as a city dweller I try and recycle as much as I can. Small things - like a piece glad wrap plastic can washed and dried and reused many times for preserving food ; coffee filters can be reused ; I home compost all my organic waste and grow some potted herbs and plants. I use the sun that streams into my large apartment windows to dry clothes - to dry food and preserve it. I make soap and use cleaning vinegar for cleaning I mention all this because its the same underlying ethos that you have I think.
How we all want to live!
Beautiful video. Beautiful setting. Love the simple life.. Thank you for sharing...
You’re welcome!😊
The perfect way of life.
AWESOME VIDEO
Absolutely loved this!
Great
I wanted to watch this. Im deaf. No closed caption. Wherever you are its beautiful.
Thanks! UA-cam is working on making the subtitles ready I think! When it is I don’t know😅
@@andersboisentinyhouseyou have to add it on the subtitles page when you post the video. UA-cam doesn’t automatically add it for you unfortunately 😕
i really enjoy your Videos. Did u ever thought about to built a Pond? Good for the Wildlife, and also for Pollinators. Ponds are a important Part in Perma Culture. Better two or three. Greetings

Wonderful ideas
So peaceful❤
Amazing..new subscriber from Bangladesh..
Great video! I like how you are very methodical in your thinking and the way you do things. I also like the small budget mentality which is humble. This is very inviting to many people who like me think this lifestyle is impossible. I often think it is impossible for one person to do all of this but obviously you have shown it’s not. I admire the couples and families who do this but I am single and an old woman so seeing this is hopeful as well. It’s a nice change also to see someone so open to simple solutions. Subscribed.
Thank you so much for your kind words! And yes, it is indeed a lot to take on - but it is also very rewarding to be able to live like this :)
Hello Anders, great video! Could you tell me where you got the seed for the perennial broccoli? That sounds like an interesting addition to my food forest! Keep making such great content!
Thanks!! It was a side shoot that I got from a friend and then plantet in some soil! But I guess you can order the seeds online?😊
Purple sprouting broccoli is a good alternative if you can't find the perennial variety. If you live in a moderate climate it will produce for 2-3 years.
I found brocoli on the Internet plus perennial cauliflower and onions.
Thank you, I'll have a look
This video is beautiful, it’s good to know that there are some people who can live the ideal life that I would live. Good for you 😊. Great video, loved it and subscribed 😊
So appreciate you watching and enjoying your simple life, I'm planning to do my off grid soon maybe you can visit me in the Philippines and have a wonderful time off grid..❤😊
Thought for sure you were going to speak southern with a slight twang. Your area looks so very much like Kentucky USA.
Such a pleasant & fulfilling video! ❤❤❤👌🏾👍🏾😊
Your channel just came up my UA-cam channel and I am in love with it. Gave it a thumbs up and subscribed. Now I’m watching your videos from the beginning. Hello from Texas. Wasn’t sure if you were from the Netherlands but I see you are from Denmark. Do you live there year round?
Thanks! I live there half the winter😊Living with familiy or girlfriend in the other half😊
Beans are usually more affordable if you buy it dried! Soak overnight, and cook well :)
Longer soak time with 3 changes of water really helps people that have trouble digesting
@@meman6964 we usually soak 12-18 hours, and let sprout. :) sprouting removes phytic acid & yes yes yes to rinsing multiple times!
Enjoy my favorite, black beans, but have tried everything but the rinsing several times. My beans turn out to crunchy and leaves my crockpot with black stains. For the energy usage for the crockpot, plus all of the lifting and rinsing of the beans, it is one of few foods I find way much easier to purchase the cans when on sale. That rinsing a lot of water in my drought prone state and carrying the water to my indoor plants and the outdoor plants, too difficult on my arthritis. Recently purchased a small food dehydrator which I was successful at the conditioning in jars for various foods, including the black beans. Want to use my off brand foodsaver to vacuum seal, then freezer as my apartment and fridge freezer small small. Some of the dehydrated beans to go in my camp or emergency evacuation bags. Like hikers, can snack or add water for a meal. Still on a learning curve with fruits and veggies. Some things easier to do and allow more storage along with
creativity for snacks, meal planning. Other experiments, just not for me. Some of the veggies I use a coffee grinder dedicated to powdering. Do not care for carrots or celery, but if it comes my way, I don't want to waste. Thankful I have saved over the years, baby food jars which end up excellent for powdering. Today, I pulled from the freezer a chicken stock soup, thawed that and added a spoonful of each of the carrots and celery I dehydrated about two months ago. No waste of foods. Live in an apartment, grateful for the internet as a granny for lots of useful information and getting to windowshop while I scrimp and save, hopefully to get a quick return on my REi, Return on Investment. Everything I learn, I am also making it a point to learn to do off grid. Kitchen appliances are often efficient and have multiuses. When I was a single mom, no internet and I do not think decent gadgets on the market for food preservation. Learning to bring veggies is next on the list. Have decided for several reasons, canning not for me.
I am inspired to cook outside. I bought myself a three legged pot for potjie kos years ago haven’t used it not once. Love the vlog
Thanks!
This is brilliant ❤
Great video as always. I'm curious though, do you have tick problems in your part of the world? Here in Nova Scotia, we don't dare sit in grass or walk the bush even in winter with 10 feet of snow due to ticks. It's very severe here. Nothing short of fire seems to kill them. Farmers used to burn their fields in the old days to get rid of ticks. Then till the land and start producing. Now due to all the fire dangers here, no one is allowed to burn land, so the tick population is out of control.

Yes really enjoyed this video and all your videos are well made please keep them coming..lol
Hello, Anders. Very nice video, it felt as if I was there too 💭
Awesome video
I just subscribe to your channel..the way you editing video is simple..very exciting to watch...

Tusind tak for den søde besked! Og velkommen til kanalen😊
Nice video! I assume winter cooking and eating looks much different?
What do you feed your dog?
Well not much - made a video about that too this winter. Same deer😊I feed him regular dog food. Sometimes deer with rice.
Just started to watch you on you tube very interesting from n.ireland 😊
Great! Love Ireland , been hiking there! - welcome to the channel!
You can't really use fishing in Denmark for saving money on food. Fishing rivers and lakes very often requires membership of a fishing association that are expensive.
👋😊🇦🇺❤️thanks for sharing your story with us ❤
You’re welcome!😊
Truly inspired❤
Is there enough sun light in the woods for gardening? Are you satisfied with the results, or do you sometimes thing, it had been better, to do that at the beginning of the wood, also the place where your house is?
How do you keep the wild animals away from your garden 🤔? Do you encounter lots of predators?
With the plant based milk, you could even make it yourself and save a little more waste from producing 🤔 how do u handle the trash that's not recyclable? It looks like a forest. Does the trash collectors drive up there or do u have to bring it somewhere?
I was thinking - If one wouldnt have energy issues a dehydrater would be great to preserve the veggies u harvest in summer for winter, too. But again, the clutter would probably bother me when not used taking up space in a limited space. Maybe one can rent such device 🤔
How do you preserve your jams and juices? Do you do a water bath?
Hej från Sverige! Lever efter lite liknande principer, fast just nu kämpar jag mest med sniglar och vildsvin.
Looks awesome, ...how did you store your deer?
Thanks!! At my family’s freezer … untill I get my own😊👌
Good i want too be part of it
You can make a stand for the stove with a shed and a chimney. its more hygienic and you don't have to bend that much.
Thanks, great idea!
Rodents will get the get the tetra packs if you don't protect them. Sugar and salt should also be put into safe containers.
