Fun fact about the horus heresy trailer you watched last: It's not for any video game or show, but for the tabletop game! The fact that such a cinematic masterpiece was made just for a game where you paint little plastic men to put on a table and fight by rolling dice tells you how loved this hobby is. Not just that, the horus heresy also has an attached novel series that spans more than 60 books just to give you a story behind the plastic pieces you move around in the tabletop.
@@barbell_bull the first three books are largely regarded as not just the best out of the horus heresy series, but among the best warhammer books in general (another crazy fact, the horus heresy novel series is only a chunk of warhammer media, there's a bunch of other books about other factions and races than this!) If you wanna start with the horus heresy, the first three books are: - Horus Rising - False Gods - Galaxy in Flames The books are a great read but I also recommend the audiobook versions if you can get them. The way the characters are brought to life and the story narrated in the audiobooks truly are epic.
Always love seeing new people get into Warhammer. For some more context: there are technically two separate Warhammer universes. Warhammer 40,000 is the futuristic scifi one, and Warhammer Fantasy was the medieval fantasy sort of D&D-esque one. The trailers from 11:00 to 29:00 are for games set in the old Warhammer Fantasy universe, which has now been replaced with something called Age of Sigmar - both are separate to 40k in any case. The Dawn of War trailers up to 11:00 are for 40k, as is the Horus Heresy trailer at the end. Though the Horus Heresy is a "prequel" to 40k where half of the Emperor's space marines turned traitor, sided with the Chaos Gods and tried to overthrow the Emperor's rule. Horus (the guy speaking in the trailer) was the Emperor's favorite son who fell to Chaos and ended up dueling his dad to the death on his spaceship in orbit over Earth. The Emperor killed Horus but Horus mortally wounded the Emperor and he was installed on the Golden Throne (basically a giant life support machine in his throne room) to keep him alive. That was 10,000 years ago and the very strong implication is that he has died and his citizens are worshipping a corpse in a chair as their god.
This is absolutely fascinating to me. The stories behind these have so much depth to them. THANK YOU very much for taking the time to comment on this. I love stuff like this. I hope the games live up to the stories and lore behind the cinematics!?
@@barbell_bull There are a ton of absolutely incredible 40k games out there. The universe is packed to the brim with character and lore and interesting stuff to discover. 40k is like the mother of all nerdy rabbit holes to get into. If you want some more game cinematics to react to I recommend Battlefleet Gothic Armada 1 and 2, it's a space combat game set in 40k but it has a campaign that tells the story of the battle for Cadia, which was a major recent event in 40k lore.
It is truly mind blowing that this company and these devs have created such a massive, wild universe for so many years with so many different stories to get into. I will definitely write those Battlefleet games down for the next reaction video! I really can't thank you enough for taking the time to check out the channel and leaving comments like these. 9:03 a scalp of Eldar Banshee aspect warrior (obviously slain by the orks). We are in the GRIM AND DARK universe: "In the darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Madness look to the madman to show the way."
10:16 Why is he smiling? "Only Death Will End Your Service" If you have to die, rejoice when you meet a dignified death. And there is no better death than that in the Emperor's service. Welcome to Warhammer 40k
Love it! These devs have so much depth in these cinematics. I hope the games are as good as the videos. As of now Necromunda is the only one I've played so far and I'm absolutely hooked
The Dreadnought grabbing the Eldar and simply, in a cold robotic tone, and so matter-of-factly stating "I have come to destroy you." after which incinerating the Eldar is the best stuff ever. That line only gets better if you know the lore behind Dreadnoughts and understand the state of their mental being.

@barbell_bull quality concerns. No one wants to pull a CD Project red, and GamesWorkshop is very protective of their IP. SM1 did very very well, theyre not gonna try and fuck up SM2. The fan backlash wouldn't be good.
Man they let the guys who made dow3 trailer down so bad. That was one of the best warhammer cinematics in history especially the sound/music was so *chefs kiss*
@@barbell_bull for someone who loved the past 2 DOWs, it was terrible. it tried to be a moba clone while also including elements from the previous games and did it really poorly. I would recommend just sticking with the DOW 1 and 2, just forget DOW 3 was a thing.
Getting into Warhammer/40k was possibly the best unintentional decision I made all year. I freaking LOVE hearing the stories, getting the comments from other players that are into these games. Love every bit of it.

Aaah me having a tear in my eyes when i seee the old WArhammer Online and Warhammer Age of Reckoning cinematics... Those where ther stuff. Warhammer online was based off the Fantasy branch of the Brand (the scyfy one being WH 40.000), and it was a huge Open world MMORPG with Realm Vs Realm PvP and PvE. Its a shame that it din't get the support it needed by EA, cause the guys at Mythic Entertainement did a stellar job with the world, the lore and the factions of the Warhammer world. But lack of support, technical issues and server lags and a lack of real endgame months after the game's launch, saw the population dip drastucly to the point where EA just din't want to continue... Its a darn real shame...
Unfortunately EA has a special way of helping ruin games. It's a shame I missed out on these games for so long. I wish I had found Warhammer long long ago!
