Please don’t think we will get disappointed. Some people will watch these videos before moving to Seoul and find it really useful. @dawnlemieux8225 thank you so much! It's a really peaceful neighbourhood for sure, so definitely check it out and go for a stroll if you want to get away from the busy Seoul life. Montreal is one of my favourite cities too! Can't wait to go there again someday! All the best and take care eh!
Congrats on reaching 10k! Big milestone. Came across your channel from your 10 years in Korea video and been watching ever since. Wish you guys more success in the future
I enjoy walking the cafe street beside the stream more than the path along the stream itself, especially in the autumn. I don't associate it with Canada, as I've never been there, but I definitely get the "not Korea" vibe you describe. That draws me to it. And as you go from west to east beneath Gangnam-daero, the cafes and restaurants just keep going all the way to the area near Maebong Station.
@MikeFromKorea the path by the cafe street was really nice and peaceful for sure! Reminds me a lot of some of the pathways along the West coast near Incheon. Will have to check out more towards Maebong Station as well, as it appears there's a mountain to hike up there that looks pretty cool!

Because of the river, the Yangjae Citizens Forest is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms IMO! And it's not as busy as some of the other locations. It also has some memorials to historical events, like the department store collapse, and an air disaster. The mall type areas around that costco are often eerily deserted so my experiences in Yangjae have been similar to yours: where are the people!??! :D
@jennybento ah thanks so much for the tip! Will have to check it out during the spring, as we have never been before. Also I completely forgot that the department store collapse was around 양재. That condemned apartment building @2:35 actually seemed pretty spacious inside. Just two small buildings with a courtyard in the middle. Looks intimate. I think it would have been cool to live there if it was still livable.
@blackbelt2000 it's a pretty nice building eh! They don't make those types of apartments in Korea very often these days. They are all cookie cutter high rise apartments that almost look dystopian haha! Would definitely have been cool to live there!

Hey... not every random neighbourhood can be an exciting home run... But if you're looking for mellowness and serenity this fits the bill quite nicely! I'd live there.
That's true Alex! Definitely a part of the randomness, although I keep waiting for us to get one of the subway lines in Incheon or down in Yongin, but we keep getting a line from #1-9 in Seoul for some reason haha. The neighbourhood is really nice too! It's also so close to the Express Bus Terminal to go across the country easily, so the people that live there are lucky! Hope all is well and thanks again for watching!

Gangnam seems to fascinate Koreans. To me, it feels like a slightly cleaner version of every other area of Seoul, with possibly fewer annoyances and bad smells. My office is at Samsung station, and when I drive home at night, I open my car windows and catch the aroma of good food while I drive down Gangnam dae-ro. By contrast, my town in the evenings largely smells like fried chicken and pizza.
This is a very good observation @marcellostraps! Also agree with you about Gangnam. Definitely a lot of great restaurants around the area, and you can also end up paying a lot more for a 삼겹살 or 감자탕 meal that you could find elsewhere for cheaper.
