My perspective on this is: that how we go about allowing Christ into our hearts is to not think of it in terms of Him knocking on our door because "He wants mastery-and lordship-over every aspect of our lives" But instead, us knocking on His door because we’ve decided peace, love, and mercy, are valuable and are worth living by. The former statement phrases it as compromising our life to a domineering force. While the latter statement puts the choice in our hands, and provides a motive-a reason why. We Look out for what’s in our best interest better than we obey for the sake of obeying.

Robert Barron claims that Adam and Eve are not real people. He called them “theological poetry.” “If anyone does not confess that the first man, Adam, when he had transgressed the commandment of God in Paradise, immediately lost his holiness and justice wherein he had been constituted; and that he incurred, through the offence of that prevarication, the wrath and indignation of God, and consequently, death, with which God had previously threatened him, and, together with death, captivity under his power who thenceforth had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil, and that the entire Adam, through that offence of prevarication, was changed, in body and soul, for the worse; let him be anathema.” - The Council of Trent on Original Sin

@@lufhopespeacefully2037 OK, thanks for your polite response. I would love to do everything in my power to convert you to Catholicism (not the current Vatican II version, which contradicts nearly 2,000 years of Catholic teaching), but, I won't try to twist your arm (unless you are enlightened by it - if so, I would be happy to give you some pointers). Anyway, as Catholics, we are to believe in one God, three persons. Thus, the Trinity. Sounds complicated, but we believe that each of the three persons is divine and as a trio, they also are divine (the same divinity - each individual's divinity does not surpass the whole and the whole doesn't surpass each individual's divinity). As far as the ancient Egyptians go, we, as Catholics believe (and know from historical accounts) that whatever they believed were from pagan gods. Yes, Jesus and the Holy Ghost aren't mentioned specifically until the New Testament (of the Bible), but we are to believe that like God the Father, they always existed. Jesus was begotten of the Father and the Holy Ghost proceeded from the Father and the Son. For example ... "And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever." - Genesis 3:22 This obviously took place shortly after the creation account where Adam and Eve put the rest of mankind into the state of original sin. Notice how God said "become one of us." I think it's safe to say that He was referring to the other members of the Trinity. Here's another example in the New Testament ... "Jesus said to them: 'Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.'" - John 8:58 Even though Christ was born as a child and God/man of the Virgin Mary several millenniums after Adam and Eve, His presence as God (not man) had always existed. Anyway, that's how I get my theology. Again, I fear your religion of Islam is leading you in a horribly wrong direction, but I don't want to cause a stir. Just like Adam and Eve, we all have free will (for better or worse). I won't violate that Thank you again for being professional and I would be happy to continue this conversation if you're willing.

Barron claims that the universe is an “icon of God.” Scripture, St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas reject the idea that the universe is an image of God. “Whether the image of God is to be found in irrational creatures? Objection 1. It would seem that the image of God is to be found in irrational creatures … [St. Thomas Aquinas answers] On the contrary, Augustine says (Gen. ad lit. vi 12): Man’s excellence consists in the fact that God made him to His own image by giving him an intellectual soul, which raises him above the beasts of the field. Therefore, things without intellect are not made to God’s image.” - St. Thomas Aquinas, The Summa Theologica, Question 83, Article 2, Part 1

I share your cross. I took it to a willful end and it cost me for years. The wonderful thing is that God stayed with me through the wages of my sin. The wound was not taken, I endured it, but He never left me.

Barron claims we are reborn of water in baptism and reborn of the Holy Ghost in the other sacraments. That’s false. We are reborn of water and the Holy Ghost in baptism. The water, the Spirit and the redeeming blood are not separable. “... It is He, Jesus Christ, who has come through water and blood, not in water only, but water and blood. And because the Spirit is truth, it is the Spirit who testifies. For there are three who give testimony - Spirit and water and blood. And the three are one (1 John 5:4-8). In other words, the Spirit of sanctification and the blood of redemption and the water of baptism. These three are one and remain indivisible. None of them is separable from its link with the others.” - Pope St. Leo the Great, dogmatic letter to Flavian, Council of Chalcedon, 451 The Council of Trent claimed that John 3:5 is dogmatic: “Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” “If anyone saith, that true and natural water is not of necessity for baptism, and, on that account, wrests to some sort of metaphor, those words of our Lord Jesus Christ; Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, let him be anathema.” - The Council of Trent, Session Seven, On Baptism, Canon II

I think this is hardly the place to "challenge" a bishop to support a political stance. I suppose this is an example of the negative influence of social media thinking we all have a voice that must be heard - kind of like me posting this!
Not everything that God wills to give you is 'desirable' or sought after. We must learn to love his wounds, to embrace the crosses he gives us. Which is so difficult, but that ugliness that so often repels others is most beautiful to him when we bring such sacrifices to our Eucharistic union.

Thank you for your intellectual comments on the liturgy. Do you agree with Bishop Corleone’s denying Pelosi communion?
Please, @Bishop Barron. As a young man who has for you a great consideration, I ask you to support Bishop Corleone in his proclamation of the Catholic doctrine on the Eucharist. That’s a tough one: As I am aging, I tend more towards the side of a Christian practice proportional to my health versus my health willfully consented to Christ’s Lordship as an integral part of that practice and its deeper intention. Yet, I know in faith of no safer Lordship to entrust my health to. I pray Mary, whom I trust implicitly, to help me totally surrender to God’s will not as a passive passenger but an active contributor. Levis Shalom
One of the best thing about the word "Dominus" in this discussion is the fact that in Latin, this word derives from the position of the Master as Lord of his "Domus"-his own house. A dominus in your metaphorical house VERY MUCH BELONGS THERE. Whereas κὐριος essentially denotes the one who has supremacy, there's an intimacy to a dominus that's very attractive in certain aspects of Christ's lordship.
These words were addressed to a church, not a nonbeliever. Peter proclaimed at Pentecost “ Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the Holy Spirit”.
I am always astonished at how USA is blessed with such eloquent pastors, yet the country keeps resisting God. what a pity! if only every other archdiocese had clergy who could analyse Church teachings this well!

Well said, sir. Bravo.

I love listening to Bishop Barron, he revives in me my thirst to bring souls to Jesus
Thanks very much Bishop Robert. May Christ be fully enthroned and Lord in my life🙏🏽
I'm blessed with the bishop's relentless educative teachings
I don't know why but I love the image of Jesus knocking on your door and welcoming Him inside your home to sit physically with you and be there

Thank you for putting Liturgy of the Hours on UA-cam!
Wow, I am speechless. You know, Bishop Barron, when I listen to you, I see Christ. I hear Christ. I experience Christ. Funny, but I equate you with Christ. Thank you for being a very powerful prophet of Christ. You make me fall in love with you, that is, in Christ. Keep it up, I am always tracking you. God bless and keep you always!
I agree ,Johnathan’ s portrayal of Jesus is of warmth ,, love, tenderness, compassionate, and humour. Wonderful human traits. I’d love to sit and have a beer with him ( Him). Very important to see His sense of humour. I was raised to fear Him , the guilt…. Imagine. As an adult I love Him , run to Him , have no fear of Him whatsoever. Thank you Brandon for your immense contribution to WOF. Bishop Barron, deep appreciation and prayers always for you.

Robert Barron claims that Adam and Eve are not real people. He called them “theological poetry.”
“If anyone does not confess that the first man, Adam, when he had transgressed the commandment of God in Paradise, immediately lost his holiness and justice wherein he had been constituted; and that he incurred, through the offence of that prevarication, the wrath and indignation of God, and consequently, death, with which God had previously threatened him, and, together with death, captivity under his power who thenceforth had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil, and that the entire Adam, through that offence of prevarication, was changed, in body and soul, for the worse; let him be anathema.”

"And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever."
- Genesis 3:22
This obviously took place shortly after the creation account where Adam and Eve put the rest of mankind into the state of original sin. Notice how God said "become one of us." I think it's safe to say that He was referring to the other members of the Trinity.
Here's another example in the New Testament ...
"Jesus said to them: 'Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.'"
- John 8:58
Even though Christ was born as a child and God/man of the Virgin Mary several millenniums after Adam and Eve, His presence as God (not man) had always existed. Anyway, that's how I get my theology.
Again, I fear your religion of Islam is leading you in a horribly wrong direction, but I don't want to cause a stir. Just like Adam and Eve, we all have free will (for better or worse). I won't violate that
Thank you again for being professional and I would be happy to continue this conversation if you're willing.

why doesn't trinity is written in bible
Barron claims that the universe is an “icon of God.” Scripture, St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas reject the idea that the universe is an image of God.
“Whether the image of God is to be found in irrational creatures? Objection 1. It would seem that the image of God is to be found in irrational creatures … [St. Thomas Aquinas answers] On the contrary, Augustine says (Gen. ad lit. vi 12): Man’s excellence consists in the fact that God made him to His own image by giving him an intellectual soul, which raises him above the beasts of the field. Therefore, things without intellect are not made to God’s image.”
- St. Thomas Aquinas, The Summa Theologica, Question 83, Article 2, Part 1
Always learn something from the Bishop.

Barron was convinced of hell being empty by Origen of Alexandria, whose position was condemned by the Church, a Protestant theologian, Karl Barth, and a theologian, Hans Urs von Balthasar.

A prayer by St. Niklaus of Flüe, the Swiss national saint:
My Lord and my God, take away from me everything that keeps me from you.
My Lord and my God, give me everything that leads me to you.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful image from C.S. Lewis. My house is being knocked about right now and I have come to trust what the Lord is working in my life.
“Thus, while the rule of chastity is the same for all Christians at all times, the rule of propriety changes. A girl in the Pacific islands wearing hardly any clothes and a Victorian lady completely covered in clothes might be equally ‘modest,’ proper, or decent, according to the standards of their own societies …”
- C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity, page 94
"In like manner women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire, but as it becometh women professing godliness, with good works."
1 Timothy 2:9-10
Sadly, a LOT of us are inside that house all tied up by the devil who won't let us open the door or even hear Him knocking! That door needs a handle on the OUTSIDE so he can come in a set us FREE from our evil captor by tearing down all his strongholds! Break the door down and RESCUE us! PLEASE!
As someone who is willful by nature I have to constantly remind myself of the line, "Your will be done." I tried it my way for many years and it got me nowhere. I sometimes wonder if I am doing enough but the main thing is I keep plugging away, doing my best to do what is right. Thanks for the message. The world would be such a better if we all took. "Your will be done." to heart.
I share your cross. I took it to a willful end and it cost me for years. The wonderful thing is that God stayed with me through the wages of my sin. It was more of a "Now you understand why I told you not to put your hand on the stove, here, give me you wound, it needs a bit more salve." The wound was not taken, I endured it, but He never left me.

Please pray for me and my children. I choose to think positively, but sometimes my situation is overwhelming. I’m a single mother with two beautiful sons, both of my children are autistic so with them being special needs they keep me very busy. My husband died three years ago. I’m all alone. I lost my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my pre existing health conditions (Lupus) and (heart disease) I was denied my religious/medical exemptions. from Forsyth hospital. Already it’s a new month bills are due again. Gas and food prices are sky rocketing. Each month I’m in fear of losing my apartment. It’s so embarrassing not being able to provide for my children like I use too. I’m so discouraged by situation. I’ve been mocked and laughed even accused of lying because I post comments asking for prayers. It hurts. I’m already so depressed over my situation. My circumstances hasn’t been easy for me or the boys. Even as we face the fear of homelessness every month! I will stay faithful to Jesus and to my Heavenly Father. Our Father is faithful. Thank you Jesus.

I have been taking notes, Bishop Barron. Thanks for the gift of learning Latin and what these words mean, AND how to use them in a sentence!
None of them is separable from its link with the others.”
- Pope St. Leo the Great, dogmatic letter to Flavian, Council of Chalcedon, 451
The Council of Trent claimed that John 3:5 is dogmatic: “Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
“If anyone saith, that true and natural water is not of necessity for baptism, and, on that account, wrests to some sort of metaphor, those words of our Lord Jesus Christ; Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, let him be anathema.”
- The Council of Trent, Session Seven, On Baptism, Canon II
I was lucky enough to view William Holman Hunt's oil painting referenced early in this video. It's an incredibly striking piece. Hunt was clearly inspired when he made it.

Holy Thursday, April 14, 2022 Jesus the Creator of the sun the moon and the stars, washed my feet. He also died on the cross for me. After He rose from the dead He would not leave me here alone. He comes to me personally every week in the Eucharist, giving me His Body and His Blood and encounter Him one on one. He just can't leave me alone. And I cried so much that time He was washing my feet. He made the sun the moon and the stars yet He knelt down to wash my feet....and gave me His everything.
I think of Gandalf in “the Hobbit,” who represents the invasion of grace into Bilbo’s life. He brings in a party to Bilbo’s house which frustrates him to no end because he wants nothing to do with adventures. He wanted to keep Gandalf at the door but Gandalf wasn’t having it 😂

I think this is hardly the place to "challenge" a bishop to support a political stance. I suppose this is an example of the negative influence of social media thinking we all have a voice that must be heard - kind of like me posting this!
Love the Bishop, Brandon - very much less so.

I must ask the important question; what is your perspective on our professed Catholic leaders, Biden, Pelosi, Durbin, openly codifying abortion and being able to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, without denouncing this very mortal sin. Do you agree with Bishop Corleone’s denying Pelosi communion?
Thank you Bishop Barron and Brandon 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
Please, @Bishop Barron. As a young man who has for you a great consideration, I ask you to support Bishop Corleone in his proclamation of the Catholic doctrine on the Eucharist. You are a public online figure that can have a decisive role on this "Holy War" for orthodoxy and the lives of innocent children.
Whatever decision you make, you can count with my prayers.
This Bishop is awesome.
I love Bishop Barron's video's but I confess that when I saw the title, I immediately thought of the famous line from "Breaking Bad" LOL.

Aquinas said that my soul is not me. The great English Catholic philosopher, Elizabeth Anscombe, doubted that there was such a thing as the self.
Not everything that God wills to give you is 'desirable' or sought after. We must learn to love his wounds, to embrace the crosses he gives us. Which is so difficult, but that ugliness that so often repels others is most beautiful to him when we bring such sacrifices to our Eucharistic union.
So that we may say, Lord, I give all of this to you and you give all of yourself to me.
Would you please pray for me bishop so that God kicks the door down instead of knocking. I want Him to dominate my life. I want Him to be my strength and my courage. Without Him I am too weak and too much of a coward. Please 🙏
real me -- Yes there must be a real person ("essence" in the philosophical sense ) that God knows as perfected in His Love -- that is formed in collaboration of our being attuned to God. There are just too many difficulties with language to grasp this mystery, without falling into power analogies that are simply mistaken . I love the dialogue between you both and "most" of the discussion, but I am grateful that eventually it is made clear that it is the power of Love, God's Love for us that is the essence of this discussion.

Our actual physical bodies can't be 'temples of the Holy Spirit' if the Holy Spirit doesn't dwell there in His fullness.
That's fine. Jesus says here that... It is okay.

Hi.
What is the source of that image of Christ used in the thumbnail??
What is your stance against Nancy Pelosi taking Eucharist
Spiritual practice cannot be understood as " harmful" at all.
I must be perfectly honest here, we as laity did a pretty crappy job. C’mon everyone let’s get back to work and clean up the house.
We didn’t bring God into the secular order very well and the people who hate the Church made it very difficult now to bring Him there. I lost two jobs for living Catholicism at work just basic stuff of the faith. How can we encourage people to help change the secular culture if there is a very real risk of losing one’s job for doing it? I was yelled at by other Catholics for losing jobs for Catholic ideals. They told me I was supposed to compromise my beliefs to get along. These people really believe they are supposed to compromise faith to keep their jobs. What can be done bishop?
Anything " dirty" will make us sick.
I was thinking about that... Read the mass. How is the name of Christ used??
1) Why do Gnostics use God as a science project? Thomas Paine etc etc.
2) How can someone prevent themselves from being contraceptive if they have an incursion of health?
3) How can the health field better improve through trauma that is going on with the world in the event of today?
