Hey there, could you possibly make a video showing how a low, medium and high density hairline looks like? In one of your early videos, you mention that you often get guys in complaining that they can see their scalp through their hair, but after a close examination by you guys, you can conclude that their density is well within normal range.

    hi
am a regular viewer of the show and thanks for the content that helps many
don’t know if my question fits here. but asking anyway and will appreciate a short feedback.
a few days ago i met a hair restoration surgeon for consultancy as i am thinking of HT this year. he looked at my donor area and said that my donor area is weak and needs to improve till the time of HT.
so he prescribed minoxidil to the donor area and fenasterid oral for 6 months. plus biotin. i am using minoxidil on scalp(not donor area) already since years. and since 2 months fenasterid and also biotin for over an year at least.
my problem is only, i didn’t understand the logic of minoxidil on donor area for the purpose of transplant. i mean as we know, the hair that comes with minoxidil is not the hair that will stay if you stop minoxidil.
would you be kind enough to either answer the question or make a short or something because i gues this is the situation relevent for many others.
    thanks in advance

@@TheHairLossShowI have been taking topical minoxidil daily for around 7 to 8 years but now the greasiness of scalp and on some hair coupled with a few pimples/spots sometimes on scalp is enough. So want to switch to oral minoxidil. I have never suffered any sides on minoxidil regarding fatigue, cardiac or breathing problems. Ive had numerous fbc blood tests over the years always come back in the good to normal ranges as told to me by my gp but my gp refuses to prescribe me oral minoxidil and advises me to keep applying topical minoxidil but the greasiness and a few pimples are irritatting now so I would like to know what amount should i start oral minoxidil on? 1.25mg, 2.5mg or just like the topical minoxidil of 5mg x once daily? Fearing that if I start too low on 1.25mg I might start losing hairs instead so would it be wiser to start on 2.5mg for say 2 weeks and see if I get any sides and if not then jump onto the same 5mg x once daily tablet? Pls reply and your advice, experience and opinions are most welcome. TIA

Hi guys, thanks for the show and the great content. I have a question about my treatment post hair transplant (5 months ago in the UK). I'm currently taking oral minoxidil and minoxidil spray, but no finasteride. I'm seeing decent results so far but I'm told the main results will be seen 6-12 months from my op. My question is, can I continue only taking these 2x treatments or will I start to lose and damage my new transplanted hair? (i.e without taking the oral finasteride). If this is the case, what would you suggest long term as someone who would rather not use finasteride? The reason being is I know two people who had negative reactions using the drug so I'm looking at my best options without taking it. I'm not against taking it, but I'm interested to know whether it's possible to continue my treatment without touching it at all. Thank you! Oliver from the UK.

I am on month 7 and so far I have noticed longer eyebrow hairs and just in the last couple of weeks, I have noticed longer eyelashes and peach fuzz types hairs on my shoulders/upper back. I am going to try it for a year. So far not noticing any improvement on the back of my scalp which has been thin for 15 years. Perhaps I started too late.

in respect to electrolysis, I wouldn't say it is "inefficient", but rather that it is time consuming (and can be quite painful). As a matter of fact, electrolysis is much more efficient than laser, as it is truly permanent removal for all, rather than "semi-permanent for some" that laser is.

Hi guys, there's a question I have about Oral Minoxidil. I've been researching it online but the information is scarce. Do you believe that taking it once a day is enough or should the dose be split? For example, is 2.5mg in the morning or 1.25mg in the morning and evening better? I ask as I've read how a dose of oral minox peaks at 2-4hrs and then slowly declines and becomes basically null at 12hrs. Of course we aren't taking it for blood pressure so this isn't dangerous but will those 12hrs without the med in the blood affect your hair or is the med simply strong enough as a daily dose? Thank you in advance.

Hi there, first of all, thanks alot for all the good content. I have a few questions since im really struggling. Ive been taking finasteride for like 2 years now and still experience some shedding. I quite recently upped the dose from 3 times a week to 4 times. Now im experiencing like a lot of hairs falling out. I counted them when i rubbed my hairs and atleast 50 dropped out. Im wondering what you would advice me. Is it normal to lose a lot of hairs if you up the dose? And do you think its still worth it if i still shed while being on finasteride? I was also thinking to switch to everyday, but i dont really know if i want to do that since it comes with more risks. Would it be more effective tho?
Thanks alot in advance and hopefully you can bless me with some advise. Have a nice day

You need to take it daily. My guess is that it wasn’t working because you aren’t taking it daily. It may be working now since you are taking more and light shredding is expected in the beginning. I’ve been on 1mg of fin for 18 years. It works.
I get the 5mg because 1) ins pays for it, 2) If ins doesn’t pay for it, it’s about $20-30 for the entire year using GoodRx. Don’t take the full 5mg.. instead just bite off a quarter for about 1mg. (4 bites are about 1mg each with 1mg crumbling to waste). I started in my 30s when I noticed thinning and still have all my hair now in my 50s. I wish I would have started in my 20s so I could have kept my thick mane. But I still get compliments on my hair now. If they only knew my secret. Lol

I feel like hitting menopause the fin isn’t working any longer. Is .65 mg of minox going to cut it for me lol. I don’t want to take too little either. I'd been hesitating starting minoxidil because of fear of side effects, by my hair loss finally got bad enough I was desperate...well a few minutes after I applied it I felt extreme fatigue, which made me realize this was a very powerful and absorbable drug. Then I found reports of it affecting collagen production making you age faster...and possibly damaging collagen in joints, etc. I've decided it's not for me. It was triggering my anxiety too always having to watch that I never even scratched my head without washing my hands bc it would get on your fingers and you don't want it anywhere else on your body or on your food, having to be sure to clean your pillowcase every day so it doesn't get on your face, etc. I don't think I can live that way.

Most women who have more body and facial hair have it naturally in their genes just like some men are more hairy than others but they also have PCOS which makes any free testosterone in their body more available to work on skin and hair follicles because in this disease the SHBG is lowered which usually binds to the free testosterone making it less available. Spiro can block the androgens so is good to take in conjunction with Oral minoxidil - also is a diuretic so will reduce puffyness in face and ankles if that is problem on minoxidil. not so easy on paper... people that uses minoxidil for beard keep their hair after stopping, so any terminal hair that you get with oral minoxidil will stay after quitting the drug. and laser removal is just a reduction, it doesn't destroy the follicle forever andon face causes paradoxical growth

Will taking a low dose of oral minoxidil lower blood pressure?

    • @ryanmccarter9859
      @ryanmccarter9859 11 місяців тому

Doubtful. I have normal blood pressure, but take 20 mg (lowest dose) of telmisartan every day for insurance, as well as its other longevity benefits. I also take 12.5 mg tadalafil a couple of times a week (started as a hypertension drug) and 2.5 mg oral minoxidil every day. I've had zero blood pressure related side effects.

Are you blocking DHT? if not that’s why you’re doing wrong. Basically you’re going to gym (minoxidil) and not eating right and getting protein aka blocking DHT

Laser hair removal is not a solution for women since its efficiency is poor. FDA classifies laser as hair reduction and not hair removal. There is also a well known side effect that affects over 20% of men and women where laser hair removal stimulates unwanted hair growth on faces for women and on men’s arms and backs. Then the only permanent hair removal solution for them becomes Electrlysis which requires commitment and is expensive.

God damn you! I would much rather have excess body hair. I have been on oral minoxidi for 5 months and nothing. It's true that sometimes it does nothing to the patient. I'm going to up the dose to 5mg at month 6. It's the worst feeling when it doesn't change anything
