Hey there, could you possibly make a video showing how a low, medium and high density hairline looks like? In one of your early videos, you mention that you often get guys in complaining that they can see their scalp through their hair, but after a close examination by you guys, you can conclude that their density is well within normal range.
hi
am a regular viewer of the show and thanks for the content that helps many
don’t know if my question fits here. but asking anyway and will appreciate a short feedback.
a few days ago i met a hair restoration surgeon for consultancy as i am thinking of HT this year. he looked at my donor area and said that my donor area is weak and needs to improve till the time of HT.
so he prescribed minoxidil to the donor area and fenasterid oral for 6 months. plus biotin. i am using minoxidil on scalp(not donor area) already since years. and since 2 months fenasterid and also biotin for over an year at least.
my problem is only, i didn’t understand the logic of minoxidil on donor area for the purpose of transplant. i mean as we know, the hair that comes with minoxidil is not the hair that will stay if you stop minoxidil.
would you be kind enough to either answer the question or make a short or something because i gues this is the situation relevent for many others.
thanks in advance
I'm more concerned about the potential side effects on the heart, please could you make a video about that?
I'm taking both finasteride and minoxidil. Great results with zero side effects, better than taking either one alone.
What's your dosage?

@@papagen00 Congrats! How long have you been on the mediciation? And did you work you way up to 2.5mg or did you start on that?

@@papagen00 how old are you?
What is an initial recommended dose for a woman prior to knowing how she responds to it?
Dear both, does this address bald patches especially from the forehead area in men. Will appreciate your reply. Thnx.
Love your show! One question, how uncomfortable would a strip procedure be for the first few days post surgery?
Don’t do it! I did and regret it. I had pain for about 6 months. Hard to sleep at times. Look for other solutions like derma rolling. Best of luck to you.
what if you want excess hair growth..I need a full beard!
Can you switch oral after 4 months for topical with no shedding? Thank you
I've been on oral minoxidil for just over a month and have noticed new hair growth on the underside of my right arm.

@@TheHairLossShowI have been taking topical minoxidil daily for around 7 to 8 years but now the greasiness of scalp and on some hair coupled with a few pimples/spots sometimes on scalp is enough. So want to switch to oral minoxidil. I have never suffered any sides on minoxidil regarding fatigue, cardiac or breathing problems. Ive had numerous fbc blood tests over the years always come back in the good to normal ranges as told to me by my gp but my gp refuses to prescribe me oral minoxidil and advises me to keep applying topical minoxidil but the greasiness and a few pimples are irritatting now so I would like to know what amount should i start oral minoxidil on? 1.25mg, 2.5mg or just like the topical minoxidil of 5mg x once daily? Fearing that if I start too low on 1.25mg I might start losing hairs instead so would it be wiser to start on 2.5mg for say 2 weeks and see if I get any sides and if not then jump onto the same 5mg x once daily tablet? Pls reply and your advice, experience and opinions are most welcome. TIA
Hi guys, thanks for the show and the great content. I have a question about my treatment post hair transplant (5 months ago in the UK). I'm currently taking oral minoxidil and minoxidil spray, but no finasteride. I'm seeing decent results so far but I'm told the main results will be seen 6-12 months from my op. My question is, can I continue only taking these 2x treatments or will I start to lose and damage my new transplanted hair? (i.e without taking the oral finasteride). If this is the case, what would you suggest long term as someone who would rather not use finasteride? The reason being is I know two people who had negative reactions using the drug so I'm looking at my best options without taking it. I'm not against taking it, but I'm interested to know whether it's possible to continue my treatment without touching it at all. Thank you! Oliver from the UK.
Finasteride n Minoxidil are 2 Differant medicines wd Differant Mechanism of Actions
Who did your transplant in the UK if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you for this video.
I know you talked about women using oral minoxidil but is it considered safe to use? My doctor said it can cause palpitations and fluid accumulation around the heart. Plus I take synthroid for my thyroid condition.
Thank you again.
i am on full thyroid repalcement, thats not relevant. just make sure you start on the lowest dose to test if you get sides
hello , where do get oral minox if i from another counrty ? Europe
I started on 1mg oral minoxidil a year ago and now on 2.5mg. I do have hairy arms and face now. I use Tretinoin on my face for pigmentation so can’t wax my face or use laser. So I try pluck the hairs I see on my face, I can’t get them all of course. But at least my hair on my head is growing after having chronic TE
how boost oral minoxidil if im non responder? Thanks
I use topical and I got hair growing around me forehead and eyes. Balding on head is completely gone after 2 months. Think I might go down to half dose.
Does a hair transplant damage hair follicles in recipient area because of making cuts in the scalp to place the 'new' Grafts?
Topical too, here xD I already have a lot of hair on my body, and Minoxidil let them grow even stronger than I had to suspend (ears, face, ecc)
Can i use minoxidil tablet as on Monday, Wednesday, Friday method?
Take it in the evenings NOT in the mornings. If you take it in the mornings you might feel really tired in the middle of your work day. I am on month 7 and so far I have noticed longer eyebrow hairs and just in the last couple of weeks, I have noticed longer eyelashes and peach fuzz types hairs on my shoulders/upper back. I am going to try it for a year. So far not noticing any improvement on the back of my scalp which has been thin for 15 years. Perhaps I started too late.
Are you wearing a Patek Calatrava?
Thank u for the information. What is your opinion regarding the claim that you should take a break of about 3 weeks, after every 3 months of using oral min and also after oral fin ? Is it necessary to take a break from time to time, using these pills?
Why?
@@The_Voice_of_Reason748
The doctor who said that, didn’t explain
in respect to electrolysis, I wouldn't say it is "inefficient", but rather that it is time consuming (and can be quite painful). As a matter of fact, electrolysis is much more efficient than laser, as it is truly permanent removal for all, rather than "semi-permanent for some" that laser is.
Suffering from success
I started using Minoxidil and hair is growing everywhere!! I suppose I was supposed to change the dose. I've decided to stop for now especially because of the hair growing on my face. I'm not a fan of waxing and can't imagine waxing my face. 😅
How does a woman transition dose-wise from topical to oral minoxidil without losing the hair that growth achieved with the topical? I’ve been on the topical for about 4 years, and would love to try the oral without going through a big shed.
Transition, same as a man does
Do oral minoxidil sides gradually wear off? How do you know it's affecting your heart (apart from keeling over?)
Hi guys, there's a question I have about Oral Minoxidil. I've been researching it online but the information is scarce. Do you believe that taking it once a day is enough or should the dose be split? For example, is 2.5mg in the morning or 1.25mg in the morning and evening better? I ask as I've read how a dose of oral minox peaks at 2-4hrs and then slowly declines and becomes basically null at 12hrs. Of course we aren't taking it for blood pressure so this isn't dangerous but will those 12hrs without the med in the blood affect your hair or is the med simply strong enough as a daily dose? Thank you in advance.
I have the same question bro do let me know if you find anything helpful
Once a day will work, but Splitting the won’t hurt
Hi there, first of all, thanks alot for all the good content. I have a few questions since im really struggling. Ive been taking finasteride for like 2 years now and still experience some shedding. I quite recently upped the dose from 3 times a week to 4 times. Now im experiencing like a lot of hairs falling out. I counted them when i rubbed my hairs and atleast 50 dropped out. Im wondering what you would advice me. Is it normal to lose a lot of hairs if you up the dose? And do you think its still worth it if i still shed while being on finasteride? I was also thinking to switch to everyday, but i dont really know if i want to do that since it comes with more risks. Would it be more effective tho?
Thanks alot in advance and hopefully you can bless me with some advise. Have a nice day
You need to take it daily. My guess is that it wasn’t working because you aren’t taking it daily. It may be working now since you are taking more and light shredding is expected in the beginning. I’ve been on 1mg of fin for 18 years. It works.
I get the 5mg because 1) ins pays for it, 2) If ins doesn’t pay for it, it’s about $20-30 for the entire year using GoodRx. Don’t take the full 5mg.. instead just bite off a quarter for about 1mg. (4 bites are about 1mg each with 1mg crumbling to waste). I started in my 30s when I noticed thinning and still have all my hair now in my 50s. I wish I would have started in my 20s so I could have kept my thick mane. But I still get compliments on my hair now. If they only knew my secret. Lol
Listen, I can't use Minoxidil with alcohol it dries out my scalp! Where can I get it without alcohol. I've looked all over!!!!!
Great idea using 1 mg instead of 5mg. I experienced weight gain:( and swelling on 5mg.
Thx❤
Hey Jacqueline, Did you end up lowering the dosage? Did you experience scalp hair shedding?
Been taking 5 mg of minoxidil for four months +1 mg of finasteride 3 to 5 times a week. No issues at all. Started minoxidil at 2.5 mg a day and after two weeks moved it up to 5 mg.
Nothing but hair growth
Hey your hair loss scale???
What is the half life of oral minoxidil
What about beard
My derm just called me a script in. He has me in as 1/4 of a 2.5 tablet. So like .65mg. Is that too low? I take finasteride now at 5 mg a day. It use to work. I feel like hitting menopause the fin isn’t working any longer. Is .65 mg of minox going to cut it for me lol. I don’t want to take too little either. I guess it’s diff than fin, so hopefully I see some changes. My testostronr from hormone replacement can go a little past the moderate level and I need fin for free test (DHT I guess)
Is 5mg minoxidil safe for the heart? I have been using oral minox for 17 days... Thank you
Hey have you got any results?
I’m taking 2.5 and undergoing laser removal due to increased unwanted body hair, but seems to not be working. And I don’t want to stop taking minoxidil. Would lowering the mg cause shedding? And body hair to decrease? Also, does minoxidil affect 5- alpha reductase like finasteride? Thank you!
No... Minoxidil will cause vasodilation and increase the blood flow to every part.. finasteride will do the job to reduce 5 alpha reductase enzymes.
The band is back together!! lol Good to see you guys!
I'm trying oral minoxidil. Had inconsistent results with the topical. Early on, in first months, I had great results.. About a year in, felt like super slow progress (if any).
Switched to oral, two months ago. 1.25mg twice a day (I'm male, by the way:) Felt some water retention but using dieuretics to take care of that.. Not noticing fainting spells or weird heart issues... Thankfully... Can't really tell, on progress, though. It's only been 6 weeks
Hello...any updates?

Please update on the progress.
@@smrfk pretty good. The water retention issues went away with the 1.25 twice a day regimen. Don't need diuretics anymore but still take a couple a week, just in case. No other side effects, except some increased hair but only slight . Way way less than I was afraid 😂.
The shedding was a bit scary. Thought maybe it wasn't working but the new growth was quick to follow. I stopped the minoxidil liquid about a month in. Noticed the new growth at 3 months . Lemme know if you have any more questions

Watching your videos from far away Israel, and enjoying it very much.
Thank you.
I have a question: I did as you recommended and combined finasteride oral and topical minoxidil, for ten months now, in the meantime I see amazing results. The minoxidil is a bit of a hassle for me (you can't get oral minoxidil here) can I stop the minoxidil and hope that finasteride will keep the existing results? If not, is there any significance to minoxidil once/twice a week?
Hey avi. I just started using finestride once in 2 days and topical minoxidil. Can u plz tell me when did u start seeing results? Cuz it's been 1 month and my head is almost empty now😢😢
@@AzlanGamingaz Minoxidil causes increased shedding in the first weeks. (this is actually a good sign)

As someone with excessive body hair to begin with, will I turn into sasquatch if I take finasteride and minoxidil? Despite being the "hairy" guy, Ive been experiencing male pattern baldness for a couple of years now. Also totally wrote this while watching, if this was discussed Im sorry.
The only way to know is experiment it yourself

What is the normal dose for a man? If I have no side effects can I take 10 mg instead of 5? Will I grow stronger hair?
2.5 is the standard dose, the max is usually 5mg
2.5 is adequate dose , maximum dose for hair growth is 5 mg .
Thanks you guys.
I'd been hesitating starting minoxidil because of fear of side effects, by my hair loss finally got bad enough I was desperate...well a few minutes after I applied it I felt extreme fatigue, which made me realize this was a very powerful and absorbable drug. Then I found reports of it affecting collagen production making you age faster...and possibly damaging collagen in joints, etc. I've decided it's not for me. It was triggering my anxiety too always having to watch that I never even scratched my head without washing my hands bc it would get on your fingers and you don't want it anywhere else on your body or on your food, having to be sure to clean your pillowcase every day so it doesn't get on your face, etc. I don't think I can live that way.
I am taking 2,5 mg oral minoxidil but the doctor prescribed 5mg. I do see it has effect with 2,5mg. Is it really necesary to take 5mg? Can i stop using it for a week sometimes? Thanks in advance!
Same with finasteride, minoxidil works in small doses and the proper dose really depends on how your body reacts. If you are getting the results you want at 2.5mg, I don’t see any reason to go higher.
Hi so I'm 25 years old and I had a hair transplant last year with very good results. I am currently taking finasteride 3 times a week as recommended by you both which seems to have halted my hair loss, I'm also using a laser cap 3 times a week to. If I continue with this routine will I be able to avoid losing more hair ?
Thats very good to halt hair loss. I would also recommend to go for one PRP session every 3 month.
Did you result like hair thickness or density increase after taking finasteride? And after how much time did you managed to see the actual results and any noticable side-effects so far?
Forget about the hair cap treatment, research shows it's no better than placebo.
@@jaredgarbo3679 Ultra low light laser therapy works but it depends on skin type.
Wd Suggest To Add Minoxidil Spray or Tab along wd Fin 1 Tab every 2nd day as both have Differant Actions wd regards to hair growth
The problem with waxing is that it’s not permanent.
Most women who have more body and facial hair have it naturally in their genes just like some men are more hairy than others but they also have PCOS which makes any free testosterone in their body more available to work on skin and hair follicles because in this disease the SHBG is lowered which usually binds to the free testosterone making it less available. Spiro can block the androgens so is good to take in conjunction with Oral minoxidil - also is a diuretic so will reduce puffyness in face and ankles if that is problem on minoxidil. You just need to make sure you don't it too much high potassium food or medication high in potassium
can you use both topical and oral at the same time?
Many people do
@@theemclane4037 there is no evidence to show this is any better than just oral
is excess body hair really even a thing, for most men these days?… for the women.. it might be bothersome..
What about us trans women? Im on anti androgens but have peach hair and fast growing body hair
I’m here for this as well. Wanting to know
not so easy on paper... people that uses minoxidil for beard keep their hair after stopping, so any terminal hair that you get with oral minoxidil will stay after quitting the drug. and laser removal is just a reduction, it doesn't destroy the follicle forever andon face causes paradoxical growth
Will taking a low dose of oral minoxidil lower blood pressure?
Doubtful. I have normal blood pressure, but take 20 mg (lowest dose) of telmisartan every day for insurance, as well as its other longevity benefits. I also take 12.5 mg tadalafil a couple of times a week (started as a hypertension drug) and 2.5 mg oral minoxidil every day. I've had zero blood pressure related side effects.
Does useage of topical minoxidilin causes ED ?
No

@@dragonballs4143agree. You need to be taking finasteride
Laser hair removal is not a solution for women since its efficiency is poor. FDA classifies laser as hair reduction and not hair removal. There is also a well known side effect that affects over 20% of men and women where laser hair removal stimulates unwanted hair growth on faces for women and on men’s arms and backs. Then the only permanent hair removal solution for them becomes Electrlysis which requires commitment and is expensive.
