So, I am truly honored to be featured by DRUMEO! Thank you for recognizing the Speed Bag as a unique rhythm instrument. I was a drummer way before I encountered the speed bag, and the attraction for me was the unique sound and beat patterns that are possible. When I create a teaching program for this (The Speed Bag Bible) i followed the path of the drummer, learning first simple to more complex Techniques (rudiments) with fists and elbows from all around the bag. In time and practice you can ingrain those movements and the "sound that make" to begin improvising them into all sorts of cadences and syncopated riffs. It doesn't matter where your hands are around the bag... you feel a beat pattern and you punch it. Punch Drumming IS REAL DRUMMMING and there is a huge contingent of very impressive speed baggers who are amazing punch drummers. I've waiting almost 40 years for the "Drum World" to finally recognized it...and Looks like Today is That Day! Thank You Drumeo! and thanks to the amazingly Talented Brian Tichy, for he was the first internationally touring drummer that called and said "I got to learn how to do that!" and he did. and he's done it in concert... I’m a mma fighter and a drummer and I always thought that certain drum rudiments can be applied as striking combos, for example a paradddidle in a heavy bag is brutal.

As a drummer, a violonist and a long life martial artist, these two musical instruments helped me lot, one to develop another defensive layer and unpredicatble kali/panantukan/wingchun combos (drums) and the other to improve my boxing and muay thai guard/long guard (violin). Really interesting how these overlap.

Ive been trying to say this, I started boxing before this video to improve drumming :D Music isn't something to only feel in the mind its an experience within the body :D The more physically fit you are the more chemicals your body can produce to feel the "spirit" of music.
