People always give negative thoughts about them. I don't really care of what Sony has made. They do something brilliant and that's what I really respect about them
It kinda looks like Sony mashed the Omnibalance and Ambient Flow design for the Xperia 1 and 5. The frames and the curves from Ambient Flow and the flatness and conservative design from Omnibalance
We all have a little Sony and Nokia within us mate.. I would jump ship of Sony can make a compelling device which ticks all the boxes for me. At the moment though, they are not under my radar. But I'm hopeful things will change for them.
I love the white colour, really reminds me of old Xperia. Love the size. Great display, honestly don't care that it's not 4k. Really hope battery life and camera performance will be good. Definitely buying it nevertheless.
Don't worry.. Xz2 has same battery with ips panel with 5.7 inch display that last a day easily(30hrs standby some days) and ~7hrs sot This will offer the same or more because of the oled panel

I use both a oneplus 6t and an xz3, and even though the xz3 has less capacity than the 6t, it still lasts longer than it.. They always have real good optimization
@loyal4 the way I love mine and it is a nice step up from the XZ PREMIUM. I still have the XZ Premium which I consider the most elegant, sturdy and beautifully crafted Sony phone IMO. I only like Xperia 1 because of the Sound/movie entertainment. I actually enjoy watching my movies through this phone over a 4K enabled TV. The dynamic vibration is my selling point. The battery life could have been vastly better but I'm a power user and with a quick charger and lead, getting enough juice in under 15 mins charge is a bonus. In short, I would dissuade anyone from getting one. It's good enough until an Xperia 3 or 4 has been released.

Just bought an Xperi xa2 plus for 240 dollars and gave my z4 and z5 compact to my gf. I'll buy an Xperia 5 when the price is 500 or less and use the xa2 plus as my backup. Looks great.
@@abdullahaydin4111 Hello. I tried it once on low (or medium) settings. It run smooth, woth some stutters here and there. The key is not to have case on it and to play it in moderately cool room (approx. 25°C) and ypu shpuld be fine. This is the way I play Asphalt 9. I hope this helps.
@@abdullahaydin4111 That is other possible solution. The thing is, SD 820 is 14 nm chip, which is quite big, compares today we have 10 or 7 nm semiconductors in modern chipsets. And the full blooded gaming phones really have tweeks like fans and liquid coolings.

@@dartvader60 The 21:9 4K HDR OLED screen is phenomenal... watching 4K content on it is great.. the triple camera system imo is very good, too.. in manual mode you can make incredible photo's.. I've played around with the cam and made some beautiful looking nightshot's... yeah there is no headphone jack but there is a very good DAC built in... I like this phone a lot.
Depsite the smaller battery than the 1, I actually do favour the 5 because of 1080p screen. Some people think it would be rubbish, but I reckon that 1080p is still a sweet spot for smartphone screen resolution. Plus, the camera placement of the 5 would make it an easy access for mobile lenses such as Sirui or Olloclip or Apexel, since they are about in the same placement as Huawei P30 Pro.
Definitely my next phone. Best phone this year, the Xperia 1 in a more compact body. Had a play with Xperia 10 ina store and Iiked the form factor very very much. Off now to examine those USB C headphones now (damn you Sony for ditching the 3.5mm!)
Former Windows Phone user here that switched to a Nokia 7.1 with its 18:9 display. Same here, I liked the Xperia 10 but since I just needed a more affordable phone for now the Nokia was a great option. I'll definitely keep an eye on the Xperia 5 for later this year when I'll need to switch my work phone as well and make the Sony my daily driver.

I'm 99% sure this is supposed to be a "premium mid ranger" like the iPhone xr rather than a flagship. I think sony came up with this solution to deal with the problems they were having releasing two flagships phones a year. I think this phone should be around 700$
i agree its competition is with iphone xr and the back design wanna fight with those models it looks so premium and i also want that pricing cos if its more than that it will lose to one plus with more features

Hi and thanks for the video. BTW, does this phone has the same problems as X1 ? I saw many people complaining about X1 when you use the camera and that is because the phone overheats and it also freezes. Try testing the camera as much as possible.
I lost all my trust for Sony Xperia phones because I and many other users have had touchscreen issues with many Xperia phones. My brother-in-law also has his Xperia screen much less sensitive. There have been plenty of reports on their support forums and the only fix (might recur) is replacing the screen it's super annoying to use a phone with an unresponsive touchscreen. Avoid all phones with touchscreen issues (pocophone, redmi 5 plus, Sony phones...)
Great summary, thank you. Love this new phone. (Please note Sony have responded to one of your main criticisms about there being no headphones socket on the phone by now including for free in the box a USB-C to headphones socket! I can still use my noise reducing Bose headphones, phew!)
I have small hands and I can never put this in my pocket like my compact does But I really like that they kinda went back to omnidesign but if the common problems of Xperia are still there then its kinda saddening They really need to focus on their software problems more

Game Enhancer on Xperia 1 already allows for gameplay recording up to 1080/30, it's missing the voice changer though, but like you say, and has been affirmed by Sony, all features are coming to Xperia 1. The camera though doesn't use the same hardware, and is missing some slow motion features, and memory backed hardware for it.
Could you please include in your reviews : 1. Number of SIM cards the phone supports. 2. Whether it has a separate slot for the memory card, or it has a hybrid SIM / memory card slot. 3. @@bojangbg I didn't say I'm not clear, neither did I say it's confusing but rather messy. It's like while the series is at 1, 5 appears out of nowhere. If it was supposed to be the smaller variant of the Xperia 1, why not name it something like what Samsung named their smaller phone S10e? I mean, you can't really call this a compact model either, so they could have possibly come up with a rather suitable name. Or maybe this one should have been the Xperia 1 and the bigger 6.5 a plus variant of the flagship, it would make more sense. The successor for their upcoming flagship could be Xperia 2 and Xperia 2 Plus/Ultra or whatever. There is Xperia 10 as a mid range right now and I'm afraid we're going to see Xperia 40 as its successor next. It was all perfectly sensible when they had Xperia Z, Z1, Z2 and so on until the XZ3.

The vertical pixels are just more because of the 21:9 aspect ratio - so for the pixel density compared to a 16:9 full hd panel there shouldn't be a difference.

There's a classic Sony Xperia feel to the design but more refined with sleekness. The colors are on point.. The size of phone is less intimidating for me than Xperia 1. I'd buy it but I think its a bit early to upgrade my XZ2.

I have small hands and I can never put this in my pocket like my compact does
But I really like that they kinda went back to omnidesign but if the common problems of Xperia are still there then its kinda saddening
They really need to focus on their software problems more
I love sony phones especially the compact versions but the software is bloody awful. Solid build (dropped many times) crappy software. I have a xz1 compact and looking to upgrade but all new phones are huge. Why can't a company make like a really narrow 5.2" phone? 😭

I'm good with the Xperia 1 but this is a good option if you have reservations about the size of the 1.
I don't get is they just released the Sony Xperia 1. When the hell did they release Xperia 5? Is this also a flagship phone like the Xperia 1? And what happened to Xperia 2?

Game Enhancer on Xperia 1 already allows for gameplay recording up to 1080/30, it's missing the voice changer though, but like you say, and has been affirmed by Sony, all features are coming to Xperia 1.
The camera though doesn't use the same hardware, and is missing some slow motion features, and memory backed hardware for it.

@@bojangbg I didn't say I'm not clear, neither did I say it's confusing but rather messy. It's like while the series is at 1, 5 appears out of nowhere. If it was supposed to be the smaller variant of the Xperia 1, why not name it something like what Samsung named their smaller phone S10e? I mean, you can't really call this a compact model either, so they could have possibly come up with a rather suitable name. Or maybe this one should have been the Xperia 1 and the bigger 6.5 a plus variant of the flagship, it would make more sense. The successor for their upcoming flagship could be Xperia 2 and Xperia 2 Plus/Ultra or whatever.
There is Xperia 10 as a mid range right now and I'm afraid we're going to see Xperia 40 as its successor next.
It was all perfectly sensible when they had Xperia Z, Z1, Z2 and so on until the XZ3.

The vertical pixels are just more because of the 21:9 aspect ratio - so for the pixel density compared to a 16:9 full hd panel there shouldn't be a difference.

There's a classic Sony Xperia feel to the design but more refined with sleekness. The colors are on point.. The size of phone is less intimidating for me than Xperia 1. I'd buy it but I think its a bit early to upgrade my XZ2.
